So after a week of just bootloop, black screen of death and hard reset my rooted s5 suddenly open again.
Now that its open again what can I do to fix this? Cause im afraid that if i'll restart my phone i will get stuck in the bootlooop.
Suggestions?
Just to give you an update my s5 has been rooted for the past 2 years ...its just now that it got stuck in the bootloop.. im not really sure what caused this cause havent installed any apps that could affect the system...
Any ideas how can I fix it while its working again?
Would help if you gave us the model S5 it is, which firmware it's running, recovery etc?

Why don't you want to reflash? If you're rooted you should have backups.
Ok I think I missed that part... ok so if I flash, everthing will be wiped out right?

No it won't, and for a proper backup you need TWRP recovery
If your phone is having problems like it is, you very likely need to flash
Just flash the stock ROM over the top and your apps and data will remain
But backup photos and important files first by connecting the phone to USB and copying to PC
Forget about apps, you can reinstall them if something goes wrong
Ok thanks im starting to understand it now.. i just need to confirm a few things before i start doing it...i have watched a few vids and ok i think i missed installing a custom recovery... ill install it later and go with cwm...
Flashing the stock.. means getting my firmware(which has the size of 1gig+) in sammobile ang flashing it using odin right?

Because you're getting bootloops, I suggested factory reset too, that will wipe the device, the flash won't, the reset will
I assume here's the steps that i need to take
1. Back up through cwm
2. Flash stock rom through odin
3. Clear dalv cache
4. Factory reset through recovery or from the homescreen setting?(will this removed supersu?)
6. Root device again
5. Restore back backup from cwm recovery?
Better method:
Flash TWRP 3.0.2.0 (Much more powerful recovery)
Make full Nandroid backup in TWRP
Wipe everything apart from Internal and External storage
Boot into Download Mode
Flash stock ROM with ODIN 3.10.7
Reboot
Now boot back into download mode
Flash TWRP 3.0.2.0 again
Boot into TWRP
Flash systemless SuperSU 2.72 beta or whichever is the latest beta atm
Don't restore your backup or you could end up with the same problems as before, I recommend using TiBu to restore your apps and data from the backup you made in TWRP

I have tried to flash twrp on my galaxy s5 (SM-G900V) and it did not work I am kinda stuck in the same problem. But I hit softbrick. Can you take a look at my post also?

I bought this phone used and the person who had it before me it rooted and installed some of different ROMs on it. After getting my used moto x pure 2015 running android 6.0. I booted it up and tested all the functions (including downloading a few apps) Wi-Fi, camera, audio/charging jacks ext. Everything worked fine. So did normal factory reset (not using TWRP) just to make sure everything was clean before using it as my daily. Then, (BUM BUM BUM!) when I tried to start downloading all my apps. None of them would download even though the Wi-Fi was working. Error 492 I think.
I started trying custom ROMs because I was having two big issues (apps not downloading and incoming call not bringing up accept/decline screen) with my stock rom. and wanted to fix those issues with a fresh stock image.
This is all new to me and has not been as easy as anticipated. If anyone knows a clean factory image I could flash or a fail proof fix to error 492 that would be helpful. I really just want to return to fully working Motorola stock android, but the files I have used haven’t fixed the issue. I have searched for a factory image without finding one…

Install stock firmware via fastboot... if that dont fix the issue, install TWRP make a full wipe, FULL, and install the stock firmware again, eventualy that sould fix the issue.

I'm having a similar issue. Tried the TruPure rom but I want to switch back to stock. If I do a full wipe, would I be able to use the files that Motorola provides on their website and flash those throught fastboot? Or through TWRP? Any chance you have a link to a guide on how to do the latter option (installing through TWRP)? I'm just trying to get my device back to 100% stock so that I can receive OTA.

Odexed one, install with TWRP, full wipe before doing that, no GApps, just ROM, them, install stock recovery vía fastboot. After that you Will be stock with OTAs.

Thank you for sharing that link. I think I get it but it seems too easy considering what I've tried so far. Just to make sure I get it:
I should download the odexed rom, go to twrp and wipe data, cache and dalvik then flash the odexed rom through the install function? And thats it? I've literally tried a ton of stuff so if this takes care of it, this is great!

Yes, also wipe system, make a backup before If you want, but remember, for the OTAs support you need yo flash the stock recovery via fastboot. Good luck.

This got me back to stock! You are the real MVP.
So I remember seeing a recovery.img file in the factory image that motorola posted on its site. Does it have to be a specific stock recovery or do I need a specific one to match with the file I just installed?

So I'm on stock build 49-18-8 and flashed the recovery from 49-18-3. I went into fastboot and selected recovery. I got the android character with an !
I then did the power button and volume up and got into stock android recovery. Am I supposed to see the android character with ! each time I try to reach the recovery menu? Just wondering if I did this correctly.

2-3 days ago I successfully rooted my Moto E3 power by unlocking bootloader and installing twrp recovery. Yesterday I installed Lineage 14.1 custom Rom (7.1.2) for Moto E3 power from here

The Rom installation was successful. Phone was working fine. But there was some minor lag and screen was appearing to be yellowish. Hence I decided to Factory reset the phone. I tried to reset it from phone settings. The phone switched off and turned on into twrp recovery mode. Then I tried to factory reset through twrp mode. But it is always booting into twrp recovery. I wiped all cache and data including system data and flashed the above Rom again. But whenever I try to system reboot, it is not booting normally, but always going into twrp mode.
Please provide solution for the issue with appropriate information and links.

