I am putting this idea out there in case anyone would be willing to develop the app. Originally I got the idea from the XBMC Remote. It has the following features:
On incoming call, display who's calling on TV screen and pause video until call is over
On incoming message, display on TV screen
This shows that it is perfectly possible to output the information. Now if we could only get similar functionality to the pc. Having your call information or texts displayed as either notification popups and/or within an app that lists all calls and txts.
We could even take it a step further by including the functionality found in google voice and other pc sms apps to give the ability to respond to txts, or answer and initiate calls to the phone.
All in all, on the user end they could be able to control all this by the use of:
Popup notifications
Small task bar with shortcuts to each option, a count of unread messages, and current phone status (ie in call etc).
A full fledged application to control all of the above, as well as view a full contact list, message history, call history, and anything else we can get the phone to output.
I know people are having problems with 160 character problems, messages not sending ,etc, but for a long time now, I've used Whatsapp. It works perfectly, it's free (for the first year) AND, the part that works out well for me is that you can text internationally, for free, since I have a TON of friends in Europe in my Gaming Community.

Get WhatsApp Messenger and say goodbye to SMS!
WhatsApp Messenger is a smartphone messenger available for Android, BlackBerry, iPhone, Windows Phone and Nokia phones. WhatsApp uses your 3G or WiFi (when available) to message with friends and family. Switch from SMS to WhatsApp to send and receive messages, pictures, audio notes, and video messages. First year FREE! ($1.99/year after)
WHY USE WHATSAPP:
★ NO HIDDEN COST: Once you and your friends download the application, you can use it to chat as much as you want. Send a million messages a day to your friends for free! WhatsApp uses your Internet connection: 3G/EDGE or Wi-Fi when available.
★ MULTIMEDIA: Send Video, Images, and Voice notes to your friends and contacts.
★ GROUP CHAT: Enjoy group conversations with your contacts.
★ NO INTERNATIONAL CHARGES: Just like there is no added cost to send an international email, there is no cost to send WhatsApp messages internationally. Chat with your friends all over the world as long as they have WhatsApp Messenger installed and avoid those pesky international SMS costs.
★ SAY NO TO PINS AND USERNAMES: Why even bother having to remember yet another PIN or username? WhatsApp works with your phone number, just like SMS would, and integrates flawlessly with your existing phone address book.
★ NO NEED TO LOG IN/OUT: No more confusion about getting logged off from another computer or device. With push notifications WhatsApp is ALWAYS ON and ALWAYS CONNECTED.
★ NO NEED TO ADD BUDDIES: Your Address Book is used to automatically connect you with your contacts. Your contacts who already have WhatsApp Messenger will be automatically displayed under Favorites, similar to a buddy list. (You can of course always edit Favorites any way you like)
★ OFFLINE MESSAGES: Even if you miss your push notifications or turn off your phone, WhatsApp will save your messages offline until you retrieve them during the next application use.
★ AND MUCH MORE: Share location, Exchange contacts, Custom wallpaper, Custom notification sounds, Landscape mode, Precise message time stamps, Email chat history, Broadcast messages and MMS to many contacts at once and much much more
Hi everyone, does anyone know:
How to group notifications for apps such as Twitter or News Republic? I have a small icon that indicates the notification for every single one of them;
I was also wondering if it's possible to "dismiss" the notification if I open the app, I shall make an example, I have 10 group notifications from a group in whatsapp and then 1 private notification, I tap on the notification and it opens whatsapp but I only check the private one, once I receive another notification the group I didn't read before will show up again, is there any way to count the group as "read" so that I'll only receive the new one?
Thanks a ton!

Hey all in SMS when you have enhanced messaging turned on there is chat stickers, does anyone know where these are stored as would love to add more if possible? these are found in the smiley section and includes hippo / cats / tigers etc and only work in SMS chat! not standard SMS (S6 to S6 people edge feature)
Hello folks,
I am having an issue that I just can't figure out.
Using the standard apps, when I get texts, no notification sounds are made but I get all text notification as just the cards.
I tried both Wear Messenger and Messages for Android (also called Wear Messages). Here is where my issue comes into play. All text notification makes the sound I set, all except for one. One single contact when using either Wear Messenger or Messages for Android just does not show up. It doesn't even show a card for that text. I have tried everything I can think of, reset the watch, deleted the contact and readded it. I am at a lose at this point on what could be causing this one contact text to not notify me via the watch. When the contact calls that works fine and I can answer a call from them. BTW, the watch is a Fossil Q Founder runner the current Android Wear version.
Normally just for one contact I would just say screw it....but it's my girlfriend. So I would like to have the notification show up on the watch when she texts me. Any ideas?
