Earpiece not working - Essential Phone Questions & Answers

My Earpiece of essential phone suddenly stopped working. Can anyone please help me

Did you get any solution about it?
My earpiece just stopped too...

Earpiece stopped working also.
I have the same problem. I can only hear the caller when I use a bluetooth device or speaker phone or the headset jack.

Mine just quit today after 3 years and 3 months. I tried a factory reset but no luck.

Just got a refurb to replace one with a failed backlight power source and the refurb's earpiece doesn't work. It appears to be an "unlocked" Sprint phone, so wonder if that's part of the problem. Returning to Ebay seller for refund, if can't get it to work shortly. Anyone else coming to the conclusion that hardware quality isn't exactly "flagship" level on these phones? It's not about age either. I've got a Samsung Galaxy S3 that's more functional. Very sad. Feel like there should be a class action or some warranty relief for those of us who bought PH-1s in reliance on Rubin and Essential's representations.

Help Needed with Sound !!![Imate JAMin]

I need urgent help with this problem im having. I was using my JAMin when all of a sudden, it just went mute. I turned it off and on again but it didnt do any good. Everything else is working fine; it's just that there is no sound.
I've tried inserting and taking out the hands-free pin from the jack but still no luck. I even tried the hard reset; but still no success.
Kindly help me out!
Thankyou.
You get sound from the handsfree? if so, the speaker could be broken.
The thing is, the speaker just can't break on its own now can it? I mean it the set didn't fall or anything, so how can the speaker possibly break?
Oh and yeah, i do get sound from the handsfree; just not the speaker.
same problem with mine...turn out the speaker is broken, apparantly it is common problem with early version of 818pro (the service centre told me that)
Yep you got a bad one.
This seems to be a major problem with the HTC Prophet as a whole regardless of the branding. I have returned mine to Orange for a replacement, they confirmed that it was hardware failure. I thought that I might have just got unlucky with a bad batch, but looking across the NET and here, it appears that all brands based on the HTC Prophet are failing.
Obviously, shoddy manufacturing, I guess HTC did a little penny pinching with the speaker system.

8525 Speaker just stopped

I have an 8525 with ATT in the USA. Two days ago the speaker just stopped working. It won't ring, go to speakerphone, make any kind of sound. I'm wondering if hopefully it's just my ROM that it may not be compatible with but I've been using it successfully for 6 months now.
Does anybody know how to fix the speaker or if it can be fixed? I'm loathing having to look at my phone all the time to see if its ringing because the vibrations are also too subtle. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Unlikely to be the ROM
We'll rule out the volume setting (assume you checked that!)
You could try a hard reset to rule out any software issue.
However, I suspect it's the rear speaker connector that's popped off. It's common enough and only requires the rear casing to be removed. When re-assembling remember to align the macro toggle switch with the switch on the case. See here:

Warranty voiding of course.
Mike
PS. Rarely it can be the coil in the speaker has broken (really pretty rare)

Static Noises In Call

Hey guys, I have had my Touch HD for a little less than a month.
I am extremely happy with everything about it...
But a couple of days ago, I started experiencing a static type noise during calls only. It seems like there is an interference or something every time I place a call.
I have never dropped it since I got it so I know I didn't break anything.
I purchased a Squaretrade warranty when I bought the phone. Do you think that I should send it in? What do you think is the problem?
Is is it on incoming, out going or all calls? Have you tried using the headphones that the phone came with? Do you still hear the noise with those???
I am having the same problem. Is this a hardware or a software issue?
I am also getting some static interference noises on calls only , only had my phone under a week , would a firmware upgrade fix this or is this a hardware fault?

