What do you guys think? Not many new Teams are porting newer ROMs to our beloved Nexus 4.
Honestly, If I had a bigger battery and fingerprint sensor in nexus 4, I would keep it forever. It has been my daily driver for almost 3 years. I haven't kept any other phone longer than I have kept my N4.
How long are you guys planning on keeping nexus 4? Are you guys keeping it until Android N?
I'm really pleased with my N4. I've got it for almost half an year. It's really powerful phone compared with my previous device - Galaxy Nexus.
I would keep it for another 1-2 years for sure and it doesn't matter, if there won't be much developers porting and making new ROMs for N4.
Now I'm running on Chroma and it's just great, and the developer is still active. Also we have CM13 with their nightlies and another ROMs, which are still in development.
I don't think the developing on N4 is or will be dead, just not yet.
Remember, it's Nexus device, which has the biggest development community around
Why would you say that man, we got all the development we need, there's a lot of AOSP and CM based ROMs and Kernels, I my self is on the Marshmallow build from Dirty Unicorns, which has a great great team of devs. I don't know about Android N support from devs only time will tell, and yes I hope to hold on to my N4 as long as I can.
I highly doubt we are nearing the end. It seems to have slowed for certain ROMs but there's still a plethora of builds with wonderful features. I can see myself still holding on to my Nexus 4 for at least another year, especially if it ends up getting an Android N port. I had an N4, I broke it a week into owning it, then had an HTC M7 which I thought was good, but I missed the N4, so I bought one after hard bricking my M7. No regrets, it's my favorite phone hands down, even for being going on a 3.5-4 year old phone. Still feels close to a modern flagship for daily functions. It's still going to stick around for at least another year with development if I had to guess
I sure hope not. The Nexus 4 is great. I have the n6 now, but I sometimes switch back and forth between the two. Plus the already existing development surpasses most every device on the planet, including it's other nexus brethren.
I keep thinking about replacing mine, in fact I almost bought a 5X at the weekend, but it does everything I need it to and the battery is still fine even after 2.5 years.

We have a lot of active 6.0.1 ROMs. It's a Nexus so porting should be easy, and the hardware is great (unless u wanna benchmark it with latest flagships). Using my N⁴ since Nov '12 and it still runs (cm13) butter smooth with SoT ≈ 3½h. So I'm guessing it'll go on for a few more yrs peacefully.

I'm looking for a new phone, my budget is around 340 USD and therefore Nexus 6P has really caught my eye. I'd like to ask a couple questions.
1. If a bootloader is unlocked and then relocked, is it possible to unlock it again easily?
2. I plan to have this device for a longer period of time, around 3-4 years. Is Nexus 6P a viable choice, despite the fact that it is 1.5 years old? Will it be able to hold off for that long, in terms of ROM support and general performance/usage?
3. How do custom ROM development prospects look right now for the device? Can I expect good custom ROM support from this device in the coming years?
4. Does the SD 810 cause problems on this phone? I recall SD 810 as an infamous SoC because of apparent overheating issues.
5. How satisfied are you with your phone? Would you recommend it to me? Are there anything you don't like about the phone?

1. Yes. In fastboot you'd use 'fastboot flashing unlock/lock' - This is used as opposed to older devices using "OEM" instead of "flashing". You could lock and unlock it all day long.
2. Well I've had my Nexus 5 since launch. I know it's an LG, but take care of your phones and they'll last. Get a decent case and a tempered glass screen protector.
3. Check out the development section for yourself. There's mostly Lineage OS and AOSP ROMs. Some phones see Xperia / Sense / TouchWiz ROMs, MIUI, etc. The Nexus phones are going to be primarily AOSP. Check out the development forum to see anything you like.
3.A. Yes. My Nexus 5 (2013) has a dozen Android N ROMs actively being developed currently. Nexus development is supported by developers on XDA long after Google drops official support.
4. I've never had a single issue overheating. Then again, I don't game on mobile at all. Keep in mind that not all SoCs are created equal. Two fresh 810s off the assembly line will behave differently. YMMV.
5. 9.5/10. Yes I would. The only thing I don't like is button placement. Good luck trying to take a one handed screenshot. It's not bad if the phone is in your left hand, but I'm a lefty so I usually hold it in my right hand and use the left to navigate it. I have to use both hands to take one. Other than that, I've had no complaints. I can easily see it outlasting my N5 which is pushing 4 years and still works perfect.
There are a lot of build problems with this phone. Mine has been fine so far but an alarmingly high number of people experience serious problems like the Bootloop of Death which comes without warning and turns the phone into an expensive brick. Buying a 6P is a crap shoot at this point, especially if you don't have a warranty. A lot of devs seem to have jumped ship at this point. You can check for yourself that some Roms haven't been updated in months. There's still Lineage, Cortex, Pure Nexus and Dirty Unicorns (which isn't on XDA) being updated. I wouldn't personally buy a 6P at this point and whether any of these will still be around in 3 years is anyone's guess. The phone feels like a time bomb to me even though mine is currently working more or less perfectly.

