i was looking through the windows directory and i found a few exe files not linked to in the start menu. switchusb and QCamera where the more interesting and btspy which im not sure what it is supposed to do.
usbswitch has 2 options 1 microsoft usbfn and 2 qc composite - dun, diag, nmea
reset is required to change mode.
qcamera is of course a camera app with many settings such as frame rate control and the ability to change the file type of both pictures and videos. WARNING AFTER I USED QCAMERA MY LG CAMERA APP WOULD FREEZE I HAD TO DO A RESTORE OF MY WINDOWS DIRECTORY FILES FROM AN EARLIER DATE TO USE CAMERA AGAIN.
also a gpsoneapp for gps testing if anyone is having gps problems
i also found an exe i hope can help it is called WceSetAudio.exe it has a few options that is listed in the fmradio post on lg-expo.com that i will copy paste here
handset, headset, speaker phone, TTY headset, TTY VCO, I2S full duplex, I2S RX/TX, FMradio, SpeakerVoice, HeadsetVoice, Headset Stereo speaker...,headset stereo..., headset mono speaker..., and headset mono speaker...
this reminds me of linux where i can never find the right audio out...
the ones i put ... on it is cut off and i cannot read the last word. i have not tried to change anything because this is my main or only phone and i dont have time for it to mess up on me.
maybe this can fix fm radio output.
also wifiengmenu.exe and browsermodedetec.exe says it changes browser to desktop mode but it didnt seem like it did.
i dont know if any one else has found the same programs already i just thought id let everyone know here
there was a simillar thread in the social groups. nice find on the qcamera. and the usbswitch. gonna check those out now.. thanks
i also found qtest and other test like qled...

sorry it is not qled.exe it is qtest_led_x.exe in place of x there is r,b,n,g for red, blue ,off, green and another qtest_ledtest.exe that flashes all colors.s it is with other exes such as qtest_gyro, ...vibtest, ...keytest....... they can all be accessed by going into engineer mod

I've tried the switch USB to see if it would finally let me sync my phone to PC via USB, but it did nothing. Still using bluetooth dongle to sync phone.
i saw somewhere sombody said they tried a different usb cable and their expo synced maybe you could try that.

Tried 3 different USB cables. There were only 2 or 3 times whee I was able to sync with USB after a PC reboot, once I unplugged and replugged it wouldn't work again. I've messed with this for days on 3 PC's, with different OS -XP, Vista, Win 7 64Bit all with the same results. Even a hard reset to the phone with no other apps installed.
I've seen some of the MS forums and alot of people with different devices are having the same issues with no resolve.
wish i knew a little more to help you. it seems like warraven knows what he is talking about hope he can help and you can figure it out.
As long as I can sync with BT I'll survive, but when the cooked ROMS start coming around, I'll be SOL, cause you can only flash via USB.
i had a fuze before the expo and i never plugged my fuze up to sync just did bluetooth or wifi. only time i plugged it up was to put stuff on the sd card like a rom or songs. when i flashed roms on my fuze i just did it by putting the ralphimg file on the sd card and flashed it by holding down some keys. htc phones are way better and flashing and customizing. if the expo could flash from sd ud be alright
Hi All,
Today my A500 decided to have a coffee bath and it really didn't go so well. The screen is completely dead but it does seem to be running in the background. When i plug in to my PC it connects and shows up as a device which is a good sign.
My issue is I need to get some important info off of the internal sd and although i can see the device it is not showing up as an external drive. Does anyone know of a way to force the tab to mount as an external drive or physicaly remove the internal storage?
Thanks in advance

Yeah, you cooked your digitizer.
Well, somewhere on XDA, there is an app that will act as a display on your pc. I know it is somewhere, but I really don't know what the name is. You're gonna have to do some searching. Via Google and XDA.
Also, you have probably USB, so you can use a mouse.

Did you try plugging into hdmi and see if it will output to TV or monitor? To see if it will respond to a usb mouse.

Now see, I never thought of using the HDMI. (shows you how much I use HDMI)
However, might not going to work well, if you have to move files to the PC. I wonder if you connect all of it, if it will still function.

thanks guys
I'll try the HDMI thing today and let you all know

So I tried the HDMI to the tv and no luck.
When I plug into the PC it pops up with the what do you want to do dialogue. If I say browse device it opens up windows explorer and says there is nothing on the device. Is there a way I can access the internal file system?

Not without having Root access.
Success
Hi All,
Just letting you know that I found a solution. After spending somewhere close to a billion hours trying to find a way to access the file system I came across a really cool program called Android Commander. It let me access everything on the internal memory and copy everything I needed to my PC. It's free and easy to use.

