I think it would be nice to have a List of Roms for S2. I found nothing so I start this one. I think this will help everyone who search for a Rom and it will help the Developers to see which Projects are there and see their Progress. My Problem is that I have not enough time to handle this alone because I work 60h a week. My idea is that we all work together.
That this works we have to follow some rules.
1. Only Roms no diskussions
2. Only one Rom per Post
3. Update your Post (new Version etc.)
4. Look if your Rom is allready there

There already is such a thread. Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1253665
This is a sticky thread in Galaxy S II General...kinda hard to miss.

Guaranteed to be a fail. Threads like this deserve to have all the ROM's in one post instead of having to scour through pages and pages. Sorry for thread-bombing but it's true.

@skelly - Right!
Since the list in the general forum got updated, we HAVE a really nice ROM list again!
Also, I kinda like the idea having such a thread maintained by several people, but... I just don't think it's gonna work

Someone that could spell would be better...
Guys, I'm the creator/owner of http://www.galaxys2roms.com , I spent quite a lot of time to try to keep it up to date (although the updates are automatic, I need to add any new roms that are added).
Pls help me keep it up to date by sending me a message in case you see that something is missing or is not correct

Hello everybody, It´s been like a week since I last posted, a lot of things went wrong in my house and I somehow lost all my computers
anyway, back in business again, Last night I had to install the stock Sprint GB sbf, to my surprise it worked Really, Really good.
I´ve had a Defy+ and a Milestone 2, And I remembered having lots of issues with modding aka. no signal, wifi issues (like the cm7 and 9 ones) data issues, system lags, poor battery life, kernel errors on development, Overclocking settings not being saved, recovery mess-ups, and a lot of depicable stuff, most of all kernel-related.
Anyway, last night I flashed the stock rom over cm7 and noticed a real speed, functionality and battery boost, so I thought of just theming, de-bloating and optimizing the stock Sprint ROM.
Please follow me here:
We will never be able to flash custom kernels (not w/o the help of a reaaaaal good DEV)
CM9 &10, though they are eye-candy, are based actually on Gingerbread kernel, so no new features can be added besides the ones you can get withg new apps.
CM7, though stable, lacks the performance and functionality of the stock rom.
Finally, the stock rom as I said, (and I´ve tested TONS of ROMS in different motorola devices) is the one with the best responsivenness, snappiness and battery life, plus It's almost clean (eg. bloatware is easily removed.)
How will it be done?, you may ask.
Well Our first step, will be deodexing the stock GB SBF.
After deodexing we will be optimizing the build.prop on our phone, to trick apps into installing on our phones, and to make some quick optimizations.
Once we have deodexed our rom, we will be able to run, autorun and theme /system/apps.
Apps like Gnow, the statusbar and other tweaks can be easily (RELLY EASY) ported to deodexed ROMS
So this is the challenge guys, Let´s build our own stockcustom ROM.
So far I´m re-flashing stock sprint GB to continue testing only the essential apps, so we can build from there.
And just for a tease; here is my latest build.prop, with some tweaks and tricks taken from other roms and my personal experience, just make sure you have root access, fire up a file explorer and replace your build.prop
Please Refer to next post for links on how to maybe help me with deodexing the full rom.
And please, developers, dont take this as a shady move towards your development, I just think that the best way to make something is to start from scratch..... there are too many source files, modded files and crap files on cm7,9&10 specially when not officially supported (Because everybody messes with the files and re-distributes them, so a lot of clutter and unneeded files, references and code are injected on some releases....)
So my friends, we have a common goal, By now I have succesfully overclocked/undervolted the phone to 1350/233 mhz (not on recovery!!)
I´ve deodexed system/framework/
and Im stuck trying to deodex system/apps/
Xprt Owners of the world, please come on over here, we can do this...
I´m an architect/artist so I really want this to have a sleek look, but not copying a specific stock look, if you know what I mean....
From now on refer to the "wished features post" for features you´d like
And now my final statement:
Though it IS possible to compile JB or ICS from source to our phones, my experience with this somehow outdated android motorolas, is that you will not get significant performance boosts or super cool functions with new software. The only way to get this functionality is by upgrading the kernel which I again declare IS NOT POSSIBLE on our phone. CM9 and 10 my look like JB and ICS, but run straight off a GB kernel.
