Hows your Moto X holding up?

Just curious how everyone is enjoying their Moto X Pure Editions since they've been out for a little over a year now. I've left mine stock the entire time I've had it which is something new for me. As far as the phone itself is concerned I really like it. Love the screen, the size, shape, etc. However, really looking to get something else or rooting as I've had a ton of software issues. Apps not responding the way they should or crashing repeatedly . This is the first phone I've had that's actually acted this way so kind of turned off by it.

Stock here, 11 months of use, 2 updates (5 to 6.0 and the last security update) never a issue.
Just one time, the screen shows a rare horizontal lines, 1 reboot and back to normal.
The heat you ask? Yes, in chrome and YouTube, the heat is an "add on" not specified in the manual...
Great phone, but my next one is a OnePlus 3, not a Lenovorola

Screen cracked on first one and had to play endless games with the repair department, including reporting fraud on my credit card. Both speaker grills are working on their second time falling out. Screen and glass coating are better than average on the replacement. I like the LTE bands, high res screen, and the ability to use a big microSD card. The lack of software support is the worst I've seen of an OEM phone. I had to switch to CM13 but there's nobody there who can completely fix the drivers - VoLTE breakup, proximity sensor bugs, speaker fade-out bug, no WiFi calling, poor low light camera performance, etc. I don't see myself trusting Lenovo again for many years to come.

Stock Style
Kept it still in stock. No major issues. Been using the phone with the stock Moto Screen cover plastic still in place (all moto phone have nice plastic screen guard which I never peel. Use it heavily for 3-4 days post unboxing and remove the logo, which has now dried due to screen heat, with a coin). Waiting with finger crossed for Andorid 7.
Camera app and camera as hardware was real disappointment. unlike G4 plus camera app, this phone camera app is very basic in nature. Also the camera is not comparable with other phone's of this budget. Otherwise this was an awesome deal.

Much the same experience for me. Very happy with the phone for the price (I paid UK £300 in December 2015). Still amazed at the sound quality from the speakers. Fast charging too.
I also had the horizontal lines problem about a month ago - thought the phone had died but a reboot solved it. Has only happened once.
Issues ? For me :
would like wireless charging
wish Lenovo were better with updates
maybe a bit too big - but that's my problem , not the phone's - I wanted a big display.

Bought it approx. 2 months ago (15th July, 2016) and really enjoying it all over except the display, my display is bit warmish when compared to other phone and also has a slight bleeding in left corner. I wish it had AMOLED display as the previous series. Camera gives really good pics so happy with it. Would like to know if anyone else has the same display concern as mine.

Stock rooted EU Style at 6.0.1 - so far there are no issues with the phone

Picked it up on the Prime Day sale.
It does the job and is better than my previous phone, a Nexus 4.
Minor gripes. If it gets the update to Nougat I'll be happy with what I paid for it.
It will soon be my girlfriends phone and I'm getting an iPhone 7 or Pixel X. That iPhone is just a screamer. Fast, and good looking. Would be my first Apple product.

Used to like the phone, now I'm extremely indifferent about it. I haven't had any hardware problems, but the lack of software support is extremely disappointing. The camera takes OK pictures, the battery rarely provides more than 2.5 hours SOT, and from what I can tell every custom ROM for this phone blows chunks (I've tried all the popular ones, but the CM base sucks). I've had sporadic issues with cell service, which I believe are software related, and to top it off, my phone somehow nuked itself while I was on vacation in June (I was able to get it back but I lost a bunch of stuff and had to re-setup my phone while on vacation)
I was at Disney world all day, battery died about an hour before I left the park. I got in the car, plugged it into the car charger, and while it was coming up to the battery screen it went haywire and rebooted. Then the charging screen came up and I shrugged it off. About 30 minutes later I tried to turn it back on, and it just bootlooped endlessly. So I had to pull out my laptop, use the slow hotel wifi and download the firmware, then use fastboot to re-flash everything. Luckily I use Google photos to back up pics, so I didn't lose any of the vacation photos.
For the first time in years I'm considering an iPhone. Never had to deal with this kind of crap with my old iPhone 5.

Love my Style, changed 2 screens on it, been stock since I purchased it brand new, not through choice, can't root this phone at all, I've tried every combination possible but the remote server times out requesting the token I'd so I've given up any hope of rooting it.
Apart from that the phone has been flawless, the odd heating up with certain apps which I can put up with.
Not really impressed with the way Moto/Lenovo have treated this supposed flagship in terms of updates and still no solid word from the company if our device will get nougat. It probably will get it but I would have bought a pixel xl by then.

