Hello,
SO, I like the offline charging animation and want to use it as a .GIF for something. How would I get this as a .GIF. I have tried a lot. All I could get was the frame position text file and the multi surface image but not sure how to convert it. I really want this and don't know what to do.
Suggestions appreciated,
Thanks!

I see all these instruction for editing splash screens and converting them to a format the Wizard can handle, but I just want a simple way; I'd like to get a ready-made splash screen that I could just upload to my device and overwrite the current splash screen.
My current splash screen is a stupid picture of a beer mug and I want to change it to something that looks more "Windowish" (you know, it might have clouds or bubbles and stuff and reads Windows or something like that on the screen). Please let me know where to get one and what directory to place it in on my Wizard. You can also send the splash screen file to my email if that's not too much of a hassle.
Thanks!
-John
You should use the search function.
There is a very simple way described few posts down.
Really? Well thanks for letting me know the link
In other words, I still couldn't find it

Hey, I'm trying to make some bootscreens but I dunno which gif editor to use, both Ulead and Animation Shop Pro give me gif files that dont play properly, they come up as static :S Anyone gimme any pointers?
[I'm trying to make a bootscreen where it shows the HERO with the android boot.gif (and removing the "HTC" animation frames), then the nexus boot1.gif then looping nexus boot2.gif, if anyone can make a boot_animation.xml file, I'd greatly appreciate it]
Regards,
Shen
EDIT: SOLVED, GIMP works brilliantly.
Is it possible to get that boot animation for winmo?
example attached
Yes, you just make the gif and set it as your startup animation using advanced config.
did that. it booted then the screen went blank till it fully booted. does it need to be the exact same resoulution as my topaz? and is there a size limit for the animation. and does anyone know of a good freeware animation program?

It should be 480x800 to display properly.
Not sure about exact size perameters but if it is too long it will not play. Sometimes it takes several attemtps to get it right.
what length should i keep it around?

I don't know exactly but my animation plays about 15-20 slides.
Also, play with the timeouts in AC, I had an issue where mine didn't work after I flashed a new ROM, but I finally got it working again by messing around with the network screen timeout.
ok I got it to somewhat work. it loads my animation but for some reason it flickers like but still plays at a good speed.any ideas?
REQ: Nexus One boot animation
Does anyone have the GIF/video file to share here, I'm not sure where to find it to do my own conversion, ideally not a dodgy YouTube video, looking for quality here!
Many thanks in advance to whoever does share.

Your best bet would be to ask around in the android and nexus one threads
Heres a couple animations I edited into 480*800 a short one and a long one. No matter what I use the screen still flickers on my topaz but the animation looks fine on my computer.
Nexus One
here just rename if you must
Man if you perfect this that would be so tight. I will even donate.
Or like a windows logo breaking like a window and having the linux penguin piss on it. lol
Copy two files to device and use advance config - htc animation - to edit the wav and gif as your startup boot animation
P.S.
First post, If need to change something for rules please PM. Just one of those noobs. thanks couldnt post links because of a anti-spam thing.....
Thanks for the boot sound and gif. Side note I was not aware of. Can't place these on the storage card. Probably most people knew this already...this is the first time I changed my EnergyRom settings. Easy fix...threw them in the windows folder.
Wish the .gif wasn't 'squished'. Resolution on the phone probably makes a better animation quite hard?
I have been messing with cropping the video to make it look better, ill post a better gif later
Can you make a xbox360 animation. I don't know how.

thanks works for me.
It has to be on your main memory, wont work on Storage Card.
why is the xbox one 15mbs? also the psx one is awesome!!!! reminded me of when i used to love the sound of that!!!!
oh I didnt see the size of it when i made it.
I would believe cuz gifs are just frames and there are bunch more frames for the xbox360 boot
Ill see about making it smaller in the future.
I've been also trying to find ideas for more boot screens, Ive been messing with animations. Please tell me what you think would be a good idea
Did you find a better looking PSX gif?

How about some movie splash screens, like MGM or New Line or something like that, you know how the screens from the begining of a movie.
I've got a pretty simple idea for a graphic that I want in my app and artist who draws great stuff, but doesn't know about animation. I want a stork to fly across the top of my screen (slowly) an drop a blanket (implying a baby inside) that falls down the screen to land on a mans head, then the man sinks off the bottom of the screen.
Can anyone explain the basics of what I need for my app? Do I want my artist to create a gif file (is a gif file like a cartoon movie???), or is there a better way to do it?
Thanks for any help.

If you follow these guides it can give you a good understanding of how to get a custom boot animation going. In essence, you must have a bootanimation.zip file composing of a desc.txt file that tells at what resolution and frames per second to play a series of jpg images that simulates a video.
Good luck,
GP

Basically you can go for a series of Animated sprite (in png, frame-by-frame) and so basic transformation animation on them. It sounds to me that most of what you want to achieve could be done with Android's animation framework.
