Oneplus 6T and Verizon? - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

Should I or should I not get the Oneplus 6T I'v have read on the net and see that there are some problem's here and there. I see lot's of fixes but is it all worth it or there just to many problem's. Or are these problem's overstated.

Works fine with Verizon. You will not get 3g or 1x if that means anything to you. Apparently Verizon will be all 4g by the end of 2019. When the 6t first came people were having lots of issues due to how Verizon handles phones with cdma. You had to call or contact live chat and request the phone line be cdma-less. However this has changed . I got mine about a week ago and I was able to put my sim card in 6t, login to my Verizon account, click activate phone on existing line and the cdma-less feature was added to my like automatically and I immediately started getting text messages. It's been smooth sailing since. I actually get better reception with this phone compared to my OG pixel XL.

I wasn't. Had mine since release day. I did have to do a few online chats to get SMS to work. But no big deal.

I'm interested in buying a 6T as well and I'm on Verizon. So you're saying you just put in your SIM from your former working Verizon phone and all functions are working correctly on your 6T? Mms,sms, incoming and outgoing calls, etc? Wasnt sure if I would still need to contact Verizon to get everything set up correctly. Only reason I ask us that I see a lot of mixed statements about the 6T working on Verizon.

You will still need to contact them to get SMS to be received correctly. You will need CDMA_LESS or LTE only set up. It took me two minutes on chat.
No issues since.

I activated my new phone using my old phone so that Verizon could send me a security code. The CDMA-less was already checked once they activated the 6t. Then swapped the SIM cards from old phone to new. No issues, no fees. It works great and I'm in a very rural area usually on Band 13

What about Verizon prepaid? Verizon doesn't offer same chat based support for prepaid.

You guys aren't saying whether that is prepaid or postpaid. My EMEI comes up properly when doing a BYOD for postpaid, but it says "incompatible" when I use the BYOD tool for prepaid.
I would like to use prepaid - it is substantially cheaper than postpaid, and obviously anyone here doesn't have to subsidize the phone, so it doesn't seem like there is any advantage, and only disadvantages, to going postpaid.

I just got mine yesterday. I set it up using the following fix / process from Verizon. Had zero issues and everything worked from the start.
Verizon tells us that an easier fix than calling into support may be to login to your account, then head to My Verizon>My Device>Activate or Switch Device>Activate On an Existing Line, and then follow the instructions that pop-up.

This is the process I did when I got mine.
I also took out the SIM from my old phone and made sure both were turned off before I started.
I think the instructions on Verizon say something like this also.
**This was also a NEW SIM CARD** old one was over 3 years old
No problems been working great.

This. Just log into my Verizon and do the chat with a representative, and tell them you need CDMA_LESS and tell them your pin and Wich line. Also use Sim slot two.

Looks like a party 256 8 coming Friday.

Tried both sim slot, and doesn't seem to matter. I have mine on slot 1 and no issues.

I'm on prepaid and I was with the second wave of users who had to go through the fiasco of not getting SMS and MMS. took me 4days to make it finally working.
now I live in a semi rural area and a lot of times signal drop to 3g. I was skeptical about this phone. but it worked out well for me. I still have volte symbol. I just have to be a tad careful about not dropping to 3g. if the following 3 things are very important to you than this phone is not for you.
1. WiFi calling
2. 3G service
3. notification light
I don't know if visual voicemail works or not because i don't use it.