No major issues really (bar the obvious update void). Still love the fact that the phone is smaller than my friend's iphone 6 plus, yet the screen is larger.
First phone I've ever owned that still does not have a single scratch on the screen even though it has been naked since day one, got the phone October 17th. In fact there are very few marks on the phone overall and I've dropped it from knee height onto the road a couple of times.
I often think about wanting a new phone (only because I have G.A.S (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) but then I realise that anything I get won't really do anything that this one doesn't already do.
Waiting patiently for Nougat!

I bought the Style with extreme enthusiasm since it ran "stock" android and had an SDcard slot. My initial impressions were hopeful... it was a little laggy but other than that, it was okay, and the speakers, OH GOD the speakers. But after a month or two of using it and unlocking the bootloader, it was obvious that there were some serious issues with the phone. Lenovo/Motorola obviously didn't know what they were doing when they made the stock ROM for the device. It was always laggy for me and there were other issues as well. After tons of attempts to find an AOSP or stock rom that fixed these issues... i gave up. I just accepted that TruPureX was the best i was going to get. It made me miss my LG G2 and HTC M8. Anyways after a little under a year i did a lot of thinking and eventually made the decision that i was tired of feeling the need to flash custom firmwares, bootloaders, recoveries, etc. just to get my phone to function in the manner that I feel it should. I ended up buying a (very expensive) iPhone 6S Plus. I understand that people will most likely bash this decision and i respect your views, so respect mine. I still believe android as an OS is superior, but the OEMs just can't properly implement it into their devices in the way that Apple can. I don't regret my decision and now i have amazing battery life and everything "just works". Which isn't something i've been able to say about an android phone. I'm not advising anyone to do what i did, i respect all technology as well as your views, i'm just sharing my experience. Owning this phone annoyed my so much i switched sides (at least for a while).

Sounds like we have similar experiences. I've never owned an Iphone but have had multiple Ipods and Ipads. I think I've grown out of the flashing game myself. I look at all the roms available for the Pure and I'm just not impressed at all. I've come from a long line of Android devices that have all had excellent development and this one has been a bust. I have also been thinking about going with an Iphone but I'm pretty terrified of getting away from the Android environment lol. I'm just to a point in my life where I want my phone to function flawlessly the majority of the time. I wasn't impressed at all with my Galaxy S5 so that's kind of turned me away from Samsung in general. I really liked my HTC devices so I may give them another look in the near future if I don't end up giving Apple the go ahead.

Yes our experiences are indeed very similar. The phone i was most impressed with was my HTC M8. The battery life that it gave with the "small" battery was amazing at that time, but my 6S+ has a similar battery, bigger screen and more powerful processor and it somehow manages to demolish the M8s battery life. I find it extremely impressive. I'm a college student and i just decided i didn't have the time to keep flashing things, etc. The only thing that i hate about iOS is the fact that you have no access to the file system. I may jailbreak and fix some things but for now i'm trying it unmodified. At least on ios you're guaranteed good software support for a good while.

This. Exactly this.

A couple of white spots on my LCD. Not a huge deal.
LCD cracked- without cracking the glass, which is a first for me.
It took a ton of work to get the battery where I needed it.
Development is dildos. ONE (brilliant) stock rom, and its developer left. All the AOSP roms have issues.
I can't believe with only 3 unlocked phones on Verizon, we don't have an abundant choice of roms. Ridiculous.

Had mine since Christmas eve. I replaced the battery thinking it was dying, turns out I just use a lot of battery-consuming apps. Aside from that, hardware has been top-knotch. No issues with software (still running Lolipop), but I rooted the day I got it and disabled updates because I heard the MM update was having tons of issues and causing pops in the speakers and battery drains, etc. and never got around to going MM.
Convinced 2 friends to get Moto X pures as well, and they both love it.

I've had the Pure since November 2015: rooted and spent most of the time on stock. Right now, I'm running Dirty Unicorns 10.6 official, which has the September 2016 update. My overall impression is: 5.5 out of 10 (10 being the best). It's a decent, middle-of-the-road phone.
PROS
Unlocked (no carrier BS)
Bright screen
Two speakers with decent sound
CDMA and GSM antennas
Decent call quality
Motomaker configured to taste
CONS
So-so battery life. My LG G3 lasted about 48 hours after full charge. My MXP lasts about 18 hours.
So-so camera. Forget about low light pictures. (Missing my LG G3 camera...)
Mediocre level of enthusiasm about the phone, i.e., it took a long time to get decent cases/screen protectors, ROM development is OK but there are more devs for other phones
Lack of Android updates from Motorola. (I prefer stock due to stability and battery life.)
Heavier than a comparable Samsung Galaxy phone for it's size.
No "wow" feature to the phone: everything is just meh.

why is it nobody mentioned about its ram.. ram management on mm is so poor. i get 600 to 800 sometimes 500 ram free with no other apps installed. pure stock no root.vthats why its so laggy at times... bought it last month for $260 with 32gb on best buy.. i thought it was a deal but cant help notice the lag sometimes. i have a lg g pro 2 3 gb ram with snapdragon 800 on 2014 model... i get 1500 free ram so why is moto x pure on 2015 model only gets 600 to 800 free ram with 3gb phone. will motorola lenovo can still fix this great phone ?

