So today I needed to use google maps to navigate to an address, so like i used to on my Incredible, I put in the address, selected navigate and everything was good until I came to my first turn, Pandora muted and I heard the voice turn direction, but it was not through my car's speakers. I checked that Navigation wasn't muted then I checked that the media volume was turned all the way up and it was. So what's the deal, is there a setting I'm missing or something, or is the Fascinate's only capability to play music through the headphone jack? I know you can't have a phone conversation with the phone pluged into an aux jack in a car as it keeps the mic on the phone mute, but it won't play nav directions through the head phone jack either?
This is a known issue. It is supposed to be fixed with 2.2. I hope.
There were a couple of devs working on a fix, but nothing that works yet.
I had voice prompts through my car stereo using Google navigation this past weekend while using the stock music player. Didn't try it with Pandora.
I had to turn the phone's media volume way down and crack the navigation audio all the way up, then crack my car stereo as the navigation volume is an order of magnitude softer than the media volume on the Fascinate (which is a known bug that is hopefully going to be fixed).

I had the same issue, then found a fix for it this morning. I posted it here:
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/sa...s/85988-navigation-volume-low.html#post957765
As far as being able to hear the navigation through your speakers, it should work. Mine has worked fine since the beginning. I only had an issue with the volume being really low. Perhaps that is what you are seeing. Sometimes the navigation volume would be so low that I would hear the music turn down for the directions, but I didn't hear any directions until I turned up my radio to max.
I reflashed the rom I was using and that seems to have cleared the issue up. Thanks for the sound fix SnrSuave.

