So after almost 3 years my XT1575 seems quite dead. I took it out of my pocket and it wouldn't turn on. It had been fine 5 minutes before. Off the charger for about 2 hours , still around 90% battery at the time.
It won't reboot on very long presses of the power button; no vibration or anything so it's not just the screen. The little LED in the speaker grill doesn't light when its charging like it's discharged. My laptop cannot even detect that it plugs and unplugs, so not even a Qualcomm hs-usb qdloader 9008 device. I tried different iterations of holding buttons and plugging it into the laptop for good measure. The only sign of life is that it is a little hot, not like heavy use hot but noticeable, despite being unresponsive.
Reluctantly I took a heat gun to it, removed the back, unplugged the battery cable, and left it off until it cooled. Plugged the battery back in and the behavior is exactly the same. It heated a little, but it's totally unresponsive. Now its in a drawer, battery unplugged because I really don't like that self-heating.
Anyone got any other ideas to magically revive it?
I'm thinking of selling it for parts, but as I got no chance to thoroughly wipe it that makes me a bit nervous. It seems quite dead, but...
I got my old galaxy S3 out, popped my sim in it (with an adapter), and it's working fine. That old Samsung is 6 years old. I used it for 3 and it's been through two kids since then (had to take it back from one - he took it quite well) and it's still alive and kicking. Meanwhile my less than 3 year old Moto X is a paperweight. I'm not exactly thrilled with Moto right now.

So this is what happened:
the phone discharged fully and i connected it to charge. then i got a flashing red led. seeing this as a bad omen i tried to turn my device on - no luck - it wasn't responding.
i unplugged the charger and plugged it back in and again the same result, then again..... and i got a solid red light. so after a few times of messing about with it , trying out a few sources of power and such i got it charging (the battery logo appeared). The charging lasted for ~30 sec and it went black.
So after that the n4 is completely unresponsive. No flashing leds no backlight on screen, NOTHING.i tried out a few chargers and cables and beside those i used a genuine n4 charger (it's 100% working - i tried to charge another device). i left it there for the whole day to charge thinking that maaaaaby the battery ran to a complete 0 and i just need to give it time, as you probably guessed it, that did nothing.
In fact, i think the phone is not charging at all. The reason i think so is because the wall charger is emitting a faint high-pitch squeal regardless of the fact that the phone is connected (it should be squealing only when it's plugged into socket and the phone is not plugged in it)
so TL DR:
n4 is completely dead, no signs of life. The things that were tried:
a handful of chargers and cables that are 100% working on other devices
trying to boot with a combination of volume buttons pressed
holding the power button for 60 sec. while plugged in
prolonged charging (~7 hours)
verbal threatening to sell the damned thing if it's a serious problem
so that's that. i should get my tools back from a friend on monday. i'll try to take it apart, maby there's a loose connector here or there or something. Any ideas what i could try before that?
Some searching around the forums wouldn't hurt. Try this for example.

thanks for the link, that seems to be worth a shot.... i'll be able to take the phone apart on monday, that's the earliest i will be able to try it. i was wondering if there is anything i can do until then to remedy the situation. I mean i'm really getting a kick out of my old sony erricson k300 but i kinda prefer the nexus and would prefer to fix it asap.
ok i fixed it
i used a 3v source and held the contacts manually for 5 min. that returned it to the red blinking led state and after leaving it to charge for 5 min it returned to the battery icon on screen. thanks for the info again.
Hey guys, I've had my Nexus 4 for about a year, never had any problems, except a week ago when I dropped it in a Scottish river.
It was in the water for about 10 seconds, I was about to shut it down but the screen flickered and shut off itself, upon getting home I tore it down and put it in rice for a week like a good boy.
After which, the battery was screwed, from what Googling told me about a solid red notification light when plugged in, so I ordered a new OEM battery, put it in today, and it doesn't appear to want to charge.
I'm aware of batteries being too flat etc, I left it plugged in for about 4 hours, tried various button combination tricks, some give me the solid red light, some give me the flashing red light, which it didn't do before I changed the battery so that seems like progress.
Is something else in the phone screwed or am I doing it wrong?
My phone had been working perfectly fine, as well as charging perfectly fine. Recently, I accidentally let it drop to 0%, which I don't usually do. I went to plug it into the same wall outlet as always, but instead of the usual charge process, the battery icon with the lightning bolt in the middle simply flashes on the screen and then turns off, which happens over and over again.
It should be noted as well that about 3 weeks ago my phone get fairly wet. After that incident, I turned it off till it dried, powered it up, and everything appeared to be totally ok. No problems since then until this.
Other facts:
-I can safely get into the recovery menu (power + vol down), which is stable, but any menu selections result in the Motorola splash screen for a quick second and then the phone powering down.
-The computer will recognize the connection to the phone.
Attempts to resolve:
-New cable, new usb hub, new wall outlet
-Trickle charge from the computer (same flashing)
-Phone in rice to remove moisture
-Toothbrush cleaning of Micro-usb port (suggestion from another thread)
I'm pulling my hair out, and I am considering prying off the back and replacing the battery. I have searched other threads, but have seen various solutions none of which worked for me. If anybody has any idea how I can fix this please help!!!
Thanks in advance.
Unfortunately most probably is the hardware problem. I had similar issue with razr. Splashed it on the beach, quickly washed with tap water, dryed it and for couple of days like nothing happened. Then suddenly digizer stopped working. It was motherboard. Luckily one xda member donated me the same phone with broken screen so I replaced motherboard by myself.

