After doing an official LG Bootloader Unlock and installing TWRP, I accidentally restored the EFS partition from my other US996 when attempting to "clone" it (not the IMEI, though, of course).
First thing that happened was a RED exclamation triangle (instead of ORANGE) with CORRUPT message, no boot.
So, I used LGUP to upgrade and was back to stock, locked bootloader.
When I tried to "fastboot unlock unlock.bin", I got an error. The IMEI shown was all zeros and the message, naturally said "Invalid unlock.bin file".
I used the DirtySanta method to unlock/TWRP/SuperSU, but, even though I could get into TWRP recovery, in normal boot, the phone wants a secure boot password and gives me 22 of 30 tries left.
So, I did LGUP again and I'm back where i was before DirtySanta.
How do I fix THIS:?

Thanks, but... After spending over an hour, I can't get the diagnostic ports to show on my PC. I used HiddenMenuCall.apk to get to the service menu and enabled the ports on the phone, installed the port drivers and all other software in the guide except ADB platform tools (have it) and the video that shows the procedure to hex edit the file is impossible to follow because the command window is illegible.
Anyone want a useless US996?
Going through this crap just isn't worth the $132.50 the phone cost me. I'd just as soon buy another one. I only got it as a tester/backup so I don't screw up my good one by messing with ROMs.
Try Keypad *#546368#*996#-->SVC Menu-->CRCWIZARD Test-->(Auto MID tab) & try typing in your details there (IMEI - Wifi MAC - BT Address etc)

Have in mind this is just a temporary fix (you may need to re-apply after a full wipe).

So you press MID WRITE? got to it by installing hidden menu app but nothing happens when pressing write. I only entered imei as I only have that now
Ok, now it worked after some messing around. entered imei from back of phone and the others from settings and it seems to stick but not radio still. Maybe it dos not have the right bands, I'm in Norway. But my VS995 and F800 have no radio problems

I'm using flipz 1.56 RUU and for some reason, when it tells me to connect the phone to the PC, it says it cannot be found. I usually use a MAC to connect my Hero and all sorts of stuff, and I just found a PC to be able to unroot. What seems to be the issue? I know the phone is connected because I can look at it's folders and such.

I'm having this EXACT same issue... But, if you can look at its folders, go into the notifications and set it to "charge only" and make sure USB debugging is enabled.
You need to install HTC Sync on the PC in order to use the RUU.

Grrr...oh well unrooting I stay
Am about to unroot so I can take my Hero in to sprint, I have dust under the screen. Anyone want to point out the best (easiest) way to unroot?
I seen a post where it could be done by just sdcard, would that or using the kitchen be the best way to go?
I am running a 2.1 ROM.
Thanks!

Method 1 is dead simple
Just 5 steps?? WoW
I looked for a little bit today at work and could not find anything this easy. LOL
Anyone tested this?
1. Download the following file: http://www.multiupload.com/Q3RMV5MTRF
2. place in /root of SD card
3. Reboot phone into HBoot mode, by holding Volume Down
4. Press action (the trackball) when prompted
5. Reboot phone
while i havent done it, so cant confirm, the unroot from sd does seem to be the most foolproof way to do it. all their going to look for is the correct recovery.img and stock feel, so it only makes sense
Cool, Thanks!! I am going to give this a try (15 mins before I run in to sprint) I am going to hate to go with about my custom rom and add the added stuff I get with root!

When you hold the VOLUME DOWN + POWER you don't get anything? When you plug your device into your PC, what does the device manager say? Does it show anything with a question mark next to it?

