So guys oneplus 7 pro is just around the corner(less than a months before resealed)and according to latest news it will be the most advanced and of course the most expensive version in oneplus history.
Personal talking after after my 9 month usage of 5T I'm returning back to Oneplus since skipped both 6/6T as I hate whatever notch shape inside screen.
The latest rumors saying about major upgrade over all previous oneplus devices.

Also OP7 Pro will offer stereo speakers as well type c 3.1 version.

Only way I'll switch to it if they fix all the issues that's been plaguing them since the first device.
SW and Sources need to improve too..
Having a HTC phone every year for almost 2 decades, finally switched to the 6T. I have no complaints about OnePlus other than the camera software. Easily solved by switching to GCam. I am looking forward to the 7 Pro. Full screen, QHD with 90hz refresh. Pop up camera, I don't take a thousand selfies a day and welcome it. No damn worrying about it breaking, too slow or getting lint in there. I take care of my devices so if it does have curves sides, awesome. I use Shortcutter a lot so that would extra real estate for me and maybe a nice side panel notification area.
You might as well buy a Samsung Galaxy s10 for the price a op7 pro will cost,
Have a OnePlus 6T at the moment but it is pretty boring with no new/needed features ever added.
Looking at the Samsung a70/a80 now as being better and more affordable than the direction Oneplus are going

Well you should know that for many people it's not matter of how much cost one device compared to another but they are looking and take attention for a more important differentation between devices.
For example oneplus a very respective user base target group they don't care for Sammy or Huawei or Apple at all.
They don't care for dealing with One UI or EMIU or ios no matter they cost.
They are simple loving and prefer Oxygen and near stock android experience or simple prefer oneplus device because of the freedom brings.
Another reason is because many users hate notch or punch hols and prefer full screen experience.
So why should Sammy or Huawei be a choice for them??
Simple It is not all matter of cost or in other words I could say that some give more value to things that may have less value to other people.

Nope, this is clearly where I get off the OnePlus train... Popup camera that just seems like is going to break, I still miss my head phone jack way more than I thought I would, if I'm going to keep paying more and more for a phone, why am I going to keep compromising...

You couldn't pay me to take a Samsung.
90 Hz refresh rate , UFS 3.0 storage, 4000 mAh with 30W charging, OxygenOS...."quite tasty".
And then no ingress protection, pop-up camera, not so useful 5G(yet) but higher price tag for it...not so tasty.
Op7 lookin boring ish, 7 pro does sounds cool from the leaks etc, but if they push it over 700 quid , no thank u, whole idea behind op was affordable devices with flagships specs etc, got a feeling that 7 pro is only a 5G model... Hope im wrong
I would take only if they release one pro model without 5G.. I wouldn't pay $100-$200 more for 5G which isn't ready yet...
Nope. I have decided to upgrade every 2-3 years at least. 5g won't be ready for another 1-2 at least so no point. Very happy with 6T and the support it's getting at xda

Definitely ,the whole 5G thing is stupid for most users (by far majority ) can't avail of the technology yet.
Why drive up prices with such useless feature just to say OnePlus is one of first with 5g enabled device,
what BS

There will be three devices.
7
7 Pro
7 Pro 5G
I have no desire to switch.
I just got my 6T at the end of last year.
7 = NO !!! (they say it look the same like 6t)
7 Pro = Yes.
7 Pro 5G = ?!?... 5g not ok for now. = BIG price.
99.9% will be 3 variant.
1. Regular familiar to 6T design with upgrade SOC as basic differentation with 6T
2. Pro with premium features but without 5G
3. Pro the same as the second but with 5G and very limited availability(2-3 country in Europe will be released not in US through)
Of course I'm only interesting on Pro version but without 5G as totally useless for 1-2 years at minimum.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
So, why switch now if 5G will be ready in 1-2 years? If you have 6T you are good until 5G is ready. By then there will be plenty of 5G phones and prices will go down.
Don't get sucked in now into new features.
Phones are very expensive these days, save your money or put in Roth IRA, pay yourself first
As someone that owned an htc thunderbolt when Verizon's 4g network went live. Man the battery was killed on that 4g. Wondering if the same battery killing will happen on the 5g

That's why everyone stated they will be leaning towards the 7 Pro withOUT 5G.
Nope. OP6T works, and this new one will be more expensive, and not have any substantial benefits, that would get me to buy it.
More power, not needed, brighter screen, not needed, fancy design not needed. For me, a phone is a tool. An extension of work. After work, unless someone calls me, I rarely touch it. It's "just a phone".
I know some get caught up in the newest fancy design & style, but, to me, it's "just a phone".
I am nearly 100% I will purchase the OnePlus 7 Pro (non-5G version). Specs / 90Hz display seems awesome!