After loving my Moto X and Moto X 2014, I gave the Moto X 2015 a try. On stock It lags a good amount, battery life is below average, sound is loud but quality is bad, also when I receive notifications the sound lags in the middle of it, and the phone ran extremely hot just using social apps or playing light games.
CM13 was the only rom to bring this phone back to life for me. I underclocked the cpu and gpu because of heat and battery power increased dramatically. Notification sounds sound normal and even when underclocked, the phone is still snappy on CM13.
My gf have a Samsung Galaxy s6 with apps I use plus more and her phone didn't nearly get as hot as mines with also better battery life than I was on stock.

pixel xl, slower than One plus 3!?

No offense but I am still waiting for the pixel to become available to purchase mine, but according to this the pixel is slower than the one plus 3!? I already own a one plus 3 now I am bit skeptical if I should spend 600$ on a phone that is slower..

I wouldn't if you already have a Oneplus 3. Especially since a Oneplus 4 shouldn't be too far off, and it will for sure curb stomp the pixel.
That being said, I'm getting the Pixel just for the better camera and daydream. And currently I'm just using a cheap Huawei, because my note7 was recalled

you can get Google Pixel and Google assistant free. if you only want the software experience
work's with any Marshmallow device. with root and custom ROM.

ZTE axon 7 got QHD screen and is twice as cheap.

It may open up some games faster but its not a " faster" experience. You have to remember that these kinds of comparisons are never black and white. If this changes your mind then you're an idiot.

Why is not a faster experience one plus runs nearly stuck android. One plus is the closes to stock that you will get aside from Google. And it almost outperformed the pixel in every test. I dont want to agree as I will. E leaving the op3 for the pixel due to the quick updates for the pixel phone but is pathetic that Google makes a phone that performs just like a 400$ phone and price it twice as high..

They are running two different versions of Android, and they have both optimized their software differently. The Pixel very well could have theirs optimized for battery life rather than app performance such as the OP3.. There are too many variables.

There is no rationalizing with folks who are caught up on the price of the Pixel......
I paid $37,000 for a Jeep Wrangler.. Thing has less options and modern amenities than a $20,000 Hyundai.... But it's a Jeep. It is what it is folks... More senseless grumbling, I guess it will subside eventually..

All I know is I've never had an android phone that was buttery smooth all the time like iOS runs on iPhone. The latest android phones i've used before the Pixel were the Nexus 6, 6P, 5X, Note 7, & S7 Edge and those phones always had hickups here and there in different apps so I've mainly been back on iPhone for the last 1-2 years. The Note 7 you could tell was snappy, but jump in the browser and start scrolling and it would 'hesitate' or 'lag' but it was never butter like the iOS browser. The Pixel is as close to iOS smooth that I have seen on an android phone and it is a very welcome feeling.

Like I've been saying: It's not about cold hard specifications. It's about how the WHOLE package comes together as a unit. The Pixel is a great example where the phone is greater than the sum of its parts. Google optimized the **** out of this device -- which is probably one of the reasons why it's so smooth. You could also argue that this optimization also greatly enhanced battery life. These two things together could take away from super-fast game loading which is why it's being beaten at this task by some older/lesser devices.
It's how you look at the TOTAL picture folks... like I said, it's not white and black.

What would you chose a Lexus or a Mercedes-Benz?..

Believe me, the OnePlus 3 is not as great as many reports suggest - I can't wait to get rid of mine. It replaced a reliable Nexus 6P four months back and that was one of the worst phone decisions I've ever made. Why? Yes the OnePlus 3 is a very, very good phone in many ways. It's an piece of very solid hardware with a great camera and all the top specs you could want.
However, one of its key features that got my attention was the promise of a stock android experience. My mistake was I assumed that meant everything would be similar to my experience of Nexus phones (I'd had the 6P, the 6, the 5 and the 4 so far).Sure, I guessed updates would be less frequent, but overall I expected the same quality of software as a Nexus. How wrong I was. From the start, there were just so many bugs: for the first two months the on screen nav bar didn't work properly so I had to use the hardware buttons. There were problems with the mobile network connection; often settings i changed kept reverting to default after a reboot; notifications failed, ringtones were too loud; screen auto brightness levels were crazy; there were problems with SIM settings; and the battery drained very randomly. Wth every successive update that OP pushed out, only some of these bugs were fixed but even more new bugs were let loose. I think they've had to release urgent hot fixes for at least 3 monthly updates so far to address major issues. So now I can see why they are selling their phone so cheap: OP are woefully behind the bigger phone manufacturers when it comes to software development resources. For many that's worth it to save so much money, but not me
Worst still, if my own experience of OP's Community Builds programme to showcase and test new features is anything to go by, their stock android promise is about to be broken. They plan to introduce elements of their android software designed for the Chinese market. Think MIUI and you'll begin to get the picture. That's too much for any Nexus fan so guess what? My Pixel XL is ordered and arriving Wednesday and my OP3 is getting sold to my local second hand phone store right after that.
I can't wait to get back to a stable, reliable Google device again, even if the Pixel's pricing is ridiculous.

