I had water logged my phone 2 months back. It was working fine after I soaked the water out. But now suddenly touch pad, fingerprint stopped working. Everything else was working fine. I tried hard reset but didn't work.
After taking it to service centre they said they need to replace main assembly and fingerprint( Rs. 7800)
Can anyone suggest me what should I do?
Thanks

Recently my Nexus 6P got some water damage from a canoe trip (even though it was in a water "resistant" pelican case), and was not booting up. Took it to get repaired and the shop cleaned up the corrosion on the bottom of the phone where they said the water damage was. Phone booted up perfectly and everything was working great - wifi, gps, speakers, vibration motor, etc.
A few moments later my wife called me and I answered only to realize that she could not hear anything from my end. The microphone was not working. Took the phone back and they replaced the bottom PCB (daughterboard) of the phone which holds one of the main microphones.
No luck. Now I'm able to use my Nexus 6P for EVERYTHING except making phone calls, which kinda blows. I know I could use bluetooth etc. but that's not really a solution for me.
Does XDA community have any thoughts / ideas about what the problem could be and any possible solutions for me?
Thanks a ton guys!
Nathan
I think your only option is to take it back to the repair shop again.
Shop said that is all they could do for me. The daughterboard is brand new, so if the microphone is still not working, could it be something wrong with the connection to the main board? Would replacing the ribbon cable prove useful?
Thoughts appreciated!
Nathan
Without seeing the device it's very hard to say, but yeah, possibly.
I'm having the similar issue where I went to a foam paarty and got the phone wet. Fortunately everything is working fine except the proximity sensor. Sent phone to Ubreakifix for repair but tjeu couldn't find the part anywhere. Huawei/Google don't provide the replacement part & Huawei don't repair water damaged phone.
If someone could tell me where can I find the Proximity Sensor replacement will be very much appreciated.
Thanks
I shattered the lcd in my Note 3 about a week ago, so I ordered a new screen assembly from repairsuniverse.com. I had never done any kind of hardware repair on a phone before, but everything went smoothly. However, soon after installing the replacement the touchscreen stopped detecting touch from my fingers. The S Pen still works, which I understand uses a separate digitizer. After putting the new screen in I turned the phone on and tested touch using the blur effect on the lock screen. It worked fine, so I rebooted and repeated the test. Everything looked good, so I powered off and inserted my SIM and MicroSD cards. But this time when I booted, the phone wouldn't register touch from my fingers.
So far I've cleared system cache, done a full factory reset, attempted to clean the screen's ribbon cable connector pins with isopropyl, reseated that connection about 5 times, and let it sit overnight(my signature technique), but I still can't get it to work. The star code diagnostic screen test doesn't register anything, and now I don't know what else to do. Anyone have an idea of what happened? If it's just a defective digitizer, why did it work for those first 2 boots?
My fingerprint scanner has stopped working, after I upgraded to Android 7 (Nougat).
I took it into my Samsung store who said it was a hardware issue, it failed the self diagnostic test.
However they refused to fix the issue under warranty because the screen is cracked.
The screen has been cracked for over 5 months now, so I hardly see how they are related.
Can anyone way in on this?

Well if the screen is cracked, and your phone is still under warranty, then surely they should be fixing that too ? Samsung sound pretty useless to me, and use every excuse under the sun for not fixing things, try boot to recovery and factory reset, this can sometimes fix faults after an update.
EDIT: after updating mine to androind N, the fingerprint reader is working fine, infact so far ive got no problems here at all.
Yep a long as it is a UK model and under one year old Samsung should change the screen and fix the touch sensitive button. As long as you don't have a great big dent in the case that caused the cracked screen...... I just ordered new back cover for mine as it's a dual SIM and Samsung won't repair it under warranty. They quoted £65 to change the back cover and I purchased it on eBay for £20.
I will heat up the back cover and change it myself tomorrow.

Try to go back to MM.
Download latest MM version from sammobile.com and flash it with Odin
Then you will know if it's SW- or HW problem

Let them do it so you keep your device's water resistance.
s7 edge fingerprint sensor error
Wanted help regarding my s7 edge fingerprint sensor. It responds just fine sometimes but most of the time it gives an error. I tried the solution of clearing cache , pressing power and volume down button together to soft reset it. But nothing worked. The funny part is that it will respond for a few while after rebooting ( restarting ) it but when it gibes the error it stops completely until restarted again. Did not drop it. Didn't place it in water. The problem did start after updating from marshmallow to nuogat and even after getting two security patch updates. Don't know what to do. Can anyone plz guide me how to use *#0*# code to check fingerprint sensor because when i check it it sometimes give that intializing failed. Sometimes if i don't put my finger on the sensor it says it passed and when i place my finger it only shows first box passed while the rest of the boxes fail. I searched everywhere on internet for but in the end came back to xda and decided to ask u guys. As i did got alot of help from u guys on my s2 and note 4. I hope that someone might try to help.
I don't know the answer, but I can confirm a similar issue with my S7 since upgrading to nougat. Also I seen to get a few apps force closing. My device is stock and not rooted. I got so fed up with the finger scanner not responding I switched back to only a pin code for a week. Now I switched back to finger print and only set up one finger print memory........now for a week it send to be working, but still getting force closes of the play store app.

Try to reinstall the rom stock. If the problem persists, then it is a hardware problem. Your sensor went to the bag.
Guys yesterday I cleaned my Zenfone 3 the whole body including the fingerprint hardware using a wet fiber cloth then my fingerprint suddenly doesn't worked I think it's because of water entering inside the fingerprint hardware? But I did a test on calculator .12345+= the fingerprint test is fine.
I even tried restarting my phone and wipe my fingerprint a lot of times but still the same.
What should I do?
Please forgive this annoying question, but I recently dropped my K20 (and myself) in seawater in a boating "accident" and, obviously, the phone stoped working immediatelly. Opened it, dryed it, cleaned it with IPA, to no avail.
Then, after 10 days, it came back to life. The only thing not working was the FP sensor. So I bought a new one, but the phone still doesn't recognize it. I remember a problem with some phone in the past that when the FP sensor was replaced, it would not recognize it before resetting some partition or something. Does anyone know anything about it? Maybe the new sensor is busted as well, or the connector from the bottom PCB to the upper one is damaged, I know, but any information would be appreciated.
