Hi everyone
is it possible to use my Band with an App other than Alipay. In Switzerland only Samsung- und Apple Pay are being used at the moment. Or are there Apps where I can store my cradit cards and only use the NFC capability of the band?
If no, how high is the possibility for it to ever get a custom firmware where this is possible?

Hello, I need some help in choosing my new phone I have an opportunity to buy Samsung Galaxy S for $700 here in Russia but I really don't like its iPhonish design but it's possible to buy some replacing backplates and firmware support is better than Captivate's one I think.
And I really love the Captivate's design, it really looks fantastic! But I am not really sure if it will be unlockable by the end of this summer when I come back home, so it's very risky.
Advise me something, please
P.S. Sorry for 2 themes in different thredes but I really have only 1 day to choose.
btw Samsung Galaxy S is HSDPA 900 / 1900 / 2100
so it's better to buy AT&T Data plan for 3g internet? because t-mobile has 1700/2100 and is 2100 enough for normal 3g?
Is gyroscope so important in Captivate and has anybody tried to use Samsung Galaxy's face camera?
firstable you didn't tell us where you are planing to use the phone more.
In America, or in Europe?
if in America you can get the Captive, which is only missing the front camera.
if you are using it mostly in Europe, then get the i9000 model, which has everything.
but you only work with the 1900 data and phone in America
some areas you can use the 2100 band
yes you can change firmware, and you can remove all the iphone like software, to replace it with your own software.
there are very good backplage/cases here in this topic very cheap from ebay, but very good quality
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=699379
I am going to use it in the USA until the end of this summer and then in Russia only
here it is HSDPA 1900/2100
I don't really need front camera but as additional feature it's ok
I don't know how to use these e-shops, sorry) Maybe you know where I can get these cases in some offline shops in the US?
Buy the European model.
The AT&T Captivate uses the 850 band for 3G.
You won't be able to use that in Russia for 3G.
agree buy the SGS i9000 model that is the international (European/Asia) model
we don't have 850/950 in Russia, so I don't care
well, 900 must be useful when travelling in Europe
I liked the Captivate so much

Amazon is a must-learn if you will be in the US for a year, but if you want to go offline I hear Costco has the best deal. The savings would more than pay for the membership (maybe $35 annual?) and then you'd have a Costco membership as a bonus.
hmm... my local cotsco stores doesn't have the SGS yet on any flavour.
I've was living in Japan for a long time and was impressed by how easy it was to pay using your smartphone. This is made possible by the use of the "feliCa" technology. Do anyone know if the Galaxy S4 will support this? If supported, is it only for Asian markets?
I know that Note II has this implemented, but not sure if this was available worldwide.

Only the Japanese version should/might support FeLiCa, as FeLiCa differs from the regular NFC specifications (it's a closed protocol patented by Sony, it was there long before NFC had been introduced), the good news is FeLiCa is only used in Japan, so as long as you are living abroad you shouldn't be missing too much.
FeLiCa is live in the US

I have a FeLiCa enabled card in my pocket and two readers on my desk that support it. Several college campuses in the US are using FeLiCa enabled devices.
NTT Docomo varient support FeliCa, but other versions only support standard NFC Type A/B. However, NFC Type A/B can also allow users to pay with a tap as long as there are compatible system exist.
So I live Tokyo Japan. I would easily buy the Japanese version, but the the price is rape city at ¥74,000. Does anyone know if the North American version will work in Japan? The NA version even at proper dollar conversion is at only ¥59,000 yen.
Anyone?
Yes and no. It lacks most of the LTE bands used so you may not get LTE in Japan. But you might, and sometimes people figure out how to enable extra bands so there's that. If I were you though I wouldn't count on it working on LTE, but that's just me.
What carrier do you have, I could tell you a bit more if you tell me.
Edit: never mind see you have DoCoMo. Like I said in the other thread, you only would get band 3, not sure if they have band 3 in Tokyo.

I see ou can help about it
I have ordered the US version (as I have a friend in us right now) and I live in Israel
I had no idea there are us version and global version
Will US version work in Israel? how can I check it, I tried to see in willmyphonework.net but I cant find Nexus 6p there
as per wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks) Israel uses band 3for LTE.
as per google (https://store.google.com/product/nexus_6p)
The american version has band 3, so it should work.
Hi,
There are lots of dual sim models on eBay. Not clear which country they are sourced from but they *seem* to support U.K. LTE bands?
Any issues with importing? Not worried about tax etc I am referring to the software experience. I assume it's in English with google play store etc? Anything to worry about?
Thanks,
Neil

Hey Neil.
Most of the dual sim ones would be from either Taiwan or Hong Kong, and should carry the model number of U-1u. They shouldnt be any different from your local UK model, bar the exception of:
1. Warranty - You would not receive support locally from UK based retailers or HTC without additional cost.
2. VoLTE / VoWiFi or other carrier dependent features - Specific features such as VoLTE or VoWifi would require a handset running firmware that has been customised by a local carrier. If you're using a carrier that isnt carrying the U Ultra, then there wouldnt be a difference here. You will still be able to access LTE (via the correct APN setting) and make phone calls via 3G, as per 95% of phones out there.
I am trying to do alittle bit of research to avoid the issues we have with our current S7's...
How does the differences between the European Exynos 8895 and the new American SnapDragon look this time? Will we be able to modify the phone fully as our European counterparts do? or will various Roms in America be simply ignored again? Would it be better to wait a month for the unlocked versions to come out?
and of course, any ideas on when we might get root?

I have an AT&T S8+ I'm playing with for 14 days while I'm waiting for my UK S8+ to arrive. You can delete or disable most of AT&T's crap and afterwards the phone is surprisingly clean. I'm still getting the UK version primarily for its purity, updates, and because it's about $200 cheaper taking in to account tax avoidance.
If you're importing check the LTE bands which differ by region. The UK phones don't support T-Mobile band 12 or AT&T band 30. The latter's a nice to have while the former is a have to have. T-Mobile's band 12 is their low frequency band which handles distance and penetration.
How would anyone be positive within 24 hours?

Clove in the UK; I've ordered from them before. Because they are an authorized Samsung reseller the phone has a two-year EU warranty. Only problem is you have to send it to the UK for service. I had to do that once before and I paid the shipping out and Samsung paid the shipping back. The BTU (UK) phones support all AT&T's band except band 30. That's a high frequency band which means it's less effective at distance and penetration. My market doesn't even have band 30. The UK phones are missing T-Mobile's band 12 and that is an issue as its their low frequency band.
Your answer is HERE:

But someone with an Exynos has to do it. Everyone wants to yak about wallpapers and crap and not actually UNLOCK their bootloader.
TONS of people now have Exynos S8 in their hands.

Thank you for the answer.
just a few more questions:
1. Is it really a $200 difference? I checked the site and the galaxy s8 plus is going to be $860 which is not a lot cheaper.
2. How can I know if my area has the LTE band 30?