It's been a while since the ZF2 is released.
ZF2 is not a flagship killer. It was never advertising as such. The selling point of the ZF2 is the biggest bang for the buck.
So, why did you buy it? Did the phone impressed you in those aspects?

No I only bought it cause I know and trust Asus as a brand and as far as updates go it's been pretty good

Bang for the buck, I came from S2 then S4. When the S6 came out at exorbitant contract price and no micro sd slot, I looked around and did the maths. The Zenfone 2 gave me twice the ram and 4 times the storage of my S4, it was faster, gave me the micro sd slot that the S6 lacked.
On top of that I could get it for less than half the price of a S6, that meant that going sim only and buying the ZF2 I will have saved enough on my old contract terms to cover the cost of the phone in 7 months(or 5 compared to the S6 contract).
I concur with BigDavy. This phone has such bang for the buck. The specs are better than phones at twice the price. Still loving it after 8 months.

found the incredible (almost literally).
i bought this phone because of a reviewer saying, that this phone has very good cell reception.
The house I live in right now (temporarily) has very thick stone walls (around 100cm, 400yrs old house) and many phones I tried, struggled to get 2G reception (Xperia Z2, Medion x5004, HTC One m8 to name a few..)
When the ASUS.. well.. I still cant believe.. it has 3 constant bars for 2g (others had barely one) AND in most parts of the house also 4G LTE. that was incredible.
I know that the Intel chipset isn't very battery friendly, but now that I tried it.. it is snappier than a snapdragon 800 series. my next phone? anything with an Intel chipset.
I moved from Galaxy S2, it had Dual 1.2GHZ (max over clock to 1.6 but it will burn the chip soon) with 1GB Ram. So you guess what, to me it felt like moving from a dying horse to a Lamborgini.
It's really incredible that I got this holy awesomeness for $200 ;D Unfortunately, there isn't too much support for the 5" models around here, so I selected the second option. I would like to see more support for it

My place too has bad reception; but the dude abides with his ZF2.
I came from a Samsung S3 that was slower than a wet week
As the ZF2 isnt sold here in Australia I took a chance and it has turned out okay....I have had one problem of the camera not working but that was fixed under warranty (took 3 weeks to get it back) but the phone is powering along now...just waiting for the Marshmallow update to come to see whether I put a custom ROM on it or not...

I'm very satisfied. Moved from an iphone 5 to the 550ML (Z008) just after it was launched. Wanted the 551 with 4GB, 2.3ghz and 1080p but had to settle for the cheaper one with 2GB, 1.8ghz and 720p (in Japan ASUS only sold the 551 at inflated prices, and it was also a bit overpriced from importers). The 1.8ghz cpu is plenty fast enough for my needs and the 720p sceen is better than I expected. 2GB RAM is a bit short when using the stock 5.0 firmware that has memory management issues, but is plenty when using CM. I love the size, the feel of the phone in my hand and its snappy ux performance. Bang for the buck, even at a slightly high importer price, has been incredible, and going unlocked has enabled me to switch to an MNVO and save an absolute fortune every month in carrier charges (the phone had basically paid for itself in about four months). I'm now pretty tempted by the astonishing value some Xiaomi or LeTV devices offer, but have to keep reminding myself that I love my ZF2 and it still has plenty of life in it. Will use it until the battery starts going.
I was using G3 when I bought Zenfone 2 (I used Zenfone 5 before G3), and I have to say that Zenfone 2 will be my last phone made by ASUS, too much bugs, slow update (even 2 years old G3 got Android 6 for a month!).
ASUS is just promoting their new phones, they don't care about their old customers.
At first, i hesitated to buy the ASUS ZenFone 2 as it uses an Intel chipset, but after going through every review on the internet, i made my mind. This is the phone i was looking for. Best in class performance and features from a famous brand known worldwide for just under $200. I wanted to buy the 4gb ram model, but was tight on budget and opted for 2gb model. Was quite happy with my buy. Now i'm even more happy with the excellent custom rom support it has got, gets the same attention as the higher end model.
Just "IN SEARCH OF INCREDIBLE" for official OS update (MM 6.0.1) from ASUS.
64 bit processor + 4gb ram + 5.5 screen (optimal size in my opinion) + decent storage capacity + storage expansion + reasonable price.
Upgraded from Galaxy Note II.
Met my expectations so far (have it since Nov. 2015), only two problems - when I receive calls, people start hearing me with a delay, and the phone has been bent a little

