Phone Calls with Galaxy Tab E T377W or T377A - Samsung Galaxy Tab E Questions & Answers

Are there any mods to make phone calls with the galaxy tab E?
I am new to this rooting/modding world of Android so I am just seeing if anyone knows if it is possible or not. I had read previous posts of others getting voice calls working on older galaxy tabs flashing the modem firmware.

I don't know about flashing modem software on these Tab E's, but a simple work around is to install Google Voice.
It will ring to your tablet and let you make phone calls from it as well.
Lineage OS does come with the ability to make calls built in. however, it will still use your cell provider's network. If you're not paying for phone service with a Tab, will it work?

Verizons tab

Can the verizon version of this device also send texts? Does this mean there is hope for phone functionality for it as well?

There are MANY posts about call functionality for ALL versions of the tab regardless of the carrier for the USA version. Currently people are working on the solution as most give thumbs up for voice (with right plan of course) capabilities but only on edge speeds. I've been reading that some are "supposedly" getting 3g from their carriers but that still remains to be confirmed by many people on the same carrier.
Shadow other threads...as my humble feeling is there is already a massive flood of "will my tab make voice calls".
I have been, and in fact others have asked the same question... only to be steamrolled by the shear volume of posts regarding the T mobile version.
The focus right now is on the T-Mobile version as it is similar to the already phone capable international GSM version of the Galaxy Tab.
It will take a lot more effort and time to figure out the Verizon and Sprint (both CDMA) versions.
Yeah I completely understand that. But is the hardware even there to do it? This is why I lead the question with one about texting, as I would think if the device can text (not emulate texting via internet, aka google voice), then voice would be possible.
You can indeed send messages with the Verizon tab, and I believe phone calling is possible with some mods, as part of the activation is an automated dialin to verizon. Unfortunately, Verizon charges on a per text msg basis ONLY for the tab. There is, currently, no unlimited text option.

[Q] Disable Voice calling on Arabic Tab

Is there a way i can disable calling from my tab? i would like to use the 3G data only with no voice, I guess i can try flashing the American Firmware or ROM but i dont want to do that since it will no longer read Arabic. But if there is any way where i can strap the voice drivers that will be good.
I believe you should be able to do that by asking your provider for a SIM with data only
Unfortunatly they dont get it, i tried several times but they are so stupid.
No actual help with the main issuehere, but a question or two.
If you never give out the number, what's the difference in having it there or not if your carrier isn't going to give you a SIM that bills differently? You can choose not to call out, and I'd imagine if you never give the number out the chances/frequency of random wrong number calls is pretty low. I guess I'm just wondering what benefit you'd gain by disabling voice.
Your best bet is to flash a modem from another tab. I mean on my T-Mobile voice is disabled and 3g works.
From the Tab.

Rotohammer came up with a modem Switcher that can switch between 3G or 2G+phone. The instructions are listed here.

Making Calls might be possible...

Galaxy Tab P6800 runs hineycomb, but calling is possible on it.
If a ripped calling APK would be ported to GTP7500, it might be possible to make calls from the tab.

I make and receive calls all the time. It's a combination of Google Voice and Groove IP.

Can anyone help. What tablets can be used to make phone calls

Have research Samsung tablet manuals and only 3G/4G models but does not say that you can dial.
Note 10.1 3g version you can make and receive phone calls... Apparently the galaxy tab 10.1 series also can but the dialler is hidden and you need to patch the system to get it...
Samsung Galaxy Tab 7" - 1st tab - can also make and receive calls, but then it was basically an oversized Galaxy S..
Note 10.1 n8000 can make calls
Make calls on any tablet with groove ip, if u have a Google voice account.
Assuming most people would have their cell phones with them when using their tablets why would anyone want to make a phone call with their tablet?

Good in a pinch when you don't or the battery dies... Also good so you are carrying 1 device instead of 2.....

Because u can..
I don't keep my phone on me in the house. Usually it's on the table by the front door. I can hear it ring but it almost always goes to voice mail before I can get to it. It would be nice to be able to answer it with my tablet, which I do carry around all the time.
With google voice #, you can use the note 10.1 with grooveip or talkatone as esincho etated. I use talkatone personally, send txt etc. Makes it great when phone is in other room or out of reach. Also sometimes my phone does drop signal so very convenient for that.
The Tab 7.7 3G can also make calls. Size is much more portable, too.
Model is P6800.
Over here in Australia where wifi access points (public and/or free) are VERY rare.... Its all ggod that you can use your wifi to make and receive calls but a bit embarrassing when you're out on a lonely road with no wifi and you find you need a phone. At this point I'm gonna say that a wifi call enabled tablet is as useless as tits on a boar pig....
As such I don't call any wifi only tab, phone capable because when you need it most, rest assured there will be no wifi available....
help for phone option
Hello... I'm new here. I bought the new n8020 LTE (France). I saw that we can make calls with this tablet but my operator SFR have blocked this function. I know i can use SFR Libertalk or CsipSimple app but i really want to make this tablet as a phone. Any suggestion? I'm already rooted and have already test a lot of firmwares. thx

Questions on using Samsung unlocked S8 on Verizon

I have read a bunch of threads all over and done some searches but cannot seem to find any clear definitive answers on a few things. I am looking at grabbing the Samsung unlocked S8 and want to know for sure if anyone can confirm what does and does not work on VZ with that model? I am pretty sure of the following, but anyone who has one on VZ and can help me out would be greatly appreciated.
- WiFi Calling does NOT work on VZ with the unlocked version. I am pretty sure based on what I read on this.
- VoLTE and HD calling DO work on VZ. Again, pretty sure from what I read but it is hard to find definitive answers anywhere.
- Any app based WiFi calling would still work (so using stuff like Signal or any app that uses data to make calls could make WiFi calls even if the VZ network WiFi calling does not work?)
- Video calling DOES/DOES not work? Cannot find any answer to this.
- Voicemail still gives you notifications/works like normal? I think I read someone say that Visual Voicemail does not work, so the app that lets you just tap and see and instantly listen to VM would not work and you would have to dial *86? Not sure here and clarification is appreciated.
- Any other significant issues or things that don't work or are affected that I have missed?
I think it is pretty bad that phones can evolve with tech and you can get a phone several years and models newer than an older phone, but because one is carrier locked version, it has a ton of features that the newer phone can do, but won't because of carrier BS. Again, all help is appreciated. Thanks!
Visual voicemail does not work. HD calling works. I dont do wifi calling. I dont do video calling. I have unlimited data and mobile hotspot works flawless.

Did you decide to purchase the unlocked S8 for use on Verizon? Has it been a good experience? I'm thinking of buying one since I have the grandfathered unlimited data plan and I'd like to be able to use the mobile hotspot without having to root. Although I don't travel too much, having the option to use my phone in another country by popping in a local SIM is definitely an attractive feature. Thanks in advance!
