Hello all.
I was an early adopted of the Ouya and have adored the thing, but now I've noticed the Mojo can be found for as little as $160, which is affordable enough to make me kinda consider buying a Mojo as well as Ouya for the extra power and the fact that Mojo actually has two USB ports (one of them is 3.0!!!) and that's important to me.
So before I consider buying a Mojo, I'd like to ask folks here some specific questions.
1. Watching Lon Seidman's overview video, one of his complaints was that the stock Android navbar on the botton is always present, even if you launch games or XBMC. Has the navbar issue been fixed without having to root yet? I mean, his video went up in July. Has there been any official firmware fix for this? if I have to root I will, but I just wanna know if this has been corrected. If I do have to to root the Mojo to hide the damn navbar, what do I need to do?
2. As I mentioned, I'm an Ouya owner and a fan of that microconsole. I've heard that Mojo can now access "Ouya Everywhere". So specifically regarding that, are all Ouya games on the Ouya Discover Store available on the Mojo?
Is there any difference in how Ouya games play on the Mojo? The Mojo is Tegra 4 and has double the RAM, but does the extra horsepower serve any use when running the Ouya anywhere mode? Basically I want to know, does the Mojo run Ouya games better than an actual Ouya?
3. Is the Mojo fully compatible with other controllers such as a PlayStation 3 controller like the Ouya is? What about the Ouya controller? Can that be paired with the Mojo?
4. How easy is it to sideload apps? On Ouya, all you need to do is transfer the apk, open a file broswer, install the app and boom, that's it. I'm hoping the Mojo is just as easy?
5. I'll want to use an external USB harddrive like I do with my Ouya. The Ouya requires the drive be formatted in FAT32, which is a rather old format now that doens't support some mkvs I have which can be as large as 20GB. Does the Mojo support newer formats?
6. Apparently, unlike the Ouya, the Mojo has no fan. Is overheating ever a concern?
7. Is there anything else I should know? Thanks!

* There has not been an update other than my unofficial port of Android 5.0 which has settings to per app disable navbar.
2. As I mentioned, I'm an Ouya owner and a fan of that microconsole. I've heard that Mojo can now access "Ouya Everywhere". So specifically regarding that, are all Ouya games on the Ouya Discover Store available on the Mojo?
* I am not entirely sure but most likely yes because the full ouya store is available only on stock. I will later import it into my custom rom.
Is there any difference in how Ouya games play on the Mojo? The Mojo is Tegra 4 and has double the RAM, but does the extra horsepower serve any use when running the Ouya anywhere mode? Basically I want to know, does the Mojo run Ouya games better than an actual Ouya?
* I can't comment on this as I have never used the ouya store , but most likely the answer would be yes. If most of the ouya games were optimized to run without problems on the ouya you definitely won't have issues on the M.O.J.O.
3. Is the Mojo fully compatible with other controllers such as a PlayStation 3 controller like the Ouya is? What about the Ouya controller? Can that be paired with the Mojo?
* I have yet to test this but I will go ahead and say yes as most android devices are compatible with PS3 controllers.
4. How easy is it to sideload apps? On Ouya, all you need to do is transfer the apk, open a file broswer, install the app and boom, that's it. I'm hoping the Mojo is just as easy?
* You can install apk from unknown sources from wireless adb, internal storage, external sdcard , or usb storage.
5. I'll want to use an external USB harddrive like I do with my Ouya. The Ouya requires the drive be formatted in FAT32, which is a rather old format now that doens't support some mkvs I have which can be as large as 20GB. Does the Mojo support newer formats?
* I have yet to test this again , but I would say the issue would be the same at least on stock firmware.
6. Apparently, unlike the Ouya, the Mojo has no fan. Is overheating ever a concern?
* Overheating is not a concern the vents on the device keep it pretty cool even when playing demanding games it only gets warm.
7. Is there anything else I should know? Thanks!
* If you have anymore questions you can contact me.
2. For example The Ball and Broken Age arent't available on Ouya Everywhere or just not compatible with the Mojo. You could try sideloading missing games from your original Ouya.
7. Unfortunately the USB 3.0 port is blocked by the Bluetooth Smart (less power consumption, less latency) dongle and doesn't work on the USB 2.0 port. So if you like to use the USB 3.0 port for other peripherals you have to connect the controller via classic Bluetooth.
To do so connect some other input device via Bluetooth or USB and navigate to Settings > Bluetooth. Set the controller to classic Bluetooth pairing mode by pressing and holding the Start button for 5 seconds until the LED starts blinking. Now let the Mojo search for Bluetooth devices and select the controller after it has been detected.
For further information about the controller see madcatz.com/products/hdk/docs/2013_12_05_CTRLR_MOJO_Info_v1_6.pdf

