EFS factory reset? - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

Hello guys! Ever since I got my new oneplus 6T, I was struggling to get volte on the phone (and still failed.)
Now, I gave up. Really I cannot find an answer for the problem (as Korean carriers including KT requires specific way to mass around twrp)
and I am worried if TWRP files that I modified, deleted or changed will affect the phone in anyway.
Would there be anyway to factory-reset TWRP files?
Before you say anything I am really sorry for asking this question. I don't really know that much about TWRP and how the whole things is supposed to work,
I just wanted to activate VoLTE not to have a horrible call quality.
If this can be fixed with just a factory reset, I already tried and few files that I added are still remaining in TWRP folder, so I guess this is not the solution.
And for those who think I am stupid for not making back-up files before doing anything, yes, I am for deleting the back up by an accident...
I don't know if anyone out there can help me with this or this is something that will cost my three old phone, but I do appreciate any efforts put into this.
Thanks.

Can you be more specific about what "files" you modified/deleted in TWRP? Is your bootloader unlocked? Are you rooted?
The more information you give the community about your issue, the more we can help.

And what exactly is the problem you are trying to fix? Did you do an EFS backup before messing with the Modem?

He can't. No TWRP for 6t (only a workaround with TWRP from 6)
Btw : VoLTE profile files are not in efs partition but in some firmware files. So flashing stock should restore factory profiles.

I thought root file system access + terminal is sufficient for efs? at least for backup it is.

I am pretty sure I left a reply and didn't get any notification, and found out there were three new replies here );
Sorry for confusing you here, I was working on qpst files to be exact, and I massed with
/data
/data_profile
/nv/data/IMS
/IMS
as well as other folders. To be sure, the phone is (surprisingly) working fine and I did get what I want at last, (volte)
but I do want to know if there is a roll back for this.
Thank you for your time!

"stock" ROM, files etc... is from OnePlus (original is a synonym, not sure)

It works, depending your provider.
But about what I said :
On OP5 VoLTE profiles were stored in non-los.bin but doesn't exist in dump files from 6T.
And I'm on 9.0.6 and VoLTE is still here, so I'm not sure flashing back to stock will help you.
Sorry

Thank you for your time to reply on this post! How nice community is this?!
I made my VoLTE working, I think main problem (that I experienced) was that the phone just wouldn't get IMS info.
As soon as I changed files for IMS and added efs profiles for the matter, it started to work! (I used files extracted from other phones)
It was quite easy although figuring it out took me really long time. Sad Oneplus just wouldn't provide embedded carrier information ):
For Stock Rom, I don't think Oneplus is offering it to the end users, are they? I think they are offering a software update file that cannot be used as a stock rom. I will figure this out soon.
Anyways thank you for your time!

Wifi issue with Nougat in JYS3A

I have successfully installed Nougat in my Jiayu S3A Jiayu S3 Adv/Basic/Pro (mt6752 - Android 7.1.1 Build 20161212 - Stable 5)
Everything seemed to work fine, but when I connected with Wifi, connection lasted for a few seconds and then interrupted. I happened several times (everytime I connected) ... so I went back to previous version...
Any solutions?
Thanx a lot

I found these thread , but it did not seem to be the same problem (I did not have a wrong MAC address). And I don't really know what exactly these modems are, and how they work. I was asking for help about this issue, not for helpless answers about what I should search. I'm not an expert in this matter.
Thank you very much. You can keep your answers for other posts and save your energy, anyhow.

You are looking the wrong way. The way is flash RC4 with sptf and than change recovery to the one recommend by MAD. Than you may flash 7 to last RC.
Read well. It's all in there. Don't read just the last line. Study the thread.
Enviado do meu SM-J500FN através de Tapatalk
you somehow right but you have to work a little bit by yourself. Some ppl reflashed with SP Flash Tools the rom RC4 and problems solved after re-installing afterwards android 7.1.1 from MAD through the correct Recovery.
But other ppl claim that they just installed another modem version from the modem's thread (it is a zip file installed with TWRP).
You are the only one who can test in your device your solution.
Be brave and best luck!

