Hello, just wondering how hard is to activate an N6P in Sprint and also how good has been working just thinking on get one of this phones. thanks in advance.
Activation went without any issue. Service is good. Only drawback is that wifi calling is not available.
I upgraded from a M8 and had to get a new Sim chip. Once I tracked one down at a sprint store it was pretty easy.
Quick and easy activation. A quick note that the required sim for Nexus 6p is not carried in all Sprint stores, at least not my local one because it's the size of a closet compared to the one I was refered to that had the sim. Call quality and data speeds are great in my area. Hope you are able to activate yours soon!
Easy as ****. Walked in, told them what was up, they went in the back and got a sim card. Took less than 20 minutes
thanks guys, I have the Moto X pure edition, can be the same sim card or is different?
Just get a new sim to be safe. It's free.

Im a tech at sprint just goto a sprint store with a tech center . They will check the uicc matrix and give you the sim for free. They'll even activate the phone for you.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S8 on Verizon. Its paid off so I will be asking them to unlock it.
My wife has a Pixel phone and Google Fi ... can I order another Google Fi SIM and use it on my S8?
I read a reddit post saying the S8 will work, running only on T-Mobile with a Google FI SIM; not doing T-Mobile <-> Sprint switching.
... is this true?
thx for the help
It will work on just the tmo/att side. But what's the point... Just get TMobile then...
I just called Verizon, they said it will not work on T-Mobile. I'm confused.
Verizon phones are sim unlocked, so any sim card will work. It sounds like they are trying to keep you locked into their network
Lol of course they are going to tell you that! They don't want you going to a competitor
I'm curious, I'm VERY new to the android world (My iPhone XS Max is still my primary)
I started with Androids about a year ago out of both boredom and a desire to learn.
So, I picked up a Pixel 2, then an LG V30, then S8, then S9, until I found the OnePlus 6. I was instantly hooked on the OnePlus 6, only replacing it with the 6T for the fingerprint reader in the screen. (I still have the 6 and 6T, all others were sold)
Anyway - Google Fi is intriguing to me, as I end up in areas were T-Mobile simply doesn't work. I would like the carrier switching, but I don't have a desire to switch back to a more expensive Pixel 3 XL, that really ONLY offers me the advantage of the carrier switching. Overall, I found the OnePlus 6/6T running Pie to be the cleanest experience.
So, my question - Does anyone feel that someone may be able to get the OnePlus phones to do the carrier switching? Or is this actually a hardware feature? I know nothing about how Fi works, so please excuse my ignorance.
Thank you in advance for any productive responses.
Alternatively, maybe I should just sell the 6 and 6T and pickup with 3XL?

I believe that automatic carrier switching is an integral part of Google Fi

Oops wrong. Only for fully supported phones.

Yes, I understand that. But the question was "Does anyone feel that someone may be able to get the OnePlus phones to do the carrier switching? Or is this actually a hardware feature?"
In other words, if the switching software based that may be able to be patched into the 6/6T, or is it a modem hardware feature exclusive to the official Fi devices?

I was hopping this would be fully functional as Fi announced support for non Fi devices, but apparently network swapping is not going to work or work so well. See the write up for the explanation.
https://www.xda-developers.com/project-fi-samsung-oneplus-lg-moto-iphones/
looks to me like the one plus 6 is on there, so, the T might work as well.
contact google directly, and ask them, thats the best way to find out
Ugh, is no one actually reading the question?
I'm not asking if the phone will work with Fi, I'm asking if the carrier switching is does in hardware or software, and if it is software do the devs here feel that they may be able to port the carrier switching to the other supported phones?
ok, now I understand..
asking questions here makes people assume you are discussing the 6T, NOT project fi/android in general..
good luck

Everything I read is that you would only be using T-Mobile. But since the 6t is dual SIM you can have dual service. I plan on getting a one plus 6t and using fi(TMO) for phone calls and texting and Unreal mobile (ATT) for Data. I am not sure if you can use VZW or Sprint for the second SIM but T-Mobile and AT&T is better in most cases than TMO and Sprint (no US Cellular in my area)

Alternatively you can get a pixel 2 or 3 and project fi esim and an alternate SIM. Although it's only one SIM at a time. That way though you do get essentially 3 carriers to choose from for service
So I found if I could dial a code in my dialer for fi, with the Google Fi app installed and activated, and get "cannot switch carrier", all I had to do was clear data on my app and the dialer switch would work
It's on their site. When you choose the 6t it shows what's supported and what's not. See attached image
To answer your question, yes it appears to be a hardware problem. It is either that we don't have the cdma radios needed for sprint or el goog is playing favorites and only wants certain hardware to work for carrier switching between tmobile and sprint. I am not familiar with the us cellular required radios but it is likely the same el goog restriction in this case as well. My vote is that el goog is trying to get people to buy the officially supported devices for full functionality, they are becoming more and more just like all other carriers now, huh?
Either way I think I am switching back to fi now that the 6t is at least officially compatible for use on tmobile and I am almost certain that wifi calling will work where service is poor. I am on tmobile now and wifi calling works just fine, I made a 30 minute wifi call last night and worked perfectly.
So it's a software problem. Google will not release the software as part of an update included with every android release or they won't work with the manufacturer to update the partition responsible

OnePlus 6T has full support for T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, and US Cellular. For Verizon and US Cellular, it also supports every CDMA Band.
For Sprint, it has every LTE Band and is missing one CDMA Band. Sprint doesn't allow unapproved devices on their network, and activation is tied to the device MEID unlike Verizon. There's no hardware reason why Fi can't allow at least LTE on both T-Mobile and Sprint. Perhaps the issue is that Sprint restricts them in some manner from using Fi on devices not in Sprint's database. Also Band 71 (T-Mobile) oddly doesn't work on Google Fi, so maybe it would lend credence to there being weird LTE Band restrictions for Fi's carrier agreements.
Well I am going back to tmobile, fi doesn't allow wifi calling and tmobile does so for me it is a no brainer. I still think that there is more going on here than just hardware issues but that's just my opinion. I mean, why is wifi calling not allowed on fi(tmobile) but it is on tmobile?
Not sure if you already switched back or if you are open to trying another service again, but i have been using Mint Mobile for a while now and love it. My monthly payment comes out to $24/Month with 5GB of data and an additional $10/1GB or $20/3GB.
Maybe https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cheekydevs.fiswitch can help for OP users?