Valid point, I do agree that they are not very good in the software department.. I am myself getting a pixel I just don't think the pixel is priced right

Its the same exact price as the iPhone designed to directly compete with the iPhone. Nexus phones were never meant to be a huge money maker for Google -- the Pixel is, and as such is priced and marketed as such.

I think the pixel should of been a nexus 6p with a 5.5 inch display and updated specs keep everything else the same including the front facing speakers. Now that I would thrown my money at Google for.

The Nexus 6P had a premium feel to it, but was made poorly. Watch what happens on YouTube when you try to bend one. I like the Pixel design much better... no visor/camera hump, much more study, two-tone unique back design, etc.

My experience on moving on my Nexus 6.

Hello everyone! I hope you're all doing fine. Since I recently had the privilege to upgrade my Nexus 6 to One Plus 3T, I thought I should share my experience for all those thinking about the doing same. However, there is a plot twist as you read through the account. I got the One Plus 3T 128GB in used condition for about 350$ without the DASH charger (I was given a 4 amp OPPO VOOC charger which didn't turned out to be compatible with One Plus's DASH charge technology as claimed by the seller). Anyways, on my way home I started playing around with my new device and the first thing that got me depressed about my decision was this major screen downgrade, like literally it felt so unpleasant to my eyes. Secondly, I don't know if I'm being to choosy here but I could clearly see the difference between the drastic resolution shift from Nexus's Quad HD panel to One Plus's 1080p screen while watching videos on YouTube. As I reached home I played some songs and oh well the sound loudness couldn't compete with Nexus's front firing Stereo speakers even though the sound quality was fine. The One Plus's whooping 6 gigs of RAM did bring about great performance but one could barely notice the difference coming a Nexus device (Stock Android). Another minor point and kind of strange thing was that I was constantly missing the on screen buttons so bad, I tried turning on this option on my One Plus but I was only able to do so at the cost of giving another inch or so of the already small screen size hence I decided to keep it off. The best thing I liked about One Plus was it's fingerprint scanner, blazingly fast and a welcoming feature which the Nexus 6 had unfortunately missed. The second best thing has to be it's build quality, compact and slim size (It's way lighter then Nexus 6, you could clearly feel the difference). The camera was pretty solid too but I rarely used it so can't say much about it. The battery timing was great too (I didn't had much apps installed though). After using the device for about 4-5 hours I had made the decision... YES, I WANTED TO GO BACK TO MY NEXUS 6 SO BAD! The lack of those few extra inches and stereo speakers were really enough to make me realize that I shouldn't have made this upgrade, primarily because features like fingerprint scanner and good camera aren't really something I would find myself using often. Anyways, I went back to the seller and asked if we could work something out about this situation, he took the device back for 300$ (YES, I did make a compromise for my beloved Nexus ) and got my Nexus back from my dad as he was using it, installed latest version of Pure Nexus ( It's working great, try it out people) and everything was back to normal. It felt great. Lastly, trust me that One Plus is a great device, it's just my opinion on upgrading to it from Nexus 6, for someone who just wants to buy it, trust me it's worth your money, and I really like One Plus as a company too. This post is just for those people who don't have a good budget and want to do an upgrade, I highly suggest not to because you'll really end up missing your Nexus 6. It's a great device, trust me you only realize this once you're away from it. It's like I'm addicted to it. You can't get the same media experience on any other device. Also, we'll be soon seeing some Android Oreo development for the Nexus 6 Squad ( I can't really wait , waiting for a stable release even though there's one out there already). However, there are a few things that Nexus 6 really lacks such as a good front camera, fingerprint scanner, and USB type C yet it still makes a great device overall. Peace. Just got me a shamu again. It felt goid to have again. Had a 6p and a lgv20. This n6 i have missed for a while. So glad to be back. N6p was great but im a shamu lover.Really hoping the bext pixel will be my next only if its at least as big as this shamu..

