If you flash the image then no there shouldnt be any issues. There might be issues with the OTA however. To flash the image go to Android Q image site download the image for your device and then extract it out of the zip. After you do this there is a file called flash-all.bat which you need to edit. Open the file in notepad and go to the last line and in the last line remove the -w (this is so that when you run the script it doesnt wipe your data). After that just boot your device into the bootloader and run flash-all.bat as an administrator (you dont have to but running it as admin avoids any potential UAC issues) wait for all the commands to finish and then reboot your phone. Keep in mind that after you update the first boot will take longer than normal
i installed the beta 3 on my verizon pixel 2 xl which i us in germany.. After the installation i clicked on "add mobile network" in settings.. I think i hard bricked some modem settings now.. As the system now tells me that there is no SIM card inserted, and everytime i click on "add" the following error appears:

This is probably the eSIM manager, but the eSIM is locked network wise?! I don´t know... I obviously checks with some backend as i need wlan data to click "add mobile network".
I can´t get the SIM to work now ... If you update to beta 3 on your 2XL don´t click on "add mobile network"!!!

Is Live Captions working for anyone?
Okay has anyone else had an issue with Q beta 3 not mounting /system and /vendor as read write? Not even TWRP can mount these as r/w and my device is unlocked and rooted
Just got the SIM recognised again. In the UK, goto settings and search for operator
Anyone knows if banking apps work fine with the 3rd beta? I saw many people complaining with previous betas. Also any major bug with that beta?

My banking app (Nationwide UK) works as expected, however mine actually worked since the first beta, even though it didn't for the majority of users. Not sure why. As for bugs, nothing major has cropped up since updating.

Dr. Doofenshmirtz, I'll try.
Hello
I can try, but I can tell you how it goes just over the weekend.
Android says that it is A500, but there are options for mobile connections, pretty weird.
Another thing, data connections - there are no apn's, so I decided to enter it manually, but after saving settings list is still empty. After reboot - same thing.
Then .......... I recovered another A501 (thanks to a friend of mine) and I have installed your rom.
The 3g works perfectly.
The GPS no, that's why I wrote in private (PM)
I would say GREAT JOB

Did you install gapps?
Yes, I did. Twice. Once with mine old 20130301 gapps I downloaded month ago, and then this one (apparently the same).
And.. I can remove and insert sim card without any notification on screen.
Hi,
For me 3G is not working it cant even find any network. And for me also home button does nothing and cant open web browser ;p
EDIT:
After few reboots home and browser started to work bus still no network or 3g.
In Attached log I've went into airplane mode that turned it off and started GPS status.

OK, so basically you did a dirty flash on top of a stock ROM. Try doing all wipes them flash the ROM. Currently, the settings don't show a radio baseband, and errors when detecting network.
My internet is down, so will post dmesg when its back up.
For you others, please attach a dmesg
Adb dmesg > 3gdemesg.txt
Try to do it after boot.
Moscow Sorry, I badly explained
Yes I installed the stock rom, but obviously doing all wipe .... then everything clean
Tell me more about how this gets ADB dmesg> 3gdemesg.txt
?

Ok, with the new JB, you will need some new Google adb files for your PC, otherwise you cannot run the adb commands due to Google's new security. You can get a small package here for Windows PC. Just put them in a folder on your PC. (also, seems like the old command may not work with the new adb)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2144709
Or,
You can do this through the Terminal App on the tablet.
1. Start Terminal Emulator
2. Type su (you should get some type of $ sign then)
3. Then type dmesg >/mnt/sdcard/dmesg.txt (or what ever you want to name it)
This creates it on your internal SD, then use a file explorer to copy it out.
Usually, I can't see the txt file when I move it to Ext SD, so I pull my card and get it from PC.
MD
Kernel Dmesg attached.
EDIT: Also, that USB Issue I told you about, seems to not be in this build. Considering 3g shares USB, I didn't get a reboot with flash sticks, so a step in the right direction.
When going to Settings/More/Mobile Networks, when selecting Access Point Names, Settings closes out back to the default Settings Page.
Logcat attached.
Looks like according to the logcat, it shells out because it can't find the radio. Also saw some info immediately above like LTE CDMA stuff. This makes sense as in the Settings About Phone, it doesn't have the radio baseband listed.
On a lesser priority, copying a file from my 1tb NTFS to the internal memory works great.
However, you cannot write back to the drive. VOLD?

