VoLTE gone forever? - Moto G5 Plus Questions & Answers

To address the issue, a lot of people (including me) lost their phone signals because of IMEI turning to "0" after flashing some 8.1 based ROMs.
There were few tutorials to get back the signals but now no matter what ROMs I flash, VoLTE isn't there at all.
Custom ROMs have the option but the switch does nothing, stock ROM doesn't have the option at all (see screenshot below)
I'm curious if anyone faced a similar problem and managed to get VoLTE to work.

I am also one of them. It was something in the early January build that made it happen. Because I switched back and forth on Stock and custom ROMS on December 2017 builds and everything worked fine.
I am just waiting for and OTA or Oreo update to see if anything happens.

For me, I have the same issue; but I guess my IMEI # is intact because when I dial *#06#, it returns me with 2 IMEI numbers for both my sim cards. what might be the issue in this case?

I'm curious about this issue with VoLTE. What's causing it? Is it reversible with a backup restore? Is it hardware specific or software specific? Do we have any workaround for it?

The 8.1 ROMs might have overwritten some files related to VoLTE

volte
any one knows how to fix volte?

Mod Edit: Removed rude/disrespectful quote
Don't call anyone stupid FFS. We don't have a solid proof what exactly is causing it. Atleast they didn't do it intentionally.

I believe Moto changed something in the latest 92/93 update that's causing permanent VoLTE loss to almost everyone flashing 8.1 ROMs.

I don't think so....i had 67.5....for me also volte is not working...

Only devs can tell the exact reason. what i think is if we knew earlier then when we try to revert to stock fro the first time when everything was working fine(VOLTE). we should've skipped that 2 lines (Erase one's) while flashing stock rom

What if i have EFS backup of Stock Rom ?
By flashing efs backup of solves Volte issue ?
Please let me know if anyone have idea about the same....

If you did the backup while your VoLTE was still working only then it could be of some help.

Well i had the efs backup when Volte was working and it did not work.

Not only is VoLTE broken but the network keeps refreshing itself.
Never thought flashing a custom ROM will make me get another phone but there's no other way.

Really sad to hear all this going on. Why isn't there any fix to it? Hope someone can resurrect VoLTE on our devices.
I'm on Oreo Pixel Experience and I'm scared to flash other roms. What should I do? Does any backup help?

As far as I've seen, No.
Restoring stock via fastboot or restoring efs backup via TWRP didn't do any good.

I managed to relock bootloader and fastboot stock. I skipped erase modem commands and 4g is working, however, Volte was not fixed by this.

I have this idea which I'm not sure will work or not:
A friend of mine has a Moto G5 plus too with everything stock and VoLTE working.
If I backup everything on his phone via TWRP and use that backup file and restore it in my phone, would it work? I'll find out tomorrow.

Moto G4 Plus (XT1644) IMEI = 0 after Stock Flash

Hello, my G4 Plus reads IMEI 0 when *#06# in ROM, but I can read the correct IMEI from fastboot getvar imei and can see my correct IMEI in /proc/config/imei. Any help to restore my IMEI is appreciated, I will be happy to provide and test any information as needed.
Also, I can connect to my carrier, but I cannot use voice, data, or SMS. Sometimes it drops to no service.
Would anybody happen to know how to enable RNDIS + DM + MODEM mode on the G4?

At least if all fails you have a so much better chance being in the US; you could resort to service centers to change board. I don't have that option.

Is your bootloader unlocked? If so I'd go to TWRP and flash the stock 93-14 N backup that's floating around somewhere on XDA.
Also, make sure to flash the radio and fastboot corresponding to your stock ROM version.
If you don't fix your phone though I'll take it

Did you make a imei backup Image the first time?
Gesendet von meinem Moto G (4) mit Tapatalk
I think the IMEI isn't erased. I had the same issue last month. There are different types of firmware(custom roms are based on them too) and they doesn't notice the IMEI If you flash the wrong one. So I would recommend to flash the right and if you do not know the right, try every (I suggest to test the Indian one first. In most cases it is the solution).

Yes, the N ROM that can be restored through TWRP.
By all means, also try flashing stock Nougat through fastboot.

That's not good idea to flash all available firmware. It can be old firmware and flashing old firmware (downgrade) can damage lots of things on your device.
First tell us which device you have and if your your phone is g4plus and not changed to normal g4. FingerPrint working correctly ?
Try "fastboot getvar all" command check if it shows your IMEI somewhere, and post result here. ( if it shows IMEI, then tell us and remove it and post.)

After flashing my oneplus 2 some issues with Car-Bluetooth and HW-keys

Hi guy's,
I didn't found really on the forums.
After flashing my oneplus 2 to JDCTeam_jdc_oneplus2-7.1.2-20170609-STABLE(STABLE7)-1 - Kernel 3.10.105-aosp I get some troubles with my car connection over Bluetooth.
Now after flashing I can't use my phone functionality.
The pairing is done well, but it is shown in settings from Bluetooth - the device couldn't use the phone functionality. I have tried many to fix them, but nothing works.
Any hints?
The second issue is that I can lock (pin) an app in the task overview, but unlock isn't possible with HW-keys. For unlocking I have to push and hold the task-overview and the back-end-keys, but instead release the locked app happens nothing. So I have to switch off my Mobil for unlocking.
Please let me know what I can do to fix this problem.

