Imperfect finish under glass - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Questions & Answers

The edges of the plastic wrap that gives my phone its green color seems to be crimped around the edges. Take a look.

Definitely return it.

Phone is more than a month old. Just send it to get fixed under warranty?

Wait, is that the factory installed protective plastic sheet? Aren't we supposed to just rip that off the back? Mine wasn't perfect so I immediately yanked it, though I left the edge and front ones on.

I'm quite sure it would easily qualify for repair / replacement under warranty. Did you buy insurance? It could accidentally get run over by a truck... Just sayin.

scratched N1 screen....where can i buy a new one

Damn keys...left the phone in the same pocket....now i have a huge mark in the middle of the screen.
Any ideas where can I buy a new screen to change it
thx to all
That sucks. I thought the screen was suppose to be scratch proof.
Someone did mention cnn.cn for nexus one parts.
http://cnn.cn/shop/google-nexus-digitizer-p-8252.html
That should be what you're looking for.
Cool...nice to know that it can be replaced. I've got a scratch also...but it's in the black part top left corner...so doesn't interfere.
so i guess that scratchtest vid by the eyelash dude was just BS? i had a feeling it was too good to be true.

As soon as I got my phone I tried scratching it with knives and keys but yeah came out with the same outcome as eyelash man. However a few days ago I noticed a scratch in the lower corner of my screen don't know how I managed to scratch it.. Must have been my wolverine claws

That's just the digitizer or the glass that's exposed. There is no possible way you scratched the physical LCD.

jackie from seinfield?
it's scratch-proof but it doesn't mean it's scratch resistant.
I once scratched a glass phone screen using the slightly exposed chip on a credit card. If it's loose in your pocket with the phone then be careful, as if it doesn't scratch the screen it works like a cheese knife and removes the rubbery coating.
Probably not such an issue for USA users; last time I was over there you didn't have a chip-n-pin system.

Is your phone naked and will you keep it naked?

I was reading some threads people were getting scratches just laying it on a table and what not. i still have the plastic it came with, but now for me its coming off and i wont have a case here anytime soon.
How is your back holding up with you guys just keeping it naked? still crystal clear? i had an iP4 but it was always cased up.
Mine is good, but I also haven't put it to real world use yet. I will probably get a case whenever better options are available. I did just harder that Spigen screen protector though.

Yes and yes. I really hate cases. I see my phones as products I use. I never broke one, but a few had some little scratches. But hey, for me that's way better than a case.
The official bumper looks nice, but I still wont put in on my phone.

yea i feel the same way but due to the place i work at an automotive shop i keep my phone in my front shirt pocket. sometimes when i bend down it tends to slip out and i feel only thing that will protect that is a otter box or some sort of hard case.
Naked all the way. However i have always treated all my phones like my baby.

I am sternly against any protection for phones. I hate them. I don't pay hundreds of dollars for gadgets to hide them...lol
Just noticed a small scratch on the back of mine - it's very fine - probably from putting it down on a table.
I hate to think what it's going to look like in a few months. I'm going to take extra care from now on.

I'll put mine in a tpu case as soon as I can. If I keep it unprotected and life happens unexpectedly then I'd have to hide an ugly cracked back anyway. Either way I think it's funny when people criticize one another's choices when it comes to case/no case. To each their own!

I plan on keeping it in the silk bag my sunglasses came in until my best skins ever full body protector comes in. Haven't ordered a case yet, will probably order an androidified case soon tho.
Mine is naked. I've never liked cases or covers, but it is a very slippery device. It'll have to be a really nice looking case for me to cover my Nexus 4 up.

Galaxy nexus otterbox will it fit ?

Ok I'm curious if anybody knows if the Nexus 4 will fit in the Defender for the Galaxy Nexus . I just got my Nexus 4 in today and I want to put a full body case on it asap. I hate that we may have to wait until mid December for something similar.
uhh the buttons aren't in the same spot.. Nor is the speaker or Camera or headphone jack..

You might be better throwing it in a MOFI pouch or some sort of felt bag TBH.
I wouldn't put it inside an Otterbox on account that the silicone will be rubbing up against the phone where it is tight, could scuff the rim pretty bad.

I have the case and it does not work with N4 (does not close).

Nexus 4 Back glass shattered, won't power on.

Hey All,
The other night my phone back glass panel shattered while inside my pocket. I'm not sure when/how it happened. Now, I have a solid red light when charging and the phone will not turn on. I've tried various combinations of holding power + volume down, but to no avail.
I've got a ton of pictures and some saved games data I'm trying to get off the phone. Is there any way to do this?
Also, I called google and they are sending me a new one, but I didn't mention the broken glass. Do you think this will be an issue? I've also had it rooted for about 1 month now.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You will need to open the back cover and unscrew the two screw pins that are holding the battery. Flip the plate over and put it back in and screw them back together. You will need a T5 torque screwdriver and small philip screwdriver. The phone should power on now.

I don't see any reason why they shouldn't charge you for the second phone: the screen on the first shattered - mechanical damage, it has been opened - this is not allowed. All these will leave you without warranty.

Oh I did. The lady said broken glass voided the warranty. So I hung up and called back and just didn't mention it.
I don't get it, whats the warranty good for if shattered glass voids the warranty?...
the whole phone is practically a glass statue.

Exactly. The glass breaking randomly should be covered by the warranty, since it's the damn problem. They even updated the design to include nubs on the bottom of newer models to prevent the glass from touching any surfaces 100% flat.
I had to order some plastic tools to open the case. They should come tomorrow. The new phone hasn't came either, ordered Friday night.

it may be a manufacturers defect, but the fact the device is going to be tampered with, and opened up; at least from a business standpoint, they shouldnt have to replace it. i hope it all works out for you, but on their end, giving you the refund/replacement would be questionable business practice. they lose money from it but gain customer satisfaction... tough call lol.
Update:
My pry tools came into today and I was able to remove the back. I then removed 1 battery screw and I cannot remove the second one. It is so ridiculously tight that it started to strip the screw. I switched to a flat head that fit exactly and the screw bent the flat head. (cheap metal i guess)
So my plan now is to go to the hardware store and get a brand name 1.0 precision flat head which will hopefully work. If that doesn't work I think I have a small enough drill head to drill the screw out.
One problem after another... this phone is really pissing me off.

White 6P Back Discoloration

I had to take my skinomi off my phone because it had become so discolored from my jeans. Now I'm wondering if I should get another and have to replace it down the road as well from the same issue or go without. I want to know though if other users of the white model have noticed discoloration? I'd rather end up with blue skins than a blue phone, but if going naked avoids it altogether that'd be cool. Thanks
Have had a white naked for a year+ and looks pristine. No spots, no stains, no discoloration.

The phone looks nice naked but the aluminum body is prone to dents and dings if you aren't careful with the phone. When I was looking at used ones on EBay last summer it was hard to find one without dings, dents or scratches on the body.

I'm not too worried about that since I've been using the phone with nothing but a bumper and skin since it was released and it still looks pristine other than my skin getting discolored. Though I will say the issues you mentioned is one reason I still prefer plastic to metal phones.

Plus with plastic normally you have a removable battery.
I had the graphite and it got dings from dust getting in the case. I replaced the frame with the silver one and it looks great with the black finger print reader.

Yeah, just to loosen the glue, I don't remember it being too difficult. I used a hair dryer just because I wasn't at work. Also an easy way to get the glass and trim off are to use a razor blade put in at the antenna band and gently pry, must use heat!
