Hello
I recently installed my first rom - SlimBean 4.3.1 bulid 2.2
The rom works fine but after 1 week i noticed my battery start to drain very quickly.
I check with GSam Battery Monitor and i found out that *kernel* eat most of my battery.
I want to change the kernel.
which kernel will save my battery in a better way?
My current kernel is: 3.0.80+

Dan,
Can you give a little more information? Type of phone, which version of Android you upgraded from etc?
I can't say that I've encountered any battery drain issues with Slimbean in the past..... it's only ever helped things.
The only question I'd ask is did you follow the correct instructions when flashing? (deleting / formatting all of the cashes etc don't just do a factory reset). Your probably a very clever guy who did everything correctly - but it's the only thing I can think of.
I'd try re-flashing following the instructions on the slimbean website to the letter......
Hope this helps

So, does this mean, there is no option to use a custom kernel for Slimean 4.3 build 2.2? I am on i9300 on Slimean 4.3 build 2.2...

He didn't say that. He was asking Dan did he correctly followed the installation procedures or not, because issues sometimes caused from previous rom installations leftovers (not properly wiped).
And to your question, custom kernels is just a matter of individual preference. You may install any kernel as long as they are compatible with slimroms.
Although any issues caused by other kernel shouldn't be discussed in slim threads. But if you're using stock slim kernel and having problems then you may report to the devs, but make sure that problems aren't listed on the OP's Known Issues, and also provide feedback support files such as logcats or screenshots so the devs could identify the problems right away ?
Battery drainage issues
Hello,
I have recently installed SlimBean 4.2.2 on my Xperia S.
This is my first custom ROM and my previous OS was Stock 6.2.B.1.96.
Needless to say I've rooted my phone (using DoomLord's Technique), have CWM Recovery 6.0.3.0 and Unlocked the bootloader.
I had cleared data, cache, dalvik Cache before flashing the Slim-nozomi-4.2.2.build.8-OFFICIAL.zip and Slim_Gapps.4.2.2.build.8.zip
Issues:
Heavy battery drain - I left my device overnight with all radios off (Airplane mode) and the device registered a loss of 10% in battery level [ 2 Screenshots attached ]
The GSM network radios doesn't turn on when I change the Airplane Mode toggle in Notification Bar
Unrelated - How do I use the AIO_Addons.zip and AIO_Aroma.zip?
Unrelated - Does flashing a Custom ROM mean that Google Apps won't be updated via Play Store? ( Tried once - got invalid signature error )
Steps taken to remedy this (Beginner level):
Installed WakeLockDetector app to find what's up with the ROM. Turns out Google Search had maximum wakelocks [ Attached Screengrab ], despite me Greenifying the app.
I've greenified Google Search app and couple of other network accessing apps (like feedly, pocket, FalconPro (twitter client) )
Dear XDA-ers, kindly help me remediate this issue, as I truly like the ROM..but I'm sure such issues can be solved. Otherwise It wouldn't be the stable ROM that it is.
Please let me know if any other information would be helpful.
First post here, apologies if I may have offended anyone's sensibilities.
Hello There,
I have a non rooted SM-910F version (2 month old), recently upgraded and now running on Lollipop (5.0.1)
Just a quick query, Why is that 'Android System' process is consuming more Battery Power ? I tried to check the process but found its a collection processes and I couldn't see what exactly among those consuming more power ?
I am getting an Average battery life of 8 hours ( 100 to Zero) , I was getting a decent more than 10 hour before when I was in Kitkat version 4.4.4.
Cheers,
Kiran
Hello Friends,
I have a Problem and i hope it would be Solved.
I have search all over the Internet about a Fix for the N910C Fuel Gauge Battery, but nothing I found.
From the Xda forum I have found the fix from TheLoneWolf20 but that ist for the N910T I try it but the patch said failed, can anybody help me to compile me the kernel from stock or anybody custom kernel that will fix that, the Zerolemon battery stays by 1% for one day until it power off that is not I imagine me :/
- can't start the camera at 1%
-brightness get down
I have searched the Internet for anything:
- framework-res.apk edit XML power profile
- power_supply charge_full_design but I didn't can't edit it in the folder max77843-charger
I hope of you guys thanks
Aslam O Alaikum,
I'm going to give you a complete tutorial For Rooting + Fix of Battery Drain DUE to ANDRIOD OS
* This will work on All Note 5 Variants (T-Mobile SM-N920T, Canadian SM-N920W8, US Celluar SM-N920R4, Korean SM-N920K, SM-N920S, SM-N920L,SM-N920C, SM-N920G, and SM-N920I) Mention Here.
Reason : First I tell you why this happen, When you first time root a Stock ROM and then you came back on Stock ROM or Un-brick/Unroot to Install Offical Stock ROM, it happen that Note 5 start draining battery.
Solution : There are a lot of solution available but i personally found that all are some how use some resources like when you install an "BatteryDrainFix.apk' (After Rooting) it always run in the background, and this is not a permanent Solution.
After 3,4 days of research and testing i found that the below method of Fixing is easy and very useful and also it doesn't use your extra memory resources so its a permanent solution..
I found the Tutorial here..
Follow the Instruction and have a good day.
NOTE : Use on your own Risk
I don't follow. He just seems to root it? You posted the same link twice.
I've rooted/unrooted multiple times. Full format multiple times (checkbox city in TWRP advanced wipe). Tried 4 different ROMS and 3 different kernels, 5+ Battery Historian diagnostics, multiple versions of gapps and I've made zero progress getting anything above 3.5 hours SoT.