So far so good, I will consider about for another ROM, with hopes this is the only solution.

Problem with my signal after i flashed 8.1 (Oreo)

Hi!
I have rooted my phone, and i have flashed Oreo RR and everything is working, BUT...when i have 4G (LTE) my signal drops down and suddenly i dont have a signal. Even if i dont have 4G on my signal drops.
But if a am on 2G network my signal is full and no drops whatsoever.
I have tried to go back and flash 7.1 But same problem there.
So my question, is it someting wrong with my phone? Because i remember that i didnt have these kind of issue before i flashed a ROM.

You have to restore full nougat stock image.....and then if you wanna go oreo then before doing that you have to backup EFS partition....install then Only Pixel Experience pr Lineage custom roms....if needed after iflashing custom roms restore only efs partition from nougat into oreo...that should do the trick

yes bro 4G single drops Oreo rom...?
I have to say that after flashing any of the 8.1 roms it is a crap shoot whether I get any voice signal (4G) at all when I reboot. I kinda wish I never would have updated to any of these 8.1 roms. I know there was warnings when I first bought the phone about saving your EFS and other aspects of your stock rom and I did do that. But man,,I dont know if it was that the devs just didnt know or what,,,but I would have rather stayed on Nougat and not have to worry if my phone signal will come back after a reboot. And it happens with every 8.1 rom at some point and trust me those out there saying "well it never happened to me, give it time, it will LOL. Not complaining, we all signed up for this when we tinker with the phones like we do, but if I had known it would be like this then i would have stayed stock.

Signal bars seems to be an issue with most Oreo ROMs I've tried (Lineage, PixelExperience, Ressurection, AOSPExtended, MSM). I've even tried flashing my backed up Persist/EFS. However I've noticed that my phone is still reachable and can make calls even when it shows the "No Service" message. As soon as it does the signal bars get updated so not sure if this is not just a UI glitch.

i believe it's an UI issue, i mean my signal bar drops every 3 minutes and changes from 4G to 3G all the time but the internet works very fast like stock
hello, friends. Specially those who are worried about the so many problems with signal moto g5 users face. Im here asking for help. i have a moto g5 (cedric) i was working almost fine with oreo stock. i say almost because some times when i lost signal it didnt recover like any other phone woud, i had to reboot. now from almost a week ago i had lost signal and now i only have 4g. no 3G and no 2G, so no voice calls going out nor incoming ones. i ve done hard resets, flashing stock 7.0 and going back to stock 8.1 and nothing. on saw 3g for a little moment coming back to oreo. i also flashed carbon rom wich is android 9.0 to see if a custom rom helped but it didnt. i only have internet now and sms. and this is very frustrating. ive checked persist folder and everything is correct there. i have my imei right, this phone is like new but not being able to call is like not having a phone at all. also why i have to reboot to recover missing signal? is just a pain. this moto phones are really problematic when it comes to Signal management.
things to consider too: im currently on stock oreo, just rooted to be able to check if persist folder was correct and to backup efs folder. also my operator uses 900mhz band as 2g and 3g wich is an european frecuency not common in latin america. maybe that has something to do with problems im facing. the rom has cedric_latam_cust as the baseband. can anyone help me find one frome europe? im wondering if flashing one from there could help. the weird thing is that it was working before with that baseband.
so many people losing 4g, i could be glad if that was my case and had 2g and 3g only with full internet and calling capabilities.
im sorry i know it is a little bit too much information. but i really need the help

Do you think opening another thread with your first post here on XDA will give you the solution? I don't wanna be rude but there's a bunch of threads regarding that problems, from restoring EFS from a custom rom over to restore a persist file from a Moto G4.
If there would be a stable and proper solution it would have be posted here.
So you can try out the existing fixes or hope for a stock Oreo firmware to be released by Lenovo which may open up new ways to get this problem solved.

Ok thanks for ur help
Unfortunately, there is no fix or solution for imei. As for signal, that is efs, so you need to flash an Oreo ROM to get a working signal. Unfortunately even this does not always work now, but once you get working 4g etc, backup the efs partition in twrp. Do not lose this backup, you will need to use it often until/if ever, a dev finds a permanent fix.

Lost LTE after PIE

Hello guys.
I have an issue since I decided to flash a pie rom, specifically simplix blue, have no idea if has something to do with that rom.
I used to have LTE as normal and everything was good. Since I flashed a PIE rom I lost LTE. I tried going back to stock and LTE is still gone. Had tried flashing some modems, did not work either. Tried several radio combinations on *#*#4636#*#* did not work.
Any suggestions? I am on Tigo Colombia as carrier and never had this issue before across several xiaomi devices that I have had

Nope.
I had found a solution already. It is kinda long so tomorrow I Will post a guide. For some reason the band 4 that was the one that my carrier uses was blocked. So I had to unblock it
I have seen several people here with similar issues and not being able yo Solve it. Hopefully the tutorial that I Will make, help them as well.
I have the same problem, any way to fix it?

Yep, I have been quite busy, as soon as I have time, I will post a tutorial. Meanwhile, take a look at this post, read first part of post 3 and then post 7.

As soon as you finish adding the band, install network signal guru, provide root admin rights and then select on the 3 dots at the top right corner lock bands, select lte and pick up the band missing and reboot.
Also facing this, I'm waiting for tutorial.
