Im coming from a nexus s running CM, and on that i was able to download any file on the net direct to the phone.
On my note, i have been trying to do the same thing, however, moments after the download starts, it fails and i get an error message saying that the type of file is not compatible with my device.
The files ive been trying to download are the plugins (such as nVidia) for chainfire 3d... It also happened yesterday when i was trying to download some custom boot animations.
This means i have to wait till i get home, download to my pc then transfer them.
is it because im on the stock rom, and future custom roms will fix this? Or is there something i can change that will sort this?
I am rooted.
Are you using the stock browser?
If so, why not try a different browser, give Opera browser a go and see if you have any more download problems.

Dolphin browser is another good one.

Anybody else having a problem with downloads, especially using default browser, with cm7? Anything I download, more so with saving images, ill have to download the file anywhere from 3-10 times. It just keeps saying download unsuccessful. Occasionally it tells me my sdcard is full when I'm downloading apps from the market. Anyone?

Yes these are known bugs in the Cyanogen(mod) roms.
Sorry, I wasn't thinking when I typed that. I had the same problem, just not as severe, with the stock rom.

Cyanogen cooked ROMS are built off of Google's Stock source code. So since there are no known 2.3 ROMs for this phone so everything they are doing is purely trial and error. They do an AWESOME job but yea.... they are buggie.
Their WiFi bug is the most annoying. but i live with it.
I am Unable to download anything using Dolphin/Stock browsers. When i click on download it saves html file. What shld i do to rectify the problem?
Same problem here, still looking for an answer.
I never had this problem. In fact, the file that i download using stock browser shows up under the downloads app. What type of file are you downloading?

If it helps, I'm not having this problem at all with Dolphin HD or the stock browser. Let me know if you want to compare stuff (settings, configs, apps, etc.)...?
I haven't tried this on the Acer, but I had the same problem with my Droid x at first.
Go to the market and download "Download All Files". On the Droid, this is a browser addon for stock. Try to install it, launch it, then try the browser again. You might have to kill the process first aafter installing it.
I'm going to test it now for myself.
Download problems
Do you have 'Unknown Sources' checked in Settings-Applications? If not, you won't be able to do it.

Flash content wont work on web sites that direct you too YouTube, have to use the YouTube app. Wont work on face book links. Wont work on apps like "kid mode" that play flash content. I have tried installing flash archives 11.1-81, with no luck. Also trying to get wifi teher to work on 4.4.2 also. Help appreciated. Thanks

Seems to work fine for me. Have you turned on flash in the web content setting in Dolphin?
Flash works fine with Firefox, if you want to use Dolphin , you need to also install the Jetpack and a hacked version of Flash not just the regular one from Flash Archive.
Just google 'Dolphin hack flash'
Yes I have flash turned on in dolphin. On demand, always on. Still nothing. I try to down load the dolphin flash hack and this is what I get on my phone and pc.

Do you still need it? I have it on my S4. You got that page because dropbox was getting too many hits for a "personal" cloud space.

Is it the same with your pc? Judging from the screenshot you posted and your statement that it also happens in your pc may mean that you were the one who violated Google's terms of service. Flash will work on any pc (version-specific disregarded). Maybe you should try to contact Google and let them explain to you the reason behind it.
Here is a dropbox link from DF

If it still doesnt work, make sure you uninstall all flash then re-install.
Also, Dolphin website has it too.

I think ur problem from ad block ...like adfree or adblock plus
If u use one of them stop them and restore default then delete them
Use adway app its doesn't have YouTube content issue

Awesome it finally works. Its working in dolphin and other 3rd party apps. Thanks for the download.
Many people including me have tried to download something from the Mega host, just to run into troubles, and if you are like me, you dont want to install the app...
I found a little trick i thought i'd share, hopefully its the right place to share it.
When you run into a thread that has a link to Mega, you are normally greeted with the nice Mega App redirect page. To get around this:
1) Change your browser to Desktop mode on the current page you are on, not on the Mega redirect page.
2) Most importantly, tap and hold the download link and copy the link address.
3) Paste the link address into your current desktop viewed tab, and go.
You should now be able to get to the actual download without the app and/or fuss.
Cheers!
Thank you for sharing this it was kind of hard to figure out and it was annoying to have their ad for the app always appearing.
From Dante's Inferno via XDA Premium HD
Awesome! Now do you know how to get the browser to open tabs in the background?

The app doesn't support downloading from folders anyway. So your method is still the best bet even if the app is installed. I should also mention that this method works with the stock browser I couldn't get it to work with Dolphin.

You can try entering this into your browser- i didnt have to touch anything once i hit enter., just paste the link and go. Afterwords, try tapping and holding a link, open in new tab, and it should open in the background.

Thanks for the help. It didn't work. I exited the browser (cause the Relaunch Browser button on the bottom didn't work), but still, tabs open in foreground. Weird that this is not an option. (BTW I'm using the built in brower)
Seems it's not working anymore with stock browser under CM12.1
Just curious, why not just install the app? It is IMO one of the best cloud storage/file sharing services you can use, way better than dropbox or box. Would love to understand why people don't use it.

Because it's slow, it downloads to a cloud 1st then to my phone and never allows me to use download booster so that's it in a nutshell for me anyways
Seems that Mega does no more allow uploading img files
I usually upload stock e.g. boot img, recovery.img, persist.img whenever I switch or update the ROM (used to do it on several devices and never had problems)
Yesterday I wanted again but it didn't upload. Then I tested:
- same img files that I uploaded with no problems time ago to Mega, but now uploading to another folder on Mega
- by renaming img files to bin files
- I even downgraded from the recent Mega 4.3 apk to 4.2.2 (because the last time, two weeks ago I successfully uploaded two img files and I checked now that Mega 4.3 apk was updated afterwards, just few days ago)
But no avail
I can upload my stock or Android patched boot images but ONLY if I ZIP them
However, I checked with a TWRP img file (for flashing TWRP) and it worked
Also, all my img files that were previously uploaded to Mega are still there and can be downloaded
I'm an old Mega user, with 50 GB limit, and I have 26 GB of free space (boot images are about 20 MB each), hence there is no lack of space problem - btw, I just uploaded an even bigger zip file with no problem