I use to get close to 4 hours screen-on time before hittin 15%, now I get just under 2 hours. I would not reasonably expect the battery to last you 3-4 years, especially if you are buying a used device. The battery can be replaced relatively cheaply. I'm more concerned with the potential for the Boot loop of death. I'm not sure that more than a day or two goes by on XDA without someone new saying that they just experienced it.

I'm sorry to say that I wish I never left my Moto X Pure with BrokenOS' MarshMallow ROM.
Pixel is great though, in many ways.
It was a much needed update from my aging Nexus 6.
Was briefly contemplating iPhone, but stuck with the Pixel.
Overall, I love the camera, the battery is a champ, and so far I feel no need or want to modify the device.
I think google did well with this one.
Let's hope LG doesn't botch the next one.

Unprecedented battery life.
Fast as Lightning (Especially w/sdcardfs)
No cracks or damage.
Best reception I have ever had.
Extremely challenging to hack. Very easy once you have the slots and Google stops playing games. Lol
Speaker sucks. But I can live with it.
Never have and never will buy anything but a Google phone.

I came from an S5 so anything would have been an upgrade for me. So this thing is screaming fast to me
I bought the phone after I had to send my Note 7 back. I liked it, but didn't keep it long. I've been through a few different phones in the meantime, but finally came back. It's faster than any phone I've used, and still feels really solid, and good in the hand
I came from a N6 as well. I miss the stereo speakers and the bigger screen size of the N6.
The positives of Pixel are the speed, battery life and the general smoothness of the phone.
The cons are pathetic speakers (What was google thinking?), huge bezels (which I find hard to digest coming from a lesser bezel N6) and the lack of development. On my N6 I had flashed almost 10 custom ROMs at different times.
There is hardly much choice for Pixel XL other than a handful ROMs. Perhaps the high price of the phone and the slot rigmarole turns off developers here.
I'm happy with the Pixel , but it was close to $900 and I just feel that I did not get my money's worth. That said, I can't deal with non-Google phones. Was thinking about a One Plus 5, but that's about it. Hopefully Google does something nicer with Pixel XL2.

Just can't justify the price for what you get. I'm a big Audio guy and the speaker is worst I've heard along with 3.5mm jack just sounds awful..
have to run an External DAC to make up for the poor quality
Video recording seems a bit meh blury/grainy no matter what I can't take a clear video unless it's in direct sunlight and then have to deal with the *Lense Flare* another pain in the ass
Rest of the phone is good
Development it's pretty much none existent seems like if you want roms/kernel's either stick with a 6P or OnePlus/Other China device
But I feel like it should of been priced at same as the 6P $440 we only got minor improvements nothing "WOW" to make up for the $300 extra..
I guess we paid for that "Made By Google" bs marketing. Also was never in stock anywhere + the hardware issues drove people away lets hope HTC isn't making again so we can have a great launch and hopefully bring people back :good:

I do miss the value days of the Nexus program. Minus Shamu of course. That was expensive. When I bought those Nexus, I felt like I was getting an incredible value for a smartphone.

I'll tell you by saying what I've chosen as my daily driver and where my SIM card is and what's in my pocket right now. I've had marlin since Nov '16 and iPhone 7 plus since Jan '17. The marlin is in my pocket right now. The iPhone 7 plus is a great device (iMessages, waterproof) but the reason I love android is the ability to modify (stock or ROM-root-kernel) and access to that SD Card. Otherwise the 2 are pretty much equal as to camera, battery, speed, smoothness, response to touches, etc. at least in my perception. So, obviously I'm very pleased with marlin since I prefer it to a very popular alternative. Had a Samsung Galaxy S7 in early 2016 but sold it after 2 months, Pixel much better device to me.

Agreed 100%. Thats why i skipped this one looking forward to the next one. For the price it must have stereo speaker, better audio, water resist, better design and quality. Oh and wireless charging. Then i will jump right in.

