Hey i have a Cingular 8125 running faria's 3.3 WM5 and its a G4 device thats unlocked via request unlocked code from cingular. I wanna change the cingular splash screen. How do I go about doing this and what are some cool splash screens?
I have 2 splash screens... when the phone initially boots up it has the cingular logo. right after that its the WM6 style Faria 3.3 splash
If you want to change your splash screens then check out this post:

Has all the steps and the tools you need to do this, and the process is very easy.
As for splash screens themselves, you'll just have to look around. I've got a number of them I've downloaded from various places. I just found a topic in the Hermes area this morning where they are doing a splash screen contest for a WM6 ROM called Black. Some of the screens are very cool (intended for the theme of the Black ROM), but then they get very graphic in that topic (you may not want to be reading that topic on your screen if your boss or co-worker walks in on you). There is 47 pages currently in the topic but I snagged a number of screens from the first 10 or so pages (before it went to very sexual screens that I have no interest in for a phone I use in business).

BTW: there are actually 3 splash screens. If I remember correctly Cingular uses the same Cingular logo one for the first two screens (so only appears as one screen). The first screen is only up for a few seconds, and then the second splash screen is the one where the IPL/SPL and other numbers appear in the upper left. The 3rd splash screen is really just a .png file in your WIndows folder (so that one is changed easily).

What do you mean by bricked? Take your battery out and leave it out for 5 mins. Then put it back in and turn the power on while holding down the camera key. DO you get to the bootloader ("rainbow") screen?
Also when you did the steps did you verify that the file sizes were all correct just like the guide says? The guide is clear that you can't have too elaborate of an image or the filesize will be too big (which could cause a brick).

No problem. Just trying to figure out if its really bricked or if its just not able to boot (two very different things).
If you haven't seen it, look at this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298613
It has steps to get into the bootloader and flashing back to an official rom or the Wizard Love rom. Has G4 specific information and links to the roms and stuff.
can we change the boot screen to an animated gif somehow?
I've tried some of the cabs on this site and other sites with no luck. I've tried putting animated.gif into the windows folder with no luck.
am I missing something?
i was able to do it
but i forgot how
i think directly in the registry i'm guessing (search for welcomehead)
i'm talking about two secondary splash screens (like in advanced config)
to change the first two splashes i've used the bootsplash kitchen
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=TitanBootsplashTutorial
but the .nb image creator doesn't support .gif files as best i can tell
sweet!!! good link gonna try this next weekend!!
too bad it does a hard reset. Gif's are listed as working so they should work (as they are the only ones that 'move'.)
its not supposed to cause a hard reset...
i used the kitchen within the last week and the first time it worked
the last time caused a hard...
i also tried animated gif and it didn't work
only non-animated for the first two....at least using this tool...
never actually seen an animated gif on the first two before...so
(i think the successful bootsplash was by using the sd card instead of the ruu)
make sure you put your (both secondary) splash images in windows directory...
helps with load time...and delay settings...
still not 100% that entering the gif in the registry is working...but i think it will
been resetting my device for a couple hours straight trying to get all the settings right...
i'll post up what results i think i figure out...lol
I used the sd card and it works to change the picture on the first and second images of the boot sequence. But no animation thus far
I've looking ever since I tried one of Ryan's light 6.5 roms. He had an animated lightning strike a tree, and it looked pretty dope!!! I think I might track him down...........
There is a utility in the PPC Kitchen that allows us to add animation to one of the start up screens. I added the Windows Vista logo with a meter below it. Works fine for a couple of seconds till the meter freezes.
whoever is cooking the roms for you must tell it NOT to skip the animation. then you can change the animation.

im not sure if this would help but i think that there was a change icon application, in the options menu i think it said bonus and when i taped it it let me change the boot screen i used the windows phone 7 gif and the windows phone png along with the vista boot sound
hope this helps if i can remember the app i will tell you but it would be better if you searched in the xda engine
Hello,
I'm getting really excited about my HTC P4350 more and more. First I wanted to throw it away but since I started tweaking now 2 months. I got a series of questions.
1) Would it be faster in speed. To native install software like advanced config etc.
2) Where can I find a series of unlock screens?
==> S2U2 "iPhone-like Unlock Screen" = NO GOOD. Makes the HTC Freak
3) Anyone got a series of keyboards to replace the stupid looking standard one. So I can just type on the screen instead of using the pen. 'I installed one previously and it went fubar when i selected it it was just a white screen with no keyboard showing and another one i installed when i pressed the keys nothing happend.
4) Also I've installed "MotoV2Wing6.5" in previous ROM's I could install instantly the "cool" black bars instead of the classic. But with this rom they won't install, any suggestions. Also the blue skin wich is used in menu's "me no like" so I was hoping that could be turned into black.
5) After booting the splash screen and the boot screen there's a white window before the phone starts. Any idea how to get rid off that.
6) Like in windows OS there is the command line : msconfig, to select start up programs is there any way of leaving out programs to get the HTC to start up quicker.
7) The bootscreen and the splash screen. Are they both necessery will the phone be faster if you leave one of them out. And how you do that.
8) I saw on a pic that someone had changed the color of the keyboard is that possible without opening the htc?
9) And one of the most important questions. The keyboard I've download a dutch keyboard fix, since I think that I have a dutch P4350 (I think) but the fn keys are still showing up ****ed (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=366756). So my keyboard is like this.