I also purchased the Mojo to play my Ouya games. I find the Ouya underpowered these days though unlike many I enjoy Ouya content Mojo only has about 50% of Ouyas content. Its up to the developer to add there games to Ouya anywhere ( IE,
Broken age, The Cave?). Mojo also does not allow installation of games to external storage natively as Ouya does. These days I find Ouya OS to be superior in many ways. After three tickets to Mad Catz on the installation to external storage no help whatsoever? There is a promised update to Kit Kate or Lollipop which is long overdue (sound familiar??)? I wonder if Mad Catz is killing off their Mojo project? Mojo to me has great quality hardware the software leaves allot to be desired!
Please understand that I only refer to the stock Android software without any mods. I tend to look first without mods to judge the product as it is sold. The fact that there are great developers to address the stock issues only goes to show Mad Catz how easy it would be if they would adopt one of these mods officially?
If you're thinking about getting a mojo, right now the US Mad Catz store is selling it in two promotional bundles: For $150 it comes with an extra controller, and for $200 it comes with the StrikeM mobile keyboard (which retails for $100 on its own). I'd also encourage you to read the MOJO Android Development forum to see the enhancements made by user Unjustified Dev, as they have greatly enhanced the value of the console. This forum here also documents the product's limitations out-of-the-box.

So what you're saying is the very controller the Mojo comes with requires the PC dongle plugged in to the Mojo's only USB 3.0 port to work with the Mojo and it can't be plugged into the USB 2.0 port and work? Did I read that right?
Why the hell can't the Mojo controller work with the Mojo without the need for a dongle? It is it's native controller right? That doesn't make ANY sense to me.
Since apparently the Mojo controller runs on friggin triple A batteries, what I would ideally like to do is use a USB mini cable and run a wired PS3 controller set up, just like the Ouya offers. No batteries when using a wired controller and no blutooth setup nonsense either.

Is there a master list somewhere of compatible Ouya games on Mojo?
I'm okay with not every Ouya game playable, but there are certain titles I really would want, such as Rob Broglia's .emu emulators, a few of my absolute favorite Ouya games like Maldita Castilla and Elliot Quest, and also games that don't run at 100% on Ouya like Doom GLES.
Also, since you are doing exactly what I seek to do, what is your experience? Would you recommend this approach?
I'm interested in a Mojo for being able to play my 1080p 60fps mkv bluray rips that the Ouya can't handle without all sorts of video artifacting, even using sideloaded Kodi.
I'm interested in emulation of higher end consoles like PS1, N64, PSP, systems that the Ouya either doesn't have the power to do or just that nobody has bothered to optimize for Ouya.
I'm interested in Android Gaming on the TV outside of the Ouya.

Well, I live in Canada. Can you shoot me a link to the site? The Mojo with a single controller would cost $170 through Amazon.ca, the cheapest price. So if I can import a MadCatz Mojo from the US for $150 that has two controllers, that's the deal I'm most interested in, even if it ends up costing a bit more due to shipping. But I somehow doubt Madcatz US will ship to Canada...

you read right, but he's wrong, you can use it the dongle on USB2 OR USB3, but you HAVE to use it on the mojo to use the original controller, the reason being is that it's android jellybean which doesn't have the BT4 stack, it's not a PC dongle but works all the same on PC, mac too probably.
Using the new lollypop custom rom, you don't need the dongle on the mojo because it has the BT4 stack.
You might have seen some of my youtube videos of the PS1/N64 emulators, the PSP emulator works great too :good: I should do a quick video with it..
Obviously not 100% of all games work on emulation!
IMO Ouya was/is a bigger failure then MOJO, nobody has copied ouya, razor is a cheap clone of mojo HW
IMO 2, save up your cad dollars for a shield tablet.
IMO 3, actually wait for the shield tablet 2 with the new X1!!
IMO4, Mojo HW with @Unjustified Dev roms is kicks ass (going move to lollypop today!)
IMO5, The CTRLR is 95% perfect for me, mouse mode/media keys and all works on android & PC, good build quality too, travel clip which holds my 7" tablet lol.
Batteries, no biggy for me (I have rechargeable), but dame I hate the DPad is clunky on the thing, still I bought a second one
Good luck

Hey, sorry. your not wrong, it's just your experience,
But it can be put in any USB port and it 'should' work.
That's been my experience anyway, the madcatz guys recommened it on USB3 but for me it didn't matter much.
Hey... has somebody tryied the ouya controller on mojo?
Does towerfall work in mojo?
Thanks
Towerfall isn't available through Ouya Everywhere. But when you have already purchased it on a real Ouya it might work after copying over the APK to a M.OJ.O. which uses the same Ouya account.

That's bad. If you need the whole range of Ouya games the M.OJ.O. with it's Ouya Everywhere feature is not an adequate replacement for a real Ouya.

I can't test it but I found that the M.O.J.O. has a key layout file for the Ouya controller. So it should most likely work.

