Aslam O Alaikum,
I'm going to give you a complete tutorial For Rooting + Fix of Battery Drain DUE to ANDRIOD OS
* This will work on All Note 5 Variants (T-Mobile SM-N920T, Canadian SM-N920W8, US Celluar SM-N920R4, Korean SM-N920K, SM-N920S, SM-N920L,SM-N920C, SM-N920G, and SM-N920I) Mention Here.
Reason : First I tell you why this happen, When you first time root a Stock ROM and then you came back on Stock ROM or Un-brick/Unroot to Install Offical Stock ROM, it happen that Note 5 start draining battery.
Solution : There are a lot of solution available but i personally found that all are some how use some resources like when you install an "BatteryDrainFix.apk' (After Rooting) it always run in the background, and this is not a permanent Solution.
After 3,4 days of research and testing i found that the below method of Fixing is easy and very useful and also it doesn't use your extra memory resources so its a permanent solution..
I found the Tutorial here..
Follow the Instruction and have a good day.
NOTE : Use on your own Risk
I don't follow. He just seems to root it? You posted the same link twice.
I've rooted/unrooted multiple times. Full format multiple times (checkbox city in TWRP advanced wipe). Tried 4 different ROMS and 3 different kernels, 5+ Battery Historian diagnostics, multiple versions of gapps and I've made zero progress getting anything above 3.5 hours SoT.

That's still absolutely atrocious. I have the screen on extremely dark, no apps running, just browsing blogs and reddit on Sync with AMOLED mode.
If I do this on my Oneplus One (from early 2014) I can literally wake up, do it all day and have the phone not die before I go back to sleep. 4 hours screen-on-time is ****ty chinese knock-off levels of garbage battery.
I have N920i and I didn't root my phone but after MM update I have battery drain issue (Android OS) any suggestions?

Hi !
I have a S5 since 5 years. All was ok before, when I had 130 / 150 apps on the phone, the battery use was normal.
The S5 was, until last July, with LineageOS 14.1. And in July, I updated with LineageOS 15.1
Immediately, I saw a abnormal battery use, drain.
The battery use was important, if I used or not the phone, if it was connected or in airplane mode, always the same important drain.
The battery was changed 6 months before
Since Septembrer, I have a S9+ for main phone (with all my apps).
The S5 is my spare phone (for my pro activity).
So I tested the S5:
- reset of the 15.1 rom
- install of the 14.1 + nano Gapps
- install of a official ROM
- restore of my backup (image) with 14.1
- with or without any app
- connected or in airplane mode (there is no any difference on the chart)
- with a new official battery (2 800mAh)
- with a new big battery (PowerBear 7 800mAh > 5 days with no use, in airplane mode)
- I used a Wakelock detector (with root access) : no any wake
- I updated TWRP to 3.2.3-0 (from 3.2.2-0)
It's still the same problem.
So, it's since I updated with LineageOS 15.1
When I restored my 15.1 backup with all my config and 150 apps (when it was working well), I checked "restore MODEM", but I had error message. With unchecked "Restore MODEM" the backup was working.
Now, I don't know what to do/test.
Please, do you have any idea?
thanks a lot.
+ i also faced this problem. When I used LineAge OS 14.1 on my galaxy s5 with micro gapps, the battery lasted a day easily.
Then I updated to LineAge OS 15 Pie and i have to charge 2 times a day even if i do not use it that much. The battery drain got sooo bad + i almost got no applications, only chrome, whatsapp, instagram, spotify and gapps...
please help us... also model g900f

1- Having the most recent modem for your S5 may help. I described here with screenshots how I updated my S5 using u/haggertk's Odin flashable bootloader & modem combos: S5 Odin Flashable Modem & Bootloader. haggertrk has for the G900F a G900FXXU1CQK3 bootloader and modem G900FXXU1CRH1 Odin flashable package here: https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=142043&sort_by=date&sort_dir=DESC
The higher the last 4 alphanumeric characters, the most recent it is.
Haggertk is the S5 klte + variants LineageOS maintainer & one of the LineageOS project directors.
Use DevCheck > System where you can see your current Bootloader & Radio which is the same as modem or baseband.
2- See S5 Battery Life 15.1 vs 16.0.

