Joying Head Unit, Android 6.01, GPS Mix and Poweramp - Android Head-Units

Hi All
Wondering if someone can point me in the right direction.
Recently received my Joying Head Unit back from China as I had the black screen issue. Even though the unit now works and the screen is displayed, part of the Touchscreen doesn't recognize when you touch it (Oh well, back tos peaking to Candy at Joying to see what can be done)
Anyways, the issue I am having is for some odd reason, when I am using Poweramp and Waze together, Whenver I get a turn by turn direction from Waze, any music that is playing via Poweramp goes completely silent, instead of reducing the volume of the audio track.
Previously I could play Music and when a direction came via Waze it would reduce the music volume, give the direction, and then raise the music volume back up.
But for some odd reason now, its not doing it.
I've checked the 'Car Settings' option on the Joying Head Unit and can confirm that GPS Mix is On and my Navi App os set to Waze.
Is there another setting that I am missing here? How do i get it to go back to how it was?
Thanks in Advance

there is another option in Car settings, smth like "Sound Mixing Scale", that defines, how much attenuation should be applied to the music volume during navi sounds.. Try to play with this setting

I'll try that setting but I don't think its that.
Will report back in a bit

adjusting Sound Mixing Scale hasn't fixed the issue

as i don't use PowerAmp, i can't know what settings it has. Can you try to reproduce it with other music player (it is always good to test with built-in player) ?

Waze has the option to "play to phone speaker" or something alike. It changes the behavior of Waze with regard to other media output. Didi you try that setting?

Google Maps navigation wont speak through car speakers

So today I needed to use google maps to navigate to an address, so like i used to on my Incredible, I put in the address, selected navigate and everything was good until I came to my first turn, Pandora muted and I heard the voice turn direction, but it was not through my car's speakers. I checked that Navigation wasn't muted then I checked that the media volume was turned all the way up and it was. So what's the deal, is there a setting I'm missing or something, or is the Fascinate's only capability to play music through the headphone jack? I know you can't have a phone conversation with the phone pluged into an aux jack in a car as it keeps the mic on the phone mute, but it won't play nav directions through the head phone jack either?
This is a known issue. It is supposed to be fixed with 2.2. I hope.
There were a couple of devs working on a fix, but nothing that works yet.
I had voice prompts through my car stereo using Google navigation this past weekend while using the stock music player. Didn't try it with Pandora.
I had to turn the phone's media volume way down and crack the navigation audio all the way up, then crack my car stereo as the navigation volume is an order of magnitude softer than the media volume on the Fascinate (which is a known bug that is hopefully going to be fixed).

I had the same issue, then found a fix for it this morning. I posted it here:
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/sa...s/85988-navigation-volume-low.html#post957765
As far as being able to hear the navigation through your speakers, it should work. Mine has worked fine since the beginning. I only had an issue with the volume being really low. Perhaps that is what you are seeing. Sometimes the navigation volume would be so low that I would hear the music turn down for the directions, but I didn't hear any directions until I turned up my radio to max.
I reflashed the rom I was using and that seems to have cleared the issue up. Thanks for the sound fix SnrSuave.

[REQUEST $$$] Change media volume while docked and connected to car stereo via BT

$60 goes to the person who finds a way to get this working!
This is a random issue that I've been having that's driving me nuts. I have the N1 car dock along with a Clarion CZ500 BT car stereo and everything is working fine... BUT I cannot change the media volume over BT while docked.
Why do I need to? Because my call volume is terribly low and I'm constantly changing volume levels on my car stereo and occasionally blowing out my ear drums when I forget to lower it as the call is ending and the music starts up again automatically.
If I had access to change the media volume, I could set the BT media volume at a comfortable level (with Tasker's help obviously ) when the phone is docked and not have to ever adjust my volume!
I'm wondering if this is actually a PowerAMP issue, but I can't seem to test the issue properly because I can't find a music player with a volume control slider.
BTW, I know that this is a docking issue because when I'm simply connected over BT without being docked the media volume changes just fine.
I'm running CM7 nightlies for the record.
Thanks!
PowerAmp seems to have some minor issues with bluetooth. Or it might be the combo of that and CM7 as it does odd things at times for me.
Does your headset try to tell the phone how to change volume, or are you doing it from the volume control on the side of the dock? I find that the built-in music app lets me change the volume just fine from the buttons but that poweramp seems to be a bit temperamental about it. (Although there was an update today that may have fixed it, I haven't checked yet).
My car stereo doesn't communicate the volume change to my device, it just adjusts the stereo volume.
I'm not controlling the volume from the physical buttons because the only ones accessible are those on the dock and those aren't connected when you're not connected to the dock via BT. I'm controlling the volume using the volume slider on PowerAMP.
As I change the volume using the PowerAMP slider, I see the display for "Media volume playing over Bluetooth" and the volume bar changes but it doesn't affect the volume. The only time the sound gets affected is when I get to 0 in which case it mutes.
No one has any other ideas???
Mine just works with my Sony XAV-70bt. I set the volumes once, and it just keeps them working. So my suggestion, sell Clarion, buy Sony. Can i have my $25?
But seriously, a lot of these head units have a separate builtin volume for the handset profile vs an a2dp. Mine has a phone call volume, then a separate BT Audio volume. You might run through your settings, find a different media player, or try another rom/kernel. Are you connected via physical 3.5mm cable from the Car dock to your Clarion, or using a bluetooth connection to it?
BT. There are no volume settings that I can find for the specific profiles.