I upgraded to a s7 only to regret it the screen, speakers and ROM development can not be matched by any other phone I don't use the camera or finger print scanner much so I ended up selling the s7 and buying 2 broken nexus 6 swaped parts around now I have 1 mint phone and a parts nexus 6 with amazing ROM development I don't see this slowing down anytime soon I plan on running this phone till I can find an equivalent replacement until then I am more then happy

I won't be doing it immediately, but I think I'll be shooting for the Pixel 2 XL late next year. Unlike a lot of people, I can live in most cases without the headphone jack, and can use the dongle the rest of time. Besides, I'm still a bit of a luddite. Even though I have multiple smartphones and my music in the cloud, I still keep a 16GB MP3 player around as a backup.

I couldn't agree more. I for a minute had a lgv20. Its size wasnt an issue but the UI. So I sent it back. Through a snafu with Verizon I ended up with a free Droid Turbo and Its been my back up phone for the times my beloved Nexus 6 has been down with a broken screen. Though its as close to the N6 within. It was still not even close. I now have a Verizon bought( unrooted as I didn't do my homework and made assumptions regarding its ability to be rooted) Pixle XL and although its much quicker and its screen is a bit nicer. I still have my Nexus 6 at home ready to go. I use the Pixle as my daily and it goes with me whenever I leave home. However the minute I walk in the door in the evenings I will grab my Nexus and use it for all of my media, fidlefarting around on the web and messing with anyone foolish enough to join my wifi. The screen size , forward facing stereo speakers and ability to run countless roms ( including my favorite dirty Unicorns with the Kali's Nethunter) keeps my Nexus 6 fresh and usable. I will say that I wish my Nexus was as fast as the Pixle. However is slowness in comparison to the Pixle something I am willing to endure at least for the time being. I'll end with this , I too have extra parts for my Nexus 6. It's currently a phone of from 3 as I have bought broken phones from ebay to construct it with a screen from 1, a main board from another and battery from yet another( with one more battery in reserve) and I will ride this phone out till it no longer works or becomes too antiquated and slow to serve its current purposes. Its the best phone I have owned and I have owned a whole ****ton of different phones going all the way back to the OG Driod.

I moved on from my Nexus 6 as my DD quite a while ago, only because it was too big to comfortably carry with me (it didn't fit in my purse ) But I still use it all the time at home, none of my other devices come close to it for media and that big beautiful screen. On Validus Oreo now, I've been running a GZR ROM on it since the day I got it, in Dec 2014. Love my shamu <3

Nexus 6p to Essential!

Im really thinking about the Essental, its pretty much down to this or G Pixel 2 XL, , but the price point and features of the essential are way better, it looks better too, specwise they are very similiar.
I love Project Fi though , i pay only what use , so if my plan is $60 bucks but i only use $20, i pay $20, thats the thing about the Pixel, but at over a $1000 bucks it looks like the Essential with $60/ unlimited by Sprint is a better deal
Anyone else coming from 6P, ive been a Nitrogen rom guy since day one , i love the 6 p , but once you get the battery bug "25%" , the hardware fails quivkly and its time to move on , this is my second 6P ,
Also switching betweeen Sprint/tmobile/uscellular is really cool, however the best service abd what im on 99% of the time is Sprint anyway, its looking like the Essential is tge one

Well camera is better in 6P and Pixel 2. More features in these phones, there are really no special things at all in essential. Don't get me wrong, i like that. Software is not mature enough, but the Oreo-beta seems Essential are going the right way. Lineage 14.1 is availible and its great. Lineage 15 on the way too. The size of the phone, and the overall quality of it is the best i've ever had! It's a great phone for the price and if price matters, this is a great alternative to pixel 2.

Get the essential phone. No regrats, YOLO swagin here on Oreo and magisk.

I upgraded from the original ones one lineage and this phone is very similar in terms of software but very different, upgraded hardware.
Do you want something that already looks dated (pixel 2 or xl2) or do you want that flashy iPhone X look and save $500+ cash?
It's no brainer when you think about how fash technologies advance. Not worth the price and on top of that the stupid little issues they are having.
If I'm paying $1100+ for a phone it better be damn perfect and have the best build quality out there...the new pixels are not...get the essential

Disclosure, I'm not a techy or an enthusiast so my feedback from just a regular user's perspective. Overall, I'm very happy with the quality and price I paid ($450). I was looking at Pixel 2xl, LG V30 but the design/build with the attractive price point of Essential sealed the deal. The camera is pretty decent. I have no complaints about it. I sideloaded Google camera app and used both Essential and Google apps. I don't find much difference between the two. The pictures from Google app seem to be brighter but Essential app seem quicker to me. Battery is excellent but that's sort of a low bar coming from 6P with battery issue. Software-wise, I'm ok with not being on Oreo it didn't impact my daily use much and overall the softwares on the phones are ok. I think to me this is the best-looking android phones I have ever seen. The build with premium materials and the design look great and feel great in your hands. With the hardware spec not much different from Pixel 2 or LG V30 and the right pricing, I'm willing to compromise somewhat and I was extremely happy with it. Hope this helps.

