Galaxy nexus otterbox will it fit ? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok I'm curious if anybody knows if the Nexus 4 will fit in the Defender for the Galaxy Nexus . I just got my Nexus 4 in today and I want to put a full body case on it asap. I hate that we may have to wait until mid December for something similar.

uhh the buttons aren't in the same spot.. Nor is the speaker or Camera or headphone jack..

Obvious answer is obvious

I just want to know if it will fit and stay sealed. I work outdoors and I'm concerned about dust mostly.

You might be better throwing it in a MOFI pouch or some sort of felt bag TBH.
I wouldn't put it inside an Otterbox on account that the silicone will be rubbing up against the phone where it is tight, could scuff the rim pretty bad.

Thanks for the help. This would just be temporary until the correct ones come out.

How to get dirt out of sides?

Okay so not having a screen protector yet has already hurt me. The sides of my phone - in the tiny gap between the screen and the cradle - has already accumulated dust. Anyone have any suggestions on how to remove it?

I did something similar on my N1 to the same effect, I used scotch tape instead, seemed to work pretty well.
Think it is zagg who sells some stuff to get it out.

Tried it. Doesn't work.
Sticky note/scotch tape, though, sounds like a great idea.

I usually just use the edge of a piece of paper. This phone is a magnet for crap in between the cracks because of the raised edges.

+1 That's what I do and it works well.

Is your phone naked and will you keep it naked?

I was reading some threads people were getting scratches just laying it on a table and what not. i still have the plastic it came with, but now for me its coming off and i wont have a case here anytime soon.
How is your back holding up with you guys just keeping it naked? still crystal clear? i had an iP4 but it was always cased up.
Mine is good, but I also haven't put it to real world use yet. I will probably get a case whenever better options are available. I did just harder that Spigen screen protector though.

Yes and yes. I really hate cases. I see my phones as products I use. I never broke one, but a few had some little scratches. But hey, for me that's way better than a case.
The official bumper looks nice, but I still wont put in on my phone.

yea i feel the same way but due to the place i work at an automotive shop i keep my phone in my front shirt pocket. sometimes when i bend down it tends to slip out and i feel only thing that will protect that is a otter box or some sort of hard case.
Naked all the way. However i have always treated all my phones like my baby.

I am sternly against any protection for phones. I hate them. I don't pay hundreds of dollars for gadgets to hide them...lol
Just noticed a small scratch on the back of mine - it's very fine - probably from putting it down on a table.
I hate to think what it's going to look like in a few months. I'm going to take extra care from now on.

Better stick with HTC and Motorola then. These hundreds of dollars gadgets seem to break easily.

I'll put mine in a tpu case as soon as I can. If I keep it unprotected and life happens unexpectedly then I'd have to hide an ugly cracked back anyway. Either way I think it's funny when people criticize one another's choices when it comes to case/no case. To each their own!

I plan on keeping it in the silk bag my sunglasses came in until my best skins ever full body protector comes in. Haven't ordered a case yet, will probably order an androidified case soon tho.
Mine is naked. I've never liked cases or covers, but it is a very slippery device. It'll have to be a really nice looking case for me to cover my Nexus 4 up.

Nexus 4 w/out nubs - Case/Bumper Solution?

Hey guys,
I've bought a nexus 4 and this version came without nubs, causing a muffled sound on flat surfaces. Which is the best case or bumper that "fixes" this problem?
Thanks!

Might wanna go with the bumper.
Or if you like cases, try the Ringke Fusion. That one has a clear back and nubs at the corners.

I have both the official and poetic bumpers and I prefer the the poetic. slimmer profile, raised edges to protect screen and back. Plus, it costs only $10. Down side is it doesn't look as premium as the LG.

Nice, but both fixes the speaker "problem"?
Also bought the Ringke Fusion case wich lifts the phone a bit and sound is much better now. And as a case it is great, fits like a glove, offers good protection and has a clean transparant back.
Do note that if you buy the LG bumper, make sure it's from Google play store. It is known to have a design flaw that Google or LG has addressed just yet.
Throughout time, the bumper will crack near the usb port. Google will not replace it but give you a refund which takes up to three weeks.
So to the very least, you'll get a refund if it cracks rather than being out of 10-40 dollars

How I FIXED the slipperyness of the HTC One m8

I usually don't like to use cases, bought one for the m8. It made it bulky so i found a sleek way of gripping it. No company made griping product, just plain ol' electrical tape.
You can style (cut) how you want for your preference. I put it there because of the bottom three fingers that grip that part of the phone. It's sleek, none intrusive, actually does a very good job gripping. I can shake it and it will stay put. Photos should be attached. Tell me your thoughts

I guess because its cheap and can be used to fix anything....even though it looks trashy, its still functional and better than spending money to have it fixed correctly.
Looks good OP! I just ordered this... https://dbrand.com/shop/htc-one-m8. I ordered the matte black front and back. I had one on my m7 and really liked it.

Lol... It is a bit of an Americanism & joke, although one that is seated in truth...
Duct tape in America is used to affect many repairs, from simple tears in paper, to re-attaching bumper to automobiles & securing trunk lids (what the EU calls the boot). It is used to make or repair wallets, shoes & even for furniture repairs, not just for attaching ducting to plenum boxes or GRD cans.
The joke comes in because it is said that a redneck (slanderous term for blue collar worker or laborer) can fix anything with duct tape, & that if it can't be fixed with duct tape, then 'F' it, it's broken.

This may work well if you live somewhere cool year round, however, if you live anywhere its fairly hot and/or humid during the summer - then you know what happens to electrical tape. When it heats up - you lose the bond, then the tape will slide around leaving a sticky, slimy mess all over your phone/hand/pocket. Just a heads up for anyone looking to do this. If your phone lives indoors, however, I'm sure its a non-issue.

Not sure if u also considered the fact that phones can heat up. My m7 gets pretty hot sometimes like when gaming and charging (probably shouldn't) don't know if the m8 heats up though but then again where I live its 110 during summers, was 107 this week

Does the Xtremeguard back skin wrap ONLY around the back, or does it wrap around to the sides as well? I'm ideally looking for a skin that ONLY covers the back, which is for some reason surprisingly hard to find with the M8. Most skins wrap around the sides too. The idea I had was to use it with an edge only bumper case, and when a skin wraps around to the sides, it interferes with the fitment of the case. I had a aluminum edge bumper + back skin on the M7 and loved the setup.

White 6P Back Discoloration

I had to take my skinomi off my phone because it had become so discolored from my jeans. Now I'm wondering if I should get another and have to replace it down the road as well from the same issue or go without. I want to know though if other users of the white model have noticed discoloration? I'd rather end up with blue skins than a blue phone, but if going naked avoids it altogether that'd be cool. Thanks
Have had a white naked for a year+ and looks pristine. No spots, no stains, no discoloration.

The phone looks nice naked but the aluminum body is prone to dents and dings if you aren't careful with the phone. When I was looking at used ones on EBay last summer it was hard to find one without dings, dents or scratches on the body.

I'm not too worried about that since I've been using the phone with nothing but a bumper and skin since it was released and it still looks pristine other than my skin getting discolored. Though I will say the issues you mentioned is one reason I still prefer plastic to metal phones.

Plus with plastic normally you have a removable battery.
I had the graphite and it got dings from dust getting in the case. I replaced the frame with the silver one and it looks great with the black finger print reader.

Yeah, just to loosen the glue, I don't remember it being too difficult. I used a hair dryer just because I wasn't at work. Also an easy way to get the glass and trim off are to use a razor blade put in at the antenna band and gently pry, must use heat!