Six month user here. And my main complaint for the Pixel remains exactly same as it was back when I bought it. The sudden freezing problem. Just out of nowhere the screen freezes for a second or two, if I am playing a game, then its done, simply over, have to restart, and I can't express how much I hate that. Of course its most noticeable/affecting while gaming, but it happens basically everywhere too, but just less frustrating in other places.
I was advised to format the phone, not root it and blah blah but exact same happened there too, without installing any apps at all! Ridiculous problem and IMHO the most annoying issue Pixels have.
Other than this, I don't know, sometimes the low light photos come with a really weird greenish cast, completely off coloured and way too much noise (yeah with HDR+ On, that's the only one I use anyway) etc.
But other than these two, I have no complaints. Tremendous call quality, more than acceptable display (though still no Apple!), excellent GPS (though Google Maps says to calibrate compass every now and then), buttery smooth interface all around most times, at max volume the loudspeaker is excellent (though at half volume it can't be heard and equally ****e!), really low SAR value etc., I am contemplating the U11 now, just for the sound and camera, but if I don't go that route I am gonna keep this phone for at least two years, and the maximum I have ever used a mobile phone was for 15 months, the Galaxy S2 back in the days, should suffice what I think about this phone.
I also have the OnePlus 3 in office, and I know some people compare it and I can say its basically Guava vs Apples comparison.
PS: Sorry didn't comment about development, but I honestly don't care much about it at all. I bought the Pixel so that I won't be needing the optimise it, let Google optimise it for me, and they did a fairly decent job, but after using Franco kernel I can say Google could have done a much better job. So that's all I need, a custom kernel.
coming from Samsung and LG devices, this phone has been a breath of fresh air even with this new partition scheme. Phone does well, battery life holds up for two days. I just have an issue with bluetooth not consistently sending music info to my radio. Some days it works, other days it's like what music info...
It's great and definitely a worthy upgrade from my Nexus 6. The only thing I miss is the front facing speakers but I didn't use them much anyways, well that and I guess it's way more slippery than my Nexus 6 because I don't use cases at all.
Couldn't be happier. Presently have a 7 Plus and the XL that I swap my sim between. IPhone is great in many ways but I just keep coming back to the Pixel XL....something about the experience I get using it that I really enjoy.
As for the other characteristics of the device others have already commented. I purchased mine at launch and received it later October.
I currently have the Nexus 6P. Damn that is a nice phone! I'm seriously doubting anything will "crush" this phones performance. But I decided I wanted to move up to the Pixel XL. I'm a decent Android gamer, so the updated GPU was nice. Plus, the camera is supposedly just that much better. Among other things, like 4GB RAM instead of the 6P's 3GB.
I don't receive the Pixel XL until Monday, so I'm wearing a path through my foyer, pacing back and forth, waiting for it to arrive.
I've spent at LEAST 30 hours this week doing research on the Pixel, its partition layout, how to get root to work, TWRP limitations, etc. This is certainly more complicated than the 6P.
Part of the reason I decided to plop down for the Pixel, was because I didn't see a lot of development going for it, as there is for the 6P. And since people seem to like my ROMs, I figured I'd toss something out there that I made, and see what kind of life it can breathe into the Pixel.
I think I'll like it. Tried it out in-hand at BestBuy yesterday. Solid device, great screen, color accuracy is actually better than the 6P, and for the first time, I kind of like the phone WITHOUT a case! Never though I'd say that.
I've used iPhones since the 3GS up until the 6S Plus (all jailbroken). I decided to try out the Nexus 6P (first ever Android phone) and fell in love with it! Custom ROMs, kernels, tweaks, Xposed, etc. were all new to me and I loved every bit of it!
However, for some reason, I decided to sell it and pick up an iPhone 7 Plus when it released. As iOS matured, security got tighter, and jailbreaking became more difficult. I got tired of waiting for a jailbreak to release and realized how locked down the OS is (when not jailbroken) compared to Android.
I sold my 7 Plus and bought this Pixel XL. I wasn't a huge fan at first, just because of the confusion with the slots and the lack of development compared to the 6P.
Now that there is more development and that I understand the slots better, I'm really enjoying this phone!
Overall, if I had the choice, I would still probably pick the 6P over this; that thing was just a beauty in basically every aspect, and it was the phone that first introduced me into the Android world.
Not a huge fan of the single downfiring speaker or the bottom chin, but otherwise it's a great phone, especially the camera!
I'm going to see what the OnePlus 5 has to offer, and may switch to that - but I'll definitely keep this XL around until the 2nd gen Pixels release. I'll be purchasing the second gen Pixels only if Google allows them to be development friendly like how the Nexus line was. If not, I may make a permanent switch over to the OnePlus line.

