noob question.. unlocking phone - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

I'm on stock and am considering unlocking phone.. is there any way to unlock my op6t without the data being wiped. That's the only thing holding me back

Unfortunately no...

Nope not possible, just do a backup of data onto your laptop/desktop. Or use something like Google Photos for your pictures etc

What's the best way to backup my data before I unlock my phone?

Firstly connect your phone to a PC and copy all your important files like music, photos, etc.. Copy the entire folders. I recommend to copy all the internal storage. Next be sure that Google backup is on. To be sure to to Settings->System->Backup and click on backup now. After wiping the phone you need to setup your device with your Google account and click on restore from the previous device. After this copy all your files from internal storage and your phone will be fully restored

Tips To Prepare X10 For Sell?!?!

hey, i'm selling my x10 soon and i would like some tips on the preparation. thanks for the help. hopefully this would also be useful for future sellers.
1.) what should i do to save the important data (like pictures, videos, text, contacts).
2.) i would also like to save the apps if possible cause my next phone would most likely be another android .
3.) and how do restore to its factory state (erase all my info, data)?
connect it to your pc, move all your files that you want to the SD card - or to your pc if you want to sell with the SD still installed.
if you have a rooted phone, search for all your .apk files and copy to sd/pc also.
sure fire way to ensure phone is crisp and clean is to flash it back to original spec.
might not be the easiest way, but it will ensure that NO data is left behind!!
anymore tips?
If the phone is rooted I'd recommend Titanium Backup (http://matrixrewriter.com/android/). You can take a backup of all apps, settings, contacts, etc and then selectively restore to the new phone.
You still need to backup your SD card as mrtim123 said.
if use mybackup to backup the apps,, do i still need to copy all the apk files from my phone to my pc? do i simply
1 From the Home screen, tap the applications bar.
2 Tap Settings > SD card & phone storage > Factory data reset > Reset phone.
3 Enter your screen unlock pattern.
4 Tap Erase everything.
to delete everything and restore it back to factory settings?

Plz help Lost all data after SDCARD0 folder delete

Guys as usual I was talking backup via PC.
I found two folders into my Internal memory named SDCARD0 & SDCARD0.
I thought it must be a duplicate and deleted one of them.
Immediately I found I lost all my data from Internal memory.
Folders like whatsapp, dcim, movies and all other whcih were created by other apps got lost.
So has i actually accidentally deleted them due to sdcard0 folder or they are present but HIDDEN somewhere?
Coz still my internal memory says 3.60gb free which was same size before doing this unusual accident.
My phone hasnt got any root access.
Please how can I get back my files in this case?
My all apps r functioning properly except they lost all their custom settings...
What can be done to get my data back from Internal memory?
What you can do is, NEVER DELETE SUCH FOLDERS AGAIN.
To be aware of this in future, have a backup via foldersync or similar...
The chance that ull get ur data back going against zero...sorry
-EDIT: REQUIRES ROOT-
Oh you can do it. Did it myself a few weeks ago..

is there no way of running recovery software when plugged into a PC? I know I saved a lot of data from a camera while back by scanning its memory in recova or something similar while hooked up via usb
You should do some research first if you don't know something

Retrieve deleted files [Galaxy s8+] - Is it possible?

Hi, I have a galaxy 8+ and i deleted for me very important photos and videos accidentially. So my question: Is there a possibility to undelete and save the files. As I learned that the new transmission protocols used with usb are not able to recognize and read data blocks so that we can transfer it to the PC and to save the files.
Ok then I learned that we could transfer the memory image if the phone has a root. Now I learned that to install or set up a root the internal memory will be formated and the data I would like to save are then lost?
Is there any possibility to retrieve and save deleted data from the galaxy 8+ or .....??
Please Help Andrea!?
Use a deleted file recovery app from play store. I had to one and it worked fine. Don't remember the name but there's several to choose from

Did you have Google photos app and sync on? Or Samsung account sync on?
I personally like dumpster. Check Google play.
But it has to be installed before you can "undelete" files

backup unrooted phone without Google

Can an unrooted Moto G7 be fully backed up without syncing with Google?
For privacy reasons I use Netguard firewall and prefer to not sync with google. Is there a way to create a nandroid backup even though the phone is bootloader unlocked but not rooted?
I tried adb backup and it does not backup app data and settings. Will anything else do it without syncing with Google?
That's what I miss with an unrooted phone: full backups and Titanium Backup.
I know this is old, but I think this is a valid concern beyond just the G7.
The answer is a "JBOD configuration". The term JBOD means "just a bunch of drives" when they're set up on a raid controller without being set up in a dedicated striping or mirroring configuration. The idea is if the OS gets corrupted, you can wipe its drive and reinstall without losing data. You can also move the data to any device simply by transferring the physical drives to it if they fit. If not, you use the host system to mount the drive you're transferring to, hit copy and paste, and wait a while.
Anyway, the OS goes on the fastest drive by itself. The drive doesn't have to be very big. All of the data goes on a different drive or drives. In a PC, you could put the OS on a 64GB SSD and have the data on standard 2TB hard disks. Any of this can be striped to attempt to increase speed (not really necessary) or mirrored to preserve important files (saved my tail last month). Archives are as simple as swapping the data drives with fresh ones.
On a phone your OS goes on the internal storage and all data on an SD card. Archives are made with an external USB hard drive using USB OTG.
Again I realize this is old, but IMHO, JBOD is *the* way to go.