Hello, thank you for your answer.
I did a backup wipe to factory reset, and I did install the last 7.1 recommended by MAD. I don't know about all those modems, what should I choose or why. And I'm not sure it is a modem related issue. Wifi does connect, but loses connection in a few seconds... I'll think about it but I probably keep the phone as it is. I don't have the expertise to correct this issue.
Thank you again.

Thanks a lot for your answer. The point is that I'm no expert at all and don't have so much time. I went back to 4.4.4, which has not worked bad for the last months, and I don't really know what I'm going to do... Stay Idle for the moment, probably.
Cheers!
Since you can't post on ROM thread
Due to constant flash's, or errors on flashing its possible that somehow your nvram got corrupted
The best thing to do to make sure everything is done properly is re-flashing the whole SPFT lollipop build ( choose one... Either any of the Chinese stock or the ones made by M.A.D. ,latest is the RC5)
Then updated your recovery (its on Nougat ROM FA.Q.)
And flash Nougat builds

my phone is locked bootloader, No twrp and no root
stock recovery and nougat 7.1.1 version B19

Now i need a tuto of how to get cellular functional on this Rom or a tuto of how i can install the original A2017G firmware with original baseband
Thanks a lot
You risk a lot messing with a locked phone. I would look at the toolkit and see if it will do what you need.
Personally I would also unlock before it is truly bricked.

EFS/IMEI Backup for Moto Z Play

It hasn't been long since I joined the Moto Z Play development and since then I was worried about the EFS. Because it's complex here in the SnapD Chipsets. So what I did was do an adb backup of the EFS partition but that's a lil tricky thing and trust me I couldn't have just enough faith.
So if you wanna backup the easy way. Download the attachment.
1. Put it in SD Card.
2. Flash via TWRP.
3. You'll see the options yourself.
It enables you to make an EFS(IMEI) backup and you can choose to store it on SD card or in the internal storage.
Just decreasing the access time for people here.
Download it from HERE.
Cheers guys! Happy flashing. ?

How did u manage to do that ? Can u please give a detailed guide ? Which ROM did u use ? My XT1650-03 IMEI is 0 and I don't have a EFS backup to use, I would really appreciate if u could give me this help, thanks in advance.
This working only when you lost the IMEI but the IMEI SV is a real number (for example 08) and you can call someone or use internet with mobile net ... The ROM is specific which Bootloader do you have, before you flash another ROM... When you get a Upgrade with the Bootloader Version, you can try the newest Factory Rom (with OTA) which you can remember, before you flash the other (Fastboot)ROM. But before you make it, you don't use the command for flashing the Bootloader in Fastboot Mode. Notice the Data from "fastboot getvar all" always and you get back your Phone easier to Stock Factory Status.
For a detailed Guide, look in my other previous posts, thanks.

Careful: that your currently installed ROM can't read your IMEI does not necessarily mean that it is lost! Most cases of lost IMEI occur when people think their IMEI would have been lost anyway and then overwrite EFS with wrong things.
can i flash it on my moto g5 plus..?
Well, backup is no problem, but restoring ends in a lot of errors. It's nothing urgent since I wouldn't have ever noticed that of I hadn't checked IMEI but still something that just should work

VoLTE gone forever?

To address the issue, a lot of people (including me) lost their phone signals because of IMEI turning to "0" after flashing some 8.1 based ROMs.
There were few tutorials to get back the signals but now no matter what ROMs I flash, VoLTE isn't there at all.
Custom ROMs have the option but the switch does nothing, stock ROM doesn't have the option at all (see screenshot below)
I'm curious if anyone faced a similar problem and managed to get VoLTE to work.
I am also one of them. It was something in the early January build that made it happen. Because I switched back and forth on Stock and custom ROMS on December 2017 builds and everything worked fine.
I am just waiting for and OTA or Oreo update to see if anything happens.

