Mate 8 problems - Mate 8 General

Hi hope someone can help?
I've messed up my mate 8 by downloading the firmware app and inadvertently flashed with wrong firmware.
I've got a L29C636 Which I believe is Asia model
but I've used DC Phoenix and tried to flash a C636 Stock rom.
It all flashes ok but the second step wants to put the phone in update mode which I can never do.
I've tried using a C636 update.app and put it on a SD card in the dload folder but it does nothing when I press vol up + vol down + power, all I get is the huawei logo for ages then either
your device has failed verification and may not work properly
or if I hold the power button for long enough it gives me the standard EMUI wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache etc
Anyone any idea to recover?
By using DC Phoenix I managed to glean I think I've got NXT-L29C432B192 but have also seen NXT-C900B170 too!
Mighty confused, can anyone offer any advice please?

ok dc phoenix thinks I have nxt-l29-C636B180 now
Do you think I could try to get this firmware and flash with that? Anyone know where to get that? I can't find it anywhere.
When I use adb and phone in fastboot mode and use adb devices I get nothing even though device manager has driver loaded called Android Sooner Single ADB Interface
Am I wasting my time as ADB can't see it over USB?
Anyone any pointers please?

Not 3 button method.
Shut down, press power and vol+ button and soon as you see Huawei logo, release power button but keep pressing vol+ button until you enter recovery. Do factory reset.

You can follow the instructions in this website
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-8/general/best-easiest-to-rollback-to-emui-4-0-t3507399
You first need to dload the update.app from the roll back package. For me the one from Russia work (you can try all three to see if one work). If any of the three rollback update.app work then you can use dload again the update.app that works before you install nougat. After that the phone will be locked. You need to unlock it again if you want to install twrp. You should be able to recover the phone as long as you can use dload and enter into fastboot mode (keep pressing the power button until it turn off then press the volume down at the same time connect it to the PC. If you can shut it down from the recovery menu, it will give you more time to do this).
This happened to me before and I used this method to recover the phone. For me the rollback from Russia works and I can dload back to L09C432B320.

[Guide] Fix for boot-loop and bricked Honor 8 (probably others too)

The reason I'm making this thread is because I was trying to root my Honor 8 and things just didn't work out in TWRP. Rebooted my phone and I realized I had bricked it since it would not boot after 10 minutes. Solutions seem to be scattered throughout different threads so here's guide for when you're stuck in a boot loop or you bricked your Honor 8.
What you'll need:
1. The firmware currently you are on. @Coolyou posted a guide for a firmware finder. Here is the post.
2. SD Card
What to do:
Step 1.
Download the correct firmware. It will be a .zip file.
Step 2.
Create a folder called dload in the root of your SD card, not your internal storage. Copy the .zip file the folder and unzip it or unzip it else where and copy the content into the dload folder
Step 3.
Power off Honor 8 (if possible, sometimes it'll auto boot up when forced shutdown)
Step 4.
Make sure your device is not plugged into a computer as it will load into something else.
Hold Vol+ & Vol- & Power. It will being to install the firmware from the dload folder if done correctly. If it instantly fails that means you downloaded the incorrect firmware the device is already one.
You're done! However, if your device does not go past the startup logo within 3 minutes proceed to step 5.
Step 5 is probably necessary as everytime I've bricked my device, I've had to do the next step.
Step 5.
Power off. Hold power and Vol+. Once in Recovery mode (not eRecovery), clear cache and format your device. Once done, reboot.
Ta-da, you're device is now back to normal.
Unfortunately, I cant seem to get to the part where it detects my dload folder and installs from the UPDATE.APP file. My phone keeps auto restarting whenever I try to turn off, and since bootloader is locked, I cant flash any images. Every time I hold down Vol+, Vol-, and power button the phone just vibrates twice and goes to the blue honor boot logo. I have successfully managed to get to the Fastboot menu by holding down Vol- and power button, but this menu is useless as bootloader is locked. Is there anything I can do?
Let go off the power button after the first vibration. Also make sure your phone is not plugged to a pc. With pc connected it boots into eRecovery instead of recovery. Good luck!
Edit:Also the guide does not make it 100% specific but the dload folder on the sd card needs to have the update.app file right inside it. If the structure is sd\dload\folder\update.app it also won't work.