Same here. Came from a 6P. Did not get the first Pixel because the screen was 5.5 and that was too small for me. Got one of the first essential phones that came out. Had some bugs and they fixed it. Looked into the Pixel XL. Like the larger screen but the price is absurd when you get basically the same with the Essential. Running Oreo beta. No other kids, root or such. Phone works well for me. Camera is adequate for my needs.

Also came from 6P & I freaking love the Essential phone. The build quality is phenomenal and I can get by with the camera. Google didn't do it right to many issues with pixel 2. Go with Essential you won't regret it.

Came from a 6p as my battery was dying at 40% and I bought my phone from best buy instead of google so google could care less that their phone failed me. got the $160 deal on the phone from sprint and liking it so far way better battery camera is decent with the google app and is pretty snappy. the bugs can be annoying but i think it will be good once oreo is out of beta I Hope. really just happy I don't have to carry around my batter pack anymore.

I came from a 6P to and Essential PH-1.
I sent mine back but I was in the first wave of phones with the high price and all the issues.
I have a LG G6 but I'd trade the LG G6 to get a PH-1 again since most of the issues are resolved and accessories are available.
Also at $500 it's the phone bargain of the year.
The feel and form factor are great.
The Quality feels every bit as good as the iPhone X.
Also the XL is bigger and doesn't feel as good. YMMV
Also the XL costs almost double.
Unless the camera is your thing go for the PH-1.

I went 6p to Axon7(great device by the way) to Essential. All were good upgrades over the other. My Essential camera is just as good and really has taken some better pics than either of the devices before it using Gcam. Only thing I miss is the accessories as I'm a case and protector whore.

Sprint has you sign up never telling you they dont have the goddamn device in stock, they wait til you order it , then send an email that says were sorry its back ordered tough **** asshole , wont have any til christmas, but we are still charging you fees and the overnight shipping and anything else, thats piss poor

I canceled and gave my opinion of the way Sprint is f ucking people , they never mention anywhere that they dont have the phone instock and encourage you to use overnight shipping if you do it before 2 pm for $10 bucks, once you sign up, they send an email and blame the manufacturers of not having enough devices, if this was a first run fone id say ok , this fone came out in august, uts your fwult Sprint and lying to public is bull****

i have some experience of what you have so let me give my 2 cents.
i came from HTC M9 and Moto X Pure on Sprint. i still have my SERO-P Plan but instead i dont lease phones (because they make me switch my plan). I bought the Essential phone in the end of Oct. at best buy and im quite happy with it compared to the other two. At first, i had to return it because it would not activate on sprint and we couldnt figure out why. so i returned it and got another one. the other one turns out though was slippery like glass and overheated so i returned it... then after reading the XDA forums i noticed there is a heavier weight on the new ones so we weighed it before i took it. the new one is actually much more grippy than the last even with dry hands.
what i love about it:
first... the battery life. easily the best in battery life. i get 5 to 6 hours on a normal day of on screen time
fast android updates. the newest updates you have to take out your sprint sim, put a gsm sim and from there it will take the updates
the size, beauty, and weight
internet speed is pretty good too, thought gigabit speed is a hard time of getting actual confirmation from them. ive received on a few occasions 70+ mbps in my small town where ive gotten 30 last time with m9 and x pure.
the look is amazing and pure android is the icing on the cake.
bad things are:
camera is been improved since ive gotten it but still needs work. the issue ive experienced is the graininess.
sometimes i miss calls and texts (not sure if its sprint or the phone itself) but what i noticed is its pretty good compared to the m9 as far as bars go. the x pure was better in signal but it never got the speeds i got from this phone.
usb-c dongle but there is a 3.5mm mod coming for the phone soon from what i heard
response could be improved a bit
overall i will say go for it. despite the negative review... i still give it a 4.5 out of 5 because its andy rubin who knows how to tweak android anyway he feels like it and so far they did alot of improvement with just software updates. do a speed test with your 6p and essential and see for yourself. post a video if you can

Well im still up in the air , im not gonna use Sprint , i dont like being lied to, you dont start a relationship with a lie it never ends well, that being said, i dig the Essential and it is unkocked, just wish Fi would accept it, im also looking at the Pixel 2 XL and the Razer , seen another flagship killer called the Blackview S8 and id jusmp for a samsung S8+ , if the bl.was unlocked , i wont ever buy a locked boot loader unless it can be unlocked , thanks for the review that was what i wanted

I came for the 6P as well and I have no regrets. I do miss the camera on the 6P but I tend to still carry it around for the camera and mess with the os with new roms.
With the gcam port the essential takes some good shots.