Hello, I've installed the cm-10.1.2-steelhead.zip on my Q and there is a problem with the video output for my TV. The interesting is that ClockworkMod works fine on that TV, only the CM itself has no video output.
I've tested on a different Tv and CM is working fine. How do I change the default video output of the CM to the same as the ClockworkMod?
Do I need to change the kernel image or just change some option would be ok?
Thanks
Hi! I have the same issue. My Q is working with the factory image, but CM productes an "invalid data" error on my TV. I know that the factory image uses 720p, and CM outputs 1080p, but my TV should be able to handle it.
Could be that there is no audio feed from clockwork, and you are getting too much loss with the cable you are using. Had that issue in the beginning. Try using the shortest possible cable arrangement and see if you get success there. You are sure you're making it all the way into cm right?

Hi! Thanks for your answer
I'm not sure about the cable. I have been using the one came with the device. It's possible that it's not working properly, I have to buy a replacement to find it out.
Until that I got cuirous. You said that "Could be that there is no audio feed from clockwork". Are you suggesting that the recovery only works for me because it sends less data (since there is no audio output)? I quickly downloaded a different CM11 image that uses analog audio output instead of HDMI to see if it works. Unfortunately it wasn't successful. It still doesn't work
I have a theory. What if CMAs far as I know the factory rom uses 720p output. I'm guessing then that it's a fixed resolution, there is no autodetection involved. However CM tries to figure out which resolution to use. What if this fails for some reason, and tries to switch to a resolution not supported by my TV? I guess it could be tested by making CM use a specific resolution. I just don't know how.
Does anyone know how to set a fixed resolution instead of letting CM to figure it out? I have access to the device via ADB (through recovery) and I can modify the kernel parameters in the boot image, but I'm just not sure what to modify exactly.
Hello
Here's a bump
So, my Nexus Q is not working with my HDTV, but it works well if I plug it in a HDMI display. My TV says "Invalid Format". I brought another hdmi cable to test, no luck.
It's only a problem if I'm using CM (every version I could find fails), the stock rom works fine with my TV (but the stock rom is not really useful)
Any ideas? I have a completely capable device to be my media center, and I don't know how to make it work.

I was able to enable root shell using another HDMI display and connected on my TV, but the wm tool (adb shell wm) that changes the resolution does not modify anything, it actually keep the output on "not supported" even on small resolution (640x480) and low pixel density.
Hello everyone !
If I understood well, it's possible to install Android apps on a Nook Touch ?
If yes is it possible for someone who has a Nook Touch to try this app : http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/paid-software/android-4-1-headunit-android-auto-t3125252
It's an app to connect a Android phone using "Android Auto" to a tablet. I really want to know if this is working as the EINK displays are way better to put in a car (for the sun) and we don't need a high refresh rate !

Nope. It says it's for Android 4.1+
The NST runs 2.1
Too bad .
Thanks.
Of course the new Nook Glow Plus would probably work, it's 4.4.2
It's a quicker display than the old Nook and at 300 DPI, sharper too.
Also, the light is pretty good.
That's good to know !
Does someone has it and can test this app ?

It works. Well, it installs and give a nasty error message about not supporting USB Host Mode (Renate can probably help understand what that all means). Attached is a screenshot...
Not to dissuade you from your pursuit of an eink unit for the car,
but the Nexus 7 2013 is a pretty good device, nice car size,
good USB host working already, Marshmallow (6.0) and you can find them new for $150.
In any case, I'm certainly interested in getting USB host working on the NGP.

I already tried tablets in my car but same problem with any phone : the sun .
I have a cab, so I'm looking for a screen which can be used if there is a lot of light ! (and I also like to play with new things ...)
It's funny, I've never had any dealings with the USB API in Android.
I've just used the underlying Linux layer.
I wonder if there are cases where there is actual USB host mode, but the Android API was never implemented correctly?
The simplest test for basic host connectivity is connecting an OTG adapter and a regular USB keyboard.
The shift lock key should turn the shift LED on and off.
What does the headunit software want to talk to over USB?
Could it be done over a serial link instead?

Ah sorry I did not understand your question.
For this you need to plug a smartphone (android 5 at least).
It transforms the tablet in an Android Auto display (like a radio).
But if you have technicals questions about the app you should see with the developper, I'm only a single user .
Oh, I'm a little slow on the uptake.
The idea is to just mirror the display on your separate mobile phone?
I looked a bit more into the USB host mode.
I could be wrong, but it seems that the PCB is not even populated to connect the ID pin on the USB connector.
Of course there must be some software hack to force it into host mode.

I just installed android tv 9 on my old laptop and I got the terminal for like 3-4 seconds on my tv but it won't work.Any help??
Ok so now I fixed the problem and my laptop display was using LVDS instead of eDP.So I changed the first line of code on laptop mode and changed it like this
video=LVDS-1:d -- this line will disable the primary laptop screen (if it doesn't work try eDP instead of LVDS)
video=HDMI-A-1:e -- this line will enable hdmi video output
Make sure you put :d for disable and :e for enable
Hope this helped you
I will write soon about how I made my own diy android tv.