Thanks for the suggestion. Well, I got it back working again, by charging it for 5 hours straight and then not charging it for an hour. Now it appears to be functioning alright, with the exception that it once went from 40% bat to 15% to 0% in a matter of seconds and I had to repeat the procedure to get it back on. I have another turbo with a broken digi that I could cannibalize but I have no idea what to replace... the battery? Bizarre issue, but I guess that comes with the territory of water damage.
Maybe some part is still wet. If another Turbo has only broken screen, then is probably the easiest solution to take screen from the (ex)wet and put to another one. You just have to have proper screwdriver.
Replaced battery now Droid turbo flashing when I charge?
Hello guys,
This just happened.
I left my phone charging, and when it hit 100%, I disconnected it from the charger and then I was going to put it in airplane mode, so I could go to bed. When I pushed the status bar down, the phone froze, 5 seconds later the screen went black and it wont turn on now.
When I plug the phone on my PC, there's a sound notification from windows, just like when you plug whatever USB device, but the phone is absolutely dead.
Holding the power button doesn't help. It just got out from warranty last month.... Full stock phone.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
50/50 chance a new battery might fix your problem. But if your not gonna do it yourself might be time to throw in the towel.
Similar event happened with me, phone died abruptly service center people told me that pcb has died and needs to be replaced, will cost more than 300$ for a new pcb. This phone has got really poor quality hardware component can die any time. Never gonna buy huawei built phone in future

I haven't had any problems with the battery whatsoever, it was fine since day one, a little but totally normal wear. The phone charged fine everytime also.
I stopped by in a service shop, they don't mess with nexus devices and they don't know anyone who does (Nexus never came to my country, so it's a rare device to see, iPhones, Galaxies and Moto G are kings here)..
Anyway, I tried everything I could. Hair dryer, downloading build with QFIL, holding the power and volume for more than 20 minutes, leaving the charger on for 24h and everything else I found online and the phone didn't even tried to recover, so I pulled the trigger on a OnePlus 5T. I hope this one lasts me for 5 years, like I was planning with the N6P.
So, I went for dinner tonight downstairs and when I came back I found my phone(A2017G) turned off with the notification light stuck on red.
Phone's old, bought it in July 2018(bought it resealed), though I had it changed via warranty after about two months due to the top speaker having the crackling/distortion issue. So I basically ended up with a brand new sealed phone for ~225$ at that time.
Back on topic though, plugging it in, it attempts to start up(vibrates and turns on), but displays the discharged battery icon (as if it ran out to 0 and shut itself off). Pressing the power button gives me the ZTE logo, the Unlocked boot-loader warning screen (which I usually bypass by pressing the power button again), then it blinks red three times and shuts itself off again. It's not booting in recovery either(running the nFound TWRP + crDroid ROM). However it won't charge. Tried multiple cables/charger combos, all act the same. it vibrates, displays the icon, then shuts off.
The device being bricked is pretty much out of the question right, unless it went DFU due to the battery? I've had it unlocked for the past 3 years at least...never had much issues with flashing (apart from the initial unlock which I wanted to be extra careful with but the drivers + EDL tool made it dead easy). And I haven't flashed or did anything of sorts recently.
Now, I'm 99% sure that the battery has finally given out, since the screen and presumably everything else work fine. The charging port has had no issues, always charged at QC amperage, no disconnects or anything, no "loosening" as I've had on multiple other phones. To be fair though , phone had started acting out a bit, slowing down and randomly closing apps...in the past few weeks and knowing the battery had already lost ~1000 mAh, I expected it to give out at some point. It's probably the safety mechanism built into it right?
The phone is old, as I said and according to Accu Battery, it's been at ~70% health for a while now.
Fortunately, a service shop in my country seems to have replacement batteries in an outside warehouse in Germany It should take around a week to deliver one to me, I'll change it myself. It seems to be original also. It's 25$, but I kinda wanted an opinion if I should buy it and replace it. I mean, for 25$...I've got nothing to lose, but hey, won't hurt to gather more info first.
I kinda don't want to replace the phone...since it still works fine and I still haven't found a replacement in the audio department. I've had people around me change their phones(to varying models, from low to high end) and tried each and every one of them(with Neutron/Hi-Res and enhancers off) and none sound as good as the Axon on the 3.5mm jack. The Axon simply works for me. Camera with GCam still slaps proper light pictures and documents, screen + sound is still fantastic for movies/anime at night when I can't be bothered to sit in a chair, calls are still crispier and louder than most phones today.