anything good (price & features) about ASUS ZF 2 except too much bloatware & rear speaker (crackling problem), so far ASUS ZF 2 is the best for the buck
Scored it 8. -2 for...
-Current gaming performance -- early videos show that this is a gaming beast for it's price. Unfortunately, I don't experience such smoothness right now, even after reflashing and playing on performance mode.
-Battery drain from the latest update -- Not sure if it's my fault or what, but I'm getting massive wakelocks from Calendar Storage. I think that's the culprit for my battery drain. **Already did factory reset and reflash, same thing**

With this phone it was never about finding incredible - it was about finding a good phone for less than $600, and this phone is great considering the price
1. I have a Nexus 6P and I think its not worth the upgrade
2. The price - at 1000 dollars this thing will set you back a hefty penny
3. No OIS. The phone doesnt have OIS, but it has EIS which uses software to stabilize the image
4. No front facing speakers
5. Not water resistant. if they are competing with Apple, why would they leave this out?
6. Same battery size as my nexus 6p
7. Since its a pixel phone it might be locked down like an IPhone (not confirmed but there is a chance)
8. 4GB RAM. Most phones nowadays have 4GB of RAM
9. No official updates after 2 years. This was one of the things that turned me off as well. They released this phone as a competition to Apple yet they will support their phones for less years.
10. The bezel. Its big, with nothing useful on it
11. 5.5 inch screen. Even the nexus 6p has a 5.7 inch screen.
12. Mono speakers
13. Pixel Launcher is not really that good. I'm sure most people will go back to google launcher because it's more customizable
I am sure there are more stuff to list. but these are what convinced me to cancel my pre order.
I guess ill just keep my 6P and see what happens next year.
This was all known in advance of the pre-order page going live. Why did you even bother ordering in the first place?
It was all just an illusion
Same. I find it hilarious how they position it at iPhone pricing, and then leave out features that the iPhone has like water resistance and official updates for years
I'm about to cancel mine too...

The BMW-designed Axon 7 ($400) even has the SAME 5.5" 1440p AMOLED Samsung display the Pixel XL uses.
And has award-winning audio capability with front facing speakers.
And REAL rear camera OIS.
It's also Daydream VR capable... (just like the Pixel XL)
Plus, it's slightly smaller phone (slimmer bezels!)
Google should have bought like 1 million ZTE Axon 7 phones for $400 each, slapped their Nougat software on, sold them as the "Pixel XL" for $500! It would STILL be $300 - $400 cheaper than the real pathetic Pixel XL and be a much better phone! I would buy 3 of those right now.

Not pre-ordering and will never order - there is very little to like about this phone.
I've had all the Nexus phones with exception of the S starting with the One up until and including the 6 (which I'm still happily using) .
For me, Google is not going in the right direction. I'd take the Axon over this junk, although I think I'd rather have a 6" screen, so will consider the Mate 8 or the 9. Or maybe just hold on to the 6 for while longer.

So what are they going to do, just not give an update to the Pixel? Does that mean that Nougat is going to stop having updates?
No change regards updates.
Somewhat disappointing given the fact they are trying to sell this phone on a strong software slant.