"...The battery was changed 6 months before" - Two shops in my village had brand new cosmetically perfect S5 batteries but with a lower weight so less capacity: fast charging & fast discharging & going bad after a few months. Do you have a fake battery with a weight of 40~40.2 grams or a 45~45.2 grams original Samsung for S5?
"...i get approx 1,5h screen-on time" - Maybe you need a new battery?

Hey thanks a lot !
So, Bootloader was : G900FXXS1CPI6
Radio : G900FXXU1CPC9
I just updated and now :
Bootloader : G900FXXU1CRH1
Radio : G900FXXU1CQK3
The last "official" battery I bought is 45,51 gr
I will let the phone on the table during few hours, then look the chart.
Thanks again ! I hope it's now working.
Same problem, the battery drain is still the same

I guess you did not follow the other link that I posted above: 2- See S5 Battery Life 15.1 vs 16.0.
If you do upgrade to LineageOS 16.0 for the S5 then post in that thread & maybe we can help you.

Edit: If you don't quote my post or use the @ mention like this in front of the exact username: @JeyC79 then I don't get a notification & chances are slim that I will revisit this thread.

@curiousrom just ordered a new battery and a brand new charging cable. When they arrive, i will clean flash lineage os 15.1 again and also download the modem/bootloader you sent and tell you the results.
edit: just checked the weight of my apparently dead battery: 45-46 grams!

Thanks. I'm also on the verge to upgrade to LOS 16 from LOS 15.1. I have the same battery drain problem since 15.1.
However, for my SM-G900FD, I don't find any newer bootloader or modem then September2017: G900FDXXS1CQD2 and G900FDXXU1CQA4.
SM-G900F has received many more updates, latest is march 2019 (G900FXXU1CRH1_G900FXXU1CQK3).
Can somebody explain me the reason why there are no updates for the SM-G900FD, but quite some for the SM-G900F? Is this because no carriers supports the SM-G900FD any more, but some are still supporting SM-G900F? I see new Android Stock ROMs for SM-G900F until 2019 at sammobile.com
If modem + bootloader firmware might be updated soon also for the SM-G900FD, I would wait with upgrading to LOS 16.

Before updating the modem or flashing LineageOS make sure to backup the EFS partition in TWRP which you can restore in case of network connectivity problems.
Also write down and/or screenshot your current working APN settings.

The SM-G900FD is the dual sim version of the SM-G900F.
So I would think I need specific firmwares for the SM-G900FD, right?

My internet access is sketchy but I can use my laptop instead of the XDA app, sitting next to my neighbor's house.
Sorry, what I posted above is incorrect & I edited the post. Working from memory I mixed up the G900FD with an other model.
"...I would think I need specific firmwares for the SM-G900FD, right?" - Yes.
The S5 SM-G900FD is the codename klteduos. LineageOS wiki page about the Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE Duos (G900FD/MD) (klteduos).
"... for my SM-G900FD, I don't find any newer bootloader or modem then September2017: G900FDXXS1CQD2 and G900FDXXU1CQA4." - That sounds about right according to https://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?q=SM-G900FD&rpp=15&order=date&dir=desc&exact=1 and https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s5/SM-G900FD/
Updato is using the word Phone for the modem/baseband in their respective download pages.
"If modem + bootloader firmware might be updated soon also for the SM-G900FD, I would wait with upgrading to LOS 16." - Nobody knows except Samsung if & when they will update their firmwares & it does not matter as you can update the modem via Odin flashable packages @ anytime while running any firmware.

Thanks for the Thanks. Feel free to hit the Thanks :good: button on the posts that you find useful. It's always appreciated & may indicate to other users that the post can be useful to them too.
"...I will update in the coming days" - Good. You could post a report in the [ROM][9.0][UNOFFICIAL] LineageOS 16.0 thread which is quite active with friendly & helpful S5 klte + variants LineageOS 16.0 users.
BTW GSam Battery Monitor works quite well on 16.0. There is a GSam user guide which is dated a little bit but informative: http://blogger.gsamlabs.com/2011/11/badass-battery-monitor-users-guide.html
Good luck!

So, after 1 week with LineageOS 16, I have still the same problem, a battery drain, always at the same speed, connected or in airplane mode, phone on my table (It's my spare phone, I don't use it).

I'm charging the phone, and I will wait for 1 night of "use" to send screenshots in the same time on the other topic.
Thank you.
I still have the same issue.
Please, do you have any idea?
Try disabling fingerprint
Using fingerprint = 8-15 % drain per night
Without fingerprint - 1-2% per night
