Screen "vibration" (flicking?)

Hi all,
as my signature says... yes, I sent my X1 to repair (cracks, as always). When I got it back, it seems to be perfect. Outside. Switched it on and it seemed ok.
As soon as I came back home, I noticed that the lower part of the screen "vibrates" (I can not define it in a better way... I suppose the right verb is "to flick"). At sunlight I did not noticed it, but at home and in the dark it is really really visible (and annoying, on a 600€ brand new phone).
Does someone ever had the same issue? or does someone know how to solve it (apart from sending it again to repair).
Thanks!
P.S.: searched the thread and foud nothing. Searched in google and just came up with a "refresh" problem, that does not apply to our X1... or can we change the refresh rate?!
I did once experience what I believe was the same issue, the flickering screen. The problem was still there after a soft reset and power cycle, but then after leaving the phone for a few minutes it turned back to normal.
Unfortunately I don't think I be of much help here as I don't recall doing anything special to get the screen back to normal.

Light sensor

There is one on the G2, right?
The reason I ask is I'm pretty sure if there is, mine is broken, or something. Problem is, when talking on the phone, I am consistently either inadvertently putting it on hold, or muting the phone as it touches my face when held up to my ear.
Anyone else have similar problems?
yeaa there is i have had that happen on my tp2 so many times as well

It has a light sensor and proximity sensor. Mine works perfectly. Whenever I'm on a phone call the screen turns off every time. Next time try setting your phone down while you're on a call and placing your hand over the top portion of the phone. Screen should turn off completely when you get within a few inches of it.

Thanks, that's exactly what I needed to know. Mine does not. The screen does turn off once the time out interval passes, but until that time it stays on, and the hold/mute problem occurs.
Now let's see what I can get done warranty wise.
Thanks for the replies.....
When making a call, my screen only goes dark when the phone is in a vertical position and then you put your hand over the sensors, otherwise if its on a table or laying flat the screen stays on while making a call.

Really? Mine turns off no matter what position it is in. Flat on the table or vertical/horizontal. Maybe it helps to say I'm post-OTA with no root.

Im post OTA and rooted with CM6.1RC2.
Ill try my wifes phone thats post ota only when she gets home.
I did notice that since I put CM6.1 on my phone, the in call features work WAY better.
I have noticed this but only when using the speakerphone button...when I have tried to bring it to my cheek without getting out of speaker, i have put calls on hold and also hung up on them......
I got to see if coming from speaker to headset also has issues...
Just got off the phone with customer service. They are going to warranty it. They didn't say it was a known problem, but I was told by one rep that its not the first time they have seen this problem.

Sounds good. Hopefully the replacement doesn't have any problems. But it seems like they are starting to get their stuff together and sending out some good phones recently.
P.S.
Have you tried a factory reset to fix the prob?

I did. No go.
And on that note, and this might make me sound like an idiot, but since the reset, no matter what I do or how hard I try, Angry Birds refuses to install.
Weird, huh?

Touchscreen problem.

I bought my TF300 at Amazon June and basically it works well until yesterday.
The sympton is like someone keep tapping the specific areas of touchscreen and never stop, actually i haven't put my finger on ,even i didn't hold the tablet, just put it on desktop.
I had to tried to hold the power button to restart the TF300 several times and finally it looks become normal.
But this morning, when i power it on, the problem occurred.
Anyone have idea this problem ?
Weird. Do you have a screen protector on? If you do, you might need to take it off. If you don't, try cleaning your screen with the cloth it came with, also do a cold reboot (this is done by turning off your tablet then turning it back on holding the volume down button until you see some text in the upper left of the screen, after that just leave the tablet do he's thing, meaning don't touch anything else until it boots up). If that doesn't fix the problem, you will need to try to do a factory reset. If that fails to fix the problem I suggest you contact ASUS support or if its still under amazon's warranty exchange for a new one.

I found a member had the some problem. See thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1653178
I gotta to contact ASUS local first.
A friend of mine bought it in Amazon U.S for me and bring it to China, which makes me hard to exchange ( International post fee and custom tax).
I had that problem

Mine wasn't picking when I pressed on the screen... I open the back and saw a ribbon cable was kinda loose and held with tape. So I pressed it in and put more tape on it and now its fine with the response from the screen.

Fix for touchscreen issues
Hey guys,
I thought I'd post my solution to the same problem. It is a hardware issue and I figured it was because of how thin the device is. Basically, I noticed it when I would be playing or if the device started to heat up. Since the battery and screen are so close together, I figured there wasn't enough space and that the heat from the battery was making the tablet think that there was a touch input when there was none.
My solution was to open up the tablet and take the battery out. Then I put slivers of foam (about 1/2" x 2") in between the battery and the screen. Since then I haven't had problems with the touchscreen.
I hope this helps you guys with this problem.

[Q] Touchscreen problem: hardware or software?