Add me to the list, two soft bricked Honor 8's. Once I made the jump to Nougat and installed the Nougat version of TWRP 3.0.1-1, I started having issues. So, I tried to downgrade to FRD-L04C567B150 from FRD-L04C567B320 and had big problems installing B150. Always getting unable to load /data Has to be something to do with the new data structure of Nougat I have a copy of the full stock rom of B150 and B162 and have wiped the phone. I am trying to dload full B150 from SDcard but will fail immediately and says Wrong Version. I can get to fastboot and ADB. I also tried custom ROMs but that wont work because they need the basic Nougat structure to work from. I don't have a clue how to proceed seeing that I can't even wipe the phone and install a Full stock ROM B150 or B162??
Any help would be extremely appreciated.

UPDATE : It freaking worked!!! After an entire weekend of hair pulling and going way deep into Nougat and MM trying to find the cause, it was a simple Full ROM B162 that I dloaded and three fingered from the SD card (of course it has to be the exact ROM for your phone such as FRD-L04C567B###). WOW, two phones are back. I'll stay at FRD-L04C567B162 and like it.
Lesson Learned: When you try to do an eRecovery and the Honor 8 starts downloading new firmware from the internet it creates a new folder on the sd card called something like HwOC. In that folder is stored the new firmware that erecover plans to use on the recovery. IF this HwOC folder is present and you try to do a Full ROM three finger install with the B150 or B162 firmware in the dload folder, the recovery will stop and say something like invalid version. To fix, remove the HwOC folder so that only dload is present, now do the three finger start and the firmware will install without error. Worked twice for me.
Hi, my device is still not booting up after installing the matching dload firmware on my device from the honor 8 website (FRD-L09).
Is there still anything I can do to maybe get this fixed?
I created a nandroid backup of all partitions that I were able to back up, but even rolling back all partitions did not make it boot again.
Sadly, I am not able to get the device into e.g. fastboot mode anymore because it is not booting anymore and therefore cant get an adb shell on it.
I can still enter recovery mode, but when trying to boot it just stays at the blue screen with the white "honor" text after the short boot animation with the 3d text
Hi,
my phone keeps entering eRecovery and my PC does not recognize it so please how can I access it to install files. I think I have installed a wrong boot.img and recovery.img version of firmware.
Please I need help.
Thanks

[Solved] Bricked my P9 Lite (VNS-L31) while attempting B130 update from SD card

Hi there !
I just switched from a Windows Phone to a Huawei P9 Lite (VNS-L31), my first Android phone (never too late, I guess?).
I was following the instructions provided in this toolkit (https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...nt/europe-vns-l31-toolkit-bootloader-t3432873) to unlock the dual SIM support, as this phone is from Orange and locked to single SIM.
I successfully unlocked the bootloader, installed TWRP and rooted the phone. I got to the stage when updating the phone from the SD card is requested. Stock firmware was L31C109B120, new firmware is L31C432B130.
The update seemed to progress well, but actually no, as the phone is now bricked (black screen, screen will not power on, does not display anything).
Powering the phone with any combination of Vol+, Vol- and Power depressed results in nothing at all.
So I installed adb + fastboot and at least the phone is recognized in fastboot. I successfully unlocked the bootloader (again?) within fastboot with my unlock code.
Now I am able to manually flash the boot, recovery and system partitions from the B130 firmware. Unfortunately, this results in nothing, the phone will still not boot to anything else than fastboot mode.
I have limited knowledge/experience with Android phones, so I am kind of stuck now. I have read several topics and fastboot definitely seems to be the way to go, but there must be something that I am doing wrong.
I was wondering whether someone would be willing to give me some insight, please?
Any help would be highly appreciated!
Many thanks in advance,
Regards,
Eric.
[Edit]: I was able to flash the stock VNS-L31C432B130 firmware but not with fastboot... I had to use DC-Phoenix and pay 15€ to do so. Is there a free equivalent to DC-Phoenix yet?
Hello
I think you should disconnect the cable and press on volume + and power erevovery wipe factory, cache. Restart
If it does not work, start again.
With the toolkit, bootloader code, installs twrp,
Go download c432oeminfo double sim.zip Badwolf
Fashe c432oeminfo.zip.
switch off.
Doad b130.
Yes, this solution saved my phone... And u can try flash with fastboot any partition (recovery, system....)
Odoslané z VNS-L21 pomocou Tapatalku
Thank you for your help, guys!
Yet, nothing happens when I disconnect the cable and try to reboot the phone while holding Vol+ and Power. Vol- and power or Vol+, Vol- and Power do not deal any better result unfortunately. The screen remains off.
I believe I should delete/flash something through fastboot, but I do not know what! I believe I have tried everything I could think of, and I am running out of ideas...
Yet the phone is accessible through fastboot, so all hope is not lost, right?
Well, I have good news: I managed to reflash my phone by following this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/hua...green-t3485836
You have to download and use DC-Phoenix to flash a stock firmware to the phone.
The bad part is that it is a paid service that will cost you 15€... but for me it was worth it in comparison with having a dead phone.
I wonder why no one has come up with a free equivalent to DC-Phoenix yet?

