SMS Message Reminder Request - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

I am after a small program that will beep every minute when you have unread text messages. This means that when I get a message and I am not within earshot it will be beeping when I am in earshot and I should miss fewer of my girlfriends text messages.
Anyone know of anything that can do this (or how to reconfigure the software already present so it achieves the same result).

PhoneAlarm will do what you need. Their web site is www.pocketmax.net but then again it is not a small program as apart from repeating missed call, unread SMS, MMS and e-mails it has a host of other functions such as profiles. Some also say that it tends to slow down the device. Anyway I am more than satisfied and suggest you give the free trial version a go.
Regards

Cool. Shall give it a whilr when I get time.
Any other options? Maybe free tools or something smaller?

SMS reminder??

Does anyone know of a tool which can automatically provide a reminder that an unread SMS has been received? I'm thinking of a beep every 30 seconds or something like that.
I guess not... How weird, people must be happy enough to miss SMS messages!!

Click to collapse
I don't think people generally miss their unread SMS, even without any reminder app. If you had Inbox summary displayed on your Today screen, then you'll know you have unread SMS or emails.
If one couldn't hear the beep when a new SMS arrived, chances are one could not also hear the subsequent 30 seconds interval reminder beeps.
have you found it?
Hi.. Have you got what you're looking for?
I often got unread sms/missed call.
When I check my XDA, it's been a few hours late..
kaiser notifications is the program for you then

Threaded O2-SMS Working on Wizard (well on my 8125 at least)

Somebody cracked/hacked the OS SMS app and posted it over on PDAPhoneHome:
http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/showthread.php?t=70428
It's working on my 8125 so far. It's kind of limited (all notifications and SMS related events still open the Outlook/Text Message app), but if you're having a conversation with one person it seems to work nicely.

i have been using this program and its great, i keep it minimized so when i get a text i just hit the icon and just use it for my sms. the only problem i have is i wish i didnt have to manually open the message so that the notification goes away. i have been looking for a reg hack that will still notify me via tone and vibration when a text comes in, but doesnt sit in the notification area. i aslo use pocketplus which allows you to preview texts and reply from them from the today screen, and right now im kind of torn between the two.
Hmmmm...I'm not using PocketPlus and I can also preview text messages and reply from the Today screen, are you sure that's not a WM5 attribute?
But you're right, it would be nice to have all the alerts, and default SMS handling go through this app, and I know there are some developers working on just that. But until then, this helps a bit.
I only use it when I get a message that I expect to turn into a conversation with lots of back and forth dialog. Most are ask/answer/done or just informational, but a few I get during my week I can pretty easily tell will involve several back and forth points. Other's text usage may not be so clear cut so this partial functionality is not good enough.

O2SMS
I am using the wizard and used the O2SMS programs for a few months. I often use the program to send to a group. I notice sometimes that while sending out to his group (1 by 1) the program will stop sending and close. Does anyone else have this issue..if not any suggestions to fix
thanks
screenshot please
I've used O2 SMS Plus also, but I must say that Palm Messaging is more, if not fully!, intergrated in the "system"
yes
i love palm messaging

[request] App to turn SMS receive off

I like to have my phone plugged into my car cradle, but don't want my passengers to read my SMSs over my shoulder.
Could someone please program an app to turn toggle SMS reception whilst leaving the phone active?
I know that this might be the ugliest of hacks, but my privacy is important to me.
Thanks.
Sounds like you want to disable access to the Inbox, not receipt of SMS right?
If so, there are some options floating around to disable access to the inbox.
If you really want to do what you describe, and prevent receipt of sms, I can write something to do that I think, subject to time pressures
Can't promise though.
But I'd suggest going for an inbox locker before an SMS blocker.

Thanks for the reply Vijay =)
What I need is to stop the phone from popping up the message in a notification. Going to the inbox isn't a problem as long as there isn't an alert or a notification.
I'll PM you the reason.
PReDiToR - from your pm, I think really you just need to disable notifications for SMS. I think if you also check the registry there's a registry key for received SMS (I may be wrong. There is one for message sent).
If you're still having troubles, I'll think about a 3rd party solution, but my thinking is it's quite complicated... but I need to think about it anyway

Software to record number of SMS sent?

