[Q] Weird Soundproblem

Seems not the usual bug.
Softreset won't do it.
Haven't tried hardreset by now (for obvious reasons
Speaker and mic went dead - more or less - while nothing is connected to the phone.
More or less? Yes, I can hear the ringtone while someone calls me.
I can't activate the 'Mithören'-function (monitoring? Sorry, don't know the english term - push the green button for a few seconds).
I haven't used the headset-connector for several month.
Headset-speaker works. Headset-mic not. It records some 'beeps' and that's it. Even tried second headset.
Mic and speaker and monitoring-function will work fine, when MDA2 is connected to external power. It won't work while just the power-adapter oder an usb-cable is pluged into the MDA2 without the power supply being connected to a jack or the USB-cable connected to a PC.
Speaker and mic work fine for some seconds after power is unplugged.
While in the craddle mic & speaker work fine - even if the craddle isn't connected to anything!
Got some problems with the craddle to, but that a different matter.
I really hope you can help me. I would try hard reset only if all other options fail.

I would try hard resetting without messing with configurations etc. Just use Sprite backup to backup data and restore it after HR.
> use Sprite backup to backup data
OK. Where to find a version that will install from SDCard (problems with craddle) on MDAII with Windows Mobile 2003 (PPC 4.20.0)?
Even /products/sprite-backup/pocket-pc-edition links to v6.5.5.11 and >=v5 won't install on WM2003.
Will mail [email protected] for a trial version.

Maybe it helps to fix the headphone jack. In some cases a bad electric connection is the reason for such behaviour. Does twisting the device-case change the sound, like inserting into the crandle?
Is the big jack in the middle clean and fixed?
> Maybe it helps to fix the headphone jack.
I rode the regarding thread and tried to fix it by (un)plugging the headset several times.
> Does twisting the device-case change the sound, like inserting into the crandle?
Ähhh, that fixed it - for a few minutes.
Re- and unplugging an USB-cable fixed it again - dunno for as long.
> Is the big jack in the middle clean and fixed?
It's clean but a little bit damaged/'displaced', because the MDA fell down several month ago with connector attached (damned double-faced Scotch tape).
Seems like a problem with the main jack. :-(

[Q] Built-in mic muted when using TSR headphone

Hello,
when I plug-in my headphones (3.5" jack, 3pin TRS connector, no microphone) the phone thinks they have a mic and the built-in microphone is disabled and I cannot make calls (I could, but the other person would not hear my voice).
I did check with ddms and I've noticed that android does not detect any differences between TRS 3-pin connectors (w/o mic) and TRRS 4-pin ones (w/mic, like the one that ships with the phone):
Code:
08-12 17:58:59.340: VERBOSE/HeadsetObserver(531): Intent.ACTION_HEADSET_PLUG: state: 1 name: Headset mic: 1
so I though it could be a hardware limitation/issue or a kernel one. The status icon (Gingerbread 2.3.4) always shows a headset with a tiny mic, whether I connect a headset with mic or just standard headphones.
My question is: does this problem appear only on my blade (i.e. is my blade broken?) or is it a "general" issue present in all blades?
thank you for your help

It's not just your Blade. I'm running stock 2.2 (got it today) and while there's no mic on the icon, the phone always disables the built-in mic even when I plug in regular headphones. Sound recorder and voice calls are both affected.
Have you found a workaround? I'd be OK without detection if the phone always assumed the attached headset doesn't have a mic and keeps the built-in one enabled.
Same here. Im on CM7 and even if i plug in the 3.5mm (3pin) headphones, the phone mic gets disabled and in the status bar i can see the icon of headset (no matter when i use headset or headphones).
Keeping this aside, i had a more worst problem. If i plugin any headphones or headset other than the stock one provided with phone, they wont fit in the socket correctly. Even if i push them tightly into the socket (and left) , they will come out by 1 or 2 mm making the headphones unusable (what happens is only one ear phone works). And both earphones work as long as i keep it pressed and held tightly into the socket. But i cant hold it all the time i was hearing to the music right...? WTF... And i figured out why this happens. This is due to the back cover which was designed foolishly. The back cover of phone has a tiny hole for headset jack which prevents the other 3.5mm headphones to completely enter into it (this is sure in my case). If i remove the back cover and plugin 3.5 headphones they will be fit completely without any problem (even though here i cant use the phone mic). Another foolish design of the back cover is the exposure of the power switch making it more vulnerable to damage.
I had an idea to cut out the extra plastic thing at the headset hole of back cover to make it usable with 3.5mm headphones, but i fear i would loose warranty. Will i loose the warranty if i do so..?
After watching all these i think the headset jack of our phone is not correct. It might be having difference in the connector lengths. Don't wanna blame the rom/kernel for this. After all those were just my opinions.
Exactly the same happens on my blade using default 2.1 rom that came with the phone.
As for the above post, perhaps you should see if you can get a new back cover? Its only yours having that issue

I have exactly the same problem with some jacks but not all (my headset from Nokia fits in well, a retractable jack I've bought for my car fits almost well (it never drops by itself but if you touch it to much, it does)).
The biggest problem I have is that some applications ("music" and "listen") start playing when the faulty contact happens, even if I was listening for music in another application (jamendo) this is really a pain because jamendo keeps playing music and a podcast starts to play in "listen". Is there a way to tell those applications not to react to the headset being plugged/unplugged ? (I guess the faulty contact may be acting like a remote control press or something...)
Thanks for your ideas
Edit : it seems related to this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=625731 and to this http://android.modaco.com/topic/301335-the-headphone-bug/ and it seems that this application : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.idunnolol.headsetblocker&hl=fr can be used to configure the behavior. I'll try it tonight and tell if it solved the problem.