Hi guys, I have noticed that the DHD has some issues with audio playing. I have noticed that sometimes, when using the HTC Music app and switching sound enhancements the app sometimes crashes, or audio stops completely forcing me to restart the device.
Also yesterday I was out driving for about 4 hours. I had Car Tunes app playing music and CoPilot Live 8 running for my SatNav, with the DHD plugged into my car audio using phono. I noticed that after unplugging and plugging in the audio cable, the audio would become very erratic. Car Tunes would always play audio full volume, but CoPilot (voice) would vary from being almost inaudible to full volume. This just seemed to happen randomly and would correct itself every now and again, then 'break' then 'fix' over and over.
On my way home yesterday the audio in both CoPilot and Car Tunes stopped working while plugged into phono. Audio is perfect without phono, but when phono is plugged in no audio can be heard. This is pretty strange as system sounds screen lock, volume adjust tone, etc. all work fine with phono plugged in.
I have noticed the sound enhancements crash bug with my 2 previous DHD devices as well as this one. One thing I have done to this is S-Off and BUZZ oc-uv 1.28 kernel.
Recap:
Yesterday while plugging phono in and out over and over (using satnav and leaving/re-entering car) audio would randomly become high/low in CoPilot only. Testing other music apps (to find satnav audio problem) found that Music app crashes/kills all audio/causes reboot of device when activating/chaing sound enhancement.
And now...
Phono out
- all sound works
Phono in
- no music audio (any app)
- no video audio (any app)
- no apps sound (Angry Birds, NFS game, etc)
- CoPilot voice OK
- system sounds OK
- if audio is playing before phono, when phono plugged in audio can be heard for split second
Has anybody else had issues like these? It doesnt seem to be a broken phono jack as some audio does come through it. I'm not up to speed with Android enough to know what handles different types of audio, or what could be the issue.
Does nobody else have any issue like this?
Could anybody who is up to speed with Android advise if this would be a corrupted system file of some description?
Well I didn't read all, but I think something is wrong when CoPilot is running...
On another day I was driving and playing music at same time, using the headset out to pluggin to my car. I needed to use GPS and start CoPilot. Selected a route and when the voice needed to say something the music simply was muted (or paused) ...
I didn't try too much cause CoPilot start to freeze my device and eventually I had to reset the phone with much difficulty...
Probably CoPilot is the culprit of all this
I have to try another gps program. Going to test Ndrive.
I miss so much iGO (it's not on sale for general users) and TomTom (not at all)
OK so another update on this.
Today I was out on another 5 hour journey and had CoPilot operating perfectly all day through my car audio (using phono). After around 3.5hrs of driving I got held up in very heavy traffic and was pretty much stationery so I decided to put on Youtube to pass the time with a few quick videos and noticed no audio was coming from it either so I used the volume buttons to make sure audio was at full.......turns out it was all the way down to mute!! This shouldnt have been as I always have youtube (and media volume in general) up to full. So I turn it up and it worked perfectly again. So I thought I would try my luck and test music....it was also now working flawlessly!!
This is really peculiar as I know I checked the volume of Car Tunes, HTC Music and Rockplayer numerous times each, before and after device reboots the other day when it wasnt working. It seems that all of a sudden the audio is now working again through phono, without any device reboots or reconfiguration of any kind.
One thing though.........I'm now back to having the high music / low CoPilot voice issue again.
Perhaps this may be some sort of CoPilot issue affecting audio on Android ?
Would love to hear some feedback or suggestions on this one lol
$60 goes to the person who finds a way to get this working!
This is a random issue that I've been having that's driving me nuts. I have the N1 car dock along with a Clarion CZ500 BT car stereo and everything is working fine... BUT I cannot change the media volume over BT while docked.
Why do I need to? Because my call volume is terribly low and I'm constantly changing volume levels on my car stereo and occasionally blowing out my ear drums when I forget to lower it as the call is ending and the music starts up again automatically.
If I had access to change the media volume, I could set the BT media volume at a comfortable level (with Tasker's help obviously ) when the phone is docked and not have to ever adjust my volume!
I'm wondering if this is actually a PowerAMP issue, but I can't seem to test the issue properly because I can't find a music player with a volume control slider.
BTW, I know that this is a docking issue because when I'm simply connected over BT without being docked the media volume changes just fine.
I'm running CM7 nightlies for the record.
Thanks!
PowerAmp seems to have some minor issues with bluetooth. Or it might be the combo of that and CM7 as it does odd things at times for me.
Does your headset try to tell the phone how to change volume, or are you doing it from the volume control on the side of the dock? I find that the built-in music app lets me change the volume just fine from the buttons but that poweramp seems to be a bit temperamental about it. (Although there was an update today that may have fixed it, I haven't checked yet).
My car stereo doesn't communicate the volume change to my device, it just adjusts the stereo volume.
I'm not controlling the volume from the physical buttons because the only ones accessible are those on the dock and those aren't connected when you're not connected to the dock via BT. I'm controlling the volume using the volume slider on PowerAMP.
As I change the volume using the PowerAMP slider, I see the display for "Media volume playing over Bluetooth" and the volume bar changes but it doesn't affect the volume. The only time the sound gets affected is when I get to 0 in which case it mutes.
No one has any other ideas???
Mine just works with my Sony XAV-70bt. I set the volumes once, and it just keeps them working. So my suggestion, sell Clarion, buy Sony. Can i have my $25?
But seriously, a lot of these head units have a separate builtin volume for the handset profile vs an a2dp. Mine has a phone call volume, then a separate BT Audio volume. You might run through your settings, find a different media player, or try another rom/kernel. Are you connected via physical 3.5mm cable from the Car dock to your Clarion, or using a bluetooth connection to it?
BT. There are no volume settings that I can find for the specific profiles.

So you want to be able to control phone volume from the head unit? I don't believe this is possible at this point. I suppose someone could build an interface using the AVRCP profile that would control volume. In theory it's possible.

I just want to be able to modify the media volume when I'm docked and connected via BT to the stereo. It seems as if the OS blocks a volume change when docked and connected to an external BT and I simply want to override that "feature".
As I stated above, if I'm NOT docked but still connected to the stereo via BT, the volume can be changed.
I battled the same issue for a couple of months. Solution: Tasker on the android market.
I have it set that when I dock my phone the media and in-call volume both max out. As soon as I un-dock it everything returns to the previous levels.
It's even cheaper than your $25 bounty
edit: just saw your tasker comment...so do you have it installed? or is it still not enough workaround for you? I have my N1 connecting to the bluetooth on the dock for calls, but i also run a 3.5 line-out into the aux port on my radio for music
Ya it's installed. But I'm running through BT. That's where the problem originates.
Maybe try contacting the PowerAmp dev or leaving a message on the forum on his site?
My BT head unit is in the mail so if you haven't got a solution by the weekend I'll be wanting to try the same combination so I'll check it out then.

