Accessing root files from PC or Mac / Titanium Backup - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone, I'm trying to back up Titanium Backup folder from phone (nexus 6p) without luck,
I have USB debugg in developing section of phone + MTP enable to transfer files, I could see the internal memory with all the goods but not my root files, when use root explorer I could see " Titanium Backup folder ",
My concern if I need to wipe phone I want it to have back up, any other way to accomplish this ? I do have a back up in the cloud, would I be able to use cloud backup file if need to ?
Thank you all in advance,

Tips To Prepare X10 For Sell?!?!

hey, i'm selling my x10 soon and i would like some tips on the preparation. thanks for the help. hopefully this would also be useful for future sellers.
1.) what should i do to save the important data (like pictures, videos, text, contacts).
2.) i would also like to save the apps if possible cause my next phone would most likely be another android .
3.) and how do restore to its factory state (erase all my info, data)?
connect it to your pc, move all your files that you want to the SD card - or to your pc if you want to sell with the SD still installed.
if you have a rooted phone, search for all your .apk files and copy to sd/pc also.
sure fire way to ensure phone is crisp and clean is to flash it back to original spec.
might not be the easiest way, but it will ensure that NO data is left behind!!
anymore tips?
If the phone is rooted I'd recommend Titanium Backup (http://matrixrewriter.com/android/). You can take a backup of all apps, settings, contacts, etc and then selectively restore to the new phone.
You still need to backup your SD card as mrtim123 said.
if use mybackup to backup the apps,, do i still need to copy all the apk files from my phone to my pc? do i simply
1 From the Home screen, tap the applications bar.
2 Tap Settings > SD card & phone storage > Factory data reset > Reset phone.
3 Enter your screen unlock pattern.
4 Tap Erase everything.
to delete everything and restore it back to factory settings?

[Q] Titanium backup - File transfer

This is a very basic question.. but I just can't seem to find the solution:
I am rooted, have used Titanium backup to backup my apps/data, and I want to transfer the file folder of backups over to my computer for extra security/backup. However, I'm having trouble locating the file on my phone to transfer it.
I connected the USB cable, and am searching in the phone's internal memory. I can't find the Titanium backup folder to transfer the files.
Can anyone help me out?
Thanks!

Well, I used the "wireless storage" function on the phone and was able to find the directory that way, but I am wondering why I can't see it when connected with the USB cable?

Umm.... I don't see how this would work. You can't really transfer the apps themselves without root at least. The app data, maybe.

There is an app called Helium that you can get on the Play Store, that should help. It's buggy and some apps aren't supported, but it at least something. If you want to root your phone, then use titanium backup, and transfer the files via usb cable to your pc, then to your new phone, as the person above said. Then just restore using Titanium Backup again on the new phone.
Why can't he transfer the entire Titanium Backup folder over?
I can't find any reason not too.
Usb otg works as well. I use rom toolbox pro for backups and I just did a fresh backup to the sdcard of my razr, popped it into the $5 otg adapter I got from dealxtreme, and transferred the whole app_manager folder onto my g2. When I installed rom toolbox it found everything & I could do a batch restore of apps/data.

Agreed. In the "SD card" folder is the TB folder. This should contain all of the back-up files. Transfer them as you would any other files.

SDCARD is just going to be your main folder using any file manager. However, as far as I know, TB is limited to rooted devices or ADB. I am not familiar with how the non-rooted TB works as I have never used it. I root every phone by the time I leave Verizon's parking lot.
Am I missing something, not fully understanding or OP just makes his life more complicated than it supposes to be???
I still don't understand why can't he just "transfer" them over.
OP, your old phone, called phone A, has TB folder, your new phone, the G2, called phone B, unrooted. You don't have SD card.
Why can't you "transfer" that TB folder from phone A to your PC then from PC, "transfer" them to phone B?
What stop you from doing that? You can do wirelessly or using usb cable.
Can you treat that TB folder like your "personal" folder which hold your documents or pictures?

Thanks, I may be making it more difficult for me, I wasn't sure about ROOTED phone (A) vs Non Rooted LG G2 (Phone B). Especially when it comes to TB. I wll try and see what happens.

Help with sd card as portable media

Ok so ive finally upgraded my s4 to a s5 unlocked bootloader, rooted and resurrection rom. I understand the whole adaptable media and encryption. I want my sd card as portable so i can use it in my pc and other phones if needed. Also to use titanium backup to restore apps if i wipe and install a fresh rom.
My problem is es file explorer, root explorer, and any archiving apps are all jacked up and wont write as they used to. I am able to write to the sd card but i want to have full control like i used to on older roms on my s4.
Any help?

I'm using Ressurection too. Marshmallow can be a pain with the sdcard. Apps have to ask for write permission when it first needs it and you have make sure to grant it.
Titanium Backup works with the external sdcard but you have to go to "Preferences", then to "Backup Folder Location", click where it says "Storage provider:", select " Document provider storage", go to the external sdcard (not a directory in it) and press "select", and then go to the TB backup directory and select "Use the current folder".
If you're using a multi partitioned sdcard, Link2SD doesn't work but Apps2SD appears to work fine. Either way, you'll probably get a notification about a corrupted sdcard for each extra partition. You can safely ignore them. Long press on the notification and select the crossed bell icon to prevent it from popping up again.
Some apps have trouble if they are opened from another app. Rar wouldn't work for me in ES File Explorer until I opened it from the app drawer. Then the correct permission dialog popped up and it was fine ever since.
I would also strongly suggest setting selinux mode to permissive. I suggest using SELinuxModeChanger.
Thanks. I changed the selinux mode but es is still wonky when working with zips. I also tried zarchiver opened directly and it has problems too. Oh well.
I did get tibu working previously as you stated.
I hate when enhancements are downgrades!!
Thank you for the information.

noob question.. unlocking phone

I'm on stock and am considering unlocking phone.. is there any way to unlock my op6t without the data being wiped. That's the only thing holding me back
Unfortunately no...
Nope not possible, just do a backup of data onto your laptop/desktop. Or use something like Google Photos for your pictures etc
What's the best way to backup my data before I unlock my phone?
Firstly connect your phone to a PC and copy all your important files like music, photos, etc.. Copy the entire folders. I recommend to copy all the internal storage. Next be sure that Google backup is on. To be sure to to Settings->System->Backup and click on backup now. After wiping the phone you need to setup your device with your Google account and click on restore from the previous device. After this copy all your files from internal storage and your phone will be fully restored