So you want to be able to control phone volume from the head unit? I don't believe this is possible at this point. I suppose someone could build an interface using the AVRCP profile that would control volume. In theory it's possible.

I just want to be able to modify the media volume when I'm docked and connected via BT to the stereo. It seems as if the OS blocks a volume change when docked and connected to an external BT and I simply want to override that "feature".
As I stated above, if I'm NOT docked but still connected to the stereo via BT, the volume can be changed.
I battled the same issue for a couple of months. Solution: Tasker on the android market.
I have it set that when I dock my phone the media and in-call volume both max out. As soon as I un-dock it everything returns to the previous levels.
It's even cheaper than your $25 bounty
edit: just saw your tasker comment...so do you have it installed? or is it still not enough workaround for you? I have my N1 connecting to the bluetooth on the dock for calls, but i also run a 3.5 line-out into the aux port on my radio for music
Ya it's installed. But I'm running through BT. That's where the problem originates.
Maybe try contacting the PowerAmp dev or leaving a message on the forum on his site?
My BT head unit is in the mail so if you haven't got a solution by the weekend I'll be wanting to try the same combination so I'll check it out then.

I don't think it's a PowerAMP issue. I mean, I get the volume dialog and it changes as I "turn the knob".
Does anyone know of another music player that has a volume slider?
So NO ONE knows of a music player with a volume slider other than PowerAMP? I would like to see if PowerAMP is the culprit.
Obligatory bump.
Alright, I'll pay $40. Someone please!
Dropping too low!
Geez, patience dude. It's not that critical.
To me it is. And as soon as it's off the first page it's lost for good.
It's just frustrating that there are so many good devs here and no one wants to lend a serious hand.
Best of luck to you. I discovered that the volume is automatically reset when the phone is in the dock, regardless of what you set it to manually (even if you change it while it is in the dock, it immediately changes itself back). What you might need to be looking for is a modification of either the car home app, or of whatever protocols are responsible for the volume change.

GPS Audio through bluetooth

I use a the Satechi Soundfly BT Ultimate Bluetooth Car FM Transmitter to stream music in my car. It works well for music but when I use google nav while playing music and when it has to say a direction, it will turn the music down and say the direction but the volume is VERY low....I cant even hear what its saying. The navigation volume is turned all the way up.
I've noticed the same problem when I used to have my Nexus S. I've even tried a different bluetooth fm transmitter.
Anyone else run into this problem? Any fixes?
I know this sounds stupid, but have you tried upping the volume while in navigation? The meter shows me "navigation volume" which seems to be a different category.
My other suggestion would be to download 'AudioManager' from the Market to see where your individual sound levels are at.
good luck!

Yeah I have tried turning the volume up while in Nav. The navigation volume is turned all the way up. I'll try to download audio manager and see if I can check the volume levels.

Head Unit radio sound perfect but MP3 & video are noisy

Dear friends, i've just install a new android head unit to my car, the problem that i still can't understand is that the music sound good each morning, but after that the sound get noisy for mp3 & video files, (from the unit, or usb or internet) only the radio music keep the good sound.
This morning i 've disconnect the head unit and test it with a separate speaker and again same problem, radio okey but mp3 & videos are noisy, which mean this is head unit issue.
please if any one can help do not hesitate,
Thank you
3 possibilities:
- go to factory settings and check individual source audio volume
- try with another music player (poweramp has a gain knob, you can turn that down). I had this issue with poweramp that sounded distorted, while default music player was fine. Turned down the "vol" knob a bit in EQ/Vol settings and it was fine.
- change unit

Thanks zerozoneice, well, i've upgrade my android to version 6 and problem of sound still exist in addition to SMS shown on the screen said ; ' UI & MCU does not match '
I ve tried other media reader but no change.
Now supplier told me that this is a hardware problem and that he will send me a mother board because he though that actual one may be damaged.
could this problem of sound be a mother board issue ?

Head unit audio problem

Hi, I just got a android head unit and can't figure if it's something wrong or just a setting I can't find.
When I have an audio app running, like radio or music, and then start a nav app(specifically OSAMD) everything is fine. The music plays while nav is working. The problem is when the nav app interupts the audio with voice alerts, the music audio never comes back on. Have to go to the music app and audio comes back the switch back to the nav app. On next alert it does it all over again.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks
Hi again,
Can no one help with this?
Nobody else have this problem?
what's the Unit, What's the Nav app and are you using Android Auto or Carplay or Native App? If this is AA/CP this is normal when using Native Music. If this is all Native I suggest to try switching to a different Nav App and see if it makes a difference.
I can tell you on mine Waze and Goggle Maps will properly interrupt then return to music with both spotify and VLC.
AA/CP does exactly what you described, unless you play music through AA/CP.
This is the first one I have had. It's from amazon the brand says Podofo. It's android 9.1
I'm using Osamd navagation app. They say the app should return the music but it does not. Not sure what AA/CP is, maybe android auto. I'm not using that just the built in launcher and tried a couple other launchers with no luck. I'll try google or waze and see if they are any different.