Hey
I had my Nexus 4 for a while now and today suddenly I have a problem with my touchscreen. It suddenly happend, it didn't fall or nothing.
So, the problem: there is a part of the screen that doesn't function properly. It's at a certain y value or height. It noticed this today when I wanted to swipe down the notification bar. Half the time it flips back up or doesn't do anything at all, sometimes it does work. If I swipe "fast" before that height, it usually works.
I downloaded an app to test the touchscreen and at that height it registers 2 or more fingers or it snaps above or under that line.
Can I fix this or do I need to bring it back for warranty? Is this a software or hardware issue? I also did a reset, but that didn't help...
I uploaded some videos to illustrate (can't post links so insert this in the youtube links please):
1. The problem: /watch?v=kNLbSU0smcw
2. Test: /watch?v=B8ERuBtYeBA
Edit: When I hold the phone horizontally, the notification bar works perfectly.
Many thanks,
Aaron
Update: from yesterday until now the screen was even worse, like I was touching it with 100 fingers, it went totally crazy...
A few hours later it works perfectly normal again
Any ideas?
Ok, I still have this problem...
However, the problem is present and I switch a few time to the lockscreen and back, it's fixed most the time. So I think this must be a software issue.
Maybe undoing a few updates might help? What's the best way to do that?
Are you on a Custom ROM / Kernel? If so, go back to stock ROM and Kernel and see if the problem still exists.
No, never used other roms, kernels or rooted..

I have the exact same issue.. Did you manage to solve it?
Nope, but sometimes I can use it like a week with no problem and sometimes I have it everyday.
At first I thought it might be because of the low temperature in my bedroom, but I tested it and I don't think that's the reason. I removed the cover I bought too, but I need to use it a bit longer to be sure it doesn't happen without cover. After that I'll put on the cover again and check again.
Is it possible that it happens when it is charging? Mine does this when it is charging.
No, as far as I know it's not affected by charging. The first time I had this problem I just picked it up from my desk..
I had touch screen issues as well, less than one month after getting the phone.
Occasionally, after pressing the power button to power up the display, the touch screen would not be responsive. I need to turn off/turn on the display again for it to work. It finally conked out one day when the entire part used for soft keys doesn't work anymore. Just an instant before this happened the touch screen started acting crazy for a few seconds.
Had the touch screen and LCD replaced under warranty.
The problem now is there's a bright white blob in the upper right corner of the LCD, and the proximity sensor sometimes doesn't work, resulting in no display when making or receiving a call.

Yeah, turning the display on/off a few times (so lock/unlock) helps sometimes. The warranty is a bit of a problem here, I bought it in Germany (MediaMarkt), but I live in Belgium. I tried registering at the LG site (Belgian version), but no option to select a Nexus 4 there for support... I did a live chat at the LG site, explained my problem and the helpdesk guy just left the chat I tried to contact them using Twitter, but they never replied. I asked MediaMarkt and they said I'd have to bring it in the a German MediaMarkt... It's a long way to Germany, so I'd rather not do that unless I can't solve it and they reject the warranty in Belgium (although they are obliged to).
I'm also worried that I'd get an even worse phone, like the problems you have with your new phone :s

Ok..I have a RaZr and this happened to me too. One fine day. Playing a game. In the middle of nowhere. I was scared. S*it scared. So what did i do?
I just did a soft reboot. Pressing the right combination of keys and the phone reboots.
Also, here is a very long drawn attempt, but can u try doing a wipe data/dalvik/cache?
Go into stock recovery and do the rest.
It may help, it may not help.
WARNING: YOU WILL LOSE ALL DATA while doing this.
And oh: I am sorry but I think this is a hardware issue. I may be wrong.
I had the same issue with my EVO LTE. It would go away and come back just like yours. It wasn't a software problem , so I sent it in under warranty and they're fixing it free of charge.

S4 only one horizontal line

Yesterday, my screen turn off, or so i thought, there was a horizontal line on the top of the screen, and i saw it was the same color as the screen i was on. I immediately took off the battery and for a split second it worked before turning off. So i thought it was a low voltage problem, and let it charge overnight, and today it worked for 2 hours until it failed again. So.. if anyone knows how to repair this without replacing the entire screen, please let me know. i already checked if it was the conector, and it seems it isn't
If the screen itself is the problem then there is no way to fix it without replacing.

Hi,
It appears to me that it's some kind of problem with the screen as well, it doesn't seem to be changing the leds of the previous screen until it is out of power to keep them turned on. Unfortunately I'd guess the only solution is replacing screen.

You might try changing the software, but it might be hard to do if the screen doesn't display anything in recovery or download mode.

nope, it doesn't, i was hoping it was a software issue, but i noticed that it didn't display anything in recovery or download, so i opened the phone and checked if the display connector wasn't passed correctly or something, but to my surprise it was correctly connected, i went and disconnected and reconnected the pin, but it didn't helped at all
