Hello everyone!
I'm new here and found this forum while trying to solve my Galaxy 3 problem.
It turns on "Flight mode" at random times or even turns off phone and asks for PIN code then (device does not restart or turn off, just phone). First I tried uninstaling added aplications (all from Android Market) but it didn't help, then I tried closing unneeded aplications with task manager and it didn't help, and in the end I did a hard reset and the problem continued.
So I wanted to ask if anyone knows if this is something that can be fixed "at home" or should I take my phone to the authorised dealer and service shop to check it out (it is under warranty).
Thank you for all your help!
If you have not yet rooted or flashed the phone, I would suggest taking it back to the service shop..have not seen such behaviour in mine or other devices.
Have you tried to reset the phone ?

Yes, it didn't help.
Yesterday I deleted my data connection (GRPS/3G) settings and it didn't happen until today I configured data connection again and it happened half an hour later, so it may be because of the faulty settings. They are provided by the mobile service carrier so I will first contact them and see if they are aware of the problem.
Help, this morning when I did an OTA update to the new 4.4.2 it installed fine. But after re-starting, the phone keeps on freezing and not working properly. The screen goes blank and I have to hold the power button for about 8-9 seconds for the phone to reset. Once it goes in, it freezes again. The notification panel no longer works and in fact causes the phone to totally freeze. HELP!!! I have been using Iphones for so long and never have any updates had these sorts of problems. Please tell me what I can do.

I have the same problem with my German Vodafone Galaxy Note 3 since the update to Android 4.4.2 (Build KOT49H.N9005XXUENA6).
The phone completely freezes every couple of hours and can only be restarted with power button helt for 10 seconds.
First I tried a factory reset, which didn´d help.
Next I swapped the phone via Vodafone - but the new device also freezes.
Then I started to uninstall several apps, which didn´t help anything.
Uninstalling my MicroSD-Card (Sandisk Ultra 64 GB) seemed to help a Little bit, but finally the phone started freezing again.
It´s really annoying - Samsung told me to swap the device once again, but I don´t believe, this will help.
I now uninstalled my original S-View-Cover - maybe there´s a bug even with original accessories.
Does anyone else experience similar problems?

It is possible that it's Vodafone's software causing the glitch. You could, providing your device is sim unlocked try the Polish firmware and see. You can do it without tripping knox also.

no don't use any cover
Same problem here. Also thought it would be the s-view cover, but today I found out that it wasn't the problem . Dryving me nuts.
I have the Dutch phone which is totally original. Problems started after update. Freezes followed by reboots.
Same problem without using S-View cover. It happened only after kitkat upgrade. However it will back to normal itself after leave it alone for 1-2 minutes.
Any more info about this? Did you all use OTA update? I have a Dutch n3 too but I'm not updating just yet.

Here´s what I found out so far:
-> This ist most probably a software problem, as my device was swapped already and still has the same problem.
-> The problem occurred after OTA update to Android 4.4.2 (Build KOT49H.N9005XXUENA6 [German vodafone device]).
-> System often hangs and finally freezes every couple of hours.
-> The device didn´t freeze for 24h after removing the S-View-Cover, but still is hanging sometimes.
Greetings,

I talked to Vodafone this morning and they told me, that this is an incompatibility problem between the LTE-net and the new Note-3-firmware. They suggested to disable LTE-mode on the phone. Alternatively they offered me to swap the phone again and then not to update to 4.4.2.
I disabled LTE now and will report, if it helps.

I'm using a Dutch provider which doesn't support LTE. Despite of that, my phone still freezes and reboots every few hours.
Can you tell us how you disabled LTE? Although I won't think it works, I still want to try because this issue is driving me nuts.
Just to shed some light on the "cover suspect": for me, my unofficial cover was found guilty. 100% sure. Tried everything, then took out the cover, made a hard reset, and the freezing thing was gone.
Now, have other issues, but no freezing at all.
N9005 updated to kitkat via ota. not rooted (yet).

Glad to hear it worked out for you. Unfortunately for me it didn't work. Changed cover back to the normal backcover that came with the device, but still the same issues.

As I have a german device, I can only provide the german menu names:
-> Einstellungen -> Verbindungen -> (Netzwerkverbindungen) Weitere Einstellungen -> Mobile Netzwerke -> Netzwerkmodus: WCDMA/GSM
Translation:
-> Settings -> Connections -> (Network settings) More settings -> Mobile networks -> Network mode: WCDMA/GSM

Did you try to remove the external SD card too? Some suggested that it could help. Good luck !

My device froze again yesterday, inspite of
- microSD staying removed
- S-View - Cover staying removed
- LTE staying disabled.
It's really annoying, I think I will swap the phone again through Vodafone and stay on Android 4.3.

- LTE disabled
- Sync disabled

Still the same issues. Waiting till Samsung rolls out the first fix. If it's not fixed after that, I want a replacement.
Hi,
Hoping someone can help with this problem. I scanned through a couple of pages of search results for this issue and boy are there are a lot of wifi not working problems out there!! None of them seemed to quite have the same background as mine so I decided to do a new post.
The problem - Wifi was working fine until a few days ago when it was connected to a network but then said connection was unstable and then the message went away. However I didn't have an internet connection so I decided to turn the wifi off and back on, except it didn't come back on. When I flick the slider to on it almost immediately flicks back to off.
I had the same problem a few months ago and then I pulled the battery out and that fixed it, but this time I have tried that along with a couple of other things and the problem still exists. Here's what I have tried:
> battery pull
> factory reset
> stock rom flash (I9505XXUFNC4_I9505EVRFND1_EVR)
I'm with T-Mobile UK (or EE now) and would prefer a fix that does not require me to root the phone. In some of the threads I looked through, people posted/asked for certain screenshots, so I have attached the About page and *#1234#.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Hi there, I had my phone for about 5 or 6 months where it was fine till recently.
The problem was that I am unable to turn the wifi on. in the main settings the slider is greyed out and a text is on screen saying turning on WIFI but it does not. it does not even show the list of networks. it quick settings it shows as searching but nothing is listed.
in the about phone settings it shows the mac address to be 02:00:00:00:00:00.
This occurred a few days ago but no new software was installed the most recent being a week before to the April security update.
I have tried multiple things such as turning on the airplane mode then off, switching phone on or off, safe mode, factory reset, wiping the cache, taking the sim out.
There has been instances where I am able to connect to a wifi network but it does not last long (few mins) except when taking the sim out which lasted about half a day. (tried again but did not work)
My phone is not rooted and has the stock rom.
There has been some research on this matter where people have done something with the presist(I think that is what it is call) folder but there was no result on it so I have not tried it due to wanted to keep the phone unrooted due to warranty concerns.
I would love some solutions in figuring out this problem.
Thank you for your time.

This problem is exactly what happened to me also, since two days ago. I was searching for a solution and found this thread. Can anyone here who had this problem share how they fixed the issue? is it really a hardware problem?
Thanks!
Hi, my fingerprint sensor suddenly stopped working that says hardware not available. I rebooted several times, systems works like there are no fingerprint sensor built in. Cant find any fingerprint relative info in the setting. Just got the phone for less a month, and installed the update yesterday. Is this a hardware issue or software issue? Any idea how to fix it?
So I searched online and as suggested I switched to guest mode the fingerprint starts working. Guess it's a software related issue

There are a couple of ways to proceed.
1. Factory Data Reset and install Apps one by one.
2. Don't do the FDR but remove Apps until it no longer happens.
Also check to see if any apps use accessibility features.