@gman2pi or anyone on Verizon's network. how is the data speed and connectivity? My 6P has been having the shutdown issue at 50% and i missed emergency calls text today.
Was so frustrated that I ordered a battery tried to replace it and broke the damn phone and need one ASAP.
My concern has been the thread with the connectivity issues that the phone is having and slow data speeds.

I've had no issues and get the same bar strength and performance as my 6P in my usual locations. I only use phone, text, and primarily e-mail and some downloads on their network. I don't stream much on cellular and don't use Verizon visual voicemail or their other "special features" so can't comment on that.

Now I'm kind of salty because i got an email from best buy where i could have gotten one with the camera for $500 and i did not pull the trigger.

Came from og pixel, earpiece speaker blew, then went back to my nexus 6.. then this.. battery life is insane..on verizon signal seems great though i have missed some calls.. not sure why.. but great build quality.. no regrets

Currently have a 6P that I replaced the battery on. I am ordering the pixel 2 xl. It's a lot more money, but the video stabilization is so bad on the essential I couldn't buy it.

I've owned the Nexus 4 and the Nexus 6P, both of which were great devices. What's so special about the 3XL? There's nothing in it that isn't found in phones that are way cheaper. For those of you shouting about vanilla android, there is no vanilla android any more. Even Google now includes features that aren't found in any other version of android. But the thing that annoys me the most about pixel phones is Google's price policy. Why oh why are these phones 30% more expensive in Europe?

i just watched unbox therapy's video of the pixel 3 xl. to be honest i like it. yes the notch is bigger than others but it doesnt seem to bother me. maybe i'm too used to it from my iphone x. i wish the area on the sides of the notch would hold more information, but that is where xda comes in. i'm sure some developers can put more info there with their roms. the camera looks amazing. the screen quality finally looks up to par with samsung even though it's still an LG screen. you can tell they have matured their oled screens fast. the build quality looks really good. that soft gorilla glass on the back that doesnt attract finger prints looks like a nice touch. i'm going to objectively give this device a try instead of blindly following the masses of haters. but based of the videos i've watched already i think this device will end up being a great one.

Why do people keep asking why we pay more for phones in Europe? In Europe we pay VAT which adds about 20% to the cost of just about everything. It may not account for all the price difference but it accounts for the majority of it.

Overall Phones are good with price range. Nothing to hate about it. Phone has lot more than other phones with that price range. I had good experience with Pixel 2 XL. Phones are worthy to buy.
People hate about notch trend but I say its only way to cover screen on front. About some trends you will used to it. its not making problem in functionality.
I have Pixel 2 XL why I should by Pixel 3 XL ?
Plus about this phones is Snapdragon 845 , Titan M security module and Wireless Charging in Hardware. + ( Notch some people not like it )
about notch google will provide option to disable notch like one plus 6.
Pixel Cameras are always awesome then others with that price.
I believe Pixel users are 95% genuine users who uses almost every feature that company provide.

Got my 3 XL yesterday. I'm coming from a 2 XL so I expected a slight upgrade, but I'm finding a lot of things I love that I didn't expect.
- Tap to wake is WAY faster than on the 2. Having both side by side, the 3 wakes up a full second before the 2.
- The screen on the 3 looks sooo good. Crisper even. I never had any complaints about my 2 XL's screen, but I can tell the 3 XL is definitely better
- Speakers are noticeably better. Not sure about how loud they get, but the sound is richer on the 3 than the 2. The 2 is tinnier.
- Wide Angle Selfie camera is pretty cool
- Low light photos are noticeably better. This I didn't expect to notice as much, but a side by side comparison of the same photo with the two phones shows a noticeable improvement. The 2's photo looks duller than the 3. They might look the same after some post processing, but the 3's photo looks great without any touchups.
- Not phone related, but the Google Fabric case covers more of the bottom of the phone than the 2's did.
The only thing I have NOT liked is that with the notch, the number of notification icons in the status bar has been reduced to three, meaning 2 and a dot if you have more. If I reduce the display size to the lowest one, I can get three and a dot. The 2 XL has 4 and a dot. Hopefully we can figure out a way to turn off the clock. I never use it and I'd gladly give it up in exchange for more icons.

After I got the phone I realize it is so much better than expected. And the software polish and hard ware polish is next level

I have a Jeep JL with Android Auto. I was expecting the two to come together as expected but nothing happened. Spent time changing usb cables. I see power on the Pixel but no love from Android Auto. I'm hoping I just need to go to the dealership for a firmware upgrade or something but its disappointing that it just didn't work.
The only other thing I don't like is the double swipe up to get to the app drawer. Not sure how I feel about it.
With that said my complaints are minor. SOOOO many cool features that like.