For me, I have the same issue; but I guess my IMEI # is intact because when I dial *#06#, it returns me with 2 IMEI numbers for both my sim cards. what might be the issue in this case?
I'm curious about this issue with VoLTE. What's causing it? Is it reversible with a backup restore? Is it hardware specific or software specific? Do we have any workaround for it?
The 8.1 ROMs might have overwritten some files related to VoLTE
volte
any one knows how to fix volte?
Mod Edit: Removed rude/disrespectful quote
Don't call anyone stupid FFS. We don't have a solid proof what exactly is causing it. Atleast they didn't do it intentionally.
---------- Post added at 10:36 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:34 AM ----------
I believe Moto changed something in the latest 92/93 update that's causing permanent VoLTE loss to almost everyone flashing 8.1 ROMs.
I don't think so....i had 67.5....for me also volte is not working...
Only devs can tell the exact reason. what i think is if we knew earlier then when we try to revert to stock fro the first time when everything was working fine(VOLTE). we should've skipped that 2 lines (Erase one's) while flashing stock rom
What if i have EFS backup of Stock Rom ?
By flashing efs backup of solves Volte issue ?
Please let me know if anyone have idea about the same....

Not only is VoLTE broken but the network keeps refreshing itself.

Flashing OOS on Chinese OP6T (A6010) that comes with H2OS

I am getting a Chinese OP6T that comes with H2OS in 2 weeks time. Any easy way (guide) to flash stock OOS to this Chinese phone A6010? Thanks in advance.
just unlock the bootloader and sideload the oos.zip (full) in stock recovery then flash it from there. you could also do fastboot method. works on my oneplus device since the 3/3T days.

Have you done it for oneplus 6T yourself? I was wondering whether the A/B partitions in OP6T will have a different approach to flash...
Thank you.
according to my friend chinese oneplus 6
you only need a full flash zip of oos and just local update from updater in the phone
no need to unlock bootloader
PS. and no need to factory reset too, but i still recommend to reset it
I am from China, and use Chinese OP6T (A6010) that comes with H2OS
just like fangchunxi1999 says, put full OOS zip on 6t sdcard, local update from updater in the phone setting
after finish, do a factory reset, OOS now!

Interestingly enough I just bought a 6t in China and I have been thinking about this.
- Question for you. Will you still be in China? If not, or you are planning a vacation somewhere, OnePlus support will actually help you flash OOS on your device. This only works outside of China though (even if you have a VPN).
- For others: what is the big difference between H2OS and OOS? I considered flashing, but I have a trip outside of China in a week so I was thinking I can just wait until then and let OnePlus do the flash for me. For now though, I have installed all the apps I want including Google apps and a VPN. Is there any real reason I would want to flash to OOS instead of just leaving it as H2OS? Thanks for any answers.

Unlock the bootloader back and just use the device as is or sideload the OOS.zip or you can try the global tool and hope for the best, since unless you unlock, the device is unusable anyways, if someone can get the Chinese variants tool it would be a Chinese user, others can’t request it..you’re better off contacting OP via chat and push for an OS reflash until they oblige and make an appointment with a tech to remote flash for you.

Well here's a question. If I wanted to flash h2os onto my international unlocked op6t could I do the same method just reversed?

Well I would guess they work vice verse, worse case it doesn’t work, you can always use the msm tool to recover.

Just follow the method mentioned in post 4 and 5. I tried it and it worked. No need to unlock bootloader if you dont want.

i found a solution, thank you anyway
I have tried de system update method, but I receive the message "The version of your selected package is lower than that of the current system. to avoid booting up failure, downgrading is not allowed"
Help!
I installed the hydrogen os a few days ago, and it was a nightmare.the boot animation was neat. And the oppo play store has more recent updates than play..
after switching to OOS, will one still get OTAs?
Where can I get the h2os full zip?