T-Mobile Galaxy Tab is WebConnect Data Plan *ONLY* - Verified

Story:
Last Saturday (11/13/10), I had gone into my local T-mobile store with the intention of purchasing a galaxy tab. The idea being that with a whole lot of help from the great devs and everyone on here that I would soon have a fully functional phone. The only way to achieve this is to use a plan that has voice/txt/data. I currently have the unlimited even more plus plan with my G1. The representative that I had spoke with on saturday assured me that all I would have to do is pull the sim from my G1 and use it in the tab. So I proceeded to purchase the tab *at full price*.
Got home, changed sims out. The only website that I could go to was the t-mobile site and the main google page. I could send/receive txt msgs. Wifi worked fine.
Today (11/15/10), I had called and set up an appointment with the same representative to help me fix the data issue. Got there after work. They were trying to help me when the manager stepped in, told the sales associate to go in the back and that he would take over. From that point on I was verbally berated and talked down to by said manager. Ending in the manager saying that everything that I was told by the sales representative was a miscommunication or that things that I was told, in front of other sales reps, never happened. At that point, I calmly said that I was well within my period to return the Tab at full price. The manager said fine in a huff. That went smoothly until he told me that there would be a return/restocking fee. And I'll admit it, that would be when I lost it, said somethings I shouldn't have. Finally paid the fee, got my money back, and jumped on here. Suffice it to say I am still furious. And I will never use T-mobile again, none of my family will ever use t-mobile again, I will tell everyone I know not to use T-mobile.
Good luck on getting the phone option to work. The webconnect data plan is the only option you have for a plan and t-mobile is actively blocking voice on it.
That's too bad because someone on here from T-Mobile claims that non-contract $600 T-Mobile Samsung Tab with Even More Plus plan with data portion provisioned for Android works. Save me time and money as I was about to go this route.
Unlocking doesn't help
Confirmed. Also, to my experience, unlocking doesn't help. If you unlock, you can use an AT&T card, but a T-mobile SIM card with an "Even More Plus" plan (voice + unlimited data) will only go to Google and T-mobile. What is wrong with T-mobile?
Well, the real question is, does a SIM from SimpleMobile (on the T-Mobile network) work. I thought I'd seen a report that it did, and only the software was a problem currently.
yes, if your tab is unlocked, and you flash the euro firmware, it works fine, other than running on edge. i am using it myself.

That manager is a jerk!!! You should not have to pay the restocking fee. I know it says so on the receipt but I returned mine/full refund with no question ask!!!
Call Tmob up if you want that fee back!
Thats why i returned my tmobile tab for an att tab, now i have voice and 3g life is good! By the way tmobile does charge a $10 restocking which is no biggy.

Wondering if the Euro flash would allow 2g w/o webconnect data plan? I have Android data currently w/T-Mo.
Using my ANR plan ($0) with my at&t tab ($0) and everything works... data, sms, voice, mobile hotspot, etc. Sweet.
TMobile Galaxy Tab Calls DOES Work
FYI All. I have tested and currently use the TMobile Galaxy Tab to make and receive calls. No Problems at all. As a matter of a fact...It Works GREAT!!! Follow the directions to install the Phone tab. Insert a TMobile SIM card with a data and phone plan on it....and Boom. Works Awesome!!!

The one thing I advice you to do is have direct comms with your knowledgable rep. Ask him when he works with no managers. That way he can work your account and have no one to question what he is doing. Its your device, its your money! Just dont ask the rep to do anything crazy.keep in mind too if there are alot of customers, let them go so you can have more time for hacking.

read the post wrong sorry
Confirmed.
I just got off the phone with T-Mobile Customer Service.
Without providing alot of detail to the Rep. giving the IMEI, He confirmed that they only allow tablets for data only.
to the respect that it is 'their' Infrastructure, and they can do what they like. There really isn't any sensible reason to even have this line of separation unless you consider they are trying to control 'phones' and 'tablets' as seperate commodity.
The recent post from a Store 'rep' pretty much confirms this. It's a manual human intervention. Which now recently looks like they have all known IMEI of certain tablets to filter for people trying to use their tablets as a phone.
Still lame. This adds another notch to jump ship in November to Sprint.
To WhiteBeau, i can confirm that i have a regular phone plan on my device (GALAXY TAB GT-P1000). The way I was able to acquire this was by not providing them with my IMEI # (the less info you give them the better), and I JAILBROKE my table to totally REMOVE MY TMOBILE SECURITY PAGE (SPLASH PAGE) that pops up asking for your info. However the downfall to this is that it wipes out your IMEI #, but this is something I can deal with. Now i get with my $30 a month plan is 100mnts talk, unlimited text (pics & vids) and unlimited internet (first 5gigs @ 4g speed). So now i dont feel like Im getting molested by Tmobile... lol.......

