If you still not upgraded your Mi A2 to Android Pie 9 follow these steps to get it without factory reset:
You need root access (magisk) for this guide
1- Download and install my Android Market Enabler app
2- Connect to a Netherlands VPN with good speed
(You can use a free VPN like Psiphon but for better speed and stability get a paid VPN)
3- Open Android Market Enabler and set "[NL] T-Mobile" as your provider
4- Check update, the Pie OTA update should appear to you!!
5- Restore images with magisk, install update, install magisk to inactive slot then reboot
6- Enjoy!!
It worked for me smoothly, thanks a lot mate

Yes, it should works if your device is rooted with magisk!!
Why would you root ? Just reset, install vpn, update and you are done.
Ehm, unlocking the bootloader will wipe data and is required for rooting. So yeah, following this workaround will still factory reset your phone.

A lot of people root their phone on very first days (like me) so they don't need factory reset for pie update
Also you still have root access with this method

Well yeah...but the guide claims "...without factory reset", and the first step is fo factory reset.
Edit: to clarify, guide only works provided you're already rooted, otherwise a factory reset/data wipe is still necessary.

Hi,
Did try to flash this...
Nothing to do : only a black screen on reboot.
Probably because I use the DoomLord Kernel and not DualRecovery...
Soft reboot and then FlashTool... here I come !
Regards.
Sorry for the noob question but if I do this will I get root access on my Z2 tablet without needing it to be rooted first ?

You first need to get root and recovery on .314 or .401 version firmware, for example, by this, and then follow the instructions in the OP.

That guide worked perfectly for me before, but it doesnt work for 4.4.4 build 23.01.A.3.9 so I am unable to get root access to do anything.
Guess ill have to wait 7 million years for the official 5.0 release to hit my tablet and hope it addresses the inabilty to write or install to SD

Done ! Downgraded, rooted, then flashed a Zip file for the UK pre-rooted version that another kind member compiled for me.

The ROM won't unlock your bootloader
you can not use it for your 511 (you need a ROM for 511 or 512)

Since we won't get any updates I've decided to root my device but before I do so I would like to know if the official root tutorial uploaded by OnePlus would work with Oxygen OS 3.6.0 and what are the usual problems that may come with a failed root.

Yes it will work. Oneplus' firmware is easy to root. You'll not lose any data on unlocking the bootloader either(not guaranteed. I didn't). Just go ahead with it.

Hi everyone, today I will be telling you all how to get back to stock as long as your bootloader states "PHONE Unlocked" and "FRP Unlock"
You will need to install this, this is super duper important! https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/tool-flash-official-firmware-recovery-t3769279
When installing, you will see the error: "E: Unknown command []]"
DO NOT BE AFRAID!
That is supposed to happen lol.
Installation procedure -
1. Flash this TWRP: https://drive.google.com/file/d/18uHjW73Th8iYKIs5m_QgwleMIOjsZd7S/view?usp=sharing
2. Wipe everything except SD card, then choose "Format data" to decrypt device
3. Reboot once again into TWRP (NOTE: If you are using USB OTG cable, make sure to plug it in AFTER TWRP is fully booted and ready to go, if you do it early, you get an error, which is weird lol. EDIT: Not sure if this error is still present in the new twrp, but it's never bad to play it safe.)
4. Flash HuRUpdater, make sure the file names are correct!
5. Reboot into stock recovery
6. Factory reset and wipe cache partition
7. Reboot
This method also enables themes to work again, so no need to worry about that!
Lots of thanks to @zxz0O0 to providing this awesome tool
And more thanks to the OpenKirin community for helping me out when flashing this! :good::good::good:

Yes, after flashing this via twrp, if you reboot once again to recovery, it is stock recovery, not twrp.
