I am putting this idea out there in case anyone would be willing to develop the app. Originally I got the idea from the XBMC Remote. It has the following features:
On incoming call, display who's calling on TV screen and pause video until call is over
On incoming message, display on TV screen
This shows that it is perfectly possible to output the information. Now if we could only get similar functionality to the pc. Having your call information or texts displayed as either notification popups and/or within an app that lists all calls and txts.
We could even take it a step further by including the functionality found in google voice and other pc sms apps to give the ability to respond to txts, or answer and initiate calls to the phone.
All in all, on the user end they could be able to control all this by the use of:
Popup notifications
Small task bar with shortcuts to each option, a count of unread messages, and current phone status (ie in call etc).
A full fledged application to control all of the above, as well as view a full contact list, message history, call history, and anything else we can get the phone to output.

I am after a small program that will beep every minute when you have unread text messages. This means that when I get a message and I am not within earshot it will be beeping when I am in earshot and I should miss fewer of my girlfriends text messages.
Anyone know of anything that can do this (or how to reconfigure the software already present so it achieves the same result).
PhoneAlarm will do what you need. Their web site is www.pocketmax.net but then again it is not a small program as apart from repeating missed call, unread SMS, MMS and e-mails it has a host of other functions such as profiles. Some also say that it tends to slow down the device. Anyway I am more than satisfied and suggest you give the free trial version a go.
Regards
Cool. Shall give it a whilr when I get time.
Any other options? Maybe free tools or something smaller?
Hey, as we all know, WM doesn't have a real and stable built-in voicemail program, due to hardware restrictions. I know you can't record the incoming sound (unless its on speaker), but I'm looking for a program that will do the following:
1. If I don't do anything when a call is received, I want the program to do nothing, meaning the call would go to the regular voicemail.
2. When I get a incoming call, I want to have 2 options: Answer or Filter. If I press filter, the program would answer the phone call, and automatically play a message (same as voicemail). Now I can't record the incoming voice, but I can listen to the caller and decide if I want to answer or not. This would give me the big advantage of a built-in voicemail and bypass the hardware restrictions.
So, to sum up, if I can't answer a call and can't listen to it at the moment, I won't lose anything, but if I want to filter my incoming calls, its a great way to do that.
What do u think, is there a program like that already? Is it possible to create one?
Message or missed call notification on screen is disabled except the home screen panel in my x1? Why is that? Is there any fix? and another query what is broadcast channels under phone settings? Enabled it , but seems to change nothing.
Broadcast channels enables you to receive broadcast messages, which are text messages that you receive from your mobile operator (or more specifically, the cell tower you are connected to). Not all operators use them. (do any really?)
I'd also like to enable the on-screen notifications on all panels... With Spb Shell Panel I see the notification icon on the taskbar, but it doesn't automatically pop up. I have no idea how to fix it, though.
1. Email: Every time email polls it deletes all messages. It drives me nuts, because I want to keep most recent emails on my phone as reference (which is what I did with my iPhone, and before that with my WM).
This happens both with the stock email and with K-9.
2. Notifications: I get a call and a notification pops up on the top bar - I pull the shade down and clear it. But then, there is also a counter on the bottom phone icon, which does not clear until I go into the call log. Any way to clear these at once (since it's the same notification)?
Also, is there a way to get a text message notification to work like the iPhone: to wake up the screen for a few seconds upon arrival, so I can see what is says and who it's from, without turning on the phone?
I hear you, Macguy!
Driving me nuts too! I'm used to WinMo phone where I can have my emails on my phone and in my PC.
Why can't anyone make such an email app for Android??? I don't want to live in the Google cloud!!!
This application keeps track of SMS notifications of incoming calls when you are not available, each mobile operator provides a different name (Missed Call Alert).
- When you receive one of these SMS you will get a notification and a call log with your contacts is updated.
- Clicking on items in the list you can call, send SMS, see the contact details, etc...
- The Find SMS feature allows to clean up SMS messages by importing older calls in the program
This program is free and supported by ads banner and reviews on the Market.
If you are a customer of a not supported mobile operator, or have problems in the recognition of SMS, send me an e-mail with the text message that usually get.
NOTE:
- Any Task Killer can interfere with the operation of the application. Be sure to place the application on the white list.
- If you use Handcent SMS, GoSMS or other applications to manage SMS remember to activate priority option in Settings.
- Finally, to make the application work it must have been opened at least once after installation.
Please post a reply with the text of the SMS you usually receive to let me add support of your country.