Well I had the LG G6, S8+, and I sent the G6 back and sold the S8+. The pixel was snappier than both, better camera than both which is a great feature having and outstanding camera, and more reliable than both. I like stock Android, clean, fast, stable. I like being able to unlock and do what I want with my phone when I want and still have the same snappiness, camera quality, and reliability on custom ROMs. Most times you sacrifice things to go custom. Not with Google devices, Nexus, Pixel, etc. I still have it since released and can't see getting rid of it any time soon. Ya, maybe people thinking of OnePlus 5, but I also had the 3 and 3T and one thing I hated about that is when using anything custom, the camera was horrible, BT for me had issues, and other little nags. All in all, this is definitely my go to device and I've had many.

After having the Pixel XL since I returned the Note 7 (Best phone I've ever owned IMO), There are issues with it that really bug me.
- For one, Youtube stutters and desyncs the audio from the video almost every video I watch, and I watch a lot of YT.
- Second, the bluetooth does not sync right in my Audi, and every 15 minutes it sounds like a modem for like 20 seconds and reconnects. It also doesn't know what to do on voice calls and frequently bounce back and forth between car speakers, and phone speaker mode, so I just turn it off for voice or Hangouts/Meet calls in the car.
- Third, the battery life has been dwindling over time, so I charge twice a day now. Yes, I'm a power user and need at least 6-8 hours of screen on time per day. That being said the phone charging speed is ridiculously fast. I can charge at least 50% in 30 minutes.
- The speakers are crap, and the audio jack doesn't give me enough volume. The setting between say 60-65% volume is way too loud, so the volume curve is not good.
-As a pro, the Camera is excellent, even in low light if you know what you're doing. The video, if you use the auto stability is crap so just don't use it.
The phone does stutter, and take a while sometimes. I am using the stock ROM, and have made no modifications to the file system or home screen at all. As is, this phone is average, so for the price, not worth it. I do have the Verizon version, and not sure if that makes a difference. Can't wait for the Note 8 to come out.
I've had mine since November and still love it. I came from the G7 edge which I was quite fond of as well. The following are the good things that keep me on the Pixel.
- Camera, for stills easily the best available. Wish the EIS didn't cause the jello effect when panning while video recording, but nonetheless I've been quite pleased with the camcorder as well.
- Software, clean, simple, fluid and robust. I am on stock unrooted. I reboot my phone once a month for updates and the phone never lags, gets janky or develops issues requiring a reboot. Additionally, the speed of updates means I'm always up to date with the most secure version of Android available.
I've had my Pixel XL 128gb since launch. I came from a Note 7, so was very challenging to get used to having a very lean software base which didn't offer many features in comparison to the Samsung series. I missed many software features from the Note 7.
The thing that gets me the most, is that I was already bored of the device 6 months in. I usually hold onto a phone for 12-24 months. The Note 4 I held onto for the longest time (24months). I enjoyed it as there were both android OS updates, and touchwiz updates, so it constantly got a new lease to life looking fresh or having new features. 8 months on and the Pixel looks exactly the same, with no updates.
I also feel that the design looked dated when I bought it, but it now is really showing it's age with the HUGE bezels. I have also struggled to find any good screen protectors (I've tried them all) as they don't sit properly. The phone is huge with a smaller screen than most phones this price/size.
It's got the worst bluetooth of any phone I have every owned, partly down to Android but also to the Pixel.
Had a lot more ROM options for Samsung, being that you can go Note 4 roms, Note 5 roms, Note 7 roms, AOSP builds, CM, MIUI. I feel like the Pixel has AOSP, stock. That's it really. They are all the same with very minor changes.
Otherwise it's mostly buttery smooth - although i'm constantly keeping my eye out for a new phone, so could be the shortest period I have owned a phone for.
Sighh.. so guys, i had my mi mix for about 6 months and i loveD this phone. but i feel like its come to the end of the line already.
MIUI is basically unusable for me, missed notifications, calls missed by delay of ring & late notifications, group texting is horrible, camera image processing sucks, OS crashes etc. (all this before rooting mind you)
But after rooting all of those issues went away....for a bit.
so since day 2 i had it rooted running lineageOS and switched to RR, but 3 months later and up til today i started experiencing:
Slight screen burn
Constant OS Crashes/Random Reboots
Cell Signal dropping in areas that it didnt while running MIUI
Still bad camera image processing
Call Audio dropping extremely low when volume is Maxed
Bluetooth disconnects while my phone is in my pocket (didnt happen on MIUI)
and several other things.
I work in I.T. and cant have some of these things happening while at work.
I started looking at alternative devices and since the Pixel 2 is too dang much for my pockets I'm considering the Pixel XL.
I hate that the screen is 5.5 inches over my 6.4 but I need something nice that works. I'm wondering if i left if I'd be happy or nah?
Personally, the screen real estate and battery life the mi mix provides are too good to leave for a mere 5.5 inch phone. Also, I'd rather have 1080p over 1440p as I consider it a waste. I don't mind the lcd over amoled, I love the screen just fine, and I don't take lots of pictures so I'm not really bugged by the camera. Overall I consider the pixel xl an ugly ass phone and think it'd be crazy to change your beautiful and futuristic mi mix with that humongous display for an ugly small screened phone that doesn't even have a better processor. Hope it helped

