Note for is Marshmallow 6.1 I was looking for a simple way to transfer all my settings and history over I understand many Apps wont work.
i use multiple browsers that each have their own bookmarks and history, specifically opera 51.2 , chrome ver 73. , Brave and Firefox. I wanted to transfer apps also along with my gmail account info I also have whatsapp. Ideally Id like to have a bup on my pc I have both windows 8.1 and win 10. Yes I have copied all photos and videos over via USB cable. I first thought of Titatium pro so I rooted both phones used the option in titanium do a full backup to my 64 GB SD card, when I tried restoreing titanium would lock up I had to do a selective backup because there are certain files/apps that are incompatible I thought at least I would get my basic data transfered after 20 trial and failures, I realized this is a little more complicated. On my ASUS I was not getting my bookmarks or any apps to work. I next factory reset ASUS tried Google backup restore, contacts transfered but History and bookmarks didnt. I just tried Mybackup pro and I tried Helium free also bookmarks and History not transferring over along.
Looking for suggestions, links tutorials to try

flashing ROMs and wiping data doesn't touch your storage. everything will stay in its place. there is no reason to wipe your storage to flash a ROM. the only time that the storage gets wiped is when you unlock your bootloader.
To my my photos and are very important. I sync them with my google + also sync google plus with my pc and my phone. so there are 3 copies of them.. Now with that said unless you mess up your internal storage your files will always be there as said above.. But like a pc . ALWAYS backup stuff off the device.
once you have google account and google + setup.
go into settings accounts and sync.. and sync photos Instant upload .
also you could use Ti media sync . there are also others on the net such of some for picassa .
Also a new option... I use just host to host a website. Pm me your email and i can send you a invite to just cloud service they have a great picture sync app.
many options ...
Hello, since my system had been unstable recently, I used Keis to backup my Note PRO and did a hardware reset. I selected all to backup everything and also selected all to recover everything. Unfortunately, after the recovery, I found:
1. Some settings were set incorrectly or disappeared.
2. One photo became corrected
3. Stored passwords to google, yahoo, Facebook are gone. I need to re-enter everything
4. The mails that I sent to people using the mail address from my phone company are all gone.
So, Keis 3 is not a reliable app to backup the device?
Keis 3 is not a complete backup software it will only save samsung and minor system settings. You need to be rooted to backup data files which hold most of what you have missing.
It's sad that we can't have a full backup of all needed settings and files. There are some solutions like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.backup&hl=en_GB Helium which is the only 9 new that will not need rooting the device.
Wish you the best in your journey
Chris

After flashing and trying out many Custom ROMs on my Note3, I've been burned several times by having backups that don't work.
For example.
1. Had Lollipop 5.0.1 ROM, backed up everything to Samsung Smart Switch and Samsung Kies. Everything backed up, verified it manually. However, after upgrading to CustomROM MM 6.0.1 I cannot restore anything except contacts. No call log, no SMS, no apps and their settings (this takes most time to manually re-install). So Smart Switch and Kies are useless for me.
2. I also backed up everything in Titanium Pro when doing MM6.0.1 -> MM6.0.1 full wipe install. However, when restoring the backed up apps I had many force closes, many apps didn't work at all, many got their Google Play market issues borked (no amount of manual removal/reinstall helped this) and some could not be restored with my custom settings. So, Titanium Pro is near useless for me.
3. I also backed up to Google's own Marshmallow Backup feature. I got _most_ apps backed up, but not all of their settings and not all restored properly. Again, this is nowhere near 100% success and I had to manually re-install Launcher, it's desktop layout icons/positions, all widgets, all call logs, all SMS messages. Lots of work. This has been the "best so far, but nowhere near good" backup that I've been able to find.
So, is there anything out there on Android 6.x that just works? Always. No questions asked. Restores properly. Has clear reports on how/why/when it fails?
Helium Pro and MyBackup Pro both have tons of recent horrible user reviews. I'm not sure they are any better and rather not risk again all my apps/settings/data, because there's another for-pay software that almost works, sometimes
So, any recommendations?
How do you back all your:
- all contacts
- all call/text logs
- all SMS/MMS messages
- all user installed apps and their settings, all system settings
- all accounts and their passwords
- Launcher & setting and incl. desktop, lock screen, icon positions, app re-naming, etc. (I'm using Nova Prime)
Media files, incl. photos I can and always to backup manually.
Of course, I'm not looking to backup a whole ROM, incl kernel/system/baseband modem. Just the apps/settings and everything else.
Titanium backup can do all the things. Except backing up google password for example because I'm not sure which app is storing it.

Thanks, I already have Titanium Backup *root* and have tried it, but it fails on so many issues still.
Even the google backup is better, IMHO (i.e. more reliable on the average).
Never had TB pro fail over many many years .
That with a Nandroid/ Clockwork mod recovery covers all my needs .
Contacts i backup to sim card and Google.
Dont require text/ calls backup nor SMS messages .

Restored via Clockwork Mod backup restore data .
Hello
I restored a nand backup that included whatsapp, unfortunately it didn't give me the restore from google Drive option after the sms verification, so all my medias are gone while on the cloud.
I also installed whatsapp twice between yesterday and today so I think whatsapp won't let me again for 24h that's why I wanted to see if I can restore a whatsapp Drive backup without the need of re-installing
You can, but this will install media files but not the conversations. You really need to re-install whatsapp
Nondroid or TitaniumBackup does not restore whatsapp correctly! For some reasons you should verify the account again and it would not be able to use local or cloud backup to restore them.
you should have made a backup in Google Drive before you install WA in New device, also install WA in New device from PlayStore or install from the APK then it will restore the cloud backup correctly,
FYI I've used oneplus switch for my new OP6T and I didn't select WA but it has copied it's data,
Conversations were restored byt not medias, I guess I will have to uninstall and reinstall from playstore.
Media are not backed up, they are stored locally, if you have set the WhatsApp media folder to be stored in Google cloud then you can have them again. It's one of the few apps that don't tolerate restauration. Installation is the only way to have a fully functional app.

And can you restore medias from google Drive without the uninstall reinstall thingy?
Look in Drive app if they are present, if they are there you can access them yes, on the cloud or by downloading them
Hi all,
I have S8 with stock android and many applications installed on it some of them are payed etc... Is it possible to fully backup my phone with all settings wallpapers, sms-es, apps and everything? Then to wipe all data on it to be like a new one, and after that to restore the image and the phone to be like today with all apps settings and eeeeverything
The idea is that phone will be used temporarily from another person for some weeks but i dont want to loose my apps.
Thanks
Hi,
As far as I know, if you're not rooted, you have to use Samsung Kies or another software on PC to backup everything.
Personally, I use SMS & Call log Backup, My App List to backup/restore all applications with Google Play (purchased items too) and I have to open every application I'm using to make individual exports to SD card if the application offers it but that's not efficient...
So I will root and then use Titanium backup to backup everything with one click (app + settings).
Sincerely,