Need some advice about getting on VZW

Hey guys. I've been highly considering this phone to replace my note 3. I currently have unlimited data on Verizon, don't plan on losing it. Have a few questions.
-Are there any limitations using this phone on Verizon?
-How do I get a sim card for it? 3rd party retail stores?
-Any significant things I should be aware of?
-If at some point I want to switch to Sprint, can I use the same phone?
Thanks guys appreciate the help
I am currently on Verizon and have had no issues. I used same sim card that I had in the Note3, just had to trim the card to fit.
Hi, I use this phone on Verizon and as far as I know you will be able to get a sim from any of Verizon's retail stores. It activated on the first try using the meid and the sim's iccid. This phone will also work on Sprint without any issues.

saying that there are no issues isn't exactly right, I have mine on Verizon and for one the visual voicemail does not work.. There's also no way to get it to work.
There are some work around you can do to get visual voicemail with Google Voice, but if you want to use HD voice you have to turn those off.
The My Verizon Mobile app does not work on here, and the Nexus version that they made for the Nexus 6 does. Or at least it would if you are willing to go and change to one of their new plans. They actually have now pay wall the Nexus My Verizon Mobile app behind a plan change. If you don't want to change your plan, you cannot log into the app anymore.
Other than that no problems whatsoever for me. You can go get a SIM card if you want at any local Verizon or you can call Verizon explain to him what's going on and will send you one for free.
This is really a world phone, you can take it anywhere. I took mine with me on vacation to Belize earlier this year and used it just fine down there.
I'd rather not cut my card, because I don't think I'm that graceful where it won't get messed up. But at Verizon they can activate the sim, and I should still be able to keep my plan?

The majority of this post is correct and exactly my experience, except that you CAN have HD calling and Google voice for voicemail. I use it daily and have no issues. This was originally thought to be true but has since been proven to work.
I got my sim from a company owned Verizon store. They did give me a little grief saying if its not recognized by their system they can't activate it, but I verified on their site before-hand that it is recognized and they looked it up to find the same thing.
So you have Visual Voicemail working with HD voice also working?
How did you do that?

Exactly right. Seems to have a better grasp of the content over the VZW option as well.
I prefer Google Voice visual voicemail too (getting the texts/emails), but everything I saw when trying to get HD voice to work said that they don't and can't work together. So again I ask, how do you get those working together? I know what it is, I had Google Voice's version of it working fine before.

I had no issues when I activated my 5X onto my account with unlimited data. My plan went unchanged. I simply walked into my local Verizon store and they activated a nano sim for my 5X. I moved over from a Verizon GSIII.

There's nothing special that needs done. Just do the normal setup of GV and done. I've had Google voicemail and HD voice since day 1 when the phone launched.

Same here, Google Voice and HD calling, no problems. That's on all three of the family 6ps with unlimited data.

Inconsistent 3G & LTE performance, defective unit?

Don't get me wrong, I love this phone despite the bugs. Software bugs.
However I've a serious issue regarding the 3G/LTE module. 3G/LTE performances are not consistent at all.
Sometimes it goes well (chatting, sending pictures, even testing the speed with a speed test) but other times the connection "hangs" and I'm not able to do anything for seconds or minutes (download pictures from whatsapp, sending text with telegram or open web pages). After that time, the connection seems to work again. When this Is happening, phone is at full signal.
Please note that I never had these issues with all my previous phones (Nexux 5, Nexus 5X, OnePlus 3T) with the same SIM card and under the same conditions (places, time of the day). I've performed all the updates available (software version 4.5.4) and cleaned the cache many times using the recovery.
I'm asking your help: is there some debug feature I can activate in order to see what is happening and understand the problem? Many thanks.

Basically you'd call in and ask to register your phone. It's not actually necessary but they do this anyway when you ask for a replacement sim. All they do is get your IMEI off your phone and add it to your account. Though with the 3 it already showed up during use. I don't think it matters much at all. Haven't had an issue with the 5 in Wisconsin, Minnesota or Nevada. I've simply plugged in the sim to this phone and went on my way since day 1.