I don't think it's a PowerAMP issue. I mean, I get the volume dialog and it changes as I "turn the knob".
Does anyone know of another music player that has a volume slider?
So NO ONE knows of a music player with a volume slider other than PowerAMP? I would like to see if PowerAMP is the culprit.
Obligatory bump.
Alright, I'll pay $40. Someone please!
Dropping too low!
Geez, patience dude. It's not that critical.
To me it is. And as soon as it's off the first page it's lost for good.
It's just frustrating that there are so many good devs here and no one wants to lend a serious hand.
Best of luck to you. I discovered that the volume is automatically reset when the phone is in the dock, regardless of what you set it to manually (even if you change it while it is in the dock, it immediately changes itself back). What you might need to be looking for is a modification of either the car home app, or of whatever protocols are responsible for the volume change.

That's what I'm willing to pay for.
Is there a universal volume booster yet? I dont have a use for the ones that only work in one weird music app, I need one that works for everything because I use BeyondPod for podcasts and can barely hear anyone talking, I have to turn my car's volume to 90% which sounds like crap and has too much hiss (not to mention I switched to radio forgetting to turn the volume down and almost blew the speakers). The only apps I use are PlayerPro and BeyondPod, sometimes I'll use youtube for a song, very rarely I will use Google Music. Im sick of these damn Android phones and their useless AUX volume, I was able to get a little more volume with Voodoo sound on my last phone but this phone is going to drive me back to my old ipod.

Only seems to work with 2.3 and 4.0 devices, he hasnt updated it in ages
I am having an issue with Bluetooth, crackling, and the volume controls not working. It happened before I unlocked and rooted and thought it might be an area I was going through. However, today I was driving down the road and received a business call. The caller's voice kept crackling and popping like crazy. It would start, stop then start again. I will have to say it was driving me nuts and really hurt my ears. My G2 had no issues like this. This is going through my stereo in my truck.
The phone was sitting in a generic holder attached through a suction cup on my windshield. I tried to turn the volume down on the phone and nothing happened. I tried turning it up and nothing happened. It seems there is no control with the volume rockers. Has anyone else had this issue? I really want this phone to work out as I ordered all my phone and accessories through Amazon at the same time. This will be a real deal breaker for me if it can't be fixed as I use Bluetooth exclusively when I am on the road.
Update: I turned the bluetooth off and back on then went for a ride and talked with my wife. It only popped and cracked 1 time. The volume control still would not work. I had to do all the controlling through my stereo. The volume control works when playing music through my Bose Soundlink but not when connected in my vehicle. That seems rather strange.
Volume control doesn't work with all Bluetooth devices from what ive discovered. I have not had issues with popping to my beats Bluetooth headphones and volume control works

I can't say if I ever had to reach for my phones volume control on my lg, however I never had the popping I am getting with this phone. The X seems to have some temperamental issues. I'm just trying to figure out if these issues are correctable with updates or if they are flaws that can't be fixed. I want to make sure I don't have a defective device. I really like many facets of the phone.

I had a 40 minute phone call this morning on Bluetooth today. The other person's voice kept changing volumes. It was like the phone was trying to adjust the volume constantly. I had a little popping when the volume would go to loud but not at lower volumes. Is there anyway to set Bluetooth volumes at one level and leave it? I am rooted so I can modify a file if needed.

So I noticed too that my bluetooth seemed extremely bork. I use a Vizio S4251W soundbar and my music has never skipped on any phone until this phone. It started fine then once lyrics popped in it started skipping. I was like wtf? Never happened so I restarted the sound bar. Still happened. Rebooted phone, same thing. Then I started jamming Rush's A Farewell to Kings album and it TOO skipped! I was trying to listen to music while I was cleaning dishes for the girly and then I stumbled upon something...
I accidentally turned the bluetooth media volume down and noticed it started skipping less. Then I turned it down another notch and it stopped skipping entirely...
I then turnes the SOUNDBAR volume up a little to compensate and noticed that the phone put at FULL volume on bluetooth then MINUS 5 down was the SAME "volume" through the soundbar as my Galaxy S3 at FULL bluetooth volume when I connected it right after.
Is the Nexus 6P bluetooth just pushing sound beyond the standard volume and causing it to break up? Its like pushing too many watts through a speaker that cant handle it. They pop. I also noticed my phone was warm while using bluetooth. My 6P has never gotten warm.
So again the steps are, connect to bluetooth "stereo whatever you have", start music, turn volume on phone allll the way up, then back it down 5 notches and see if it skips.
Let me know what happens!
My music is not skipping but my jabra Bluetooth unit keeps on turning off BT. Not sure if it's my jabra unit or the phone BT. I've used other Bluetooth devices with my phone but nothing else turns off. I'm hoping it's the jabra.

Have you got Google Now set up to be able to be called from any screen? This is known to cause similar issues.