I tried earlier, it does vibrate and all, and sometimes the notification light goes on. Device manager says "Qualcomm MMC Storage USB Device". I found a solution online potentially, but i'd need a stock rom for this phone. It's much like this image right here when I check partitions.
Device Manager also shows "marshall london hs-usb diagnostics 9006".
Same issue. To solve this issue we required the flash file for that phone . it is not a flashable zip. It contains some programing files for QPST/QFIL in format of .mbn and some XML files. I have experienced the same issue . I don't get any flash file from Google. It is available in service centres through a specific server of SHARP. we can copy illegally by giving some unaccounted money to sharp service centre where the phone is available .
This issue is experienced by me by using rooting app and it corrupted my entire phone ROM except some serial numbers

I thought so. I just wish I could fix it somehow.
Did anyone ever find a solution for this. Unfortunately I have done the same thing to my phone
Hey guys, try to connect the phone to the computer and reflesh the 15m rom. Then you can reboot your phone ang use it as usual.
I have the same issue with my 306SH after attempting to root with love.t6.apk. The phone turned off as soon as I launched that app, and now it only turns off to a blank screen. If I keep the power button pressed, or any combination of power and up/down volume, it will only produce some long buzzes. When connected to a computer it generates a long list of empty drives as shown in post #3.
Any help much appreciated.

SOLVED.
Here's the ROM and flashing tool I used: mega.nz/#F!bWBnhYQb!BjHVHTxJRYwYMCB8id7M7w
This is the instructions I followed: androidmtk.com/flash-stock-rom-using-smart-phone-flash-tool
I got android up and running fine, however the IMEI's are missing when and it does not connect to network when I put in a sim.
At the bottom of the previous guide it says there is another guide to load the IMEI's on. Here's the link to that guide: androidmtk.com/use-sn-write-tool
I got stuck on Step 9 as I don't have the AP and MD files. I tried a bunch of files I could find through Google but nothing gave me the pass.
So I found an alternative way to get the IMEI by extracting the MD file from this guide: Youtube.com/watch?v=N6i7Zln1rCE and then loading it through Maui META (this guide forum.hovatek.com/thread-12328.html
Now the IMEI is there and I have signal but mobile data does not work.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if it works for you or if you found any other way to get it working completely. I need some help getting the mobile data working myself so any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Actually the problem was my simcard wasn't detecting the network properly so I just had to manually input the APN.
Here is the file I used with Maui META (with this guide forum.hovatek.com/thread-12328.html) to load the IMEIs onto the phone: mega.nz/#!eGwiiCQB!ZqHYbc8Y11R6HVa87Wr1k-dOeYk2I10U9MDIzGRchF0
still having a nvram warning: err = 0x10 error on the wifi but seems to work fine!
Enjoy

Oh, previous I encountered a problem of "PMT changed for the ROM, it must be downloaded". But it is easily to fix, just click the "Format" tab, and format it, the problem will be fixed.
And the problem of invalid IMEI, after I put new SIM card into the phone, the problem will be fixed. Thank you very much for you help!

I'm trying to match this unit with one of the threads here and it seems like no one is dealing with it, but I may have missed some relevant posts, can you please help me with that? Or maybe you know about other forums where they discuss the unit...
The device has several issues (bottom line: do not buy it, the hardware is okish but the software is horrible) and I'd really like to explore ways to customize it but I'm not even able to connect to it via adb, let alone become root or install a custom firmware...
Seem like no one heard of it. Bad luck.
I'm trying to gain root access and fix some of the bull***, but I'm running short of options.
What I know so far:
Invoking "su" from the command line (or via adb) returns a "not allowed" message;
I have no firmware to patch with magisk;
the amazing temp root does not work, the device is patched.
What else could I try?
I may try the MTK Droid Tools, but I think they use the same exploit used by the amazing temp root so I guess this is not a solution. Moreover they need Windows and I can't connect to the unit with adb in windows, only with Linux (heavens know why, the Universal ADB Drivers says it's all "ok" but adb does not see the device).
Did you get anywhere with it? I just got 825x_pro for my R56 Mini.
Nowhere. There seem to be some info in the 4pda.ru forum (in russian) but I did not dig deep into into.

Hi,
You have to go to:
- The settings
- "Car infotaiment" and click in the high right corner on the "cogwheel" and you get a little window where you have to type the numbers (example: 5678; 8888, ....etc ) And you get the hidden menu !

More information would be helpful. Bootloader unlocked? TWRP installed?
If for some strange reason you have Android 10 and a functional copy of TWRP you should be able to delete the password data.
It's been a while since i actually did this but it's more than likely possible, if you're on Android 11 then no you'll have to wipe.
Have you tried to log in using safe mode? Might offer a second method instead of the pattern.
