With my old phone being an iPhone, you could plug in USB and have everything display on the OEM*car head unit screen like artist, song title, album name, and time lapsed from any music source (itunes, pandora, amazon prime music,Google play, etc).
My '12 maxima has the color lcd for the backup camera and menus, etc but when I try to connect my S7 edge via USB it just gives (check connected device) error!! I have Bluetooth for calls but not for music audio so that's not an option, although it pairs up immediately with no issue..And as previously reported here in the forums, the aux port in the SD820 s7 edge gives bad quality and extreme static at high volumes.
Do you guys know of any other options to get the S7 edge to play via USB, or will I have to stick with this boring iPhone 6s plus for my audio??
I enabled developer options to see what all USB options were available and no dice.*
Please help!!!! ??

I'm also having some difficulty with this. I have a new Kenwood DDX4016DAB head unit in my vehicle. This is a new 2016 model, and has a big 'ANDROID' button alongside the usual iPhone/iPod button.
The idea is that when the phone is connected to the unit's USB, that it should take over sound output from the phone - note - this is NOT accessing the phone as mass storage/MTP or anything like that - the head unit is supposed to take the full audio signal.
I find that when I connect the S7 edge to USB, that the sound does come across- -both Spotify, Waze, system sounds etc. - everything as it should. Playback controls on the head unit also function. The big problem is that the sound is very distorted and crackly. It doesn't sound right at all. I'm obviously hugely frustrated by this, as Bluetooth audio quality is not brilliant.
I find this problem to remain regardless as to whether I install Kenwood's (fairly useless looking) music app, or whether I just leave Android to do its native thing.
As to the OP - I appreciate that this may not be helpful to you directly (as we're both having problems), but I think my issue might help to clarify yours. Some head units (like mine) are able supposed to be able to take over the Android audio system totally. I suspect that this will only be quite new ones. A 2012 car is probably too old - I believe Android only began to support USB audio out with Android 5.0.
Older ones may simply not have the ability natively, or only be set-up for iPhone etc.
I have a chinese Android 8.1 head unit since 1 week ago.
I need to enter to the advanced setting because the Bluetooth discovery is off and then I can't connect from the head unit to any device. It is working in only one way (allowing connections) and I need the head unit searching and connecting to my EML327 OBD2 Bluetooth scanner (TorquePro, DashCommand).
At this moment I can only turn on/off the options "Auto Connect" and "Auto Answer" under BT settings.
There is nothing related to turn on/off BT or searching devices.
I need to access the advanced/factory settings to check what can I change to get full BT.

As per XDA Dev forum I have checked:
Settings > General > Boot Logo [up to 4 digits code]
1234
0000
3711
8888
7777
6666
None of these worked.
Settings > Software Version > Small gear icon on the top right [up to 8 digits code]
3711
8888
6666
7777
None of these worked.
But, 12345678 open a new windows saying in chinese language:
"Upgrading system files may cause some major application exceptions, you must worry, wait patiently for the machine to restart."
And 2 buttons in chinese saying "Boot animation" and "Agreement update".
After pressing "Boot animation" button the system is showing the loading icon for too much time (more than 5 minutes) then I backed to the main menu
Still looking for "extra settings"
After sending an email to the seller he shared the codes with me.
There is the "Extra Code" 123456 and there is the "Factory Code" 7890.
The problem is that the seller is saying that i must enter these codes under Settings > Extra Settings and I have not an "Extra Settings" option.
Strange Thing: today I could see the option "Steer Wheel Button" under Settings but just for 1 second then it disappeared...
When going to:
Settings > Car Infotainment > About Device
and clicking the small gear icon on the top right corner, there is an access code prompt.
None of the codes found here, on internet nor provided by the seller are working except "12345678".
When using "12345678" there is a chinese menu saying something like "Upgrading system files may cause some major application exceptions, you must worry, wait patiently for the machine to restart." and there is 2 buttons in chinese:
1) "Update Agreement"
2) "Boot animation"
Pressing any of them show a loading icon with the message "file not found".
I believe the code 12345678 is only for these tasks but it's not related with factory/advanced settings (3G, bluetooth, radio bands, steering wheel keys, etc)

