Just read that T-Mobile have started offering TV on 3G devices in the UK. Just tested it and it works a treat - it's free until 30th June for 24 hour passes
For some reason, I don't get the link on my Vario II on the homepage but this link works to take you straight to the EPG
http://10.111.189.31/servlet/download?page=download/epg/jsptemplates/onNow.jsp
Enjoy
Smiffy.
I know the link is truncated but if you hold your mouse over it, you should be able to see the full link in your status bar
Smiffy.
Nice one Lord.
Also got the link from t-mob
http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/personal/pages.do/our-services/internet-on-the-move/mobile-tv-costs
Yeah, I had a look at that too but it doesn't mention any of the WM phones and I don't get a link off the w'n'w homepage - it's as if they don't want us to use it
Mine didn't work straight away either - I had to tell the Streaming Media program to connect via the "T-Mobile Internet" connection and it works a treat
I'm running Black 3.5, btw...
Smiffy.
Wow
and the tv hr pass works well. Only works over 3g though not over WIFI.
How did you find this out

This should also work, and is easier to re-type....
Hi,
I have just got the Vario 2 and tried to use the mobile TV. I got as far as clicking on the link and streaming media opened.
All I then got was connecting..... and then no network found.
What did you have to do to get it working?
Thanks in advance.
when the player opens have a look at menu, connection. it could need setting.
web and walk t&c's?
Just had a thought; under the terms and conditions for the basic web and walk, audio and video streaming explicitly banned. Where do those users (like me) stand with this? where did you find the link?
link is on the tmobile home page
the tinyurl link was to make it easier to put the really long link into your hermes if your viewing this from a desktop browser.
As for getting it to work. i had to click the link, agree to 24 hour pass, and then it allowed the links to open. It failed everytime for me, so idid a soft reset and since then its works faultlessly.
Awesome find.. It works perfectly on my cheap as chips pay as you go system.
One thing I'm not sure of is do I still pay for the bandwidth used ?
PAYG has a outrageously expensive £1 limit each day.. yes £1 for all your browsing etc. However its not unlimited.. and they "may" get funkey if you go over 15 meg per day. streaming video will zap this up real fast..
Down pub was streaming music vidz and news,- a nice channels selction available.. (>< Holyoaks channel too.. sigh) followed by a quick google maps to show m8's how nice the hermes is. They were all amazed. I just dont know how much bandwidth it all uses up, thus how much ultimatly it will cost, or if viable.

Reading thier t&c's , It seems that MobileTV is excluded from webnwalk and is a separate product. So you don't need to even subscribe to webnwalk to use Mobiletv.
However, you DO need webnwalk to access the t-mobile webpages related to mobileTV. So if you have a 1 day pass, each day you would need to access the website (and incur webnwalk charges unless they are included in your price plan), plus the mobile tv charge.
I think on other devices (non WM), you can instal an application to handle the charging and playing of TV, thus avoiding need for web page accessing.
Now, i wonder if the MobileTV charge is an 'extra' or whether it is deducted from my FlexT allowance?
cool, something thats works for me 1st time!
the big brother 8 channel is the E4 live footage!
A way to keep her happy down the pub
Well, I managed to get it working once, via GPRS (was downstairs, rubbish 3G reception downstairs).
Subsequently, reconnected on 3G and tried to make it work - making sure the Streaming Media app was set to connect via T Mobile Internet... No dice.
Not been able to make it work since then, I think there must be a problem with their streaming platform somewhere or the way the variables are being passed to the streaming app, because why else would it work once and then never work again? Very annoying.
you are rather fab Lordsmiff, I have spent AGES trying to find that stupid link
Not having to top up....?
Being a bit of a tight a#*e and wanting to give this a go, I was wondering if t-mob give any free credit if you register you SIM or anything like that. I just stuck a new PAYG SIM in and wanted to give it a go but am at work so can't/don't really want to put any credit on it. I know o2 and Voda do...
you do need some credit on your account to sign up for the service via the webpage which is on your phone.
However t-mobs online billing site does work with pay as you go too. so I can check how much I've used etc, and you are not charged for the streaming video bandwidth, which is cool.
One strange thing is I notice listed is a
TMO Network Coupon 2001 QOS1000 - a data link.. saying 21k,
This has been poling every hour for the last day.. I have not been charged for this.. I have no idea what this is. or if it is linked to the tv system... odd.
shame the service has been down since at least 5:45am!
Hi my thoughts (using Tytn Vario II);
- Streaming works well. I hate streaming over 3g but this works well. No breaks in audio or video. The framerate sometimes is low for the video but audio is fine all the time. Again fairly acceptable with current technoloy.
- the electronic program guide could have been better, but i guess they are trying to keep it simple for compatability with less specification mobile devices.
- Not quite 'live' TV (except maybe Big Brother). Seems to be preselected scheduled content. Most programs are small snippets - but that is fine since most mobile TV usage is about wanting to have a quick 5-6 minute view.
Can't wait for the day we can view on our mobiles the exact same content that is being transmitted on normal tv.
- Hopfully more content to appear if this trial is sucessful for T-Mobile.
- Dont really like the built in Streaming Media Player but it does the job ok - anyone know of any 3rd party alternatives out there?
- shame no BBC channels.
Finally,
- would I pay for this service? ....hmmm..maybe - a little more choice in content and so long as once I pay for say monthly access AND dont have to worry about data charges....
PROS:
Reliable and acceptable access compared to similar 'free' alternatives
CONS:
Limited choice of channels
Not enough of 'live' broadcast content