As final statement. I really support this forum, I like it very much it's kind to his users and very helpfull. I really want to stress 2 to respect the "Cooks" because what they do is Pwn Windows in everyway and they always want to build better and faster Rom's and that takes a lot of personal time. And I think what they do is really GREAT. So what I am tryin to say is.
THANKS A LOT!!! <3
Best and kind regards,

another option is something that i just started to use and love it, its called fingerboard http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=487677

I got a questions, the first screen is the splash screen or the boot screen?
Answer to 1)The ROM that you have chosen is inherintly slow because of the Moto Home stuff. They tax both the RAM and the processor terribly.
Answer to 2)Just use the lock screen that comes built in with WM6.5. It's simple and just works.
Answer to 5)That white box you see is some kind of error, re-flash to a different ROM or hard reset to make it go away.
Answer to 6)Just navigate using file explorer to ROOT\Windows\Startup and delete whatever you don't want to run at startup there. Please note that there may not be alot here, and most if not all of the HTC stuff NEEDS to run at bootup in order for your device to work.
Answer to 7)Yes, they are both neccesary. If you remove them, all you will see is a black screen for the same amount of time that you saw the splash screens. While these screens are shown, the OS is being loaded into RAM, so its a neccesary thing.
Answer to 8)No, you cannot change the color of your keyboard without taking it out of your device.
Answer to 11)PHM Registry editor. Its small and just works.
boot screen then splash screen
So, I've been searching for a few days now... in order to find a suitable SPLASH SCREEN and BOOT ANIMATION to replace the T-Mobile USA standard, "Stick Together"... and the similar animation that follows. I haven't really come across anything that has been reported to WORK PROPERLY and NOT turn the device into a fancy paperweight. I'm wondering if anyone has found an alternative set of SPLASH SCREENS and BOOT ANIMATIONS that are compatible with the T-Mobile USA model, if so... I would greatly appreciate your assistance, or at least a point in the right direction.
Now, with that said... I'm also trying to figure out if there is a REGISTRY EDIT that can be made to ENABLE the BOOT ANIMATION once more, as I have disabled that function using BsB Tweaks v1.6 - and when I tried to enable the feature again, it does NOT work, even after the obvious soft reset that follows.
If anyone has insight on this topic, please don't hesitate to offer your advice. Thank you.
i've been wondering the same thing, without any results. Also looking for decent apps for the HD2. everything looks like the old windows mobile though.
I had the same exact problem when I used BsB Tweaks. The problem is that when you try to turn it back on BsB enters the wrong filename in the registry and thus it cannot be found and loaded.
What you need to do is to use a regedit tool and go into "HKEYLM\Software\HTC\HTCAnimation" and change the value for "StartupGIF" to "\Windows\startup480-800.gif". Reboot and you should be back to the way it was.
If you want to change the animation you can put any animated 480x800.gif in "\Windows\" and point to it with the above specified registry edit.
To find animations I did a google image search for .gif files and specified the image size to be 480x800. You should find a lot. I put the original HTC quietly brilliant startup animation and a couple others and went back to the original one. BTW, you can change the shutdown animation by changing "ShutDownGIF" in the same registry location.
Good luck and let me know if you need more info.
Sorry, I forgot to mention how to change the other startup pictures.
There is basically 3 startup screens that can be changed on the TMOUS HD2 (probably also Euro/Asia version too):
#1- First static screen that shows the magenta TMO square and text
#2- Second animated screen that I explained how to change above
#3- Third static screen with the windows mobile logo.
As far as I can tell #1 (first screen) can only be changed via ROM flash.
Again, #2 explained in previous post.
To change #3 (third and last screen):
Place two identical 480x800.png files (make sure it's .png) named "xxxx.png" and "xxxx.192.png" (change xxxx to your filename) in "\windows\" and point to it by changing the registry value in "HKEYLM\Software\Microsoft\Spash Screen" change "CarrierBitmap" to your "\windows\xxxx.192.png" file and "MSBitmap" to your "\windows\xxxx.png" file.
I made my own .png that shows my contact info and increased the "CarrierTimeout" and "MSTimeout" so it would show a little longer. Long shot in getting it back if lost, but it can't hurt, and it can't easily be removed unless they know what they're doing.