Just to give you the big picture, I'll include everything that happened when I got my OP5 in terms of registering the phone on AT&T's network...
I got the OP5 and I came from a OPO, so I needed a new nano SIM card. I went to AT&T and they gave me a new sim but they were not able to get LTE signal at all. I was impatient and really didn't want to wait around so the rep and myself came up with excuses on why it wasn't working so I could get out of there. HSPA+ was the best I could get and it was about ~5Mbps up/down and I was happy with that for now.
I got home and decided to call in. Usual phone tree hell with AT&T began but I eventually got a level 2 Android technician. I will note the default values within the phone tree took me to iPhone support. Anyhow, the level two technician verified that my phone was not getting LTE. Furthermore, the device was not registered in the system at all. He gave me two options (which from the sounds of things, he wasn't supposed to do) 1.) I could just deal with the HSPA+ connection and it could take up to 5 days to fully load the phone but my phone would work perfect in terms of service/coverage/data rates (HSPA+) or 2.) He could load a Samsung S7 mock profile to my phone and it would more than likely work fine but don't hold him accountable for it. He said if it were him, he'd go for the S7 mock profile so I went with it.
Immediately I got an LTE signal and he had me reboot my phone. I've zero issues as he figured would happen and everything has been perfect. I got a confirmation text message from AT&T saying my phone will be loaded by July 6th and originally the technician told me around July 14th.
Anyhow, that was just my experience and a good experience at that. Of course, popping a sim out and back into a new phone would be ideal but a non-contracted AT&T device has to get loaded at some point and time I guess, right?
Cheers!

You mean, did I remember to turn it off and back on again? Yes, we tried that. Haha
It wasn't until the AT&T tech adding the profile to the network that it works. It was instant too.

Here is my situation, and perhaps its useful info for you. I came from Axon 7 to One Plus 6t. The Axon 7, while it worked on Verizon never was certified, and outside of custom roms, would have network issues. Day one on One Plus 6t, i had verizon service in rooms and places where i never did before. When you get a One Plus 6t activated on Verizon, they convert your sim card (digitally, so perhaps account would be more accurate) to what is dubbed CDMA-less. I have had worlds better reception and net speeds on the OP6T than i ever did on my Axon 7. (sd 820, similar experience to the 10). I say go for it man. You wont be disappointed. OP6t is a verizon certified device. The only places i have issues are BFE places that only have 3g. Hope that helps.
My experience with the 6T on Verizon has been really good. Solid reception in New York's capital district (upstate, but not rural), and activation was painless when I got the phone about a month ago.
Some worries about getting service in rural areas when we travel this summer, as in the past I'd only get 3G sometimes, but I'm going to throw my old phone in the bag just in case.
With Verizon's revised 3G sunset coming at the end of the year, I'd imagine they'll need to do something about the fringe areas that are 3G only, or risk disenfranchising the people who live there.

I'm in the NY tristate area and we have a cabin upstate in the Catskills all of the carrier's other then VZW have no service. My Samsung $10+ has only 3G while my OP 6T has 4G. Very happy with reception on (VZW) my 6T.
if I use T-Mobile in slot one and Sprint in slot 2 I get lte on both Sims but been playing with prl and apns to double the Mbps you have to fastboot erase modemst1 and 2 there's thread on it same way I've done every phone to sim unlock it motoz make sure you use right apn and slot you'll be good
I've had my 6T for about a month now, on Verizon, and it's been great so far. I work in Boston and live just outside the city and have not had any issues at all.
@kend0g whats good man, yea cmon over, the water is fine here. no CDMA, no problem.

Hey guys I need a new phone, currently I'm on an HTC 10, I can't switch my service provider right now. But I'm thinking about getting a oneplus 6t. From what I've read it will work on Verizons LTE network. Can anyone that is using this on Verizon right now let me know what you think/what your experience has been so far please???

I've had mine since release. No issues.
It's certified compatible. Just make sure you call support and have CDMA_Less added as a feature.
The phone will only do LTE, which I have not found to be an issue.

Wrong thread. This is use on Verizon.
6T on Verizon around Tampa Bay, FL and other areas in FL have been pretty good. NO worse than any other phone I've had with them on the network. Really think their service is overhyped.
My wife/daugters have iPhones, our reception is identical always no matter where we are if that helps. If their service sucks, so does mine, and when good, so is mine.

When you get a One Plus 6t activated on Verizon, they convert your sim card (digitally, so perhaps account would be more accurate) to what is dubbed CDMA-less.....OP6t is a verizon certified device.

