Firefox won't run on Zmax - ZTE ZMAX Questions & Answers

Ever since I had this phone, I think, firefox will not run on it. Is there something different about this phone that wont allow firefox to run? I have tried it on pure stock, lineageos and aokp and firefox just wont run, no matter what version I install.
Here's a log for when i try and open the app.

[Q] why do file downloads fail?

Im coming from a nexus s running CM, and on that i was able to download any file on the net direct to the phone.
On my note, i have been trying to do the same thing, however, moments after the download starts, it fails and i get an error message saying that the type of file is not compatible with my device.
The files ive been trying to download are the plugins (such as nVidia) for chainfire 3d... It also happened yesterday when i was trying to download some custom boot animations.
This means i have to wait till i get home, download to my pc then transfer them.
is it because im on the stock rom, and future custom roms will fix this? Or is there something i can change that will sort this?
I am rooted.
Are you using the stock browser?
If so, why not try a different browser, give Opera browser a go and see if you have any more download problems.

Chrome+Flash...

I've installed flash, but Flash content doesn't load in chrome...
What to do?
I have Firefox as a backup browser if certain webpages need flash. I had this flashify app installed so when using chrome and the webpage I'm currently in needed flash, I do "share, flashify and choose Firefox".
Of course you must first sideloaded the flash plugin for Firefox to work with flash content.

Chrome doesent support flash. Use flashify or a different browser like the AOSP browser

Self-signed certificates

So I've had this problem with androids for a while now. i need to install a self-signed certificate to access a website for my job. my previous phone was a Droid X and did not support self-signed certificates so someone went out and developed a browser called Sandrob where i could install the certificate to the browser and access the site. Now Sandrob was no longer developed after Gingerbread because android is now supports self-signed certs, but chrome does not. From what i have been able to find online they work on ICS but only in the stock android browser, and our phones stock android browser is chrome.
someone else withe the same issue http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1892428
Now the certificate installs and i have installed it as a .p12 and as a .cer. i have tried Firefox, Dolphin, Opera, and Chrome with no success.
I need help please.
Found some bug reports documenting this issue on chrome

So many views and no replies. :crying:
Perhaps try Quick ICS Browser, or ICS browser+? Those two are very close to stock.

Both Quick ICS Browser and ICS Browser + require you to have the stock android browser installed. they both crash when i tried them. Thanks for trying to help.

ASOP browser question

I searched and could not find a direct answer.... I am rooted with stock browser. I am updated to 4.3 and recently installed ASOP browser and flash. The browser freezes on websites with flash content and the android flash test page doesn't load... Is there any way to get flash to work with this browser?
thanks

Hi, flyers27...
I've never been able to get Adobe Flash Player working in the AOSP browser under Jellybean 4.3. There's actually a whole thread devoted to this issue here. The thread title declares the problem to be solved... it isn't. The OP mentions that by performing a full factory flash back to stock Jellybean 4.3, the problem should be resolved. Well, I did that (for reasons that have nothing to with Flash), and Flash STILL causes the AOSP browser to freeze/crash.
So, I admitted defeat, sometime back in August, and installed Firefox. For the most part, I use the AOSP browser - but if I know I need to use Flash, I use Firefox.
------------------------------------------
A workaround using Flashify...
This method is dependant on how often you access Flash content... if it's only occasionally, then it's fine and works OK. But if you need to access Flash content a lot, you'd probably be better off just using Firefox as your default browser.
Along with the AOSP Browser, install the Firefox browser.
Then install Flashify.
Set your AOSP browser as default... and use this browser on a routine basis, as normal.
On the occasion you need to access Flash content (say on a given website) in the AOSP browser tap on the menu, and select 'Share page'.... a bunch of listed apps will appear, one of which will be 'Flashify'.
Select 'Flashify', and a list of your installed browsers will appear (including Chrome)... select Firefox.
The webpage URL you're currently looking at will be 'sent' to Firefox... and any Flash content will now work.
Sounds more complicated than it actually is... and I know it's hardly an ideal or an elegant solution, but I've been using this method since mid-August, so it's habitual for me. I do it without really thinking about it.
------------------------------------------
Hope this helps... and if you ever do find a way of making Flash work in the AOSP brower, please post your solution.
Rgrds,
Ged.
I also tried many different browsers but with 4.3 - nothing.
on 4.2 Boat Browser helped me better the Opera of Firefox

Help getting a browser onto NZH54D Rom

Long time listener, first time caller
Having re-flashed plenty of old phones, usually with LineageOS and Open gApps I now find myself going a little deeper down the rabbit hole.
I have three old Nexus7's (grouper) which I would like to use as control panels at home (I have the nice docks for them to sit on).
I have installed TWRP and NZH54D which was painless and loving just how bare bones the ROM is.
I didn't want to add Open gApps as I don't think there is any need. All I think I need is a browser for the control panel.
I've downloaded the Firefox apk and after struggling to get that on the system it won't actually install giving the error "there was a problem while parsing the package".
I feel I've gone too far down a wrong turn.
Is there an easier way for me to get some base (open) applications on a standard ROM without going gApps?
Can I get FireFox on here some other way?
Would another ROM be better?
Thank you so much in advance.
Assuming you downloaded the correct version (armeabi-v7a), I've found that sometimes a good restart helps fix that error.
If not, you could try briefly installing gapps, download Firefox, then uninstall. Theoretically though, it should install without issues as just an apk