Kruss, you are the man, really!
1812 worked for my head unit under "Settings > Car Infotainment > About Device > [gear icon]"
I tried 1812 and 1813 under "Settings > Car Infotainment > General > Boot Logo" but it's not working.
But it seems there is a problem related with the head unit and not with the access code because the behaviour is the same:
When using 5678, boot logo configuration wants to open but it can't
When I'm inside the factory settings (with your code), touching the "boot logo" button, boot logo settings wants to open but it can't again.
I will try to fix my current issues (bluetooth only accepting incoming connections but not seeing devices for connect to, steering wheel button not assigned correctly, active internet SIM card not being detected, remove the 10 seconds disclaimer before logo animation when the head unit starts) and I will open a new thread if any problem
Again, thank so much for your help Kruss
Hope this helps
I recently purchased this unit for my 2015 jeep renegade and I could not get the audio to work(but the steering wheel control did work). Well it turns out the amp won't work without the proper canbus setting. I have the CANBUS box labeled "hiworld", anyways after some back and forth with AliExpress I was able to enter the factory settings and change the CANBUS to a different jeep renegade CANBUS setting and that still didn't work. So I said let me try other jeep canbus settings....so I tried the one for the jeep Cherokee and BAM the sound started working but I have lost steering wheel controls. If that helps anyone.
Man, go back to the proper settings and connect the amp wire on the back of the radio to 12v accessories power.

Hi I have the same head unit as you guys (I bought mine off aliexpress from JMCQ). Have either of you been able to determine what type of MCU it is running? I would like to try and flash Hal9ks ROM.

Nice thanks.
it looks like the evb3561 is not in this list, or can I just pick one?

Friend, personally I would not suggest using any random one as it could brick. I can confirm the 3560 works on my 3561. Note Android 10 is not available for our model, the highest is Android 8.1 ( and I believe it is the "Go" version).
I ordered an Android headunit:
https://de.aliexpress.com/item/32997304874.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4dGP5Wca
So when i check the menu it tells Andoird 9
I cant install Netflix due to not compatible. That seems strange to me.
So i think is not a real Android 9
I also struggle to stream to the device. i can use Bluetooth for calls but the microfon is located somewhere on the back so the audio quality is horrible for my partner and adding an external mic is not possible.
Can i upgrade android version of it oder other software?
Actual Android-trunk-m0.AC8227L-V1.0
The fact that it says security patch level is 2017 clearly indicates that it isn't Android 9.
Hey all!
I have my android head unit since few months. But unfortunately it doesn’t have any equalizer. Which sucks! My Audio is really bad with no bass and flat.
Well I would love to root it, to install viper4...
I hope anyone can help me a bit?
also i added a photo of the System Information from the Head Unit
You can turn on DSP and EQ in the hidden settings. I’ll show you how.
Then there you can set up your EQ
give me file new version
Hi!
I don't really know the brand of the head unit I use, it says AJ002-OB at about section. I use Android Auto with HeadUnitReloaded. By default the head unit has a bluetooth call feature that brings up an overlay that completely blocks the screen making it unable to use while calling in progress. This also could be a reason to disable it, but since Android Auto has its own call feature, therefore I want to use that and only that. Can the default call feature somehow be disabled? Android Auto requires bluetooth audio connection to forward the call audio to the speakers, therefore disabling call feature on the phone makes android auto call feature useless as well.
Thank you!

Disabling the Bluetooth app itself does not disable BT functionality, since BT is not integral to the Android OS in these Chinese headunits, as it is with a smartphone - the app's name is a slight misnomer. I have been using HUR and AA, with the headunit external car mic and steering wheel button to place a call or use GA, like this for 4 years, without the overlay coming up. If you ever need to pair your phone or a new one, you will need to enable the app again, since that facility is only available in this app. Similarly if the unit is completely rebooted as in saved factory settings, you will need to disable the Bluetooth app again to work with HUR/AA phone/voice - it reenables automatically - but it will stay disabled for the normal sleep cycle of these headunits.
I meant disabling the bluetooth audio feature on the phone itself, not the app. How can I disable the app? Because it is not in the list of apps in settings.