Except who knows when the Axon is going to receive Nougat, and when O is released what are the chances ZTE is going to push an update. Even without OIS the camera is still going to be a lot better on the Pixel as well.
IMO it's really annoying that Google isn't supporting Pixel phones for at least 3 years with OS updates. For that price point it should be AT LEAST 3 years and 4 years of security updates. Hell, inexpensive ChromeOS devices are supported for 5 years.
It's getting really hard to recommend an Android phone to a family member or friend. Especially when VZW is the only carrier who is selling the Pixel.

3. No OIS. The phone doesnt have OIS, but it has EIS which uses software to stabilize the image - Still has the best camera on the market so does no OIS really matter?
4. No front facing speakers - Not something I've ever had or wanted. I've always listened to music via external speakers because they're better than ANY smartphone speakers, front facing or not
5. Not water resistant. if they are competing with Apple, why would they leave this out? - Never needed this either. Also there is evidence to suggest that making phones water resistant with tight compartments is lending to phones blowing up recently
6. Same battery size as my nexus 6p - But SD810 is way way way less battery efficient
7. Since its a pixel phone it might be locked down like an IPhone (not confirmed but there is a chance) - I ordered from VZW, so yah mine will 100% be locked down. Why don't I care? The last time I rooted a phone was the Galaxy S6, I think. You guys still do that? Why?
8. 4GB RAM. Most phones nowadays have 4GB of RAM - Plenty for a stock Android device
9. No official updates after 2 years. This was one of the things that turned me off as well. They released this phone as a competition to Apple yet they will support their phones for less years. - In 1 year I will be on to a new device. My upgrade pattern has typically been 6mon...
10. The bezel. Its big, with nothing useful on it - Keeps you from accidentally pressing things on the sides ala S7 Edge/Note7 and the chin allows better balancing and holding of the device for taking photos
11. 5.5 inch screen. Even the nexus 6p has a 5.7 inch screen. - I'm good with 5.5" in it's current footprint, see above comment

I'd like to hear more of your thoughts...
I get that people like different things for different reasons but to me it's as good a buy as any other phone on the market that was intended for the US. Since my personal opinion is that the Note7 is crap, I was actually seriously considering getting an iPhone 7 Plus. I'm super super super glad that this phone was announced because I didn't really want an iPhone but was going to bite the bullet since it's next best thing imo.
Really the only thing interesting to me about the s8 is battery life because of the 835, although TouchWiz historically is a hog and form factor being a little smaller than the G6. Anyone else? The iris scanner is interesting but I'm not sure how it is faster than fingerprint. Could in theory use a JOD on it. The G6 is also more durable but the battery life doesn't look promising. They were so eager to beef up resolution but they just killed battery
It might have the 835 (or Exynos depending on region), but it also has a smaller battery than the G6.
The fact the Galaxy phones have AMOLED screens is a deal breaker for me, so I won't buy another as long as they are using that technology.
Will stick to LG only. Not going to the overrated Samsung
Samsung doing 3 months warranty replacement on S8. That's crazy marketing. I guess they have to build consumer trust again.

I am now in the market for the S8, I hope VZW gets root. The G6 has a major lack of features - including something as universal as a notification LED.
I was HUGE LG fanboy. My whole family has their phones as I serve as their personal IT helper lol. G3, G4, G5. Not anymore. I still have my G3 running fulmics.
No replaceable battery, older CPU, lack of other feature sets and getting expensive. Maybe the V30 will address all of this. The S8 isn't perfect at all, but it sure looks like the winner of this round - 2017 edition.

The spec heads will be stuck on the 835 in the S8...as for me? I couldn't care less. Day to day performance will be indistinguishable between the two... If anything, the G6 will be snappier then the S8 unless Sammy has done some serious rework of touchwiz.

I agree. I've been using a G5 for about 4 months because my 2 year old Note 4 was dying, and the G5 was half-off. But overall, I liked my Note 4 more. Two things that kill the G6 for me is the lack of the LED Notification Light and still used LCD (but is said to be far better than the one on the G5).
But I'll have to see what the price difference is, as th G6 does for about $650-700, and if th S8 is pushing $200 more, that is a tough sell for me.

It might have the 835 (or Exynos depending on region), but it also has a smaller battery than the G6.
The fact the Galaxy phones have AMOLED screens is a deal breaker for me, so I won't buy another as long as they are using that technology.