Hi guys n gals,
Anyone know if there exists any software that will allow me to c how many SMS i have sent each month?
Cheers in advance,
Immortal
pocketMax PhoneAlarm can do just that. It was meant to control your phone profiles. But comes with a powerful billing tool too. Can calculate your monthly bill and customise the billing including SMS send/receive cost, free minutes, monthly charges, credit limits, peak cost, offpeak cost, etc etc.
thnx for the suggestion, i tried it but didnt like it much, too complex for my liking, i only want a simple solution!
Thnx for the heads up anyway!
DKToday counts your minutes and sms. The other features can be disabled from the options. You can configure it by going to start-settings-system-today-items, click the today plug-in and then tap options. Very small and easy solution. I have attached the current version, but I don't remember if this version has the exe file in it or only the .dll. If the latter is the case, then search this forum for the thread "is there a call minute timer available for" in the Himalaya forum and get an older version from there, than replace the dll with the one in the file I attached.
Cheers Koksie, thats what im looking for.
One question, any idea on how to dismiss a missed call without dialing it again?
Hi ImmortalU, I don't think this is possible. At 0.00 it automatically starts a new day and then your missed call disappears... You can however try to disable the line that shows missed calls. If you go to the options menu op the today plug-in you can choose which lines to show. Possibly disabling one of the lines will remove the missed calls line.
how come it doesnt work on my mini? the sms counter stays at 000
You have to enable sms notification first. DKToday does not count the sms you have sent from POutlook, but counts the incoming sms delivery notifications. Dkot ( the writer) could not find another way to measure sms sending. No problem for me, I like to have a delivery notification anyway.
To do this you have to edit the registry but an easier way is to install the cab I attached and copy the cpl file found in the attached zip file to your /windows folder. With the second file you get a control panel applet in your start-settings-system that enables you to switch sms delivery notification on or off. The first file creates the registry settings that the cpl will work with. You can also manually enable sms delivery notification for each message you send in your messaging account. After creating a new text message, go to menu-options-and tick the box. However, this needs to be done again for each message you send. The two files attached will automatically handle notifications for each message.
great. thanks. my only problem now is if the delivery notification is charged to me by my operator.
Too bad for you! Luckily in Holland these delivery notifications are free. You could contact Dkot for help. good luck!
thanks for the quick replies koksie
you're welcome, I am sorry that you are charged for these notifications. Phone Alarm from PocketMax (I think) or Phone Dashboard can also count minutes and sms, but not freeware and these are large apps with much more functionality than I need. perhaps they fit your needs, you can always try them of course.
thanks for the info. ill try them out.
hi everyone, fyi if you want to clear a missed call you need to erase the entry in the call history, DK uses this list for the call entrys.
help me in getting some way of counting send SMS on smartfone
For a application i need to have access to check the total number of SMS send from the phone so that on next power on i Can check the SMS send and take start some application..

time lag

I have a problem with the incoming SMSs ,when I receive a sms the time on it is lagging behind my DELL STREAK set time, when I select either internet time or service provider time. Eg time set through internet is 7.00 PM but when I receive a reply for my msgs/sms it is 6.50 PM ,thus it is lagging behind, and the sequence of the msg thread becomes upside down.If I correct this lag by manually setting the time,my mobile clock becomes 9-10 mins behind actual time.how do i correct this?the sim works fine in other handsets.
Sounds like its the sms app itself, try looking through in app preferences for time stamp issues if that doesnt work try "go sms" free from the market, it has various fixes, troubleshooting options which may isolate the problem
Ya mine does the same thing on the Rogers network. It's pretty frustrating - I tried some different apps, the is an sms time fix on the market that worked, but then it broke my notifications, so the sms would come in showing the right time, but I wouldn't be notified of new messages, so that didn't work for me.
As mentioned above, the best remedy for me was to use another sms app, like go sms or I actually prefer Handcent SMS, all free from the market, Handcent SMS fixed the time issue and also has some other cool features that I like including an unread reminder etc.
I'm not sure why no one knows what causes this or how to fix it in the native app, but either way, the other sms apps are better anyway so you win in the end
-Steve
What settings do you use on Handcent? I'm on Rogers too and my SMS come in with a -4 hour timestamp. Not all though, but some. So it's pretty weird.
isnt the time stamp on a text, the time it was sent not the time it was recieved. So maybe you phone is just taking ages to recieve texts?
No, it doesn't take 4 hours to recieve a text. Something is screwing up the incoming text's timestamp. When I get a text without first texting someone, it displays the correct incoming timestamp, but if I close Handcent and then open again, it will show that message as -4 hours. The minutes remain correct though. But if I text someone and they reply, the timestamp remains correct. Been trying different settings in the Recieved Messages menu. Provider's delievery report checked, unchecked. Handcent delievery report checked, unchecked. Combinations of the two. Offset recieved messages by -4 hours. Can't seem to fix that little quirk.