Yes you will get a lot of new stuff like menus and graphics, but the functionality will be the same, plus all the eye candy will trade off your new features with lags and possible errors.
Software is built in time with devices, and it doesn´t matter how much you say "but the hardware is capable of more!!", incremental software updates "ignore" some HW features, so they have to be forced or modified to run, which adds more procesess/tasks to the kernel and this will suck your speed and battery.
Let´s build something pretty...............
Hello everybody, and welcome to the world of modding.
From today, we will be coordinating an army of people to work towards a common goal: Having the best ROM for our phones, and surviving the day.
The tools you absolutely need:
Brain
Hands
Eyes
Text-comprehension.
Be a self-troubleshooter
Advanced Google skills
Patience
Some Weed
First of all I will just oversee the topic: ODEXED vs DEODEXED
In simple words, Odexed systems have XX.apk and XX.odex, which store certain app properties (like icons, colors, fonts, menus) so that they wont be messed up with, thus making the system more stable, Deodexed systems, have only APK´s with their icons, colors and behaviors packed on, thus making theming, modding and using alternative system apps easier.
If you would LOVE to read about the subject, please refer to this: http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/what-is-odex-and-deodex-in-android-complete-guide/
Well, now that you are totally aware of the odex-deodex situation, you might ask yourself..
-how the phuck do I deodex my system??????
Well, deodexing implies merging the .odex properties onto the apk.
Hey!!!! but how???
you need brains, patience, Java SDK7, Android sdk, and music.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1852322 this instructions are for deodexing.. good luck....
To save your time, you need Android SDK and JSDK properly installed, you need xUltimate (Try and find the version that works on you), and you need the patience and willingness of Sidharta.
Ive tried already 5 versions of xUltimate to find out errors on different files!!!!!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2065270This will tell you some other basics on the xultimate deal.
There are other ways to deodex, help me google that.
We will be based on the stock 1FF-p3_kronos_cdma_kronos-user-2.3.5-4.5.1-110-KNS-46-49-test-keys-signed-Sprint-US SBF....
I would love to develop something good to both sprint and boost, but I have a Sprint handset, so I cannot assure our development will work on boost handsets, so please just sprint handset owners only for now.
For xultimate errors and troubleshooting, please refer to Google.com!
Ive been up all last night deodexing my system apps, and found out that most google related apps cannot be deodexed...
maybe that's why you need to install gapps in cm7 or other custom roms...
anyway people, let's get fully deodexed.
Make sure you have both Android SDK and Java SDK 7 PROPERLY installed oin your pc before trying this.
Cheers, luck and please reply
One last thing, I dont know if it is related somehow, but try to flash your stock rom without a SIM card inserted
Quick update: I Think I´ve got it figured out....
You need full Android SDK, and Java development kit, Android sdk tools alone wont do it, and java alone wont do it, you need developer runtimes and libraries for some programs like xultimate to run right.....
And you need not to activate, use or anything your phone before trying to deodex, I guess just starting up and entering simple things as the time, or having a sim card installed, or your google account can write data on the phone and mess up with the deodexing process.....
xultimate has already deodexed full framework and has passed from the yesterday´s troublesome google quick search box...(first thing to fail last night) so let´s hope it goes well.. it is indeed a loong process...
and just another error, but now I think I have it figured out, you need smali-baksmali assembler/disassembler for some specific .jar packed files... I´ve just installed it, and hopefully will post a fully deodexed stock rom today or tomorrow, for you to test and for us to start theming.
remember if you want to try... you need jdk not just java, you need full android sdk bundle, and you need smali/baksmali on your jdk installation for it to work properly...
%#%"!!!
This completely sucks, I´ve been trying to troubleshoot the errors xultimate is throwing at me on specific files, that lead me to download A LOT of java JRE and JDK versions, and both in x64 and x32 flavors, which apparently caused a major mixup on my PC´s guts....
Now I´m freaking trying to clean up my dev enviroment, trying to re-set the appropiate paths and classes, but hell with it...
Anyone succeeded??? please let me know if you´ve tried and if you get into any error can you please upload a screenshot???
thanx
Sounds like hell. I haven't tried, because I just don't have enough time in the day to do something like this. Plus, the xprt is my only phone, so I can't afford to experiment on it much.

