Tickle doesn't work right with pie. I use it sometimes for decompiling apps. It doesn't wanna recompile proper anymore. Had better results with apktool. For ROMs, use superrs kitchen. Or Ubuntu /arch to build..

So has anyone on here gone into the VoicePlus Beta? A lot of people on there are curious if anyone has looked into rooting the img or extracting the Apk. http://forums.t-mobile.com/t5/Voice...ash-the-Voice-Plus-Beta-ROM-Image/ta-p/325923 Even one of the mods has said he uses Cyanogen and was wondering if anything was going on over here.
p.s. Cyanogen....you ROCK!

why not just extract the apk yourself using an appmanager? the post to forums
complete
Honestly...because I've never done it. ;-) I know not a really good reason, but between school, work and the fam...I haven't been able to take the time to learn. I'm hoping that over my next deployment (I'm in the Army also) that I can learn to create an app and maybe cook a ROM.
Interesting
I like the CityID and the call divert and call defer seems neat - hopefully better visual voicemail than T-mobile's other app.
I'd like to see it integrated in Cyanogen, and SuperD roms
its a waste, dont flash u will LOOSE ROOT
i pulled the system image
ok, I've been picking this up as I'm going... I extracted the nbh file and now have .nb files, but I dont know where to go from here...
anyone can point me in a direction would be helpful. I have SDK installed and can make and start a virtual device.
Hey People!! I'm new to XDA and this is my first post :silly: I'd like to introduce a new ROM. So basically i want to make something different for the galaxy y- the phone we've all loved to love! I want to have a redesigned launcher looking somewhat similar to the ICS ad Jellybean with softkeys like the one on ICS. It should be Deodexed rooted and have access to many other features (like pre-installed chainfire and stuff like that :fingers-crossed: ). Im planning on updating the stock kernel to the Merruk Technology Pre-final v2.0 as i've used it and it seems pretty fast and stable (I'm still waiting for the build to be final). I've a Init.d hack with battery calibration and also a hack which (I don't know how) decreases your ram usage haven't tested it yet but people who've used it says it works on stock rom too (which to me seems impossible because stock rom dosen't support init.d. Correct me if i'm wrong :highfive I've decided what to call it too. Now i only need some help which if anyone could offer would be truly amazing to me........

Many themers of our forum have made guides for other users to learn from. You can search in the Themes and Apps section for them.
About bugs, first make the custom rom. If you encounter a bug, tell us and we'll be happy to help you.
could you please post the links of such posts which contain methods of themeing the status bar and launchers??? and also how do you edit some apks which ive downloaded from the play store??

Try using uot kitchen for initial theming. Use my guide in sign to go to advanced level

just decompile and recompile the systemui and framework-res,
everything is in the drawable-ldpi
I too m making a rom but i think theming is much more difficult than making a rom so i suggest use someone's theme and ask him for permissions:thumbup:

I came across CM12.1 rom for Lenovo K3 Note on needrom. Considering that K3 have the same chipset as ours, I've been thinking that it can be ported to our device.
I've tried to port it past few days but failed. Any developer would come up and try to port it?
What have you done? Device tree something else?
Nope. Just changing libs here and there, according to this guide. I'm still noob in porting roms so I can't do much.

Yes. I'm actually having problem in repacking system.new.dat files. The same as the guy face here. Finding the solution require me to learn Linux. I'm still new at Linux, so I need some time to learn.
Other than that is okay (perhaps). I followed some other guides like http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/guide-how-to-port-lollipop-based-roms-t3223938 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2707438.
Oh and one more thing, the rom is ported by @Cheshkin. I've tried to seek his permission to port the rom through pm, but still no answer. So I cannot post the rom here (if I done porting it) without his permission.

Let's wait for the response then
Would be graet to see CM to release this device's potential. Especially since HTC is taking it's sweet time with 6.0 update and 5.1 was officially skipped.
Anyway if you would need some testers I would gladly help.
Good news! The permission has been granted. I will try my best to port this rom.
And what with 820n?

Hi @amirarsyad97, so did you manage to extract system files?

I already did, but I can't repack it. So instead I tried looking for other roms while staying away from dat files - cm12.1 ulefone be touch 2 and blisspop k3 note.
Now I'm having problems with the kernel. The rom won't boot at all, the worse I can't get the dmesg.
I don't have much free time to explore kernels in detail. If anybody can help me with porting the kernel, it would be a pleasure.

I will try porting the kernel using the kitkat kernel as base when I find time
Unfortunately, I did not succeed, I could not even get into the bootanimation. Hope someone can help us.
I am now trying to squeeze the Lollipop system partition so that we can liberate some more free space for the internal storage, hope it works
That would be the coolest thing???
Hello guys hope you have been doing great, Was too busy with school, exams and stuff.
Good news!! I have finally managed to boot into CM 12.1 after I successfully ported it today.
It's lightning fast but has some bugs: USB, bluetooth and Sim don't work currently and it needs some resizing of the framework images.
I will try to work on it until Sunday and hopefully someone else can take over with modifying it

Use this kernel and build.prop and use the original system (don't replace with stock files) https://mega.nz/#!c4USzSTL!rXmsjMYaxR9ECwNeiMjissLPuFRLBWBUSLIuwiBFwQk
Almost everything works right now except Bluetooth, camera and Sim
Great work keep it up

Hi there,
I'm wondering if there is a guide to building custom roms for galaxy s7? I've seen videos showing basic modification of the rom before flash, usually for generic devices...
Most roms I've looked at for s7 seem to prefer flashing from odin? I've worked on rooted devices before but they didn't use .img files for flashing just straight .zips flashed thru twrp.
Is there a preferred method for creating roms for s7 devices?
Hi there , on the top you have a search function ! Use it , its free
Obviously I've tried searching... only thing I've found is kitchen tools but I'm wondering if there is anything specific to galaxy s7 and odin.

The first thing you need to look for if you want to build roms is
the APK TOOL which can be found here in xda providing you
use xda's search function or search using your friendly google! LOL
Good luck,
Have a great day
OK helpful...
So all im actually after here is a little bit of helpful information, I was wondering if someone had some insight or experience. A guide. A wiki something like that...
Please guys all I'm asking for is a little help in the right direction... as far as I can see apk tool is only for work on apks not full roms?
XDA university has introduction to building ROM in general here and you seek a little help for s7/edge if any from many developers already has the rom running but I think you first have to understand building ROM and figure it out.
Perfect.
This is exactly what I was looking for... I searched guides, q + a and a few other places. Didn't see xda university. Thanks so much this is so helpful

I don't want to sound mean but the fact that you're asking for it here instead of looking for it yourself makes me think you aren't up for it.(as if you don't know what you're looking for). And when you'l encounter the hundreds of issues instead of googling you'll ask for them here too?
However if you insist there are many good guides here available. Just a few taps away.
ok i didnt explained very whell, im using superR free kitchen but when i compile and install the rom gives me fail
Its not that simple bro. You need a Linux distro with Java 8 or 9 installed. The android SDK. A strong knowledge of Linux. You need a github account. You need to sync a repo for the ROM. And build your device tree. Some coding knowledge Is preferable. I can help you via pm when you get stuck but it took me a long time to be able to turn out a working ROM..