Question:
Does Volte work on the OnePlus 6T on Verizon?
I really like the specs on the phone but I would need to have simultaneous voice and data in order for me to consider purchasing it to use it on Verizon.
Thanks

Okay great.
Glad to know.
Thanks.
Now did you purchase your 6T from T-Mobile and had it when you switched to Verizon?
I plan to buy mine directly from OnePlus unless the T-Mobile version is unlocked to work on any carrier including Verizon, then I might consider getting it from T-Mobile.

I see your first question was answered already. The theory is that the T-Mobile versions are fully unlockable/convertible to the unlocked version. I say theory BC while I've known people who have done such (feel free to chime in @Harry44 ) and say it is fully converted, there is no guarantee that will remain the case forever. But AFAIK at present that is possible. I bought mine unlocked for fear of tmob versions having something to block Verizon.

I bought mine from OnePlus as well. I only purchase unlocked phones with no carrier tag attached.
I just switched to Verizon from TMobile. I was surprised when I saw that it can only use LTE. The prepaid plans are only on LTE anyways so it works out. The service is great! I had issues setting up an account due to their system saying that my phone isn't eligible for receiving SMS messages. The chat agents have created a ticket for it. I had to put my sim in my wife's iPhone in order to create an account. I am traveling this summer and no 3g is a little scary but honestly, an area where there is no Verizon service is just as fast as TMobile full bars of LTE. Overall 5stars from me (Dallas area).

op6t on Verizon

I figured by now Verizon had more experience with the op6t on their Network, wrong! After 9 calls into tech support and 4 trips to the store we managed to get data, and calls working but messages are a different story. I can send messages and MMS but cannot receive either. Does any one experience something similar and got it to work?
FYI my op6t was purchased from T-Mobile but it's fully unlocked and converted. Running beta 16
I suspect their... Ahem... Malwares are required. Verizon use certain apps like omadm.apk for instance. They wants 100% control of the network services. I am confused now that the same thing also have happened to certain Nexus 6 Shamu users a few years back, and I thought they would have fixed it by now.
Verizon isn't as top on the network game as they'd led you to believe, and both non-Verizon Nexus 6 and T-Mobile OnePlus 6T have proven that to be their Achilles heel.
Did you also check Verizon APN? There are a few and it's definitely headache-inducing. Verify that with the official Verizon APN lists you can find by googling around. I can link the APN if you want.

you need cdma-less provisioning in order to get sms/mms retrieve. they should be able to do that for you on chat.
Right... That's why.

The cdma-less feature was already added to my account. I ended up calling tech support once more since I could not edit my apn (greyed out) ? they had me go to the store and activate my sim on a dummy phone to get all the features and then pop it onto this phone... That didn't work ? . I did try using Verizon messages and ran into the same issue..

You don't need any Verizon apps or configure apn. You need to talk to level 2 tech support. They need to classify line as cdma less (LTE only) . When I finally got ahold of a level two tech, he had fixed right away. Just a heads up, since there's no cdma, texting and, obviously, calls are unreliable and downright terrible in poor signal areas. I'm seriously considering moving on to something else just for this reason.

I think the key is the network and billing accounts have to be synced....

Maybe it's just me but man they have no clue at Verizon ... I like how I told them I called before and I need to get back to level 2 tech support and his response was let me see if I can help you before I transfer you any further? once I got past that guy and talk to level 2 tech support I told them about network and billing accounts need to be synced and all they wanna do is basically ignore me and go through their protocol of trying to help me. I will keep trying though, thanks!

Yeah. My experience was the same. Remain patient and make them fix it properly. Don't bother with the store unless you like wasting time. I used the chat function on their website and sent them that link. Total bs time was around a half hour.
Forget the store, CSRs are basically clueless about literally everything. I'd try Verizon's Tweet account, Facebook account and finally their live chat function on their website. You will have even better shot at it over there.
(My opinion is that some carriers may have intentionally made their representative agents ignorant - I wouldn't say dumb - or shoot in the dark, just so they can "provide the best customer experience" which usually means they can stab your back and presumably their employees without you guys knowing what's coming. Refusing to help is not going to help Verizon and AT&T in the long run. Oh yeah, and I am rather unhappy about how Verizon handle customers' rights, like permanently locking the phone down which is technically illegal.)