yes sir, but in the mean time I managed to patch it with the battery mod, power menu and ICS style notifications
If I can deodex it I think I can improve it a little bit more in terms of performance and looks and functionality , but my powerful pc is a zombie right now, this is no task an old notebook can handle
I have deodexed it a long time back but sadly I can't upload it now. You can run kitchen from cygwin and it will deodexed your rom completely.

I am beggining to think I´ve been cursed by the digital gods.
BTW, if you´re able to upload it, I´ll be very thankful dude! I think Im going nowhere right now
Hello Everyone,
Welcome to the world of android.I have been using various android devices untill now and recently got this beast.
Thus i want to let you all know that i am in process to develop a custom stock rom unlike the Galaxies and Senses...
Key features i am incorporating as of now are
1) Fully deodexed stock rom with extended kernel full root cwm capability.
2) Bloatwares removed with addons from xperia Z
3)Perfectly matched launcher with best performance and battery.
4)Based upon user community request.additional functionality to be added.
I would definately require everyone's support and donation in order to make this a master piece.
I am opening up this thread provided xda moderators give a heads up for a general discussion on what requirements we have.
Thank you and i will be constantly updating you on the status of the rom.
Also look forward for some hosting space.
Thank you

Excellent!
Hi all,
just got my SP last week, and very satisfied with it, now i knew what the meaning of project butter smooth, i'm from X10 section (pretty old phone and need to work harder to make it run faster, lol) .
So. ... i'm in on this!!!
Sofar there are some weakness on this phone that i can see, such as :
- Status Bar, i will port Serajr's one on this phone.
- Reboot options on the power menu, and another wellknown MOD(s) need to provide.
- Sound quality through earphone (cuz my X10 with some mod on sound lib(s) can to beat SP stock very easy, according to my test on my ears for sure ).
- General background supossed to be black, i think.
- Bloatware remover and some usefull tweaks, such as ram management, i think we should have more than 500 MB on anytime instead of 430+ MB, etc etc.
- Porting stuff for some well known apps from another devices, etc.
BUT, this gonna 'kill' my monthly internet quota since the rom's size little TOO BIG to upload from here, so lets see it later.
EDIT :
I think we better wait for JB 4.2.2, perhaps SONY gonna release it soon, just suggestion.
Regards
Q&A for [ROM][G900V][NI2]EXTREME SYNDICATE v2.1! READY NOW!
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer. Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
Hi all. Is 2.1 using Android 4.4.4? Why isn't it using NE9? (Diff between that and NI2?) Are there any known bugs to this release? If so, could we expect a 2.5 release semi-soon? I'm scared to flash due to other people's troubles so far but have been eagerly waiting an update! This has been a near-perfect ROM for me who likes minimal and stripped down. Making it even more stripped down starts to make me worry though. Haven't any experience with mods other than viper4android. Is that HX camera mod better than the included camera in ExtremeSyndicate 1.5?
Sorry for newb post.
there isnt much dif in ni2.. just a newer version.. it is more debloated but you dont really need to mod anything.. just simply install/push what you want to the phone

That is correct. Find a Android keyboard apk and place it in internal storage or on sdcard. After you have flashed the ROM use the "My Files" app included in the ROM to install the keyboard apk. That is how I understand the process. I'm not sure, but trying to install the "L" keyboard might not be a simple as installing an apk. I think, but not sure, there are some supporting files that you need for the "L" keyboard to properly function. A simple, no frills keyboard may be a better option until you're up and running and then try installing the "L" keyboard or other keyboard from the play store.

