Hello everyone, I try not to ask these kind of questions since people have already asked similar questions.
But I decided to verify some of the steps to follow rooting V20 on internet and I got confused a little bit.
Information about phone:
V20 Variant: H990 TR Single Sim
Android Version: Oreo (8.0.0)
Security patch: November 1,2018
Now from internet, it is as easy as rooting any other phone. ADB and TWRP, then proceed to your favourite ROM.
But when I look at DirtySanta it tells another story. (Also I have no idea if I will ever need KDZ writer)
So can anyone with H990 tell me how they have rooted their phone? After rooting I think it won't be a problem to go for Lineage 16.0
Thanks for reading!

Just follow the dirty santa thread for the H990, almost certain you'll have to flash a kdz to an earlier version to take advantage of the dirty santa exploit

Hey guys,
I'm a noob when it comes to firmware stuff, only had some experience with rooting/flashing lg g2, which was pretty much straight forward. As of now, I have owned p9 lite for around half a year and I've grown tired of EMUI so I've decided to root my phone, install TWRP and flash something else. The only problem is that I'm not really sure if the processes of rooting/flashing presented in most tutorials are applicable to my phone, because the build number contains "ITA" and I haven't seen anything like that before. Does that change anything or can I just not bother and follow the standard procedures?
Regards,
Paul

I think you should not encounter any difficulty rooting your phone indifferently from the firmware you come from (however it matters if it's emui 4 or emui 5) it matters if you want to install roms, in this case it's recommended rebranding the phone in a popular and supported region (like C432).

Thanks for the answer. Now I'm running emui 5. So, if I want to install LOS 14.1, I just need to root, rebrand and then I can flash the rom?

Sorry for late answer, I don't know if you already fixed your problem but yeah you need to rebrand, flash C432B370 (dual SIM) or B371 (single SIM) and then follow the procedure to flash Los 14.1
Rooting isn't necessary because all of those things don't require user root.
I have an LG V20 H990 & I understand in order to unlock the bootloader & root the phone the security patch needs to be pre 2017. However, I'm unable to find the correct firmware & region for my V20 that predates 2017. Any help is appreciated.

Yes not much advice or help for the H990 V20. I wouldn't meddle with it if I'm honest, especially if it's your daily driver. Just install a firmware from a different region but same model number.

You'll find all needed information in the first part of this tutorial (just skip the rooting part):
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5-plus/how-to/how-to-root-moto-g5-plus-t3579659/post74673573
Remember to flash your last used stock firmware or a newer one, available latest firmwares for reteu/retus are 93-4 (january security patch) and 92-8 for retin (march security patch). There's also a tutorial to relock your bootloader if you wish to:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5...der-moto-g5-plus-indian-t3638835/post73082304
It has to be said that a lot of users coming from 64bit custom ROMs are losing their voLTE, 4G or even IMEI when returning to stock.
If you have a nandroid backup of your stock ROM (you better have one) restore it, that would be the safest way. Or at least restore the EFS partition.
If you don't have a nandroid make one of EFS from your custom ROM and restore it if you run into one of the mentioned problems after flashing your stock firmware.

Edit.
Correction: Indian firmware is named 92-8 for march security patch not 93-8 which is for europe and US.

Do you know if i can relock bootloader. I unlocked it while i was on 93-8 reteu, that firmware is not available anywhere, i have full nandroid backup of it but when i restore stock firmware i still can't unlock bootloader? Is my only way to wait for 93-8 firmware to come up?

Yes. Without the firmware you are going to flash (or restore) there's no way to relock the BL.
You could try to use the indian variant which is uploaded (92-8) but that may cause trouble, the inability to receive and install future OTA or other software related issues.
The best way should be waiting for the 93-8 firmware.

Hi, i have a Moto G4 XT1622 running on Android 7 build NPJS25.93-14-18, security patch 1 april 2018.
I wish to upgrade to the latest Android possible, is it possible by rooting and upgrading after?
I am searching for a good guide that explains step by step how to root my phone and how to upgrade.
What i can do with my phone rooted?
What kind of improvements i will see?
I will lost all my data?
Is it possible to recover if something goes wrong?
Please post the best guide to do so, down here. Thanks