Thank you very much for all of this information.
Now, I'm curious as to how I am supposed to "point" or direct said files via registry? Do I need to store the .gif and .png replacements on my SD CARD or DEVICE? And once I've edited the registry with the EXACTLY MATCHED NAMES of the replacement files; will the device permanently "look" to that directory and LOAD the images/animations from that location?
Thanks again.
Oh, and I almost forgot...
I was looking for something like this, however... I cannot just "install" these .CAB files to alter the Booting Animation, or could I?
Here's the thread that has the ideal animations:

When I say point, what I mean is that when you go into the registry key, for example "HKEYLM\Software\Microsoft\Spash Screen" and you click on "CarrierBitmap" you'll change the value to "\windows\xxxx.png" so now it's "pointing" to that file. Hope that makes sense. I'm sure it'll be clear when you go into it with your regedit software. Your basically changing that particular registry entry to look at the file you specify, like a shortcut.
All these files need to go into your "\windows\" folder on your phone, NOT your SD card.
Until you change the registry manually or by flashing a new ROM it will permanently "look" at the file you enter in the registry.

Those are great, I've used them, so I know they work.
Forget the .cab files and do it manually via the method I explained. You can right click the animation in that thread and save it and rename and use as I specified. You can also download the file you need instead of right clicking, get the .gif file not the .cab from that thread.

Thanks once more for all of the instructions.
I'm going to give this a whirl. It's my first time ever messing with such modifications. I used to create and flash alternative boot animations and splash screens on my Android devices, but this will be my "cherry popping" moment on the Windows Mobile platform. AWESOME!
I'm quite certain others will find your advice very useful as well.
You're welcome.
I would suggest anyone doing this should keep the original files as is in case you ever need to go back for whatever reason. Basically, don't delete the original files, just rename the new files and "point" to them.

Alright. Everything worked out just fine. Thanks to your detailed instructions, I managed to change absolutely everything forementioned.
This should quite literally become a STICKY POST because those instructions were very thorough and easy to understand. Anyway, thanks again... I'm finally able to enjoy powering down my device, JUST to watch it boot up again.

I think some work. The problem with some of the cabs is that they were made for the Euro/Asia HD2 and the path and files in the US HD2 is different. That's why when you turn off the animation and turn it back on in BsB it does not work.
Quick question
Excellent directions and I have now put in some really cool animated .Gifs and JPEGs however I neglected to write down the name of the original Splash screen files that were for "Carrier Bitmap" and "MS Bitmap" In case I HAD to revert.
Do you know these?
Thanks in advance.

I don't understand, can someone make a usa Tmobile HD2 cab file with the htc animation??? please? It would make my life easier!
I'd just like to replace them all with black versions because I often start my phone in low light, and the 100% default brightness is often a retina-cooking extreme.
Initial boot Black background/HTC Green logo.
Is that an option?

Fellas, please...
READ the first few posts, and you'll find every detail necessary in order to alter the animations and splash screen. After reading it, RE-READ IT!
It took me about two or three times of reading it to gain a thorough understanding of the instructions.
You don't learn to hack... you have to HACK to LEARN!
The only thing I have left to change is the initial splash on startup, and since that has to be changed via flash, does anyone have a black version with custom RUU?
The other two I have changed successfully, but that initial splash is still white.
OK, I've been searching everywhere, and coming up empty. I'm looking for the original HTC OEM boot screen that just says "HTC Touch Pro 2" or maybe "Touch Pro 2". All black background, white text. I flashed a ROM a while back and I have had its boot screen since. I don't want to have to flash an entire OEM ROM just to get it, but I will if necessary. Hoping that someone has it lying around. Thanks in advance!
Why use oem?
There are ways to change that screen to whatev you want

but if u want the oem image, im sure u can google it and use that as the .nb

try this, I got it from the Windows Mobile site.
I have a question I am finding hard to get an answer to.
There are essentially 4 boot screens on a TP 2.
The first and second (I don't think can be separated on a TP 2) Is the above splash screen with the red text, radio, etc that comes on after about 10 seconds.
Third is the Animated screen.
I can change those screens.
The 4th is ANOTHER screen that shows the ROM (at least, on my NRG MaxSense ROM).
The 4th is the one I can't find how to change.
Anyone have a link?
In the meantime, I am still searching, and if I find out, I will come back with a link.

I'm pretty sure that the screen you mention is part of the actual ROM flash. I think it's a file though that you can modify once the ROM is installed. Welcomehead possibly..?

On my Tilt 2, the last screen is simply a png called well.png.
I created an image and installed it, now all my start up and shutdown screens are custom.
Nice!