I hate AMOLED so much, especially the white colour temperature (slightly yellowish)... I really love the iPhone screen colour (and oh dear, I hate iOS). And the screen comes close to iPhone colour is LG's
Still using S7 Active (mainly for battery capacity), I'm looking forward to V30, hope it has bigger battery, at least 4000 as S7 Active. I'll buy one, immediately.
And by the way, android is lagging than iOS, but TouchWiz did make things worse than, I don't say LG framework is more beautiful, but compare my experience with many devices of both Samsung and LG (as well as other brands), Samsung has the laggier UI vs. LG (same processor and RAM)
My last Samsung device (Note 4) just recently died on me (wont turn on or charge) so no, im done with Samsung phones

Only if you sign an NDA to say it never happened of course.
Going on from my previous post, as I'm in the UK I can't get SD835 version anyway. I'd rather have an SD821 than Exynos.
Is it just me or do the "metal" sides just look like cheap plastic?
In fact the whole thing looks plastic. I know it might be different in the hand, but it looks like the first few gens of Galaxy S (I had the 1st one).
After watching the presentation Im glad I went with the G6. I will get the Note 8 when it comes out but these curved screens just suck. I dont understand the purpose and it makes the device substantially more fragile. I will say though, DeX looks freakin awesome. The whole presentation was really odd and the people in the crowd at the end was creepy. Price wise I'd say they put it right where it belongs so kudos for not hitting that $1000 mark.

Just looked at the first look of the phone. I also feel soo good going with the G6. I might be looking hopeful towards the note. Seems like the same aspect ratio of the g6 but curved display, which is terrible to protect and use. Fingerprint sensor is a joke, and bixby look very incapable as of yet compared to google now! WOW WOW WOW. Close call!
I love the hardware on the ph-1 to the point the 5t feels like a phone from 1 or 2 years ago and I love the software on the 5t for the most part. Software is what you live with day to day and PH-1 has its issues. Screen doesn't respond always camera thing (why can i not shoot 16:9 photos argh) prefer oled but the lcd is pretty stunning. So i don't know what to do. Can somebody that really has really spent some time with the PH-1 and maybe know about the 5t tell me why I shouldn't or should keep that over 5t or will the little annoyances just get to me eventually. BTW huge user of AA so consider that as well.
Example of what i'm looking for when going to websites like Androidcentral the website takes advantage of the entire screen (the top) but where before i could could on the address and drag down to get to card view, on any site that does this I can have to click on the little card button...annoying. Or 5t i can zoom in full screen in youtube why can't i on ph-1. This is what i'm looking for. Thanks.
Oh and one other thing what pixel camera apk do i need to download to get better pictures/more options. I know there are ports and variation of ports some require some setup...looking for simple that give some level of hdr and if it's the one with full setup what setup should i have and keep. I know there are other pages but there are other phones million of responses constant update with in threads as opposed to updating the OP, thanks.
Honestly if your network supports the 1+5T stay with it.