Thanks, so that explains the 3g.
You have the TegraOwners build.prop. which probably means there were left-over files from the rom you were running before. I kind of suspected this.
So basically, what you have now, is a mix of the 2 roms.
Remember, before flashing any new rom
1. In CWM Wipe menu
a. Data/factory reset
b. Wipe cache
c. Wipe Dalvak Cache
2. In Mounts and Storage
a. Format System
b. Format Flexrom
Then install rom. I'll bet if you do that, you won't have 3g afterwards.
Thanks for the help though, as it clears things up, and randomblame can focus on the issues.
MD
I'm sorry to contradict you but I can guarantee that I have done all the steps you have listed perhaps exception of flexrom (can not remember, more no than yes).
With Rom TegraOwners for me 3g never worked, that's why I did not use for a long time (see signature in the latest version that I used some time ago) ...
But I knew the secret.
After trying the 3g working, I tried the GPS did not work and then I installed the fix found on TegraOwners (http://forum.tegraowners.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1046&start=2220 # p33410) here who has rewrote the build.prop

Without gapps.
format only /data
And flash, reboot recovery, full wipe and instal LOLLIPOP in this custom cwm
Thanks for advice. I've just flashed the CWM instead of this TWRP and it works.
But it seems that WiFi doesn't work
Will check.
WiFi issue
Hi.
It seems that I have rarely coming issue that WiFi doesn't work on Lollipop. I tried several different versions including yours - the picture is the same: "Turning WiFi on" - and it lasts forever. I saw some feedbacks from people who has the same issue but no working solution. Very sad because other feedbacks are OK. Very strange. Maybe you have some ideas regarding that?
Hmm... Strange. I reflashed new rom and it seems to be working! I'l test.
But nevertheless I've found some workaround maybe it will help somehow for someone:
This behavior (endless Turning WiFi on message) is an issue in CM.
So either boot without SD card inserted or Unmount sdcard (Settings > Storage) and reboot system whenever wifi has troubles.
Upd: ahh, sh... No, it still doesn't work. Just connected to wifi once, on the first boot. And then - the same. Tried to unmount sd - but it didn't help. SD unmounted but when rebooted - it mounted again and wifi doesn't switch on
My vote for Marshmallow

All Lollipop roms are already neared to perfection for our daily use.
So move to next..

OK, I'm very tired of other 4.x SLLLLLOOOOOWWWWWW ROMs and installed this one. Yes, it really smooth on the first glance, thank you. The only big issue as I understand applied to some models (including mine ) - not working WiFi with SD card installed. Sad but true. The only workaround (can be added to FAQ for example):
If WiFi stucks on "WiFi is starting..." message then:
- Unmount and remove SD card
- Reboot
- Turn WiFi on, connect to network
- insert SD card back.
So it works.

Hello,
I wanted to install Bixby Voice Wake-Up application to my unrooted Galaxy Note 5 (I installed many S8 apps) but i got the package name confliction error, so I decompiled the apk to change its package name. I followed instructions to decompile and edit the package name, it was going alright. When the editing process finished, I needed to compile the files but I do not know how to do it. Now, I'm asking you, how can I recompile the files?
Additionally, I tried tons of ways to accomplish;
I tried to install it immediately after I see the homescreen
I uninstalled the updates of the conflicting app and tried to install the apk
I tried to change the package name of the apk by using APK Editor Pro and it changed but when it's installed, an app shows up and when I open it, a screen with loading bar and "Initializing" frozes (you can see it in the picture)
I tried to change the package name of the installed app, but it didn't really changed in system/priv-app

Did you ever get it figured out? I'm in the same boat.
the reason that bixby voice fails to install is because it must be placed on root on fone and permissions enhanced.
Further detail why bixby must be place on root of fone is because i took apart a wake-up app and compared to s- voice wake up and others. I found that Bixby voice lacked install instruction that s- voice had. There is no plug in direction.