I had done just factory reset earlier, but after that it kept on booting into recovery mode everytime I reboot the phone. Then I cleared system data to flash the ROM again. I should have done factory reset through recovery mode rather than from phone settings.

Would be great if you can share step by step process on how you recovered. Am also facing the same issue. Have factory reseted my phone and now its booting only to TWRP recovery mode. Am on Mac. Can try to get a Windows Laptop if required.

Update: Don't know if you still need the solution, but I am gonna share my info. Although as the phone you were talking about must be Moto E3, my phone is Lenovo K3 Note, but the processor should basically be the same, as both runs on Mediatek processors. And for the same reason, they both would use the SP Flash Tool to flash a ROM. You'll need to download the Stock ROM file for your moto E3, and flash it through SP flash tool installed on your computer. You'll get the tutorials on youtube. When the stock ROM is flashed, the phone will start with your stock ROM. I have had my phone do the same and it is fine now.

Yes i recovered from the situation.
You just had to download the sp flash tool and the stock ROM for your respective phone, and flash it . Remember for the above problem you just have to use the "download only" option in your sp flash tool and it will work. if you use "format all+download"
you will left by losing imei number of your phone and then you have to follow other procedure to fix that. but according to me your phone will start by choosing download only.

I've run into a bit of a problem.
I have unlocked the bootloader of my XC, and when I install TWRP 3.1.1 it boots fine if I just let it boot right after installation. If, however, I launch TWRP and reboots without doing anything, the phone gets stuck on Sony logo during boot.
I've tried flashing the XC Genesis kernel 1.06 first in fastboot, and then immediately after flash TWRP 3.1.1, which does the same. Boots fine if I don't launch TWRP, but as soon as it has been launched and rebooted, it gets stuck on Sony logo.
I've then tried to create a completely preflashed rom with PRF Creator, but that just bootlooped twice and switched the phone off.
Is there anything else to try? I really want to root my phone, to get rid of stupid bloatware and take control over my phone.

You have to run a modified kernel to be able to boot into custom recovery and allow modifications, else you end up in this bootloop. The proper procedure is flash the firmware you want, flash the kernel, then flash twrp and format data so that you can get rid of the encryption. From there you will be able to boot into the phone and twrp and can start flashing magisk and xposed.

Thanks for the reply. I would prefer to use the stock firmware, but get it rooted. Would that still work? And when you say format, you mean after I've installed TWRP, I format the phone from there and wipe data, dalvik and cache, right? And a last question, can't I use SuperSU? I remember using xPosed once, and I wasn't that big of a fan.

This is the procedure for stock firmware, there isn't really anything other than stock firmware available for this phone. The way that I used the XC Genesis kernel was to use the no drm fix one and us ta_poc to put in my stock ta keys so that I have a completely stock phone with unlocked bootloader. The drm patch one should work the same however.
When I say format I'm not saying wiping, I mean format. There is a whole separate option in Wipe that is "format data", that is what you need to do since nougat automatically encrypts your data and doesn't allow modifications, you need to backup whatever you may have on internal memory before doing this. This is essentially a factory reset so do it before setting anything up.
And yes you can use SuperSu but its not recommended as its sold to a chinese company and no longer open source, Magisk is the new thing to root with and still lets you pass safetynet where as superSU does not.

sorry for archeology but I got exaclty just the same problem.
Yesterday I decided to flash 34.3.A252 onto my XC. SO the soft itself works fine - later I decided to flash newest twrp for Kugo, 3.2.3-0.
So exactly as Thunderjew has said - after I enter TWRP once I got stuck on Sony logo.
So whats the right order of things here?
I flash stock rom -> then I flash kernel -> and then TWRP?
What about the Encryption - should I apply any? I'd very much like to have my device encrypted. Is it even possible?
But - anyone knows wher I can find working Kernel file for this firmware? Or which version from ggow would work?
I have a Moto X Style XT1572 Indian version. I updated it to stock Nougat 7.0 via OTA when it was rolled out in India. Later in January I unlocked the bootloader and installed unofficial TWRP recovery for flashing custom ROMs. I did take a full backup of stock ROM immediately when I installed the recovery. Since then I'm using custom ROMs built for Nougat modem.
At present, how can I go back to stock Nougat? I did do a full wipe (except internal memory) and tried to restore the stock Nougat backup which I took in January. The backup always gets successfully restored. However, when the phone boots up completely and reaches the language selection screen(the first screen when the phone boots up), the phone reboots and goes into a bootloop just displaying the bootloader unlocked screen. The only option I have then is to flash any custom ROM again and they do work perfectly. So what must be restricting the stock backup to boot? Also, is there any other way to go back to stock Nougat?

This thread looks like it has the nougat full firmware package for your phone. Try fastboot flashing all of it: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-style/general/xt1572firmwareclarkretasiaindiads7-t3735257
If that doesn't work out, here's another trick I've seen work on occasion. Restore your TWRP backup, but do not reboot into it. After restoring the backup, use TWRP to flash stock recovery, then reboot to recovery and do a factory reset with the stock recovery. Then reboot into the stock rom. That can clear up some internal storage problems that hang things up. There are other ways to do it, but this is easiest.

After restoring the backup, use TWRP to flash stock recovery, then reboot to recovery and do a factory reset with the stock recovery. Then reboot into the stock rom. That can clear up some internal storage problems that hang things up. There are other ways to do it, but this is easiest.