Good to hear. I'm not sure about the dark theme, we'll have to ask elliwigy. As far as Google Calendar not syncing, elliwigy removed more "stuff" for this build, he may have eliminated a file needed for sync.

+1 on what BigBot96 said. Your ROM is exactly what I had been wanting for years. A lean, fast, great battery ROM that provided all the basic functions of a smartphone without all the BS bells and whistles. No matter what you do, there will always be someone who wants something different than what YOU want. Let potential users of your ROM know up front what you offer and if that doesn't "float their boat" they can either not flash your ROM or they can add what they want. Let them know up front that you don't offer or support a "buffet line of options". They can like it or, well, leave it and go flash something else.
I miss this rom! For all my devices, with all the roms I tried, this was my favorite. If I could build a rom (which I can't), I would have built something almost identical to this one. You stated you stopped developing because you were busy, tired of trying to debloat more and tired of getting flamed. I accept your stopping as version 1 was to me perfection, and I agree, it would have been so hard to improve upon it.
I tried a couple of other roms. While good, they were not nearly as perfect as this one. I think I'll go back to version 1 to see if I can figure out what is missing from version 2. Then it's back to glory for me. Thanks for all your hard work. I've been busy traveling that I didn't take the time to tell you thanks man. Happy holidays. If you build another rom, can you post a notice here. All the best.
version 2.1 was updated to ni2 but before i could theme n work out some kinks i shut it down.. i was working on the opposite but ran into some issues with 5.0 apks not working.. I will be posting a new rom as soon as we get 5.0! i already have a working list of what to debloat (based on disecting the g900f build) so you will see me again! In the meantime, I have been learning to code since ultimately I want to create apks for various things

I never did understand why people expected stuff to be added back into a ROM when it's main purpose was to be "lighter" with each update makes no sense to me lol. Anyway, I'm running V1 and it's simply awesome! I just rooted and installed V1 on my wife's phone today (she actually ASKED me to root it lmao, I about fell over) but I would really like to have the flashlight toggle that appears to be included in V1.5. Is there an easy way to get the flashlight toggle? Is there a link somewhere for V1.5 (I haven't found one yet)? Can I dirty flash it over V1?