Unless u have some special flasher tool like the z3x i think it is its not gonna happen. I used one of them file explorers, and looked at its permissions and apk installation instructions that are progammed into the apk. I found that when compared to the s voice wake up apk. The bixby voice didnt have the apk installation instruction just the apk name and version. Sooo....... just have to find root for ur device or get the system flasher.
I am having the same prob and I think it might be bad news
Hi....i am having the same issue as you and I have had it before when I wanted to download the Samsung s8 touchwiz to my s7.
Unfortunately to solve that problem I had to back up all my pictures and factory reset the phone.....when setting the phone up again, don't sign in to Samsung when asked to do it. Then I went straight on the web and downloaded and installed the touchwiz no problem then finished the set up and completely forgot about bixby so download a full set of bixby programs. All of them installed but accept the wake up file.
So I will prob have to do another factory reset again and install the bixby straight away with it.
Only thing is I am not actually sure that even if the last bixby file does download will bixby voice actually work. I pretty sure there is something about needing custom ROM and having to download it in a boot loader to actually get it to work. So not sure if it's worth it
Also my wife has am S8 and bixby is great for the for few days but when it becomes part of everyday life you will never use....only time she seems to be on bixby is when she is knocking the button by accident.
By all means I am not saying it's **** or anything like that I just think it's in it's early days and it needs a couple of years yet to get off the ground and by the time it is worth all this work and fuss you, prob have a phone that has it on standard anyway.
I know I went on but want people to know what I have experienced with full bixby on S8 and it's not all si6nging and dancing like people think.
I am on stock 8.0 after the update during a call the phone buzzed and made a loud sound like a siren. After the crash I used it and got message of abnormal restart. I decided to hard reset it. The phone buzzed for about 30 seconds at least and then booted giving me an error uDove to send to HTC. I sent the error and updated all apps to set up.
1. Since then whenever I wake up the phone with the fingerprint or open an app the current window goes white and gets minimised as an app would do. Or as if a pop up goes on and gets closed by an adblock (in desktop).
2. I noticed also lags in performance and battery drain.
All my apps are basic and from play store (major publishers and no games at all) With HTC support I used the phone in Safe mode and no problems where observed. I thought it was htc sense update that was causing the issues however it is not the case. I am lost and do not know what to do. The phone is annoying to use and 4 hard and soft resets did not improve anything.
I ran every check with the HTC utility and nothing significant was reported (all passed ok), During the following hardresets the bootloader gives error

Looks like partitions map is damaged (hard to read the photo). My educated guess is that you either get a RUU from HTC and let the phone recover everything fresh or unlock boot loader and install custom ROM.
Can you use superuser rights via adb in the HTC recovery mode?

It reads:
handle_cota_install: install cwpkg to /cache/cota/cwpkg.zip
handle_cota_install: install cwprop to /cache/cota/cw.prop
E:can't open /sys/class/power_supply/battery/capacity
handle_cota_install: can't mount /sdcard
E:can't open /sys/class/power_supply/battery/capacity
Could you please tell me what is RUU and how to obtain it? My phone model is this one https://photos.app.goo.gl/tgzt2ebSj1fdt5o29
I can read if I know what I am looking for thank you. HTC has not been very helpful online

HTC is sadly ignoring/abandon the U Ultra. Pity.
NVM
RUU is ROM Update Utility - it is an HTC format for update packages. Sadly, Oreo hasn't been made available by HTC.
Since (presuming) you are still under warranty (no unlocked bootloader etc.) I advise to hit the HTC service center and tell them that their OTA went wrong.
Alternatively I could only think of unlocking the bootloader and doing the fix yourself.
Whitch CID do You have? Is it single sim or dual?
I as an update the phone is getting worse the more I use it. I screen blacks out for few seconds and then back to normal. Something like voltage issues. If anyone knows the UK repair service I would appreciate the details. They are not responding e-mails and chat is not helpful at all.
It is bought with UK plug so I assume it is the ones in UK?