That's still absolutely atrocious. I have the screen on extremely dark, no apps running, just browsing blogs and reddit on Sync with AMOLED mode.
If I do this on my Oneplus One (from early 2014) I can literally wake up, do it all day and have the phone not die before I go back to sleep. 4 hours screen-on-time is ****ty chinese knock-off levels of garbage battery.
I have N920i and I didn't root my phone but after MM update I have battery drain issue (Android OS) any suggestions?

I`m very new to the custom Roms and until now I`m using the official lollipop 5.0. I`ve never rooted an android phone before that`s why I don`t want to make any mistake at all. So I`ve a few questions that I need the answers to.
1. How can I root my phone?
2. Which is the best ROM for my mobile?
3. Which ROM has the best battery life for Mobile internet, WiFi, GPS, Calls, Google Maps all on at the same time and its battery doesn`t drain quickly?
In the official lollipop that I`m using with all these features on, my battery lasts only 8 hours which is very less for me. So can changing the ROM extend this and if yes, then how many hours can it last? And if it does nothing of the sort so should I install a new custom ROM?
Thank You all in advance.
Don't even go there. Stay on stock !

As above if you are unable to follow XDA rules then its pointless .
Stay on stock rom then you will not need to bother to search and read .

Thank you so very much for being so much helpful to a new member and going out of the way to help him. It means a lot to that new member. Keep up the good work bro.
PS next time make use of your time and actually help others. Your condescension helps no one.
There's a difference between spoon feeding and helping.

Like i said read the rules first .I even gave link to faqs and guides .
https://forum.xda-developers.com/search/forum/2494?query=best stable rom
I use Omega 4.4.2 rom. Omega roms are very good and already rooted, i recommend them. As far as installing, you need Odin, a custom recovery and the Omega Rom.
First copy the Omega rom (about 1,5 GB) into you Note 3 internal memory.
Then boot phone into download mode (down volume + home + power), connect to PC with a GOOD usb cable and install custom recovery with Odin, It takes 10 seconds.
Last, boot in custom recovery (up volume + home + power) and use install from zip or similar, and install Omega Rom from internal. Reboot and that's it
Good luck!

Help needed...
So you did no research in all this time ? A custom rom won't magically give you all that you want. You still need to know how to tweak a few things.
It's too much work to spoon feed someone with the basics over the internet. If we link you to the thousands of guides out there, you still need to read and understand them. And still more questions will arise. But obviously you are not willing to read them or you don't understand them so what's the point in repeating them here ?
You should stay on stock rom and get yourself a battery case.
And again for your 2. and 3. question, there is no such thing as a best rom and the battery is gonna last you as long as how you set you custom rom and how you use your phone.

Ya..its easy dude..
All u need a pc
Odin
No need to do rooting or else
Just install all adb and usb driver to ur pc
Run odin..and just flash recovery image on ur phone
After completed..boot ur phone with power+vol- button to enter recovery..
And select roms that u save in sd or usb
Done!
For details u need to search it in roms threads..al stated there..dont too paranoid..its simple..no bootloader unlocking or what so ever..its easy dude
And there is NO best rom...pls respect to our dev hardwork ya..just ur preferences
Im use phronesis v7 + phantom t version kernel
All silky smooth and i can tweak the kernel for battery saving or performance gaining..if power saving is so priority to u..just get any extended battery or power case that still available in the market surprisingly..haha
Sammobile and updato .com have some very stable stock roms .
no reading required .