Hardbrick: System / Recovery / Fastboot not booting, LED flashing red-green

I bricked my P8Lite when flashing the original firmware from withing TWRP.
Now I can neither boot into System, Recovery nor Fastboot. I tried all Power / Volume button combinations.
The screen stays black, the LED is flashing red, then two times green and then red again.
I disconnected the battery and reconnected it, still no progress.
Can anyone help me?

I extracted the Huawei Firmware for P8Lite (the correct one, I checked that) with Huawei Update Extractor and then installed from within TWRP.
After that I wiped TWRP asked me to wipe the cache and I did so.

Why did you extract the update.app from the update.zip!?!?
Of course it is bricked. I'm pretty sure you didn't edit updater-script to symlink the files not write the update.app.
I've seen this kind of brick 2-3 months ago on general or help section, search and maybe you will find something helpful.
somewhere I had the similar issue. Try this once:
Shut down your mobile
Connect your mobile (while it's turned off) to laptop while pressing the vol down key
This should boot you into fastboot mode
amageek nope, wont help. had that same kind of brick. Need to buy a new phone. Even Huawei Care cant fix it .

Huawei P9 Lite Mini (SLA-L22) Unbrick

Hello,
I am a new user and I have a problem.
I have tried unlocking the bootloader using this tool: https://github.com/SkyEmie/huawei-honor-unlock-bootloader, but after a few days of unsuccessful unlocking I gave up and rebooted the phone; it tried to reboot, but it had hanged on the Huawei screen (powered by Android). I have tried recovering with Huawei's eRecovery (Power + Volume up + USB, Error: "Getting package info failed") and via factory reset key combo (Power + Volume up + NO USB, Failed: goes to 3% of factory resetting and then reboot and repeat forever, sometimes goes up to 99% and just hangs). I have foud that some people put the UPDATE.APP into the dload folder on the root of a micro SD card and use TeamMT firmware finder to download the correct firmware. The problem is that I don't know which exact firmware to use, but that doesn't matter because they are all unavailable (says just "An error ocurred" whe I click on the download link).
I should point out that the phone is NOT unlocked.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi, if you want flash Stock ROM using dload method (SD card etc.), download and install Service ROM . I think your region is C432 (? - it's very important!) , if so, then download https://androidhost.ru/2AK0
firmware for Dual SIM ,
or, https://androidhost.ru/30QS for Single SIM.
Instructions can be found in ReleaseDoc folder.

thank you very much for your reply. I followed the instructions You provided and flashed the file for the dual sim model and the phone started booting android. It again hanged at the Huawei logo, but this time while loading Android, and not before (the difference is that on the first screen before loading OS is says Powered by Android and on the second one it does not). I then factory resetted it and waited some time and it booted completely fine. After around half an hour it gave me a notification about a system update (ver. SLA-L22C432B176), which was applied completely successfully.
Thank you very much for your help once again.
