Hey, my S8 is currently running a custom rom and works perfectly fine..however I want to reset my phone back to its original state so I can update to oreo then root my phone again.
Would it be safe to just goto settings and select factory reset as I don't have access to twrp anymore or any root apps or would I need to use odin and flash a stock image?
Thanks for your time!

In according @_alexndr information about immposibility come back to XXUEND3 stock rom if you have XXUFN modem i have a question.
If i have a bootloop I have option to flash stock rom but i don't want beacuse i will loose opportunity to root again with towelroot.
So i can go to stock recovery and wipe data and cache and do factory reset, my question is: will this always help with every bootloops?
Is sometimes happen bootloop that help only flash stock rom?

not all the times AFAIK.
tried before when testing to downgrade from ND3 to NC2, bootloop, factory reset. go through boot... but all freeze and FC
hehehe.
if you have updated the bootloader, there's no way to go back to any older firmware than your bootloader.
But I didn't upgrade bootloader, only modem and now I don't have come back to old base...
Downloaded TWRP manager app and i had me rebooted into a non existent recovery?
Now my phone boots up to a black screen with every app I had on it coming up saying "has stopped working".
I can access download mode and system recovery mode, i have tried clearing cache partition with no luck.
Does anyone know a way I can fix this without a factory reset? (also I'm assuming a factory reset deletes phones numbers too?)
PC does not recognize the phone anymore.
Rooted with Odin cf auto root
lollipop 5.0.1
Samsung galaxy s4 SGH-i337
I'm new to this so any help is much appreciated.
You cannot flash TWRP to an AT&T s4 with a locked bootloader. You'll have to restore the phone to its stock condition. This may result in the loss of data.

It appears that TWRP manager download and installed the TWRP custom recovery on the phone with locked bootloader which caused the system instability.
You mentioned that you can access to the system recovery mode so you still have your stock recovery.
If you have not backup your contacts, there is no way you can restore the contact phone numbers.
At least, you need to do the factory reset to see whether you can revive your phone.
If not you need to flash the firmware via odin as audit13 said.

Thanks for the replies guys, I did a factory reset and now seems its back to normal. Luckily I saved 90% of my contacts on my SIM which I pulled to do the reset.
Greetings,
I tried to downgrade from Nougat to Marshmallow. If I install stock Nougat ROM via Odin it works. As soon as I install TWRP Recovery and lets say "KryxxOS" it just dont boot. No animated samsung logo just the first static logo and no progress.
If I flash a Nougat based ROM it boots perfectly again.
Anyone might help me there? Am I missing something that I cant downgrade ?
Thanks!
Robin
you can downgrade to Marshmellow.
First back uip your phone as you will lose everything on your phone to downgrade.
using TWRP, go into wipe - advanced and select all the partitions except microsd card.swipe to wipe.
It will delete all the operating system including bootloader and mode. Your phone will have no operating system and will just bootloop if you try to use it.
Then boot into download mode and flash your desired marshmellow rom.
Let odin reboot the phone and you should have a working marshmellow rom on your phone.
You will then need reload all your programs including TWRP.
Make sure that this what you want to do as this advise only and i take no responsibility if you decide to do it.

what custom rtom are you trying to install and did you follow the rom maker instructions exactly.
All you may need to do after flash is do a simple data wipe or cache cleaning to allow the custom rom to work.
I have a Moto X Style XT1572 Indian version. I updated it to stock Nougat 7.0 via OTA when it was rolled out in India. Later in January I unlocked the bootloader and installed unofficial TWRP recovery for flashing custom ROMs. I did take a full backup of stock ROM immediately when I installed the recovery. Since then I'm using custom ROMs built for Nougat modem.
At present, how can I go back to stock Nougat? I did do a full wipe (except internal memory) and tried to restore the stock Nougat backup which I took in January. The backup always gets successfully restored. However, when the phone boots up completely and reaches the language selection screen(the first screen when the phone boots up), the phone reboots and goes into a bootloop just displaying the bootloader unlocked screen. The only option I have then is to flash any custom ROM again and they do work perfectly. So what must be restricting the stock backup to boot? Also, is there any other way to go back to stock Nougat?
anyone, please?

This thread looks like it has the nougat full firmware package for your phone. Try fastboot flashing all of it: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-style/general/xt1572firmwareclarkretasiaindiads7-t3735257
If that doesn't work out, here's another trick I've seen work on occasion. Restore your TWRP backup, but do not reboot into it. After restoring the backup, use TWRP to flash stock recovery, then reboot to recovery and do a factory reset with the stock recovery. Then reboot into the stock rom. That can clear up some internal storage problems that hang things up. There are other ways to do it, but this is easiest.

I'll give a try to the fastboot version.
So I have TMobile Edge+ with TWRP and I was trying to Root with installing SuperSU. The bad news it is goes into reboot loop. The good news is I still
can access TWRP. I have tried wiping cache and do factory reset but nothing works. Any ideas of how I can get my phone back working?
Thanks
Mike
Flash stock rom
restore your phone by flashing the latest stock rom firmware using Odin. if you want to re root, flash twrp using odin after seting up your phone, then flash MAGISK using twrp recovery. dont use SuperSu
