installation time 15 / 30 min
installer ROOT together with the ota update file

Is it just download, install adb and click on "install OTA.bat"? I've never done it before, but it sounds easy enough, haha

I unlocked the bootloader following this guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2/how-to/guide-how-to-unlock-bootloader-xiaomi-t3831484
and ran the "install_OTA" script. Unfortunately I get a boot loop. Any suggestions?
(I was on the latest 8.1 November update)
EDIT: Nevermind. I had flashing for critical partitions disabled. If anyone has a similar problem, follow this guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-2-xl/help/failed-remote-flashing-allowed-critical-t3715283
I installed this OTA on my MI A2 from V9.6.17.0.
It works well, but I faced one trouble.
QXDM does not work. PC ( running QXDM ) does not detect usb port of MI A2.
I case of OREO ( v9.6.17.0 ), QXDM works.
Please, any suggestions.

Before yesterday i had that problem too...
And i fix it with Mini Flasher...(a software for Redmi 3s)

Unlock your bootloader and connect your phone in fastoot mode...select the firmware and flash him.

Have anyone tried the face unlock for Mate 8 yet? i just found the thread https://www.xda-developers.com/face-unlock/#4. And it's worked for Honor 8 Pro and Huawei P10..just curious that this might be working for our Mate 8..currently i'm on rooted oreo without TWRP. so can't test it..
This is zip link https://mega.nz/#!FfxihZqD!vjF2rz0elfiay_ZYeQWwLfVG9lNI7FYAyi2vaohaiEs to flash with TWRP.
Instructions:
1. Please backup your data before proceed to next step
2. If you come from stock FW, need to unlock bootloader first (EMUI8)
3. Flash TWRP using fastboot. Link - http://www.mediafire.com/file/wlph2241d26r8k3/TWRP-Oreo.img/file. This is chinese version, you need to change the language after boot up to TWRP.
4. Need to wipe your data in order to decrypt the data. This is compulsory
5. Flash the zip in the link i've given above.
6. Walla!! now you will have face unlock in your Mate 8.

Just flash the zip you posted through twrp. Works fine.
Already tested a few weeks ago.
This is faster than going for Magisk stuff....
In fact, you can have face unlock with lift to wake up feature. So typically, you can unlock the screen with your face from when the screen is off. But it is incorporated in a couple of HRT-Lin B834 ROMs only. Zips are available but the same problem. Chinese sites. Here is the link, if you can get the download links..

No issues. Only, on B835 Kangvip, face unlock bug is there for which you need to install apk for face unlock. Rest all good.

If you still not upgraded your Mi A2 to Android Pie 9 follow these steps to get it without factory reset:
You need root access (magisk) for this guide
1- Download and install my Android Market Enabler app
2- Connect to a Netherlands VPN with good speed
(You can use a free VPN like Psiphon but for better speed and stability get a paid VPN)
3- Open Android Market Enabler and set "[NL] T-Mobile" as your provider
4- Check update, the Pie OTA update should appear to you!!
5- Restore images with magisk, install update, install magisk to inactive slot then reboot
6- Enjoy!!
It worked for me smoothly, thanks a lot mate

Yes, it should works if your device is rooted with magisk!!
Why would you root ? Just reset, install vpn, update and you are done.
Ehm, unlocking the bootloader will wipe data and is required for rooting. So yeah, following this workaround will still factory reset your phone.

Well yeah...but the guide claims "...without factory reset", and the first step is fo factory reset.
Edit: to clarify, guide only works provided you're already rooted, otherwise a factory reset/data wipe is still necessary.

OTA fails because you are rooted...
1. Go to magisk manager
2. Uninstall magisk > restore images (Don't Reboot!)
3. Install OTA
4. Go to magisk, Install > install to inactive slot
5. Reboot
I did that method since 1.1.2 and I'm on 1.1.6 EEA right now.
Restore images does not work for me. I don't know why.
So, this method is not working for me.

Get the stock unpatched boot.img then and flash it with "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
I've flashed now the unpatched boot.img. Update fails. Next step please?

I don't know why it's not working for you. Maybe you're doing something wrong.
I've now again flashed full "Nothing113EEA" by "*#*#682#*#*".
The updates are now working. Now I'm at "NOTHING116EEA".
I hope it is possible to update in future the incremental updates.
Nothing will not release more "Full.zip" either Global nor EEA.

I'm having the same problem, how did you flashed the full "Nothing113EEA" again?
When I try it said that it cant flash because it is an old vesion
I was at 1.1.3. Now, you can flash the Full.zp of 1.1.6. It is released.
