I am thinking to flash twrp on my phone and I want to know that if i will be able to recieve otp updates after flashing the recovery?
No
You will get ota notification but it will not update...
But You can Flash the updated twrp flashable stock rom by avinash on xda.. when an ota comes
Or you can download firmware packages form official site of Asus, you may not find smaller update files there... But the major one's for sure

Hi guys.I have a question about update OTA ....if the phone is rooted and have custom recovery(twrp)installed can I update my phone ?
With a custom recovery the answer is no.

And with stock recovery and modified system files, still no. Either return them, or flash stock kdz.
so what is the easy way to fix this.So if I'm notified that a new update is ready to install is better for me to not do this because I have custom recovery installed....?
Block OTA until official KK is released. if you do that it will fail and or boot loop. You can freeze the update app / rename fota. Search forums.

when official kit kat will be relese I can update ota without any problem,or I have to flash through twrp?
So what is needed to install an update (whether OTA or a ROM image) if the device is rooted?

For OTA, stock recovery is needed along with all original apps from any previous OTA or from factory.
For custom ROM, custom recovery is needed. (TWRP, CWM)

Umm no. What he meant was that these incremental OTA's that still leave you with 4.2.2 are not worth the hassle of going back to stock to receive it. Now, when the time comes, and 4.4 is released, then it's theoretically a good time to go back to stock to receive said update. Or just flash it via TWRP if the file is readily accesible. Either way, its not worth going back to stock at all IMO.

What he/she said ^. Honestly, I would wait and to make sure it isn't locked down at release. If all is good, still able to flash recoveries and ROMs on official KK, my next step would be to do complete stock kdz. Nice, clean, new system on major update.
I am about to root my Samsung Galaxy S5 and found out about FlashFire to flash updates while keeping root. I understood I will still get notifications of OTA updates, which I have to download and then flash using FlashFire. My question is: are the monthly security updates/the Android security patch level updates delivered in this way?
Thanks in advance

Yes, all of the security updates for android require a system update, which can only be performed via OTA updates.

So even if i install the latest firmware samsung S5+ (SM-G901F) trough FFire, i still can not have the security_patches installed because i am rooted and having TWRP+Xposed?
(i can not get OTA, have to download from sammobile updates)
There is no possible way to get the security patches as a download or zip or TAR - file?

Update
For some reason FF does not install the fw trough option Firmware, (logfile Flasfire says something on the end like " no space left on device" like that) ... so I flashed the sammobile_firmware trough odin without wipe first. I re_flashed twrp and in there flashed chainfire root again and ended up with latest fw AND security patch Sept 1st.
All apps and Xposed etc working unchanged like before.

Device: ZE550KL
Old ROM: Pre-rooted 1.15.40.639 by @shakalaca
Current ROM : Stock 1.17.40.1234
Bootloader: Locked
I had first gained root by flashing the pre-rooted fastboot files. 3 weeks ago I flashed stock 1.17.40.1234 to use ZE600KL's Unlock App. The Unlock app didn't work. So I went back to then latest stock. The rooted ROM was patched to prevent OTA updates. But after flashing stock ROM I should be receiving OTA updates, right? When I check for updates from settings, only "last checked" date changes. I know there is an update to 1.17.40.1531 on ASUS website, but why I am not getting OTA updates? I even tried downgrading to 1.16 and checked for updates, still no OTA updates are coming to my device. I have now flashed 1.17.40.1234. How do I get OTA feature back? My Bootloader is locked.

Please read entire OP if you really want to help. He has mentioned that he flashed stock rom v1.17.40.1234. I am in the same situation @ZenFreak
I think it's bcz of bootloader. Does the updater checks if it's unlocked or not? Cant you guys download those updates and flash via zip?

yeah, i have already done it. But the point of the discussion is to know the cause of the issue. A bootloader locked device with official asus firmware must get ota updates. Also note that people who rooted their device before unlocking are now unable to unlock their ze550kl. I feel, this has something to do with the ota feature
Most of the manufacturers use some trickery to know which devices use a rooted rom or a unlocked bootloader and I think they block those devices. I think the ota updater transmits some data back to their servers. I'm not sure about Asus but I had a Micromax device (Indian company, Chinese handsets) that use to do that kind of thing. Root checking and sending data back to server. It may be using the imei numbers to do that. Still it's a guess . I'll have to check to be sure.

So I will have to reinstall TWRP if I want to install the OTA update.
Not rooted mine but in my experiences in many many other devices you must be on stock with no mods to system or boot to take an OTA...Again I'm not sure if ZTE has mad exception but I doubt it..So you must probably restore to the image stock. Then check for updates. Or possibly flash the update via custom ROM built off of it...

Does anyone know where I can find the latest OTA?
The reason why I'm.looking for it is because I live outside the US and the phone don't update via OTA because the phone wasn't activated with a Verizon SIM, so the only method to update is via flashable OTA through the stock recovery.
I'm currently looking for the "G930VVRU4BQK4" OTA.
Im using the G930VVRU4ZPK4
I don't want to lose any of my data that's why I'm not using the ODIN method.
Thanks.