BRACE YOURSELVES,LONG POST COMING!!
So,this phone is my very first one since 2013,and because i LOVE to tinker every software(even on pc) i decided to tinker my very first smartphone to the best performance possible !
I Learned a lot about this phone and 2 years later i decided to help others reach this point of optimization for this phone..
MY choice for android version for this phone is Jellybean(4.3) and i can explain why.
I choose this version because we want to operate our phone without A-N-Y bugs or FC's...
I choose this version because we want to get the best out of our camera....
i chose this version because I think(please dont sent hate posts) its the lightest software WHILE maintaning stability :fingers-crossed:
Well lets get started then!!
ROM:The best jellybean rom in terms of performance PLUS stability (my personal opinion again) is Just archi'shttp://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...m-justarchis-sammy-stock-deodex-root-t2855613, (IMHO The best developer for this phone ).
this rom use very little resources and it is as close to stock as possible with the basics (in terms of flexibility) baked in :good:
Also we all hate to admit that Sammy stock ROM is the most optimized because their sources is closed (so in sammies 4.4.2 -4.4.4 that developers port is laggy after some long term use so we cant blame them).
KERNEL: I chose this kernel because WHILE having enough stability,it delivers MASSIVE performance boost-And this is Boeffla's in synergy with zanezam's boeffla kernel with uber toolchain http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/kernel-boeffla-kernel-linaro-zzmoove-t2629184 http://boeffla.df-kunde.de/zanezam/linaro/i9300/samsung/jb43/stable/. THUMBS UP TO THESE DEVELOPERS :good: !!!
OPTIMIZATIONS: I'D like to share my boeffla kernel profile.this profile is aimed just a bit to performance while having good Sot's (4 hours+)...
Use Greenify!!! Its the best app available capable of hibernate you apps of CHOICE,freeing RAM to make the device snappy
i'd recomment to use it with XPOSED as you have more options to hibernate even system apps! :good:
ADBLOCK: use Adaway. It saves you from these ads that not only they are irritating, but you save a LOT of cpy cycles, which means cooler phone, still snappy while browsing etc.
Xposed modules:the only frustration about this rom for me is that it has no advanced reboot.. But its obvious because rom is as close to stock as possible). so if you want this you must install APM+ module found in download section inside xposed installer or by this link: http://repo.xposed.info/module/hk.kennethso168.xposed.apmplus.
SOUND:After a lot of scripts and mods about sound in our phone,i decided to settle to [/FONT]V4A app and their drivers because it has INSANE volume boost WHILE maintaining quality :good: .
music application of choice is "Music" by SONY because i find it to work best with V4A. just move the apk to system app to work.normal install dont work!
SYSTEM APPS REMOVAL: I removed those system apps, freeing a good chunk of storage AND RAM, WHILE maintaining stability and no FC'S or bugs or anything.
there is the following:
ChocoEUKor
RoseEUKor
SNS
PanningtryActually.apk
Best face
My Files
Adapt sound(needed to install V4A)
Capability manager service
simcardpermission
CoolEUkor
DirectConnectManager
Direct ShareManager
DroidSerifitalic
Enterprise permissions
Multimedia ui service layer
Page buddy noti svc
Remote controls
Samsung link connectivity
SyncmlDS
daydreams
Live wallpaper support
contacts sync Google
Nfc
Internet(stock browser,replace w ith chrome)
Music FX
vpn dialogs
deep sea
voice record
FWDupgrade
music sto ck app
Cloud agent
bcservice
enterprise sim pinservice
Flashbar service
syscope service
vpn services
factory mode
factory mode
factory test
ims framework
indiservicemanager
MDMApp
OMACP
pickup tutorial
ultracfg
And with all that, i achieved very little Ram consumption and less Cpu cycles :good:
I hope you find this useful!
see attachments for my RAM usage without pressing clear all, and boeffla kernel profile of my own.give it a try!
sorry for long post!
cheers!

Thanks for this, just what I needed, I just got this phone.. upgraded from galaxy s1 =) .. looking for a close to stock experience with some adds, without any bugs, ( on s1 we had "SauROM" ) .. I hope theres something similar for this device. Maybe ill try archis , is there any other alternatives?

Im happy to help!
well, I must say that you should use the rom in the link first to see if you like sammy stock but a bit modded.there are many roms but ported Roms e.g Blekotas roms are indeed beautiful BUT due time eventually it starts to lag, which is not developers fault, its just a port.

I have a issue, When I tried to install the zip, my CWM has no options to do so. All I have done so far is install CF-root. Do I need to install a recovery separately? how and what recovery should I install? Should I get boeffla kernel first?
And is there anything I should be worried about, do I need to update bootloader or anything like that. my current version is: i9300XXUGNA5 , with CF root.
Just flash TWRP not cwm its not compatible

Go to playstore and install supersu, it will say that root binary must be updated.it will ask you to reboot if it is successful. Then go to playstorw again and install twrp manager.and install twrp.it should be quick!

Uber 600 is a toolchain and it should be the best kernel for this phone because its faster than other toolchains, but is just a tad less stable.it worth flashing though!!

Well, you are right, but,i prefer to post the basics because i want to people understand what are they doing instead of blindly doing things. Amplify is a very good app but you should know what you are doing!!
Anyways, thanks for these words and as always im very happy to help for anything!

I keep getting software update notifications, but I have installed a newer firmware (archis) than what I think the phone want to download (the latest version for my region, sweden is older than archis firmware in his thread).
going into settings I do not really see a option to disable to search for these updates.
Do you also get this?
You need to edit this post, you should not be advertising warez ...
The developer of the app in question is also a member of these forums and I wouldn't like him seeing other members pointing to his software being cracked...

Do you really think 4.3 makes impact on Camera quality???
Thanks to the OP and some comments here! Maybe black themes like this could help with the battery life as well http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/themes-apps/vrtheme-allbacksblack-s3-3-hologrey-t2341829