Android Auto only uses Bluetooth audio for phone calls, all other audio, is over either USB or Wifi. If you disable the car's Bluetooth, which is what you originally suggested, you will have no initial connection anyway besides not being able to handle calls over the car's HU, as AA needs that to fire up first. If you disable Bluetooth audio on your phone, which is possible through clicking the cog by your paired BT connection, again you will have no phone calls on the HU. You cannot disable the phone Bluetooth via apps, since as I explained it is part of the Android OS on smartphones - you can switch BT off - again you will have no connection/no calls for AA.
You asked about the phone app overlay I explained how to get rid of that - not factory settings at all - Android settings (on the car)>apps>Bluetooth>disable (as shown in the picture you attached). It sounds like you have something set up wrongly for HUR/AA. One other reason Bluetooth phone calls may not work over the car's speaker's/mic, is if Audio sink is disabled in HUR settings too, then the only way the audio could arrive to the HU is via BT and only the phone's mic would be recognised by AA - but I have never tried that. But I am slightly confused now by what you are trying to achieve and what is happening for you, I can only vouch that Headunit Reloaded and Android Auto work perfectly as they should, in the way I described in my car.
One other thing I should add with my PX5 HU, canbus mapping of my steering wheel mic button, fires the BT/Phone app and the overlay. Not only did I have to disable the car's Bluetooth app but I also had to use MTCDTools to send the HUR intent gb.xxy.hr.mic to the button, in order to fire both Google Assistant voice and phone with AA - no need for 'Hey Google'; no overlay; click mic button, GA is already listening in AA, then say "Navigate to; Call such and such; Play x on Spotify..." etc.

So lets clear it out because as I see we misunderstand each other. I have an Android Headunit which I don't know the brand of. I use Android Auto with HeadUnit Reloaded through USB. I know, that Android Auto still needs bluetooth connection in order to make calls through car's speakers. My Headunit has its own call feature through bluetooth, that brings up an overlay that completely blocks the screen while calling is in progress no matter what is on the screen. It overlays Android Auto (so HeadUnitReloaded) and it covers the map as well that is not a good thing. Android Auto's call feature working simultaneously with the default call feature, so everything set up correctly. The only problem I want to solve is that I don't need the default overlay when I use Android Auto. The factory system is protected from developer settings and I cannot disable or uninstall any bloatware including bluetooth app.

This is the third time now I have said how to get rid of the overlay over AA - it is the Bt/phone app (in the car head unit, not on the phone) disable it - I don't know I can be clearer than that, notwithstanding you've provided very little details of your headunit. If you can't disable this app, which is not 'bloatware' btw, then you have something very wrong with your system. You need to talk to the manufacturer, since every Android device, and absolutely just about all these head units will at least allow you to disable these apps.

But I cannot disable it, as the attached image shows. The brand of my headunit (according to model that is AJ002-OB) is maybe AMPrime but that is the only thing I know about it.
I'll try to get some technical help from the store I bought the headunit. It would be nice if the call feature could be disabled simply with a check.
Anyway, thanks for your help.
As I say, there is something wrong then with your rom and headunit - in order to achieve what you want, you will need to be able to disable and re-enable this app, for any new pairing, at will. I have never seen a Chinese Android head unit that won't allow this.

You're welcome! A simple check is the same as disabling the app, which is a 15 second job and you're only disabling an MCU interface app to the Bluetooth device - it's important that the BT still functions, fortunately it does when you are able to disable the app. Anyway I hope you get some help with your store - you most likely will have to update your rom and MCU. Once you get it sorted, if you invoke this BT/Phone app on your steering wheel mic button presently, which is usually the case with the canbus boxes that came with these devices, you will most likely (though not always, some already function and those units with SWC can easily be mapped) also have to send an intent as I described earlier, for AA to function correctly for GA/calls, from this button. I used MTCDTools for that but I believe Tasker could do the same.