Awesome dude! It is definitely worth it considering you save at least $40 from any other major carrier. Only thing it doesn't have is the visual voicemail but i never use it anyway so it doesnt bother me.
Hope it is as good for you as it has been for me.

Visual voicemail is working for me with pixel experience ROM on project fi which shouldn't work on OnePlus 6T if I remember correctly.
You try that ROM yet with mint mobile?

I am considering a OnePlus 6T so I can consolidate my two phones to one. I currently have Verizon and GoogleFi.
Will I be able to receive calls and text simultaneously on both numbers?

Yes.
Only one number controls data.
I use Verizon and T-Mobile.
You need to chat/call with Verizon and have CDMA_Less added as a feature to the line since there is no CDMA on the 6T.
It works great for me.
On the international version, you can switch data back and forth at will (there is a tile to do that quickly) but if you prefer, you can even enable dual 4G networks for both sim cards!
Cheers!

my understanding is that your Google fi Sim will default to T-Mobile only if you use it in a OnePlus 6t. you will lose the network switching benefit to Sprint and US Cellular that you get on a Google fi approved phone. So, effectively you'll have T-Mobile service on one sim and Verizon on the other.
I have heard that if you use a Google pixel with Google fi and have it set up as an esim, you can use a secondary Verizon sim in the open SIM tray. That would mean you'd have the full benefits of Google fi service as well as Verizon. As noted below, only one sim at a time can control data. Long and short, you need a pixel phone to do this because the OnePlus 6t cannot fully utilize Google fi service.
Take everything I said above with a grain of salt because I do not have a pixel phone. I am however using a OnePlus 6t with T-Mobile and XFinity mobile. The problem with my setup is that Xfinity mobile only gives me calling. I cannot receive text or use mobile data with my Xfinity Sim. This may change later once Xfinity approves "bring your own Android phone" to the service.

If this works exactly as you said it would be perfect because I don't care if my Fi sim ever connects to data, in fact I would like it to never connect since I have unlimited with Verizon and Fi costs me $10 per GB.

Thanks for bringing up that point it is very likely important to someone but for me my current Fi phone is on TMobile 99% of them anyway because sprint has very little coverage in my area. US cellular is non existent for me as well.
I have a Pixel 2 Xl now for Verizon and I thought about getting a Pixel 3 when they came out. I spent about an hour on the phone with Google about this subject and unfortunately according to Google (and a few threads here on XDA) the Pixel will not allow you do have both Esim and Sim active at the same time. So if I have my work number (Verizon) active, my old personal (Fi) will not receive calls or text and vice versa. You have to manually switch the service to use each.

I guess Gixel 3 allows using eSIM and normal SIM simultaneously with Android Q update. Bear in mind there's still a single radio so while call on one SIM is ongoing any calls on other SIM can't be known.
I have fi (tmo) and unreal (att) works perfect. Only thing is messages sometimes will fail to send. Using hangouts does fix it, only problem is that Android messages is a better app in general
works great on Tmo and ATT. using Google Messages, Google Dialer and data works fine. i have rooted converted TMo OP6t with dual sim tray. Tmo VoWifi/VoLTE works, but ATT only support VoLTE on OP6t.

Question while using Google messages. Do both of your phone numbers pop up everytime you try to type a message it's super annoying for me and the only reason I stopped using it..
Used to do that, but it stop doing it and just works. Not sure what i did. I forgot. sorry. Disabled the stock messages app and default to google messages.

I have ATT and picked up a Fi sim over the weekend. Took me a while to get it activated (had to pop it in my OP3T for it to actually work, the dual sim feature didn't play well with activation). ATT is primary and Fi is secondary for everything. I have dual 4g radios enabled but that only enables VOLTE for Fi, but the actual data is used through my primary sim (ATT). SMS messages were not received if hangouts was disabled for SMS and Fi was not set as the primary Sim for SMS. Aka SMS doesn't work unless you make Fi the primary SMS sim or use hangouts for SMS, which is fine but defeats the purpose of using the dual sim features in your default SMS app (tried this with both textra and google messages).
As someone else said already - android Q will bring dual sim dual standby to the pixel line.

And you need the dual sims tray from ebay or oneplus, since Tmo OP6T is only Single Sim tray

Just say no.
If you need dual SIM functionality, just but the international version.
Buying the T-Mobile version mead a pain to get it unlocked before the 40-50 days.
If you flash the International ROM before then you will need to flash back to stock to unlock the SIM.
Buy the right version from day one.

There is no guarantee that you can get an unlock.
So if you buy with the knowledge it may take 40-50 days for an unlock you can't be angry.

Hi! I want to know if anyone from India bought(from us or uk) pixel 4, is there any network issue?
There shouldn't be any network issues, everything will work just fine. The p4 is just like any other lte phone.
The things that won't work in an unsupported country are:
Motion sense (soli)
Google call screening
esim (so use a Std physical nano Sim)
