Oreo background playback problems - Huawei P10 Lite Questions & Answers

Is anyone else experiencing problems with background playback? I've even tried setting battery optimization to manual and locking it in memory and the process still gets paused. It also happens regardless of whether the screen is on or off.

Flickering Home Screen

After gaming on my G2 for a couple hours. (after reading a top ten android games thread) I found the home screen flickering. Kind of frustrating because all of the other pages were fine.
I had auto brightness OFF .
I turned it ON and then OFF and the flickering stopped.
I would love to know if anyone else sees this, and if toggling AutoBrightness ON/OFF fixes it for you as well.
yes i have the same issue and so does a lot of others with this device.
i am going to flash PA later and see if it does it on that also.
thatll hopefully determine if its a software or hardware issue.
i have a couple issues with this device.
streaming music causes a screeching sound in my headphones that i dont get when i listen to music already on the device.
dual camera mode does not work for me either, at least with my stock cam app.

Screen doesn't timeout when playing music with bluetooth device

I just updated my unrooted Note 3 to Lollipop 5.0 and I noticed some strange behaviour that I didn't experience with KitKat. When I play music through any sort of bluetooth device, the display won't timeout. It will just stay on as long as the music is playing. If I pause the music, the screen will eventually timeout to whatever it's set at (I set it at 15 seconds just for testing purposes). This doesn't happen when using ordinary headphones plugged into the phone. This also doesn't happen if just playing the music through the speakers. The issue happens on all music apps.
I also have another problem that might be related. When I have a bluetooth device connected, I can't raise the volume past 10. The volume warning dialog box would pop up really quick, then go away.
I was just wondering if anyone else can do a test and see if they experience the same problem.
*UPDATE*
I eventually did a factory reset and it fixed all the issues I mentioned above.
*UPDATE 2*
Found out it was actually the app called "Don't Pause Pro!" that was causing the issues.

Spotify App Persistence Issue

Scenario:
Playing music with Spotify app, close app, music does not stop. In fact you have to force close the app in order to stop the music. When notifications come, music does not change focus temporarily. When phone call comes in, focus does to change to call. This is only with spotify.
I have uninstalled, cleared cache, reinstalled, tried on other edge plus(Es) all to the same. Anyone else have this problem? Or better, a fix?
Okay I've been testing other apps, its all apps capable of playing in the background. I guess it is an OS level bug, I'll try a full reset and share whether it fixes it
Funny, my Spotify is stopping. While working out, it takes about 5 to 10 minutes and it closes. I already configured it as an exception from batt optimization (turned off for spotify) but the behavior is still the same...
Try another version of spotify.

Podcast Addict skips/stutters with screen off

I can't seem to find an answer anywhere to this and I am starting to think I am the only one with this problem. Basically when listening to a podcast at ~1.9x or faster the audio stutters and produces a static sound. Waking the screen immediately stops the issue. The issue gets worse if you increase the speed or enable the "skip silence" feature.
I made sure to disable any battery saving options for the app and enabled any workaround options within the app. I even contacted the developer who pretty much just said that the phone is governing the processor too low with the screen off. I have tested other podcast apps and they seem to function fine even at faster playback speeds. For some reason, this only affects Podcast Addict.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Anybody have a suggestion for a fix? I am completely stock OOS version 4.5.6. I have the 8/128GB model if it makes a difference.
Edit: So I have messed with it a little more. It seems to have issues even if the screen is on and the app is not in the foreground. Within ~5 seconds of being put into the background it begins to stutter.
I have the same exact problem. Happens wired and via bluetooth.

I recently updated to Podcast Addict beta and the problem is not as bad as it was (although still worse than on my ancient Note 3).

Whatsapp audio stuttering when played on background (S8 Exynos)

Like the title says, when I have Whatsapp open on the foreground audio messages play normally; if I start to play a message and switch apps or even just go to the home screen, the audio stutters heavily and sometimes even makes cackling noises. I noticed that if I reboot the phone and immediately play Whatsapp audio on background I can get about a minute of stutter-free audio, and then it starts stuttering again. This doesn't happen with other apps, just Whatsapp.
I tried to reboot, start the audio and immediately switch to CPU-Z to try and see what's going on; I noticed is that just after reboot CPU usage hovers around 50%, and during that period the audio doesn't stutter; then CPU usage starts to fall, when it reaches like 15% the stutter begins. If I put some other app to play audio on the background, e.g. Google Play Music, I notice that CPU usage increases from idle, whereas while playing Whatsapp audio on the background CPU usage barely changes.
Conclusion: it seems that Whatsapp is being somehow throttled CPU wise while on the background.
Does anyone else has the same problem? Any clue as to how to fix it? I already tried to remove Whatsapp from the list of apps for which battery saving is allowed; nothing changed.
Thanks.
Same for me on every phone
I have the same issue on all devices, I upgraded from a pixel xl to s8+, I have the stutter issue. I need to test if an older version of whatsapp has this problem.