Bluetooth no audio for calls (whapping noise)

I recently got a replacement Samsung S7 edge from my supplier as I had cracked the screen on the original one.
I "new" S7 edge doesn't work for phone calls with my Bluetooth headset, a Sony MW1, as my original one did. It's fine for media audio but for phone calls it just makes a thumping sound when someone speaks, and so it's entirely inaudible.
I've uninstalled any audio recording apps (and disabled Google Voice) as I've read these can conflict, but it didn't help even after a hard reset.
I've tested the headset itself against another phone (s8) and it works fine.
I haven't tried factory formatting my phone yet as it took a while to set up, but I did boot it into safe mode - which I understand should prevent any background services (such as those that monitor the mic like "OK Google") from loading automatically.
all pointers?

bottom speaker quieter than top speaker

hi. first sorry for my bad english, I am from Austria^^
i got a few days ago a new X Compact (build 34.2.A.2.69), but is it normal that the top speaker is much louder than the bottom?
if i listen a youtube video etc. the sound from bottom speaker is very low und muffled.
in german forum i read that the speakers must be play ~1 hour and than the calibrate themselves, but it didnt helped.
i tried every audio setting, and factory reset, but always the same
here i made a little video from it with a speaker test that i found:
(please insert the "p" in the link, because i need 10 posts for url links)
htt://eventview.eu/video/show_640482
BUT if i go to accessibility and activate the "mono audio" both speakers have the same loudness at this speaker test (but the songs are nevertheless on top much louder again)
i tried it with diagnostics, safe mode, and service test (*#*#7378423#*#*)
but always the same (bottom speaker is much quieter)
i think that could not be original so
do you think its a hardware issue and should i send it to sony to repair?
thanks in advance
Hi sorry for my english . Poland here
I have exacly the same issue. My phone is one month old and bottom speaker doesnt soundt as laud as top one. I heard thet this is normal , but my previous x compact almost stoped playing music via bottom speaker also there was problem with my microphone so i returned the phone and recived brand new (month ago) . Sony support told me that bottom speaker sound level is fine and its tottaly norma that bottom one is not as laud as top one. Imo x compact is a fine phone and overall works great ! camera could be better and curved screen is annoying love it anyway ! So the new phone still got diferent volume level for both speakers but now its less hearable, and as i said before sony says its normal.
I think you should send your phone to sony becouse it sounds realy quiet (my old one was like yours) . Sony support is pretty good and you should get new phone within few days ( i got mine in 4 days ) . peace
Regards
hello and thanks
where did you send the phone? to Sony? and get the new one from them?
i wrote a mail to sonymobile.com/at/ (Xperia Care), but they said i should send it to: mobiletouch.at (service partner)
and one question to all: can i get problems with the warranty when i was in the service menu to test the speakers? (*#*#7378423#*#*)
because i wrote that in the mail to sony + mobiletouch, but now i read that some manufacturer's void the warranty if you go into the "hidden" service menu
Yeah my phone also top speaker is louder than bottom so I guess this is normal
however I had a HTC desire 820 before that both speaker were equal and much louder than this phone...

I gave IT back to MediaMarkt (shop where i bought IT)
Service menu shouldnt be an issue becouse Sony support advised me to check it first via service menu then factory reset etc. Obviesly nothing worked so i went to MM and 4 days later BANG! new phone
Seems it's so by design :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/rxs-dontbelive-stereomod-xperia-xz-t3569123
-Cut 150hz Frequencies only for bottom speaker (Avoid Crackling)
-removed 150hz limitation for top speaker (more bass)
hmm, now i am even more uncertain
can please someone else go in the service menu and test the right and left speaker?
is there much volume difference, or are both same loud at your X Compact?
thanks again!
My Xperia X Compact has the same issue, but it's not that noticeable. Acutally, I don't mind it at all.
is there a change with the 7.1.1 update at the speakers volume?
(can't test it, because i sent my X Compact to repair)
No change here
It seems the upper speaker has much bigger magnet.
I work with metal and I have to clean metal dust from upper speaker with magnet daily, but lower speaker never gets dusty.
When you hold magnet over upper speaker it really attracts and magnet stays in place.
Lower speaker doesn't even hold the magnet.
If someone with root could pass me mixerpaths.xml file I could try to mod it to enhance the volumes.

P Smart 2019 - Headphone Remote Problem

Hi folks,
I noticed that on both the original Huawei headset as well as a JBL headset (both wired) the respective remote control on the headsets stops responding after some time or a various number of clicks when listening to the music.
The music continues to run normally on the headphones and can also be skipped and paused via the app but not over the button on the cable. The Google Assistant will also no longer pop up when the button is pressed for a longer time.
When I reboot the phone without touching anything on the cable or pull it out and reinsert, the remote works again normally ...
I've already performed a hard-reset with a complete new installation which did not change anything about the behavior described above.
I'm a little bit concerned that it's a defective hardware....
But this should be a software problem if a simple reboot fixes that problem???