Hello all, I'll get straight to the problem and not waste any more of your time than needed as I know most of you are very busy.
I got a new HTC TyTN II and I am on AT&T in the US. My problem is that when I try to do something that streams audio or video data it will not do it. I connect to the Wi-Fi and it will do it just fine. I can open web pages and do speed tests till I turn blue, but streaming audio and video are out. I must also point out that because I live in Denver there is no 3G, I am on EDGE.
I have already talked with HTC, but they said I need to talk to the provider since the phone can do it via wi-fi. I went to a local AT&T store and said it might be my plan, they changed it from the MediaMax + 200 to the PDA connect package. I have seen no change and this was about 14 hours ago from this post. The rep also changed out my sim card as I had a Cingular 64K smartsim, they upgraded me to a AT&T 3G sim. They were unable to figure it out and suggested I call AT&T tech support (oh joy). I called and the rep I talked to said that its because I'm using an unbranded phone on the edge, when 3G hits denver this problem should go away, he also mentioned that it happens with most of the 3G phones that AT&T sells. For some reason though, this just doesn't sound right. Technically it could be done. A 64kbit audio stream is easily done via a 200kbit data EDGE connection, so I don't see why they wouldn't allow it. Just seems foolish to block these services if this is true. I just have a hard time believing this is the cause.
I have a few programs that do work, and don't work because of the data issue. Youtube mobile works, it uses a program called "Streaming Media", and the file format is .3gp, but when I stream other data, like from Orb in .3gp, it does not work, even in "Streaming Media". I have another program called Resco Radio, it enables me to listen to Shoutcast radio, but it does not work at all on the edge, on wi-fi it works fine. Then I have xstreamxm.com, they allow me to listen to XM on my mobile device using Windows Media Player. This also does not work.
Programs that do work are Windows Live Maps, Google Maps, Youtube Mobile, and internet surfing. Speed tests are coming in from 174-226kbits/sec from dslreports.com.
Knowing what you know now, what do you think the problem could be? I am open to ANY suggestion, so please write back. Thank you in advance for your time.
Sounds like you need to disable the proxy if you're on the $20 MEdia Maxx plan.
Read this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=330171&highlight=streaming
It was a very simple search for me....
I have searched around the phone and I am not able to locate where to disable the proxy. I searched all the connection settings area and all the connections area. hmmm.....
EDIT - I found it, I had to change the settings on MEdiaNet, not My ISP. MEdiaNet settings are harder to get to which is why I missed them. You can't directly get to them from the connections page, you have to get the settings link while its dialing. I seemed to have gotten it fixed (HOORAY FOR ME! lol)
Thanks Flapjack for pointing out that thread, that really helped.
Not sure where else to ask this, wondering if other Focus users are having similar results.
I'm still on the 1 month of free Zune Pass streaming. It has really been about 50/50 for me in terms of reliability. I have full 3G signal just about everywhere I go. Anytime I go to start streaming a song, it is constantly buffering to the point where it just isn't even worth trying. Sometimes, however, it works as advertised and it's amazing.
I don't know if there is something wrong with my account, or something messed up on my phone or what. Normally, I would just hit pause and let it get a bit of a head start, but when you hit pause, it stops downloading.
Anyone else have stuttering or buffering problems with the Zune Pass on the Focus?
Thanks for any insight.
at&t has new sims
No problem here, on 3g or wifi. All is well.
It could be your sim, at&t has new sims. Look here.

Hope it helps.
I got my phone back after it being serviced by a local official Samsung service center because I managed to brick it. I only just noticed that it won't play any music or video. Not from the original Samsung music app, not the video player, not even YouTube. It also still loses network setting everytime I reboot so on a new boot it says network can't be found so I have to let it search for network again and manually choose the right network. Anybody have an idea what might be causing this?
Wanted to find out if any of you know how this is possible or has happened to you: Bride & I both have Verizon S5's, same rev, 900V, mine is rooted via your excellent instructions here, hers is not. This weekend, she was @ her parents' house & her phone's content suddenly started playing on a nearby Vizio smart HDTV! Pretty sure she's on Marshmallow (6.0). This was accompanied by a message on her phone that appeared to be from Google, stating her phone had a virus. Research indicates this may be nothing @ all but a pop-up. Her phone's wifi was on & connected to the parent's Cisco/Linksys router. No messages or weirdness since then.
Makes me wonder if there was something enabled on the smart TV to automatically pair or stream. I know Google Cast can also run on these phones & do similar things. Who knows...sadly I wasn't there to examine the blast zone.
Today, my rooted S5 suddenly had the Peel Remote control panel show up in the swipe down notification area, after I throttled on wifi on the phone. The custom ROM I'm using was supposedly debloated & deodexed, but I've noticed I still have all the Verizon factory apps, NFL, Amazon, & Audible apps...just hidden or turned off. I'm on Lollipop (5.0). Peel wasn't listed in the hidden or disabled apps, I just happened to find it running in Application Manager. What the heck? Granted, I haven't caught back up w/ you guys to disabled the bootloader so Verizon can't push updates to my phone; we have the newer "11" CID that's a much tougher nut to crack.
I happened up this thread & it appears to allow us to finally crack the bootloader for CID 11:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve.../testers-required-easier-root-method-t3561529
Do ask that you please share w/ me one piece of guidance: which ROM would you recommend for busy Mom & Dad w/ a busy tribe who don't do social media, don't do sports, don't do buying on their phones. Just using our S5's for texting, phone, occasional YouTube, occasional web, Google Maps, mobile hotspot. Greatly appreciate yooz guys!
Peace.