So. You have nothing to lose. Try to copy OTA to SD card. Clear Cache and Apply update from SD Card. Maybe it Will help...

Edit:
Or downgrade to Nougat, then try with OTA again.
Hello everyone, after buying a new device (huawei) and after 4 visits to the repair center my phone seems to be replaced with another one. unfortunately the battery was changed and it is worse than ever (after a hard reset it says it was last fully charged 223days ago.
I solved the problem by doing a hard reset and not updating the google app. My last reported version (installed by HTC) is 7.17.28.21.arm64 (my device is HTC U ULTRA but same problem). After this everything else runs smoothly etc.
I believe it relates to new features of the app that change completely how it manages the device
• Use voice commands while navigating – even when your device has no connection. Try saying "cancel my navigation" "what's my ETA?" or "what's my next turn?"
• Weak connection? If your search fails, the Google app will deliver you results once you regain connection.
• Troubleshoot connectivity issues with more helpful error cards when your search fails because your device is offline
• New customization options available for cards in your feed
Hi
I am trying to bring this old tablet back to like to use in flight sims. I want to update it from its current 5.0.2 Android.
Google searchs have been vague at best. I was able to success to gain root access. I'm doing this all with no PC.
When I installed official TWRP app....and get to the first screen where you check the 3 boxes, the last box (network one) I check it, then window pops up with private terms blah blah. I tap that window and the big form opens up and you can scroll it and hit okay at bottom then it goes away. But then the 3rd box unchecked itself.
So if I go further and try and twrp flash then click on select device I get an error "failed to fetch data from server"
If I go into network statistics menu I get that same smaller box like when I'm setting up but there no ok/yes button on it to accept the terms.
Any ideas?

@rescue119, I bought one of these SM-T357W tablets used and made an updated TWRP and 18.1 LineageOS rom for it late Dec 2021/early Jan 2022. I've been using it for the last 2 months with little problems and it based mainly off my other Tab A/E msm8916 work.
Having said that, my build does NOT have a working LTE/mobile data and selfie camera/video recording is completely broken. If you are interested in trying this build, I will start a new thread and post all the FAQ/details needed over the next couple of days.

Ya that would be great. Those items are not needed. Just some of the software I want to use is incompatible with the older versions of android.

Done. See
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...or-galaxy-tab-a-sm-t357w-jan-25-2022.4409801/
and
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-1-galaxy-tab-a-sm-t357w-jan-25-2022.4409799/
If you have no PC, you will need your existing TWRP to update to my TWRP. Your existing TWRP will NOT work with flashing LineageOS 18.1. In TWRP, goto to install, install image, select my TWRP, then flash it, reboot back into recovery and then you can install my LineageOS 18.1 zip following the instructions in my FAQ. You MUST format Data.
Awesome thank you. I'll give the non pv route a go first. Worse case I wait til I'm home tomorrow

You only need the first 2 files: lineage-18.1-20220125-UNOFFICIAL-gt58ltebmc.zip and TWRP_3.5.2_9_SM-T357W_20220125_Unofficial.img
The last 3 are the actual code.

You only need to install the LineageOS zip file. That's it.
Success! Thanks so much
My camera seems to work...even though it's garbage and I won't use it. Also in the about tablet it says device name is now sm-t350 lol. No biggie just letting you know

That's something I noticed, but haven't bothered changing yet. In the next build, I will change it.
It's just changing this line of code.
https://github.com/retiredtab/andro...c/blob/lineage-18.1/lineage_gt58ltebmc.mk#L27
Code:
PRODUCT_MODEL := SM-T350
to
PRODUCT_MODEL := SM-T357W
And it's done.
