I was disabling and removing most of the apps they come with the phone from Verizon and google.
After I resented the phone, the keyboard to input my password is not working. I cannot access the phone now. There is only one screen that tells me to input the password but no keyboard available. I cannot acces by my fingerprint either until I first input the keyboard the first time after reeet
Please help me with your great expertise. I am sure I disabled one app that is should not. The phone was working properly until I erased those apps.

I'v have loaded BlackBerry Connect 4.0 and love the additional features but my company has BES policy to lock the device every 20 minutes.
This is not a big problem but requires me to use a stylus to tap in my password (which is numeric).
Is there a SIP Keyboard available that is only numeric and has fairly big buttons? I can then set that as my default keypad and enter my password using a finger.
i think you might be referring to this, although im not sure as i seem to have lost my secret decoder ring..
Thanks, installing it now.
Edit
Doesn't seem to work. It installed ok but when I select Phone Pad from the list it just drops back to Keyboard. I can't seem to get it to work. It looks like the right application so just a matter of trying to get it to work.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I installed it and it works just fine, did you soft reset after it installed?!? i dont remember if it does it automatically or not
Yep, the soft reset is required by the installer. Phone Pad shows up in the list of SIP items but selecting it just causes the input to drop back to keyboard.
Frustrating.
Thanks to everyone for you help. In desperation I did a hard reset, got Phone Pad to work, and then started putting my apps back one at a time.
All is now working nicely, thanks.
Not sure if it is related but last thing I did was install NetUse to permit access to my home network and Phone Pad again stopped working. I saw a report from someone else that mentioned Phone Pad just stopping after a few hours but I don't know if that is related.
I can't be bothered rebuilding my PDA again so I am just going to give up.
Use this program (sipchange).
Install and then select Phonepad as the default SIP.
Next time you softreset it will always select the PhonePad as the default input method.
Simple!

Nope, already tried that. It appears that Sipchange can't help you if you can't select Phone Pad in the first place.
Today I noticed that when you try to go to forums and type in your user name and password, you can only type in one field. Its pretty annoying... So today I was just pressing buttons trying to back out of the on screen keyboard and sure enough.
On the Logitech K400r, you need to hit the blue Fn button and F7. That will drop the on-screen keyboard away thus allowing you to type in your password after your user name, click on other on-screen fields etc.
Hopefully this will help someone else, as that on-screen keyboard is an eye sore...
If it helped, hit Thanks!
I have same as what you have been encountered the annoyed on-screen keyboard.
Im using Logitech k700 (I think) with trackpad built-in.
I haven't tried use null keyboard
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wparam.nullkeyboard
Problem is that Amazon fire tv doesn't have input selection and it may be will not working with the null keyboard.
yeah I did see it, but I also heard that it can break the other keyboards... The F6 trick works great! I also just installed Tapatalk and that makes my forums come thru perfect. Im using my K400r now, typing through the Amazon FTv on-screen keyboarrd seemlessly...
Has anyone found a way to do this without one of these keyboards? That pop up keyboard makes me want to throw my fire tv through the window. If there is a way to get to the full android settings, I'm sure it could be done.
There is a settings.apk that can be sideloaded, but I don't know if you can install null keyboard without root since the unknown sources issue in tween updated users.
If you are stuck without root on the latest of firmwares, you can install apk files from unknown sources without root since Amazon nicely enabled it,but I still don't know if null keyboard will install.
I'm rooted, but I hadn't heard of the settings apk. I'll have to look that up. I know on another android device there is a built in option to hide the on screen keyboard when an external keyboard is plugged in.
Here is one of the topics.
I hope the file is still available after all this time.

I hate modern browser "intuitive" website linking which removes the much needed http for link posting to work.
One feature I miss from my note 4 is that you could long press the number keys and get phrases like email addresses and passwords you setup.
Is there anyway to use the samsung note 4 keyboard with the s8?
Go to General Management > Language and Input > On-screen keyboard > Samsung Keyboard > Predictive Text > Text Shortcuts
I've tried that, it doesn't always paste the text when it's a hidden password and other situations. Do you know of a keyboard that has hotkeys? I've tried searching Google play with no luck
Anyone found anything? I am pretty sure this feature is now extinct. I believe it died with S5/Note4. No free keyboard has this function anymore, and no paid apps promote it, so I'm not willing to pay to be disappointed. Gboard and Swiftkey and the like all do the personal dictionary and shortcuts, but when the app your using disables "suggestions" on password fields, we are all out of luck. I want my "Perma-Hot-Keys" back. I guess the technology gods want us to remember and manually type passwords. Makes me angry too, because I am password lazy.
Man I am spewing as well. It was so handy. But it not only passwords I cannot do it for this message as an example.
Just spent half the night tryimgb to figure something out for this. Found some pretty fool keyboards but nothing with that feature. This SERIOUSLY sucks!!!
My Asus Zenfone 2 LASER has a problem with the screen. A small band of screen around 0.5 cm in height towards the bottom dont work. That area does not respond to any touches. I am working on board a ship and so I do not have acess to any service centres for he next 2 months. I tried factory reset and now I need to input password for gmail account to sign into Android and the letters on keypad which are part of the password on this region dont work. So how do I put in my password. I tried to use the handwriting input keyboard for Singapore Chinese language and select english letters from the suggetion. I couldnt use handwriting input for English as this option is not available. But gmail is showing an incorrect password error everytime. I have my password correct. I checked it on computer. I believe the error is due to some input issue due to using singapore chinese language for handwriting input.
I can survive with this screen issue on the phone till i sign off after 2 months if i can get it running. but how to get the phone started up if i cannot input password due to the non responding screen.
Can somebody suggest a solution or a workaround method please
Try "One Hand operation"
You can try using "One hand Operation" from quick panel and adjust the screen according to the responding area to input the password. :silly:
The other day, I came home to discover my Nexus Player had updated itself to Android 8 (without my consent, of course). Now I find that I no longer have an on-screen keyboard. When I try to type something, it prompts me to "Use the keyboard on your mobile device." Even if I connect using the Android TV remote app from my phone, I still can't type. Directional buttons work, but typing into my phone's keyboard does nothing.
I have checked Settings > Keyboard > Manage keyboards, which shows toggle switches for Gboard (disabled) and Virtual Remote Keyboard (enabled), however they are both greyed out and I cannot change the toggles or do anything. If I go to "Current keyboard," it's completely blank.
Any clue what might be going on here? This is extremely frustrating. I never wanted to upgrade to Oreo in the first place, because I didn't want to lose app switching support. Now I feel like I'm going to have to waste my time downgrading to 7.1.2. Thanks a lot, Google!
same exact issue. doesn't seem to be too common though. I have tried everything I can think of to fix it with no luck. I hope someone with a little more knowledge than myself can help me out here. I am two seconds away from buying a new set top box. I hope the final build looks nothing like the beta I was running awhile back, or i'll have to find another system all together. wish they would spend a little more time making sure there are no bugs but hell, i'll be happy if someone here can help in the mean time.
Enable korean/any other language input in settings. Itll come back