what are ur thoughts on the G6 or Huawei Mate 9?
The way you are talking you seem to have made up your mind already.
I find it odd though that I'm not experiencing any of the symptoms you mentioned.
My guy u do realize your 1 in the possible thousands of people that own this phone correct? Nobody's device is perfect. This is what I'm experiencing personally not the whole mi mix end user list. The only thing I have made up in my mind is that my phone isn't gonna last forever as my daily driver because of these issues so I'm seeking suitable alternatives before I make the jump.
Get the oneplus 5t, it will be coming soon and has a newer processor than the pixel xl. Or s8+ if you can get it for a decent price in whichever country you're from.
I've always rooted and modified whatever phone I've had and I can say I love miui it's smooth it's fast it has built in theme support which is what I mainly rooted for I'm sorry you've had issues u gave miui only 2 days before u jumped ship I would flash stock miui 9 from epicrom and see if issues resolve before downgrading to pixel XL....but with the recent software improvements and price drop essential phone should be a consideration before pixel XL it's newer it has SD 835 and screen size you're used to and at 449 u can still get 450 for mi mix easy and be out no money just my .02

Appreciate the reply! I'll give this a shot, although I dont see why stock android wouldnt give me a better experience than MIUI. I used to love miui back in versions 6 & 7, and im not saying its bad now but i just had a bad experience with it on this device. but ill definitely give it another go!

Thanks ! im in the USA, but i was trying to stay around that 500-600 price point, the S8+ is kinda pushing it being as though its $724.99 over here. the one plus is definitely a contender for the future though
I would try a few other ROMs before getting a different phone. AICP has been rock solid for me now for months.
One issue your having is the custom roms - I tried them all and more or less they all get buggy over time [some more than others]. I run stock global and its has next to never crashed [fc'ed], call quality is fine and carrier permitting the notifications [network related ones] show up fast / local ones never get missed.
Two the pixle only has a camera that's better, screen is worse more or less - storage is A LOT worse and you don't even really get a more durable device.
Been using mine as my daily driver since I picked it up in late Jan 2017 - its really never failed me as long as I didn't go rooting / fiddling with things. That brings me back to something I mentioned awhile back in another post. Miui doesn't like to be tampered with - roms based on this tend to become unstable [been using miui roms since 2008 or so and the behavior has never really changed]. The non miui roms are stable enough until you go messing with them too [especially visually]. In addition to that many of the custom roms seem to leave things out, often little things but they add up to annoyances.
Its your money - but the Pixel isn't the one I would go for if your looking to replace this thing. Its not that good a phone. Look at the Mate 9 / 10 series or some other designs.

I recover this thread some time later because I am very sadly considering selling this wonderful device. Development is very poor and doesn't look to get any better and that is a crucial point for me. I mean, I have a Nexus 5, left out from official Google development a long ago, and community's very strong and development is never stopping, great kernels, some good Oreo builds... It is very sad when compared to the Mix.
I love this big guy but probably will sell it soon and move to ... That's the problem! To what??
This discussion was carried out a while back and some new players have appeared since then. What are your opinions? What would be the best alternative?
Top of the game specs and big screen are musts for me and those two features combined make it real difficult ...