any more insight...it does. Consider this too i guess though money not really an object in this situation but OP5t with accessories about 650 (couple charges cover) Essential 399 with free 360 care which i will be quickly selling so for $300 bucks or so I for the phone which would allow me to quickly jump into something new in the spring when new stuff starts showing up again.
I had a OP5, and I know that for me custom ROM support and software are really missed, but I love the PH-1. This phone just looks and feels so much better for the price, I am willing to wait a while to see more dev support and official Oreo release. OnePlus has upset me in that they are now releasing 2 phones a year. I have had all their phones, but I think I will be taking a break from OP and just keeping the PH-1 for a while...
OP5T wins with the software. They have been working on their OS for almost 3 years so they know what they are doing. On the other hand, there is no other phone that looks and feels like the Essential, hardware is the best handsdown. There are some software issues, but to be honest I have non of it, everything works fine. I use mine in Mexico and in the US.
If you have good cellular reception with the PH1 I think you should keep it.
I personally am not a fan of OnePlus. If money truly isn't an issue, then I would go with the S8+. You can almost always find deals from Samsung on sites like Slickdeals and get it for a comparable price to 5t.
OnePlus has made it abundantly clear they don't care for their customers. I had three OnePluses since their first, and I can tell you first-hand that they are a terrible company. They don't like to honor their warranty and they make you pay for the shipping, and there's quite often problems with their phones... Then they only offer a year-and-a-half support for each device.
Essential has already stated that this phone will be updated for a very long time, especially since it's their first. I personally believe only things can go up from here, and their continuous support has proven that notion.
But it's up to you obviously go with whatever you like most.
Until recently I was on the market for a new phone. I had settled down on two choices: the PH-1 and OP 5T. Given that I had previously bought a OP2, I was trending towards a OP5T. But I ended getting the PH-1. Primarily because of OP's sofware update policy. It is downright unacceptable.
A couple of years ago, I bought my dad the OPT (OnePlus Two). They did not bother to push out Nougat update though Nougat arrived just a few months after the OPT. Ultimately I installed LineageOS on the OPT. But OP's software upgrade policy drove me away. Once bitten, twice shy.
One another reason I am disappointed with OP is their "no" to Treble support for existing devices as they upgrade to Oreo. Atleast they were straight about it, unlike other fiasco's like the data collection & push ads etc. Don't get me wrong. Not bashing OP for nothing. We love the OPT. Hardware still runs great with the LineageOS ROM.
But this time its the Essential PH-1. They have shown commitment to upgrade to Oreo with the beta on 11/14. Also some of the very recent updates to FW and to the camera app, the camera performance has improved significantly. The new portrait mode does bokeh very nicely. I would keep the PH-1!
i like to tinker with software so 5t has me interested at the same time I no longer want to root so really what it comes is is a bonus...i am leaning toward essential atm. WIll drive one for 1 week then the other for 1 week and see where i land. I hear you about the OP fiascos with the op2 etc i guess not to worried there. Not sure I like Rubin being away from essential i feel like he is the one pushing the boundaries there. I do like how quickly they have been updating...hope the wireless dock is not stupid...1 thing i really hate is no qi charging. I don't like samsung so that is out flirted with LG but don't like it enough to justify the price, if it was stock i would buy it all day long for what they charge.

The one plus has a better screen, more responsive digitizer, historical better development, longevity as a company, better camera, bigger battery, smoother release.
But.....
At that price differential the PH-1 probably wins out. My opinion that the 1+ is better assumes the 450$ essential VS a 550 1+
I'm having a hard time justifying keeping the PH1 and not getting the 5T. I still have my OP3 as a backup and I like everything better, but the size. I mean, build quality of the PH1 is amazing, but not the screen. Besides, the only time I ever get to admire the build quality is when I take it out of the case, which I won't go without. Even though my OP3 is 1½ yr old, the fluidity of the software with that screen is just so much better, not to mention the haptic feedback is perfect, not like the stupid overly strong haptic feedback on the PH1. I just love the size of the PH1, it's perfect. OP, I don't blame u asking for help making this decision. It is a really tough one. If I had to though, I would lean towards the 5T.

Ive had the op2 and op5. When I bought the op2, I felt the value of my purchase was solid for 2 years, it was the best value phone hands down. Now oneplus had an upward trend of rising prices that suddenly peter out bc of some competition from the essential. On top of the fact that their T releases always are better than their main numbered releases just seems extremely counter intuitive. On top of all the negative press they've been getting, makes me really wonder about the integrity of the company. Could their prices be cheaper seeing as how premium the essential is in the same price range? Did they really not have the technology to push a bezeless phone on their op5 release? I no longer trust oneplus, and will reevaluate the phone market in 2 years or so when I'm ready for an upgrade. My op5 got stolen, and so far I'd love to keep using essential as long as they stick around in the same price range.
I always rock a 50 dollar otterbox on my ops, but so far have been just using a tempered glass protector with no problems. So factor in a 128 gb phone with otterbox would put the phone close to 600 whereas I paid 400 for the essential. The essential over op5t is a no brainer for me.
Last Monday morning I ordered the one +5T,then I seen the Amazon offer for the PH1 and it was a no-brainer ,I immediately ordered the PH1 and cancelled the 5T.Software can be tweaked and with the amount of updates essential are pushing ,it's only going to get better.Hardware your stuck with once purchased and nothing comes close to the PH1
Combat same story with me except I choose to receive both then decide. I don't care about the recent bad press of OP every manufacture has some kind of data collection and every manufacture has had this issue including Samsung...op responded and adjusted. I also don't care that op upgrades fast somebody always does on monthly basis might as well be op.
I do care however that op didn't come with Oreo basically allows op to not support the device as long and stop at 9 instead of 10. In fairness the phone will be gone by then but this kind of strategy from a company frustrated me more then the other two issues listed above.
PH-1. Design and build. Semi-pure Android. Ridiculous $145 price. Possibly unfounded hope for Essential as a company I'd like to see stick around. And I rarely take pictures of anything that isn't a whiteboard or my thumb.
And last but not least:

The bootloader can be unlocked with one command. TWRP doesn't support dynamic partitions yet so we don't have a working recovery, nothing OnePlus can do about that. You can still get root by flashing a magisk patched boot.img and flash custom roms via fastboot.

How so? You might want to check out the Pixel 3 XL boards. We don't have TWRP but development is moving along just fine.
I have to say, I'm amazed at the amount of negativity I've encountered on these boards, so far. I've been modding phones for almost 20 years. Since before smart phones. The original Moto Razr started me down this road. Anyone remember motomodders dot com? I have no brand loyalty. I'll buy whatever the latest hot rod phone is that I like. The 8 Pro will be my first OnePlus and I hope what I've come across in the very short time these boards have existed isn't indicative of the OnePlus community as a whole. With those kinds of attitudes man would have never landed on the moon.

I agree with you. Negativity is way up high those days. I am a long term oneplus user and xda member and I haven't encountered that much negative energy here before. Maybe it has to do with all that corona lockdown. Hopefully...

I feel you there mate and no it's not, as with any public gathering there's good and bad, subjective opinions and gripes, but there's also a tonne of talent and persistence here so I think you'll be happy.
Oneplus from my experience having owned the 1+5 is a stellar device and the is a plethora of things to like but it's in a very unassuming way, my only hang up was the camera which back then only had EIS, having seen some reviews I think they've nailed it this year and for the price type getting the best of the best, any low opinions would simply be nitpicking at this point, but until we see the first wave come in it'll be hard to tell.
Personally I'm optimistic, everything from the RMA experience I've had (3 days returned) to the crazy performance of their devices and the community I didn't time around, all of which have been superb, then again I did get a Huawei device after my OnePlus, lesson learned

Glad to hear it. As I mentioned elsewhere stock pretty much suits me now days, but I have to have Adaway and theming throughout, and I still want the option to ROM if I so choose. So, I will always buy unlockable phones until the day it's no longer an option.
Just to let you know I wasn't being negative in anyway. I have had the 7 pro, now 7t pro and have ordered the 8 pro. I'm not a fanboy but Samsung's exynos is inferior and there long updates annoy me. Pixels just haven't cut it for me so ONEPLUs have been good for me, Especially since the pro with the QHD screen etc.
I was just saying if you look at the 7 pro ROM thread compared to the 7t pro, it's a big difference and I think no twrp is a reason for that . I haven't even bothered rooted my 7t pro, first time I haven't rooted etc in years

No TWRP has been a speed bump, but fortunately we do have devs who work around it, and it forces us hobbyists to learn a little bit more about ADB and fastboot. Learning new things like those is never a bad thing. About 35 minutes to go before we can order here in the States. Can't wait and I hope you enjoy yours. Cheers!

It was a limited launch. I'm sure they'll have plenty of stock come actual launch day on April 29th. I've bought the 3, 5T, 6, & 6T all on launch day and never had it run out this fast. I'm sure it'll be fine then.
Anyways, I bought two (one for me and one for my wife). We were both set for Ultramarine Blue. At the last second she goes hmm maybe the green one. I had the two blue in the cart at 12:00pm on the dot and already logged into my OP account. I tried to add the green and it immediately changed to available in 14 days. I then quickly hit submit order on my two blue ones and after I got my order confirmation for humor I went back to the main page (I had it saved in my PC clip board) all the phones were sold out by 12:04pm. Insane!!!
Can't wait for next week!