My 2017 CRV also had trouble the first time I tried to use Android Auto. No map showed up, it gave me an ETA and the first turn arrow, but the only thing that updated was the ETA which was WAY off. When I got to my destination, I restarted the phone and the car, and on my way home, it worked as it normally does.

Happy out here. Got my 3xl 128gb on Verizon pre paid yesterday. Using on SIM in Ireland. Love pretty much everything about the phone. Kinda wish it had face unlocking but otherwise very happy. Everything just works and no bloat.

OK, so this may be biased, but I'm 100% in love with this phone. This is my first pixel phone, and I'm coming from a mid/budget phone, so that may make all the difference, but from the looks, the feels, the screen, the new gestures, the smoothness, the speakers, the call quality, the battery life, to whatever else this phone is, and can do, I love it. I've never had such a great experience from day one on any other phone, and I've been on Android since I got a Nexus One on day one. To me this phone is perfect. There is not one thing I can think of to complain about (OK I do have one. Have the phone either a bit thicker, or find another way to make the camera bump on the back flush).

Coming from a Oneplus 3T here. I am going through an RMA right now for the speaker issue, just to put that out there. With that aside, I love the phone otherwise. My only concern going in was the battery to be honest. The battery was larger than my 3T but still smaller than last year. It is a great phone. A great improvement over my 3T, which was still one of the best phones I've had.

Overall impression so far.
Got the phone on Friday, October 19, 2018.
1. Good build quality (better than 2 XL); feels rigid & premium in hand. The frosted glass back is really smooth & good to touch. Better that my ex's skin.
2. Battery life is pretty good too. Same or better than 2 XL. First cycle (WiFi only): from 96%; SOT: 5 hr 10 min in 1 day 10 hrs with 16% to go. It will ofc get better with more cycles & as it learns more. Also, the battery is smaller than that of 2 XL & powers a bigger & better screen & louder speakers.
3. Cameras. Need not say anything.
4. Screen: it is a Samsung panel on the 3 XL, performs like one. Really good. No black clipping for me except maybe on mobile data when speeds are low. That is more like a buffering and pixel issue but no black clipping. Could happen on any phone.
5. I really like the included USB-C Pixel buds; took me 10 minutes to get the right fit & learn to use them (fit them); follow the animations in the first time setup. They are really good. Good bass too.
6. Charging time using charger included in box: from 16% to 100%: around 1 hour 40 minutes. WiFi on. AOD on.
7. Notch: got used to it already & not noticeable anymore. I don't play games on the phone at all.
8. The speakers: a minor issue of imbalanced audio(bottom grill is louder) but no buzzing for me & no muffled sound either. Fixable via software update.
9. RAM management: it is bad rn; fixable by software update as the cause has already looks to be the kernel `lowmemoryKiller` as per some sources when you google.
I see 0 hardware based issues with the phone (apart from notch which is bad design & not an issue for me at least). Other issues will be addressed via an update. I see better performance in the future already. Even the pixel 2 xl got better with updates (at least for me).
Buying the Pixel stand soon.
TL;DR: Love it. Keeping it.

Like the phone...my only issues are with the display brightness and sometimes ram management. My conspiracy is that google dimmed the screen in order to avoid a crappy battery. 100% on this is like 65% on my iphone. Other than that, I love the speakers! Not sure if it's worth the $900

I remember when in the Nexus days, everyone said that all vanilla Android needed was a great camera and it'd be perfect. Google listened and produced pixel line with best camera, 3 generations in a row now. Now all anyone can do is nitpick the hardware. I think Google has achieved what most enthusiasts were after.

ifixit score is terrible (4 of 10). right to repair legislation is going to be needed - an industry wide problem - sad to see in a $1000 phone

- notch is just stupid. its stupid on the X, XS and on 3XL. stop the god damned notches. i just shut the notch off in developer options so its just a waste of pixels but its just poor design.
- pie having that idiotic gesture system and its forced (no developer or hidden option to go back). just copy the iphone's gesture system and be done with this moronic one
overall im happy because $1000 for me isnt breaking the bank but there are plenty of people where $1000 is a bit on the high side and this phone just doesnt deliver that value. its a nice phone and im happy with it - best android has to offer and camera is the most important feature - but google is a jerk, sundar pichai is a greedy jerk and a bad CEO. when i think of sundar pichai i think of a jerk who is also a spineless milquetoast. when i think of Steve Jobs i think of a jerk who was obsessed with aesthetics, beauty, ease of use, wanting to be best of breed, form and function, etc. google needs a better CEO. sundar pichai is a greedy jerk who needs to work at this harder than he does or let someone good take his place

Hey Im coming from the OG pixel xl as well. I currently have the 6t but don't actually find it much of an upgrade from my pixel. Ive got 15 days to return it so Im looking to buy the 3xl instead. Would you say that the upgrade from the OG xl to the 3xl is worth it?? Thanks!
