My S7 edge appears to have just died in my hands

I have an S7 edge duo factory unlocked. Bought it in july and i've been using it since then.
Earlier today I was using it when it seemed to freeze up for a few seconds and then just turned off. I haven't been able to turn it back on. Even plugging it into the charger is doing nothing. I also tried using the wireless charger. The charger itself acts as though it's charging the phone but the phone itself doesn't respond in any way.
I've tried holding down the power button for a minute. I've also tried popping the SIM card out as well as making a phone call to the phone. None of it does anything.
Any other suggestions before i call samsung?
NM - power and volume down for 10 seconds got the phone to restart and it seems ok now
Happened to my S7 edge yesterday, exactly the same thing. Just appeared to turn off but if I called it then it rang out on the other phone. Plugging it in didn't even produce the charging LED. I googled it and it's a common thing apparently, the fix being exactly what you did
That's strange can you download cpu-z and screenshot your soc also goto settings>about device>software info and screenshot shot that as well like how I did
Maybe it's because of a system update a fault with the firmware to one or few specific regional updates

I am unable to add a screenshot, i did dl the appmyou suggested so have all the info. Is there anything in particular you are interested in? Excuse my ignorance but I have no idea what I'm looking at so if you can explain your thinking that would be great.
If u can't screenshot Then type the details...what chip is it on snapdragon or exynose
Baseband version as well as build number

Keeps rebooting on the Samsung S5 screen

Hi, I am looking for help with a problem I have trying to fix a friends phone.
It is a Samsung S5 G901F and it keeps rebooting the Samsung S5 screen, it never gets to the Android screen.
Vol+ and On gives “Recovery Booting” in blue on the top left of the screen, but it never goes into recovery – just keeps rebooting the Samsung S5 screen.
The only way I can get into this phone is via vol-, home key and On to bring up the download screen, press vol+ and I get the Downloading ... + Android character, and:
Odin mode (high speed)
Product name: sm-g901f
Current binary: Samsung official
System status: Official
Reactivation lock: off
Knox warranty Void: 0x0
Qualcom secureboot:enable (csb)
Apswrev: S1, R1, A1, P1
Secure download: enable
UDC Start
I have downloaded several stock ROMs of various vintages and they all download onto the phone without error using Odin 3.09, but when I try the phone it still goes into the reboot cycle.
As a last resort I have downloaded android 4.4.4 ROM G901FXXU1ANK3, and G901_pit_G901FXXU1ANK3_EVR.pit onto my pc, with the intention of trying re-partitioning and downloading the ROM.
But before I do that I would appreciate and thoughts that might resolve my problem?
Thanks!

And what was the primary problem? Stuck home button?

Many thanks for your rely BBSC.
The phone had been lying about unused for about a year. It was working when last used with a working cracked screen.
He wanted to sell it so he replaced the screen (lcd + digitiser), charged the battery and when it was switched on it just kept rebooting.
I took the back off the phone and disconnected the home button. When I tried vol-, home and On, it did not go to the download screen. I reconnected the home button, tried vol-, home, and On and it went to the download screen, so this suggests that the problem is not associated with the home button
I hope this means something to you.
Thanks again!

Ok, the main question is "What's happening."
Based on my limited knowledge and experience, I would say, there are 3 opportunities:
1. A firmware failure. The simplest case. I'd give one out of ten for this variant. Can be solved just by flashing a factory firmware, preferably service firmware or a common HOME firmware and pit-file with reformatting the phone's memory. You say you are going to do it. Wise decision, I think.
2. The new lcd module is produced in China and has limited or no compatibility with the phone. I'd give four out of ten for this variant. Can be diagnosed by temporary reverting to the old lcd with cracked glass.
3. A hardware failure of the EMMC chip. I'd give five out of ten for this variant. You'll understand this if you flash a service firmware in p.1 and the phone does not change it's behavior.
P.S. Excuse me, but you cannot disconnect the home button just taking off the back of the phone.
The home button is soldered in the sub-PCB (USB/charging port PCB) and cannot be disconnected.
The small rectangle connector under a small rectangle cover is fingerprint sensor's connector and has nothing to do with the home button and Odin mode.
Hi bbsc, 10 out of 10 with your summary!! I bought the screen for the Samsung S5 i9600. It turns out that there are different screens for the G900f and G901f.
The one I bought was for the G900f variant whereas I have a G901f model.
Thanks for the info on the home button - I had always assumed the cable included the home button function.
Thanks again!

Let's clarify the things a little.
I don't know exactly if the LCDs for SM-G901 and SM-G900 are different.
To say the truth, I don't see any reason for them to be different.
If it was my phone, I'd bet they are compatible.
It's only my guess, as you definitely understand.
But I do know exactly that Samsung has never produced "Samsung S5 i9600" you've bought LCD for.
There was a Chinese copy of SM-G900 called "Samsung s5 i9600 МТК6589".
It was MTK6589 based and looked very close to original.
Hello there Fellows ! Yes we do have a solution to this Problem. I had the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 which had the similar problem, the first week, it kept rebooting itself. If connected to the Charger, it worked and after getting frustrated and user reviews that said Wipe the cache and Factory Reset, nothing worked. And had the new Galaxy S8 so kept the Note aside for a week, finally i decide to change the firmware and then came the solution. When i tried to turn on the Phone, it didn't. I charged it, the Battery logo kept popping up and disappearing, thought the charger was faulty but nope instead, the Battery was the issue. Been using it for a month now without any problems. So, rather than factory hard resetting, change the Battery. I bought the copy version for $7 with NFC. So, change the Battery if it's removable, if it's built in, try changing the firmware and if it didn't work, buy a new or DIY Repair. Goodluck ?

Hi...
What did you do to repair the device...? My s7 edge has the exact problem now... Pls help...
I am having the same problem...
Most likely motherboard is dead. Happened on my flat S7. Died during the night. Took to ASC and they told me motherboard needs to be replaced, at a cost of approx. 14k INR. Got back the device without getting it repaired. Paid 180 INR as inspection charges. My S7 edge is showing similar signs of sudden slowness and freezing, which was a precursor to my flat S7 going dead.

Samsung galaxy s7 edge modem crash error

Today i bought a samsung galaxy s7 edge (used) it was working fine when i got it but after a few hours it went black then a message saying modem crash or something along those lines i thought it just crashed so i pressed the power button and now an sbl error is on screen is there anything i can do?

Please help

So I recently got back into my s7 edge because my s8 plus screen broke and I had to order a new one. This is my issue:
I stopped using my s7 edge like 8 months ago because the battery got inflated and the cover came off. I bought a new battery today and replaced it myself. But when I conected my s7 to the charger it just shows a small blue message on the upper left corner "Recovery Booting" It flashes. I can get no commands to work. Ive tried them all. Hard reset, download mode, etc none work. I never did nothing risky on my device. I just used it for whatsapp, messenger, and youtube. My pc doesnt recognizes the phone and It wont power on. Not even to the samsung display logo. It doesnt even show the green battery charging animation (when the phone is off, and charging).
Really hope someone can help me. I really need to fix this ASAP cause of my work.
After some researching I think I might have a hard bricked s7 . I will buy a jig tomorrow. Hopefully that will help
You should think about changing the thread title.
Most people wont open a thread with "Please help" as the title...