What I recommend? Wait for the NVIDIA Shield Console!
Unfortunately both games, Towerfall and DuckGame aren't available through Ouya Everywhere. If you need an Android gaming console now and these two games aren't that important for you the M.O.JO. might be an option for you. Maybe you like the following multiplayer games:
Google Play Store:
Badland (4P Coop, Shared Screen)
Beach Buggy Racing (4P Versus, Split Screen)
BombSquad (4P Coop/Versus, Shared Screen)
Meltdown (4P Coop, Shared Screen)
Riptide GP2 (4P Versus, Split Screen)

Q: How do I get my Ouya Exclusive games back on the M.O.J.O.?
A: Backup the Ouya exclusive games from the Ouya and Restore or Sideload them on the M.O.J.O. Ouya Everywhere will still recognize the game and work properly.

Hi everyone! This might be a long post, but I figured I'll give as much detail as I can in the first post. I recently got an Nvidia Shield TV over the holidays and I've been loving it, incredibly powerful device that's totally exceeded my expectations. However I've been having one nagging issue, and that is in the topic of getting 4 controllers to work through Gamestream/Moonlight.
To give a quick background on what I'm working with - I have a Shield Gamepad with an official Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless USB Receiver and 3 Xbox 360 Gamepads.
With Gamestream, multi controller support doesn't seem to work at all. When disabled, the Shield Gamepad works perfectly without a hitch in single player games. However, as soon as I turn it on through the menu, the controller instantly stops working. I can still navigate the menus of Gamestream, but the actual input of my controller is no longer being sent to my PC in the other room.
Now, Moonlight seems to solve this problem, but only partially. Installed with no customizations, Moonlight will support multiple controllers, but will stop at 3, meaning that I can have my Shield Gamepad and two Xbox 360 controllers functional, but the last controller's input will not go through, even though it is connected to the receiver and able to send inputs to the Shield itself.
I am able to get all 4 controllers working simultaneously with Dolphin, Mupen64Plus AE, ePSXe... You get the picture. It works GREAT with everything, but I have these weird issues whenever I try to get this to work with the official Gamestream app and Moonlight.
I've tried even hooking up a wired Xbox 360 controller to the Shield in an attempt to fix both issues, but the same thing happens. Weirdly enough, when I go to my PC and hook up a controller, then that controller can take over the 4th controller slot! But then you have 3 people gaming in one room with the last player in a completely separate room using the PC.
Thank you so much for reading!
TL;DR - Gamestream multi controller support doesn't function at all, no controller input will go through. Moonlight only supports 3 controllers, but for some reason not 4. Using Shield Gamepad + Xbox 360 Controllers.
Anybody know the solution? I'm still running into issues with this

when you start a stream, as soon as the game starts, hold the Play/Pause button. A new menu will pop up and on the right side is a 3-dot menu. Select "multi-controller" enabled. You have to do this with each stream.
I just bought a 2nd Shield controller a couple days ago, and through my adventures trying to get multiplayer in gamestream i stumbled on this menu. Don't know why nvidia "hid" it in a menu rather than having a giant button on the screen or something.

The weird thing is that whenever I try that, controller inputs on Gamestream stop working entirely.
I guess that's partially irrelevant now though. My Gamestream app has decided to stop working entirely (claims my PC is asleep when it's not). I now use moonlight for all my Gamstreaming purposes, but am still running into issues with the 3 controller cap.
I was going to go and buy a steam link to play my PC games downstairs but saw that the Mad Catz Mojo is only £20 more and comes with a controller.
Doing a quick google search I found some mention of game streaming available on the Mojo:
Can't add links but there is an article on techradar.com & engadget.com saying gamestream will be included in the Mojos firmware updates.
However these both seem quite outdated and I can't see any information stating that it was implemented in the end.
Has anyone got game streaming to work smoothly on the Mojo? Perhaps through limelight / moonlight? I have a gtx 970 so should be good to go.
I use my Shield TV with gamestream in the bedroom with no issues however don't want to spend another £120 if I can get away with £60 for the Mojo.
This works very well with the splashtop software. I use antimicro zu remap the controller buttons. you can even emulate a mouse.
but keep in mind, you have to do everything yourself, the shield is a lot easier to use.
Hi,
moonlight works great with for example remix OS. As far as i know it also works on unrooted Mojo.
With LAN connection 1080p and 60fps works like a charme.
If game streaming is your primary intention, then I would recommend sticking with the NVIDIA Shield. If you buy the MOJO, you can definitely stream games at the same quality as the Shield, but it takes a lot of work to get the MOJO working at full capacity, whereas, the Shield is all ready to go out of the box.
I upgraded the stock firmware shipped with the MOJO to CyanogenMod 12.1. The stock firmware had issues with freezing and really wasn't running at the full potential that the MOJO had to offer. After upgrading it has been a breeze, with the exception of a few small hiccups. But again, this is a lot more work than getting a Shield for the extra dollars more, except that the MOJO can likely do more with regards to Emulation, Movies, Social Media, etc.
I use Moonlight Streaming from a GTX 650 on a Wireless AC network, and it works great with the included controller. I originally tried using Remotr and it lagged like crazy. The support that the controller has with the Gamesmart technology is incredibly impressive. It seems to 'just know' exactly how the controls should be mapped with basic common sense. With that said, if your intention is to stream games from Steam that already have full controller support, then this feature doesn't really bring anything special to the table.