It is on both incoming and outgoing calls.
I tried the headphones that came with the phone and I don't hear static with them.
Also, when using the speaker phone, it does not make any static noises.
Any takers?
Yep mine has static too, it can help a bit to hold the device high up since the Aerial is at the bottom.
I had the same problem. Only heard the static when using the phone to my ear. Never when using a bluetooth headset or the speaker on the back. I tried several hard resets and phoned HTC. I've since sent the handset back. I'm waiting to hear if they are giving me a new handset or a refund as I had only had the phone for 5 days.
I done a load of searching and couldn't find anyone else with the same problem. HTC said it was a new problem to them but it looks as though there are a few of us.

Please keep us updated on what they have to say about your situation.
Hi,
Im still getting that static noises , Also getting it when im playing audio on windows media player , Ive also tried core player , still same , so it's not the windows software , I reckon could be a hardward fault.
i have a orange htc touch hd .
does any1 else get these noises when playing any audio ?
I'm thinking the problem is hardware related. Seems like something is loose, connectionwise.
Whenever I hear the static in call, and kind of jiggle the phone around or press the screen and back together it goes away for a little bit.
I am going to take advantage of my warranty I believe.
Well I dropped my phone today and it appears the static noises in call have disappeared.
Hehe well I'm not trying that one out I also have the statice noise in call but its only at one person and its always the same one :\
So maybe I should drop that person on the floor
Onboard Speaker noise / crackling
I've had my HD since Friday, and I'm having the same noise. I hear it as soon as I press send and intermittently during all calls. When it goes away, if I stay really still, I don't hear it till I move. Really irritating for an $800 phone. I called the guy at the phone store where I bought it and he told me to call HTC.
i have the same problem .. sometimes the noise disapear when i press on battery cover, anyone found a solution for that problem

take it back to the service center then. What do u expect us to do here?
Well I did go through several other websites for related problems in other phones. Some of the suggestions were flashing the rom again or taking out the battery... I did the later but that didn't help and I don't know if flashing the psuedo roms will help. That is why I asked for help... also I'm on a holiday in India so I don't know if the service centers here will repair the Atrix since it's not even released here...
any other suggestions by people who have encountered this problem?

calls broken up on the other persons end

Ever since I got my phone wet from the water hose splattering on it like rain the phone has been acting up every now and then. I don't know if it's related. but about 4 out of 10 phone calls people say I"m broke up and they can't hear me or they hear every other word. I can hear them fine. I have to reboot the phone to fix it. I also notice when using the HD recorder that the right channel doesn't have much audio to it when recording in stereo sound. the right microphone is the same one for phone calls. Does anyone else have any of these problems? Is there a solution? I haven't had the chance to call verizon about it yet. They'll just want me to reset my phone before sending a replacement and all that marigamaroo.
update: Since i rebooted the phone last time it's been good so far ad i noticed today when using the sound recorder on stereo sound, it records in both channels now. so whatever goes wrong with my phone it causes the bottom mic to crap out. Affecting phone calls and stereo recording with the bottom mic as as the "right channel" for the recording. I don't know if it's a hardware issue or a software issue. I don't know if resetting the phone would help or what. anyone have this issue or insight about it?
Yes, same issue on AT&T version. Haven't gotten the phone wet though. I have tried a hard reset and it didn't work.
I had that same problem till I turned of VoLTE (voice over LTE) Once that happened every call is crystal clear. Try it.

I figured it wouldn't work. i just reset my phone and reinstalling everything. have to see how it works now. and the bad connection with the headphone jack that the Verizon rep says should be fixed after a factory reset. they won't send a replacement till i reset the phone and try it again. he tried to get me to take it to the corporate store to verify the bad headphone jack and check the phone for damages, but the nearest corporate store is 50miles away. I'm not having that.
I have had headphone jack problems with the G3 and G4 - that all developed the more I used the jack. I haven't really used the jack much on G6, but its frustrating to hear that it may develop issues as well.
I called AT&T about the issue. They did some network reset on their end. If that doesn't work, they said to turn off "Enhanced LTE Services". I'm guessing that's the same setting as the VoLTE that Metalshadow mentioned above.