Well, we have AOSiP that is going to be updated to oreo soon, and the new notification system in the MIUI developer rom made me have interest in MIUI again.
I agree that the development is poor (although the ones that do/did develop are/were awesome) and its sad to see developers leave but Im proud to own the device that pioneered the bezeless screen and even does it better than the modern flagships (and the MI MIX 2 ) and it is the most beautiful brick in the world.
My plan is to wait for oreo from AOSiP and meanwhile try the MIUI developer rom again with the new notification system (I cant afford a new phone so I have no other choice ).
About alternatives, I think the honor v10 is a great alternative (low price and great hardware and software) Although there is almost zero development in xda for this phone (because of the kirin processor) but EMUI is now great after the EMUI 5 update and huawei phones are a part of the first phones that got the oreo update so the support from huawei is good.
But In my opinion the best alternative is the OnePlus 5T and I think I dont have to explain why :laugh: .

Have you seen the Samsung version of that concept? Same full screen and they're saying maybe out by 2019 Galaxy Z phone is what it may be called

Yeah more or less in the same spot. Still waiting and hoping for the guys behind AOSiP, AICP and Viper to bring Oreo to the Mix And maybe some new developer to get the phone and play around with it a bit.
The OP5T does look cool, probably the best value right now in the market. Maybe similar to Mix 2 although dev support is probably better for OP devices in general.
One thing about new notification shade: it is supposed to be there in the 7.12.8 beta (only china beta) , but it is not there in the same release of xiaomi.eu... Haven't tried official MIUI but I find it strange that it is not in the xiaomi.eu mod. Know something about it?
Searched miui forum and read changelogs and stuff and didn't actually find anything clear on the matter. And no official global beta since 7.5.25 I believe...

Yeah, back cover seems OK but that full display screen is kinda fairy tale. I and some were expecting Mix 2 to come as +6,4'' screen with less bezels and it became worse. So I keep my expectation about the display screen a bit low.

Didn't see it yet. Samsung perhaps does a bit better job over unlimited screen but they cut from edges and put it to top/bottom. Jeans' pockets are not capable to make them fit lol. What a PITA.

Definately a strong community for the phone. Hopefully it will stay like that quite a while, the F1 has potential for a few more years
My flashing addiction began with the first generation of Nexus 5's, then on to the first three OnePlus phones, a few RedMi phones and now the Poco. This is probably my favorite device so far. Not only is the device beefy enough for me, but the community is pretty active and supportive. There are plenty of solid ROMs available and some are updated frequently. That makes a difference. Community counts.
It's so difficult to buy a phone that has little or no custom ROM support.
Previous to this phone, I had a Moto G7 Plus and a Honor 9, both of which have next to no support via XDA. I moved to the Poco F1 as I fancied getting back in to flashing custom roms like I used to in the days of my Nexus 5, however, having used the device, I have thus far felt no need whatsoever to unlock the device and flash anything on it as I find that the stock MIUI rom works perfectly well for my needs - I grew accustomed to the extra goodies on both EMUI and the Moto and quite like the little extras with MIUI.
I started rooting phones since Android 1.6 (I had an Akash Tab knockoff, which Indians should remember). Every device after that was Android and it was unbearable to live without rooting until Kitkat phones came. That was when the benefits of rooting started to decrease (and ironically, the dependence on google play services started to increase). Google play services is the ultimate phone killer. I run my phone without gapps and my phones just fly.
Just saying, I still have a Samsung Galaxy Ace s5830i which rooted and all apps removed running on GingerBread has the same screen response time as my Poco F1 which stock MIUI. That was the power of rooting. These days with faster processors, the difference is not that apparent. Now-a-days, I simply root because it's my habit and I cannot stand living with google on my phone. And better battery life.
Once you get used to totally disabling the notch (because notches are starting to be a thing of the past), this phone will live on for years.
However, the device still has some problems.
On miui, you will answer a call on speaker when connected to bt audio.
On custom rom, random bluetooth connection drop and slow/no connection when devices search each other.
Wifi n speeds plummet when...using bt audio.
I come from an LG G6. The bt audio implementation was better than anything else.
Community development strength!
I bought the Poco just a month ago, and it's one year old now but it's still an awesome phone it has been my favorite phone hands down and my flashing and unlocking addiction started with the Moto X 2013 and I've had many since, but I love my Poco and I love the people in our development community everybody is so helpful and cool! I love that there is so many ROMs and kernels, and the really huge draw for me to the Poco was that we even have MultiRom! I even actually love MIUI as much as some custom ROMs ..it is just a great phone all around and I really hope and pray we get a new second version soon, because I will be buying it for sure. Thanks for being such an awesome development community guys!

The community strengh is strong. a lot of roms are being released almost every day. I hope it keeps like this and it prolongs time our device is supported. I hope lineageos will be developed for poco during many years more. pocopone deserves it
