Its China trying to send some noodz.

Probably an application you have installed is knock knocking on heavens door

What kind of images does it download?

Just search for this particular jpg with es explorer or any root permitted file browser. Once you find it let us know

I have the same problem..
I downloaded some pictures from an email, or some PDF documents, and since those downloads, I keep getting notification that the download was complete even though it was days/weeks ago.

Getting exactly the same problem. Please let me know if you found a fix. Thank you

Same here. This is driving me nuts! Sometimes it pops up like every hour, even for files I already deleted days ago...

Hello, this does not work for me. When going to files»notification, it goes into a kind of loop files»notification»files»notification...
FYI, I «deleted» the file app(at least from the launcher) cause I'm using es explorer.
Is this the case for someone else? Can this be the rootcause of the issue?

Same problem here. It has to be the downloads app. You can add the settings widget to access the notification log and watch these phantom notification come in. I'm also certain that these are repeats of our downloads because I recognize the file names from mine. I have no idea why it is happening.

I had the same issue for files I downloaded from drive. Once I cleared data in Google drive the notifications went away.

after clearing data and cache, are there still files in your download folder ? If yes, notifications disappeared for me when i emptied the "download' folder.

Question. Where do you keep the files that were in your download folder? Did you create another folder on the internal storage and move the files there? I need some of the files that are in my download folder.
Thanks

U can paste them in any directory u want, i have the impression that the "download" folder must remain empty ..i put the downloaded files in "bluetooth "folder .

I've been getting this too. I was only noticing the notifications on the ambient display, and sometimes a small vibration while using the phone. I had to download an app to record the notifications. I've had 39 in the last 7 hours from Download Manager. At the moment, it's all stuff I've downloaded from Tumblr.

Same here on my 6T and my girlfriend's 5T. I've been trying to investigate, but no dice.

Same here, its just jpeg I downloaded and is stored in Download folder. After I removed the picture I dont have the notifications anymore. Weird

unzip has 350MB of background data (?!)

Hi guys,
This morning I just found out that unzip is taking 354MB of data just for itself. I never use this app, I just have it installed in case other apps use it as a library (ES file explorer, TB and similar?). Anyone knows what might have caused this crazy usage?

...could you ellaborate? Not sure if this means the cache of the device is too large, it's intending to keep some sort of cache for another app (which one?), or something else I don't get.
The unzip app has 0B of cache and 0B of data on storage.

To make sure, install ES File Explorer, open Menu --> Tools --> select 'Show hidden files', press Back to exit the Menu and go to these folder again to check if there is '.nomedia' file.
Check .nomedia file using root browser app(not the stock one) & delete it..
Hope it helps!!

no guys, I just created a folder and copied two pictures in this folder, but the folder is not seen, so I'm sure I do not have any file .nomedia.
Have u turned off media scanner??
This service checks for media files after reboot..

I had this some times as well. I would then go into All Apps and force stop the gallery, and then clear data & cache. Then I would do the same thing for the Media Storage. After this, I reboot the phone and the Media Scanner rebuilds the Media library and keeps it updated.
Hope this helps.

[Q] Clearing excess of junk files for updates

I'm in need of updating certain apps to my phone but can't because of insufficient storage. How can I and what can I delete to create this much needed space without deleting my important things?
Try Clean Master.
You should post your questions in Q&A section btw.

Clear Cache files, Temporary files .
go to
/sdcard/DCIM
On DCIM turn on hidden items.
Now delete .tumbnails its more than 1GB file & its no uses.
Do you mean go to settings and the storage and click on cache and empty?

No, download ES FILE MANAGER from playstore and turn on hidden items the delete .tumbnails lacated at DCIM folder .
SCREEN SHOTS
But that's the thing. I can't download anything else because of insufficient storage. That's what I'm trying to clear up so I can download my updates at least.
OK. I downloaded it. Thought I wasn't going to be able to though. But, those thumbnails are pics that I want. Will I erase those too? What exactly is a thumbnail or what am I really erasing?

Thanks for y'all's help thus far and I was able to download some updates for my apps. Is there anything else I can do to create more space right now without buying anything?

Clean cache with CCleaner or Clean Master, it will free up a few hundred MBs, you can do it regularly (twice a week or something)

So, instead of downloading another app to clean, can es cleaner can do it since I already have it?

How to delete OTA update file

Hey,
Immediately after I've downgraded from Lollipop to Kitkat, the phone started downloading the Lollipop update (before I was able to disable the auto-update option).
I want to delete that file, but I can't find it. According to many how-tos I've found it's supposed to be in the /cache folder, but it isn't. I've tried searching for "fota" and "n9005" (because most firmware names have that string in it), but didn't find it.
My phone is rooted.
I've also looked at the Software Updater app in Settings/applications/all to try to clear the cache, but it says it only has 12kb cache.
Does anyone have an idea where I could find the file?
Look for it in /data/fota

Perfect, there it was! Thank you so much.
Any idea how to get rid of the update message? It keeps asking to install the update although I've removed the file.
I've read to accept the installation. Then it will reboot, and nothing will happen. But I don't dare doing that. Are there other ways? Or is this method safe?
Thanks!
Freeze the system updater package using Titanium backup.

Any other options which don't require the need to install extra apps?
Simply rename the package (something like SamsungUpdates.apk.BAK) then reboot.

No, and in case you face problems, rename it back to .apk
Or, you can go to Settings/Application Manager and disable the Notifications of Google Play Services.

I'll have a look into it a bit further, and I'll let you know if I do it and what its result is.
I've finally gotten the guts to press the "install" button, and it immediately said that OTA updates aren't supported on modified devices. Gone notification, even after reboot. Yay

How to Get Downloads App to show.

There's a downloads app (system app) yet it doesn't seem to show up as an icon, with the Google Nexus and Huawei Mate 20 Pro, I could access this app and see files that have been downloaded.
In the download folder it's empty. Yet if I go to attach a file in gmail there are files in the download folder.
Both Google Photos and Gallery don't show the images stored in this folder either. There's also no files in Google chrome downloads.
So how do you clean out what's in there if you can't access it.

You are correct. Weird as that's been part of android for some time. Lucky solid Explorer for me. Though weird nonetheless. Maybe we can create a shortcut for it through Nova
I did and once created when I tap on it I get permission denied. Methinks Samsung wants us to use their file manager
Yes it's weird, You're rigt solid explorer seems to work. I'll just use this as my default file manager, solid can connect to my computer too which is a bonus.
